I've asked Survey Monkey to cancel our plan several times. On our February American Express bill, we were charged $362.88.
Apparently this is a company which refuses to cancel plans and doesn't employ any humans that one may speak to.
Desperately unhappy with Survey Monkey.
I have emailed them today, 3/19/19.

Yes there are better survey websites out there. But, what I like about surveymonkey is that 1) it has a very simple design and interface and 2) you can access a lot of its product for free. If you need fancier capabilities, you will need to pay, but so far I have been able to get away with just using the free options.

SurveyMonkey.com offers a web-based interface for creating and publishing custom web surveys, and then viewing the results graphically in real time. There are different plans the free plan allows you to collect 100 Responses and ask upto 10 questions in each survey. The free plan also provides detailed graphic reports of the data and email support is available too. However pro and platinum plans are much better. SurveyMonkey is used by many popular brands to conduct surveys and collect data from their targetted audiences.

I had high hopes for SM. But the service that they offer is not very good. They are VERY expensive, and the membership options are shockingly poor. There are way better options out there for less or free. In order to get even some pretty basic services, they really overcharge. Additionally, it's sort of a trap. I have yet to figure out how to cancel my membership. They will let me upgrade (of course), but not downgrade. They won't cancel my subscription either. Customer Service is horrible. I'm appalled. I had high hopes, but this has been incredibly disappointing.

Good idea bad customer service design

Though as a tool surveymonkey deserves a 5/5 (well done designers!), it's policy on refunds is:
a. Devaluating for the product b. Provides a negative customer experience and c. I can assume it is illegal to be charged for services you have requested not to receive and have made no use of.

So surveymonkey management please get your act together we love your tool we hate your policies.

Just a refund when one cancels auto repeat subsciptions would do.
People would then reccomend you as a leggit company and you'd get your 5 stars vs such bad publicity you receive.
And yes your service is worth keeping, it's valuable and has lots of applications (that you have further expanded over the years and well done for that), just don't let it go down due to customer inconsiderate policies.

This one of my oldest and favorites it does pay out it's quick easy and don't waste your time letting you get halfway through a survey only to get dropped. You only get the surveys you will qualify for

So disappointing!

I was slightly excited when Surveymonkey appeared and I learned that with them every time you do a survey $0.50 cents goes towards your favorite charity and I'm all about that!
Well, in roughly I'd guess to be around 3 months now or so I've only donated $4.00 dollars because they never have any surveys for me. I find it very frustrating!

Last month I created a survey that had 15 questions using SurveyMonkey's free plan. Since then they have changed their pricing so that if you have more than 10 questions you pay $35 per month.

I used to love surveyMonkey. I cannot make another similar survey now. I'm just an average Joe, not some big company that can afford another subscription service.

Way to go for the big money grab SurveyMonkey! Average Joe's like me will never use your service again! I recommend you stay away from SurveyMonkey!

Poor Customer relations

Beware of this site Survey monkey their auto renew policy does not notify you when your up for renewal. I found the charge on my card and have not used this service in months due to it's irregular functionality. Upon contacting them about the charge they refused to even discuss the matter of even a partial refund. Rip off artist any reputable company. Would refund ones purchase most exotically when they can see i have not used it. They just close my account they suffer no lose.

So that I can get continuing education credit. After I fill it out-I don't get any verification by email. I will have to track down the people from my last conference-which was out of State, and see if I get credit. I NEED that credit to maintain my licensing and other credentials. They used to use the white sheet/yellow copy system, but now it's gone all High Tech. This would be fine-if it actually worked right.

What a scam

While other businesses have learned that auto-renewal for credit cards with no warning is bad for business, SurveyMonkey has not. They do not tell you before charging your credit card and are unapologetic when telling you that you will not be issued a refund.

Fortunately, they have not kept up with the times or technology and the same service is available elsewhere for less money so moving on is easy. Just don't get sucked in to their auto-renewal racket.

One-Star rating is for the low-to-nonexistent reward for survey takers. Participating for years, participation has earned $95 for designated charity, nothing, never, NADA, no wins for me after hundreds of spins. Bogus, rip-off, hoax, discourages people from continuing to take the surveys.

I do a lot of surveys, mainly to earn money for charity (I assume it really happens). But I also try to answer honestly. But the designers of many of the surveys have no idea what they are doing. Questions such as "Q: When you come to an intersection do you usually turn right or left?" Or this gem: "Q: Do you agree? (a) yes (b) yes" And yes, these are real examples I have encountered.

If those guys would take a moment to think about what information they need to collect it would make it easier for everyone.

I just needed to send out a survey for a class project, and the only way was to subscribe for a month. They automatically make your account auto-renew. The one survey ended up costing just under $100, as I forgot to unsubscribe. Moreover, that was a basic survey, without much of any analytics at all. There doesn't appear to be a way to unsubscribe from a mobile device, and it is not immediately intuitive from a computer. Once you do, they try to guilt you into staying. Quite a disgusting greedy company in my opinion.

I have used Survey Monkey twice now and have had frustrations both times. The first was because I hired them to run two surveys and could not get access to my second survey's data unless I subscribed to a monthly plan. They admitted the wording is unclear in the sign up process and gave me seven days to analyze my date without having to subscribe to a monthly plan.
The second and last time was due my launching a survey and immediately noticing that something was wrong as my respondents were only answering one of six questions. I immediately tried to find a contact number or email address for support on their website to get this corrected. After several minutes and a lot of clicking, I found a way to fill out a feedback form through their sales page. That was 14 hours ago and no response and now my survey is almost finished as incomplete as it is and I feel I wasted $300. I will not use them again.

Run away fast!
March 20, 2020

I purchased this program for 12 months at almost 7k. I explained I only wanted 12 months and I had a marketer team working in our site and that they would be taking over marketing. Now we are 12 months past and they are billing me 7k again saying it is due in full immediately as they failed to cancel the subscription. They then said they tried to contact me in Jan and Feb (I have no calls or emails from them at all in 2020 prior to demanding 7k). The kicker is I never used their program as marketing started the next week and have their own subscriptions. So they pocketed 7k for nothing and now want another 7k. Run from this company! Complete dishonesty in billing. And they refuse to correct it even with written proof you only agreed to 12 months and someone else was taking over.

Disappointed...
July 13, 2017

After using the free tool, we upgraded by paying almost $300 a month to get skip logic. But all of their surveys are branded - you can't take out their marketing slogan at the end of the survey, you can't take someone to another page after they complete the survey. If I had to do it again, i would look for another tool, and definitely will not be renewing (although now I have to wait a year).

STAY AWAY AT ALL COST

The navigation is terrible. Their prices are far too expensive for what you get. You have to pay a premium just to talk to someone which is absurd. Their question "logic" stinks because it rarely works correctly. Its buggy three are much better programs on the market.

I have two accounts, Basic and Pro under the same email address. I cannot get into the Pro account, it keeps diverting me back to basic, so I am paying for a Pro Plan I cannot get to. For several months I have tried every avenue available on their website and even called (left messages) with no response to calls and no help from tech support email responses. Pro is a reasonably good survey tool but once they have you paying, good luck in getting help or even cancelling your paid subscription. They are a Black Hole... you can send them emails and call them, but nothing gets out.

No Star. I think I had to press one star to submit this. But Survey Monkey does not deserve any stars. I just paid $300 to Survey Monkey for their "Gold" Plan of service. After failing to resolve a significant problem online, I have been completely unable to get any help. There is no posted phone number, and their promise to get back with an answer to questions within one hour is a total joke! Buyer Beware!
