Horrible experience
March 28, 2025

I have had a nightmare of an experience…
I have had a nightmare of an experience with TD Insurance. I have been with TD Insurance for 18 years both my cars and home. To my surprise my premium on home jumped 60 percent went from $3000 to $5000 and my car premium went from $2900 to $3500. In what planet is this acceptable for a customer whom has been with the company for 18+ years with minimal one claim back in 2020 this is high way robbery. I spoke to several reps making my case to be told that this is a collective punishment and there is not much they can do. In my several interactions having no choice asked for managers thinking maybe they would listen to my concerns and have some flexibility to bring me down to a reasonable place but I was told that their premium must have gone up as well and I'd better start shopping around, my jaw dropped at that point. I honestly felt sick to my stomach. I requested for someone higher, my number was taken and passed to what they call TD Care ( I assume this is some sort of team that deals with escalations) I was told can take up to 14 days to hear from this team which again I found disturbing but having no choice I settled. To my surprise a call came in that I was not able to answer since I was in middle of work. Was told to communicate day and time via email they can call me which I provide and a week of waiting of course no call. The strange part of this is they have the nerve to call me to discuss my premium on my car, I could not believe it and had to disconnect the call before I lost it on the person as this was not their doing. My humble request to whom ever is considering TD for Home or Auto please be careful they are horrible in terms of customer support, leadership, and if you have to deal with a claim the partners they have are unprofessional and takes numerous calls to deal with simple things. If your time money matters their are a lot of better options out there that actually take loyalty of 18+ year to mean something. Am I bitter, of course as they totally disregarded my concerns and not a single person from front line to management took any steps to provide me a sensible resolution.

I opened an investment account and a savings account in the same day with TD Bank and deposited money in the savings account. After waiting some days for the cheque to be compensated, I discovered that I could not transfer the money between the accounts since they were not "linked," and the process would still take 3-5 additional business days.
Why were the accounts not "linked" on the day I opened them? Why wasn't I told to deposit directly into the investment account?

TD Bank is HORRIBLE
January 8, 2025

TD Bank NOT FOR VETS
I opened an account on 4 Jan 24 with my VA Disability check and didn't get the "bonus" and then when I tried to transfer money to my account after providing every piece of information they asked for and already transferring money once they suspended my ability to transfer money. I was told I have to show that I OWN the account that I transferred my money from IN PERSON! I already provided the information online and can't get back to the bank for at least a week due to the fact that I am a HOMELESS VETERAN without transportation. Does anyone know of a bank that takes care of homeless veterans trying to get back on their feet? It isn't TD Bank! UPDATE! Since I wrote this review TD Bank has since BLOCKED my access to my account and my money from my VA disability check!

One bad apple
November 25, 2024

I usually love going into this branch and usually relieve great service from all except for this person. Who always upsets people and over steps her boundaries is borderline rude and invades your privacy far too much. Every I time I go she's miserable and upsets alot of people. She should be in another.job

Worst Bank: TD Bank
November 23, 2024

When considering bringing my business to a new bank TD Bank was recommended by my husband. I decided not to go forward and boy, am I glad that I didn't allow my funds in the hands of a bank that treats it customers as unfairly, falsely accusing its customers of making fraudulent transactions, and not standing behind the truth. I am appalled by this bank lack of investigation for hacked accounts and subpar customer service. TD Bank is causing strain in my household even though I don't bank there and I will never bank with TD Bank! I found that Well Fargo offers me superb customer service and stands beside you in time of need.

Our son past on and we required a bank statement of the balance for his account to get financial assistance for the funeral. We produced a death certificate and the appropriate ID. Needless to say, this was an impossible task for them to complete and still to this day we have not been given the piece of paper with the ZERO balance on it and of course proceeded with the funeral. At such a time, they were absolutely needlessly cruel.

I strongly caution against engaging with TD Bank, as my experience suggests they operate as a scam company. Be wary of any involvement, as it may result in financial loss and unfavorable outcomes.

I've gotten my money back and that was only way I could go about it. I got help from. (I USED THEIR WEBSITE URL AS MY DISPLAY NAME AND PROFILE PICTURE ON THIS REVIEW INCASE YOU NEED HELP AND WANT TO REACH OUT TO THEM).

Note: I did this because of the strict policy over here and honestly i just want to help as many people as possible to get their money back.

The TD bank branch Long Island City is the worst TD branch in all of Queebs and quite possibly in the entire city. The staff is incompetent, a gross misrepresentation of TD bank and the rancid employees who stand out the most as being the worst ones are jackie persuad and kamrun m nahar. Just awfully terrible employees who motivate one to permanently close their account just to avoid dealing with the trash. TD corporate needs to investigate this location.

Train the employees, after one year they still don't know how to proceed lump sum payment transaction. Same brunch (Upper Middle rd/8th line Oakville brunch), same employees, same transaction. Ignorance to learn. I'm frustrated every month when I have to make payment. It is not acceptable anymore.

Ordering bank account checks.
1st order - screw up on the specifics. Asked no address and no names. Initials ok. Detailed the 2 initials to use - they screwup
Reorder telling them they screwed up. They'll fix it.
2nd replacement comes in -
Screwed up again - this time they added the address.
WTH?

Ordering for the 3rd time now.
This is going on 30days now, JUST to get a simple correct cheque order processed correctly.
Tele-service reps dont listen, dont/cannot understand, completely ignorant with how to communicate.
One needs to deal with a supervisor, JUST get to someone with minimal brain cell capacity to get the job done right the 1st time.

TD bank
March 18, 2024

TD offered a saving plan with cash bonus and said the bonus will be deposited into your account by Feb 29,2024. I have been confirmed that my account was qualified. No money given by the due date. I called them on Mar 1, told me to wait a few days due to the high volume until Mar 6. No money given again. I called again on Mar 7, no answers, told me it would be escalated, and should receive the money by the follow Thursday, which goes to Mar 14. No money again. I called in on Mar. 15, told me it has been approved. It should be given by the end of March.

How can people trust a bank like this, no credit, no commitment. Not mention how many times I have called them and how frustrate I have to tell the story once and once again, if I have been approved through escalation, why don't release the money into my account directly? And now, I don't even know what is going to happen on Mar 31. The small amount of fund means nothing for a bank, but means a lot to me. I can use it to pay bills, or invest again, either way can help to my daily life. TD doesn't care how it impacts to their customers. Every time I called in, just saying "Sorry, wait, sorry wait", nothing else, pointless. Never use TD again.

My debit card was stolen, my checking account drained, they didn't even bother to check the video cameras to see who was stealing my money, refused to refund anything saying the thieves stoped using my card after I reported it stolen, meaning I was involved in stealing my own money myself. They stopped using because it was already declined and there was no money left. Next thing you know comes new debit card in the mail, I didn't activate or use it, because I already got another card at the bank in person. A few weeks later somebody is trying to charge this card that came in the mail and I never used, of course it was declined, so I had to report it again. A week later somebody is charging my new card that I just got in person at TD bank trying to buy something on Amazon. I called Amazon they have no idea, will do investigation. So I had to cancel this card too, and get another one today. I'm tired of looking at my account being scared the money is gone again. I assume it's somebody working at TD bank or hacked into their system that is doing that. They are too lazy to investigate (or just don't want to give my money back, which is more likely). So I'm going back to citi bank, where I had an account for 10 years and never had a problem before switching to TD bank, which was a huge mistake. Thanks.

Electronic banking services such as funds transfer are very limited and restrictive. Problem resolution is slow and rigid. Personal touch and banking relationship is non-existent. Algorithm and policy rule. Credit limits are out of touch with credit worthiness. I could go on but suffice to say this is NOT America's most convenient bank.

TD Bank is the most frustrating bank I have ever had to deal with. I have been a customer since 2016 and an employee for over a year as a Easy-line Call Specialist. I've given this bank many of tries to redeem themselves. I'm over it and making my story public.

During this time working for TD I suffered from severe depression and mental exhaustion it was one of the worst jobs I've ever had to work for because of the pressure and restrictions they put on their call agents. Did TD do anything to help with it... NO.

On top of this their banking services aren't much better to experience. I've spent countless hours and money call abroad over the phone unlocking my cards and online account. This bank is not user friendly for those who live abroad in other countries. TD bank has caused me so much distress in less then 10 years and I've had enough of it.
I certainty don't want others to endure the experiences I've had to go through.

Trying to close down all of my accounts and investments today which took 50min to call and get a hold of a specialist just for the call to disconnect. Calling back the next special was very nice but it has taken me over 2 hours just to find out I need to go into the branch. Absolutely ridiculous terrible service.

I've moved to Tangerine for about 4 months and Im so much happier now and have had zero issues or complaints.
Tangerine was previously founded by ING a Dutch bank from the Netherlands who I also have an account with. I have been living in The Netherlands for over 2 years. Their services are very similar and hassle free, everything is done online and easily accessible. Calling their customer service doesn't take over an hour and their online services are very user friendly.

I was a TD customer for over 25 years and I due to my recent experience with TD I made the decision to close my checking and savings accounts and move my funds elsewhere. I also hold a high value TD credit card which I have paid to 0 and will no longer use, I also switched my insurance to a different insurance provider.
Long story short I received a new card in the mail as my old card had expired. I live remotely and my pay cheques are in actual cheque form and living remotely I use the mobile app to deposit my cheques. The new card that was issued to me did not have access to deposit cheques through the mobile app so I proceeded to call the 1800 number their app provided. The representative I spoke to seemed friendly and helpful and said I would have to go to a branch to and explain this to them and they will issue me a new card in person. I made the long drive through the snowy mountains to go to the TD branch (Branch # 9149) in person and when I explained my situation to the teller in person she informed me that she cannot help me with that and advised me to call the 1800 number on the app. So I deposited my cheque in person and went home and waited almost 2 weeks for my next pay cheque. I tried to mobile deposit the cheque and got the message about not having access to deposit cheques mobile. I called the 1800 phone number and was told it is at the bank tellers discretion to issue me a new card or not. Now being someone with funds in my account that I've held with them for over 25 years, I have a high value credit card with TD and I don't just have good credit, my credit score is excellent. She explained to me on the phone there could have been an issue with fraud. Now this issue isn't on my end and if they had some fraud activity on their end related to my account I was never informed. Maybe this is a common reason why access for mobile app deposit is not granted but if that is not the case here why can I not get a straight answer from anyone and get this issue resolved. In the end I closed my checking and savings accounts which the representative quickly did without trying to find a better resolution and I moved my funds elsewhere. I paid my high value TD credit card to 0 and will no longer use it and I switched my insurance to a different provider.
I will not pay a company or bank over $200 a year in fees for services I am not allowed to use and can't even get a straight answer as to why I no longer have access to the mobile deposit in the app. If this is the direction TD is moving in with their customer service I am happy to no longer be a long term loyal customer.
Just wanted to let everyone know my recent unfortunate experience with this bank.

Do not open an account at TD. I recommend any local credit union instead. TD was very responsive and accommodating to in order to get me to place my money with TD, but as soon as they had my money and the staff earned their commission, they completely ignored me and made me feel completely disregarded. I have been contacting the staff who helped me set up my accounts in an attempt to invest my money, as they state I cannot do that myself, and they have been ignoring every email and attempt to contact them (in attempts to invest my money) for over one month now.
