They are getting worse and worse. The functionalities are weak and try to deceive customers with automatic subscriptions and they have a no refund policy. Not very transparent and not honest company. Compared to the competition, they are very weak.
I am attempting to do data collection through Survey Monkey and the survey concludes without having respondents answer questions. I have all setting in place and correct and this continues to happen. Survey Monkey continues to send me articles to read. The issue is not me the issues it the system. This is for my dissertation and I have mailed out 160 announcements for people to take this with a defected survey.
I needed to send a quiz to event attendees. And I needed for them to be able to retake the quiz if they failed. Survey monkey says re-take is part of the paid package. So I paid to upgrade and then discovered the feature was NOT AVAILABLE. Contacted them immediately - they ignored my first email. Contacted them a second time and refused to refund the payment, despite the fact they falsely sold me a feature. Lime survey is much better as a survey tool, and for quizzes I found an execllent tool called FlexiQuiz that does exactly what SurveyMonkey claimed to do but doesn't - with a free trial to prove this. Avoid this company.
I was just exploring the different plans and was trying select 1 user instead of 3 but then the website charged me. There was no confirmation page that most legitimate websites have to prevent accidental purchases. Hopefully, they'll give me my money back, if not I'll just call the credit card company.
I have two accounts, Basic and Pro under the same email address. I cannot get into the Pro account, it keeps diverting me back to basic, so I am paying for a Pro Plan I cannot get to. For several months I have tried every avenue available on their website and even called (left messages) with no response to calls and no help from tech support email responses. Pro is a reasonably good survey tool but once they have you paying, good luck in getting help or even cancelling your paid subscription. They are a Black Hole... you can send them emails and call them, but nothing gets out.
I just needed to send out a survey for a class project, and the only way was to subscribe for a month. They automatically make your account auto-renew. The one survey ended up costing just under $100, as I forgot to unsubscribe. Moreover, that was a basic survey, without much of any analytics at all. There doesn't appear to be a way to unsubscribe from a mobile device, and it is not immediately intuitive from a computer. Once you do, they try to guilt you into staying. Quite a disgusting greedy company in my opinion.
They are refusing to refund the auto pay even though they can see I did not use the service. Unethical.

Where do I begin?
Let's start with the payment policy. Survey monkey claims to charge a monthly subscription rate. However, when it comes to payment time, you get billed for a whole year and then the payment option is set to renew automatically. At the end of the subscription period, with no warning at all, no invoice nothing, your payment information is exploited in violation of your data protection rights and you get billed. Contacting Survey Monkey to annul the payment, is very difficult to say the very least and when you do finally get hold of someone, you receive a generic one-size fits all email in response to your problem by some fellow probably based in India.
The next thing is that the website is terrible. Very difficult to use to construct surveys, and not at all intuitive or interactive for creating surveys, especially not ones with multiple answer routes.
Getting audience feedback has to be paid for and is not included in the subscription fee!
I could go on but suffice it to say that I really think if you have an alternative, use that and stay away from this crap.
I purchased this program for 12 months at almost 7k. I explained I only wanted 12 months and I had a marketer team working in our site and that they would be taking over marketing. Now we are 12 months past and they are billing me 7k again saying it is due in full immediately as they failed to cancel the subscription. They then said they tried to contact me in Jan and Feb (I have no calls or emails from them at all in 2020 prior to demanding 7k). The kicker is I never used their program as marketing started the next week and have their own subscriptions. So they pocketed 7k for nothing and now want another 7k. Run from this company! Complete dishonesty in billing. And they refuse to correct it even with written proof you only agreed to 12 months and someone else was taking over.
There was an error last year and I accidentally signed up for more service than I could possibly need. I fought with them about it and there reply was that there was nothing they could do but they would turn off autorenew. Guess what... billed for the service I tried to cancel and was told again, there was nothing they could do but they would turn off autorenew.
Beware of your account with Survey Monkey and make sure you do not have auto renew checked. I discovered this in September and notified Survey Monkey to refund my money or at least a partial refund. They have repeatedly denied my requests and wont let me have access to their president to make a formal complaint. Don't sign up!
Beware of this site Survey monkey their auto renew policy does not notify you when your up for renewal. I found the charge on my card and have not used this service in months due to it's irregular functionality. Upon contacting them about the charge they refused to even discuss the matter of even a partial refund. Rip off artist any reputable company. Would refund ones purchase most exotically when they can see i have not used it. They just close my account they suffer no lose.
I used it for my masters research project and paid approx £300 to get target audience. As they highly advertise of being quality and all but to my surprise I paid a huge amount for junk and gibberish. The users in reality wrote "nhdjdjd" kind of replies. I contacted customer service more than twice but they maintained that I didnt set the filters right. In short, they charge you for no service provided. I would advise everyone out there NEVER to waste money on survey monkey paid responses. I am sure their own staff sits down and fills them.
This is a rip off company. When you sign up for monthly service they charge you for the year. I receive a bill after I retired and reach out to them that day and they refused to prorate the charge and insisted I pay for the year.
This is a very unethical company.
Basic plan is crap. So you want to have a test run on the ONLY monthly plan which costs 35$. The rest of the plans are to be paid annually, so naturally we go on the only monthly plan.
Once you start the plan, you find out that it lacks functionality. Even the basic things are available to upgraded plans, except the 35$ one.
When you navigate deep on their website because there's no friendly way of contacting them, they simply reply that they WON'T REFUND YOUR MONEY. Even if the product was used for less than an hour.
They charged me for 3 users when there was only one. It quotes a monthly fee and and then bills a whole year up front

When you stop auto renewal they bill you for the 20% discount they apparently give you
ABSOLUTE SCAMMERS. REPORT THEM TO YOUR LOCAL CONSUMER AFFAIRS PEOPLE AND WRITE ON EVERY INTERNET SITE YOU CAN TO WARN PEOPLE
Terrible company that rips you off. Charged our CC with ZERO authorization to do so; in fact, we told them NOT to charge us, that we did not want their "service." Avoid them at all costs.
Paid a premium to get several hundred guaranteed responses to my survey. Got ZERO responses. Then they want me to PAY TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE ON THE PHONE? Ridiculous!
I was seeking ways of earning extra cash via focus groups. Many pay decent $$$ for a few hours of your time. SurveyMonkey was recommended, but when I signed up I was unable to find any focus groups. They claimed I could make money by filling out surveys. I'm not sure what happened but I somehow wound up on another similar site SurveyJunkie, I went through over a dozen survey applications answering tons of personal information, spent a few hours, all of them told me after doing so, Sorry but I didn't qualify! WTF? I didn't earn anything, just the initial few points for signing up, not even redeemable. What waste of time and energy, and now I'm on probably some phone and email lists that I can't find support to cancel. I don't know if these sites are related or legit, but they are like data mining on steroids!
I've asked Survey Monkey to cancel our plan several times. On our February American Express bill, we were charged $362.88.
Apparently this is a company which refuses to cancel plans and doesn't employ any humans that one may speak to.
