They charged me for 3 users when there was only one. It quotes a monthly fee and and then bills a whole year up front
They refused to refund for extra users they billed for
Their site information is deceptive- things in tiny print you need a magnifying glass to read
When you stop auto renewal they bill you for the 20% discount they apparently give you
ABSOLUTE SCAMMERS. REPORT THEM TO YOUR LOCAL CONSUMER AFFAIRS PEOPLE AND WRITE ON EVERY INTERNET SITE YOU CAN TO WARN PEOPLE

They set the auto renew feature to on automatically. They do not tell you this nor do they send an email before it renews - only after. Its very misleading in my view

1. Their cancellation policy is no refunds. *UPDATE* I heard back from a real person and they still refused to refund me --> they value short-term profit over long-term profit/success.
2. They ludicrously overcharge for their service ($100/month is ridiculous).
3. They automatically charge you without your consent (their website is purposely built that way to cheat people). *UPDATE* Their customer service representative defended this position! They prioritize short-term profit over customers & long-term profit/success.
4. They have no customer service. Their customer service is a help bot with no alternatives. *UPDATE* Customer service is unwilling to work/compromise with customers!
5. They tell paid users that they have 24/7 customer support, but it's controlled by the help bot.
6. Every single time I've logged in from the same device, but they tell me they don't "recognize my device".
7. Every single time I've logged in they tell me my login is suspicious because of the above and make me do a complicated "verification routine" that wastes my time.
8. Their website is super simple but cluttered. So I'm paying $100 a month for extremely basic features that are hard to find and waste my time.

Beware if you sign up for a 'free' SurveyMonkey account. They advertise 40 responses / survey available in free account option. We got 20 responses but SurveyMonkey is only enabling us access to 10 responses. Customer service says if we "wish to view more than 10 responses, you will need to upgrade to a paid plan". So, they're holding our data to ransom until we sign up and pay them money! This sounds like misleading advertising, luring people in with false claims as to what's available. We're a community group with 25 members, and little money, and only need to do one survey per year. Customer service justified the change to our account options, saying that SurveyMonkey selected our account for one of their many experiments to change what an account is able to do, so they can 'test the market' on 'optimizations for prices and packages'. My response to SurveyMonkey about whether the market will accept them restricting a free account after the survey has run from 40 down to 10 responses and holding the data for free is: NO! We're not going to upgrade, and we'll find a different way to survey members.

They trick you with billing. They charge you when you are not supposed to be charged and they are absolutely no help when you contact them. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SITE. You cannot do anything on their website without having to pay for "privileges" they constantly try to get you to upgrade and they are not clear on the billing processes at all. I urge you to use ANY other survey website.

I really would have given this service zero stars if I could.

Where do I begin?

Let's start with the payment policy. Survey monkey claims to charge a monthly subscription rate. However, when it comes to payment time, you get billed for a whole year and then the payment option is set to renew automatically. At the end of the subscription period, with no warning at all, no invoice nothing, your payment information is exploited in violation of your data protection rights and you get billed. Contacting Survey Monkey to annul the payment, is very difficult to say the very least and when you do finally get hold of someone, you receive a generic one-size fits all email in response to your problem by some fellow probably based in India.

The next thing is that the website is terrible. Very difficult to use to construct surveys, and not at all intuitive or interactive for creating surveys, especially not ones with multiple answer routes.

Getting audience feedback has to be paid for and is not included in the subscription fee!

I could go on but suffice it to say that I really think if you have an alternative, use that and stay away from this crap.

I am not a fan at all of this one!

But give VeryDice a shot if you are like me and are not a fan!

I figured I'd share with you whats been helping me lately! Going from a two family income, down to my income has been a struggle since December, but we've managed. Survey Monkey is misleading in their pricing and charging practices. They also have horrible customer service. I recently visited their site to review the services they provide. The site is set up to invite you to set up a survey and arrange payment at the end. After evaluating the survey features and setting up a preliminary survey, I entered the payment area. After entering my credit card info (BIG MISTAKE), I found out that they wanted a very high fee for an annual service. I was looking for a one time use arrangement. Somehow I clicked a wrong button and ended up with a charge on my credit card for over $1000. I emailed as soon as I saw the charge to explain this was an error and I got the "sorry but we cant help you" response. I explained it was some error (possibly my fault) but that I would not need the annual subscription. Despite repeated emails requesting they do the right thing and reverse the charge, they still refuse. This company is ruthless.

BTW, I went to a competitor's website (SurveySparrow) to do the single survey I originally set out to do. Not only was their pricing and plan info clearly providedd, their customer service was exceptional.

Worst customer service

I have tried to fix a problem and as a paying customer they will not live chat with me or call me. I have been unable to use the surveys for over a month.

Pointless

Why have a survey tool if you can't extract/ export the data. I set up the survey, only to find on testing that I'd have to pay a fee to get my data out in a useful way. Searching for a better tool.

I immediately contacted survey monkey after making a mistake. I thought I could pay for one month but that option is no longer available and instead I accidentally paid for a whole year. That's just one way they get you.
There is no confirmation box prior to the final stage of payment. Pretty much every other online product I use has a confirmation box - 'you're about to buy/purchase $xx' - not survey monkey. Press that button and the payment will be made.
In my immediate request for my money to be returned, I said that a confirmation sentence would have alerted me to the fact I was about to pay $300 and that I would have cancelled the transaction at that point.
There was acknowledgement that "I realise this is a little bit confusing.'
However, having received this response twice now, this must be a standard line "as I understand that this is not a response you were waiting for, please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.' Well, actually, no, there isn't. I JUST WANT MY MONEY BACK you $2billion company!
