Synchrony is a bank that issues private label credit cards. I applied for a Lowe's credit card online and was rejected because they couldn't get a credit report on me. I forgot that I locked them down to prevent fraud. So, I reapplied and got an automatic reply that I was rejected again because I reapplied too soon. So, I called customer service and was told to reapply online and then call customer service back. I did that and the rep I spoke to told me I was denied again but she wouldn't tell me. A few days later, I got an automated reply that I had reapplied too soon. So, I am done with them. I would also suggest NEVER getting a credit card from a retailer that promises a big discount on your first purchase. The bank behind that card is likely Synchrony. It just isn't worth it.
I had to close this credit card because I never used it. Having an unused credit card was dinging my credit score. It'll ding it a bit closing it but my score is so high it won't matter due to how good my credit score is. The ding in my score will be short lived but worth it in the long run.
I'm thrilled they finally added in a close my account button on their website. It use to be you had to call the 800#. Experiences were shaky at best and customer service wasn't all that great. Now that you can do most things online they get snooty and rude with clients that want someone else to do it for them.
I received notification from my Credit Reporting Agency that my QVC Credit Card was cancelled. (Synchrony Bank) I called and was informed they close accounts if you haven't used it in 24 months. No notice given! I am not a huge shopper but I didn't know I'd be punished for it. Unless you shop QVC regularly, use another card, don't fall for the "We can offer you $50.00 credit if you open an account ". Closing accounts does bring your credit score down.

I wish I had been made aware that non activity would close my account.
