TOTAL SCAM
March 11, 2025

Textbooks.com services Barnes and Nobel textbook buy back. AVOID BOTH B&N and Textbooks.com at all costs. You will literally get nothing for your textbook. 0, zip, zlich, nadda. I entered a $150 textbook on Barnes & Nobel's website and received a quote to buy it back. At the bottom of the page they tell you in VERY small print that their book buy back is serviced by Textbooks.com. (Most of their customer support employees don't even know this. More on that later.) I accepted the quote and mailed the book in the pre-paid envelop. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WAS SAID PRIOR TO SHIPPING THE BOOK THAT THEY DO NOT ACCEPT BOOKS THAT HAVE ANY SIGNS OF USE. So two weeks after sending my textbook, which had two pages the slightly curled in the entire book instead of receiving my money I received any email saying that they would not be honoring their quote because the book had water damage. The book was wrapped in bubble wrap and sent in a plastic envelope, so I highly doubt water damage occurred during transit. That said, just to make sure they were covered in case I called them out on the lie, the included in line in the email that said. "We are unable to accept books with even minor water damage, including ruffled pages or any stain," if they had said they won't accept books with ruffled pages BEFORE they got my book I wouldn't have sent it, but now they have a $150 textbook for free that will no doubt be to someone else with all the proceed pure profit. Barnes and Nobel.com customer service employees initially tried to tell me my emails were part of a scam, and were actually quite insistent about it, but after 45 minutes I was finally able to speak to a supervisor who confirmed they were legitimate. They of course will do nothing to help you, but do appreciate your business. Avoid both Barnes & Nobel buy back and Textbooks.com unless you like getting cheated out of your money.
