Horrible!
May 4, 2022

Most of my plants came very early, well before I could get outside to plant them. Most were dead or dying. I have requested a refund 7x now and I just keep getting the run around. Totally pathetic, waste of money. I tried to add a picture of 3 dead perinial sunflowers but the pic is too big... they were less than 3 inches, about as thick as a charging cord for your phone and very crispy dead.

Did not ship product. I ordered to hardy perennials on December 29th 2021 for Zones 7a. Per the company's website orders to this zone shipments were to start in February. April 29th, after numerous attempts to communicate with the company I got an email stating that the company did not have the product and as a result would not ship until potentially the end of May. Meanwhile, in that zip code, local stores are selling full plants to be planted immediately. This is clearly a "Take Their Money" plan as they did not have secured product and did not deliver the products that they never had in stock. There is no reason to purchase from this company.

Dead plants
March 30, 2022

Ordered $65.00 worth of plants. They spent a week traveling all around me in a FedEx truck. One had nothing but dirt, one had one dead root system in dried dirt and the 3rd was half dead. Will never order from them again

Still Waiting
June 28, 2022

Spring Hill was contacted in March of 2021 and one item was sent. The other--backordered. But it will be mailed in May of 2022. I contacted them. Lame excuses like your plant is still backordered but our staff has been so busy and Covid has been a problem. Well if my plant is backordered then they are not trying to mail it to me but can't because they are so busy. Then, I was issued a gift certificate in the amount. I ordered the plant again. May came and went. I emailed several times. I get a notice that the plant is on its way. But it doesn't show up. Finally a couple of weeks ago--it's now June of 2022 the plant arrives--dead. I was issued another replacement gift certificate whereupon I email the company and said I am exhausted dealing with this company and I want a refund. I finally got the refund. Not fun. Never again.

Never shipped
June 1, 2022

I bought plants in March. They said they would ship around late April/ start of May. They kept pushing back the ship date. I finally canceled the order in June when my new ship date turned into late June/early July.

Terrible plants
June 4, 2022

I recently ordered a number of ornamental grasses. They were fairly expensive, especially for what I got. They came in a plastic bag with about a tablespoon of dry potting soil in the bag with them. Most of them looked dead when I planted them, but planted them anyway. Of course, they never recovered. They did sent me some replacement plants, but they looked as bad as the first ones did. And now they are ALL dead. I will never order from here again.

Dissatisfied
August 3, 2022

I ordered buy 1 get 1 for $1. I received the most of the plants in late June way past the time for planting. Because I was. I. the middle of remodeling by the I got them I wasn't able to plant. Planted. Them in containers and they have died out. Then I received a bill charging.me full price for all. Since I'm on a fixed income trying.to find 183.00 is hard to do. I called customer service. And. They said they would send the concern up. Still waiting.to hear how much I haveto pay for plants that are dead/dying or to late to plant. I plant my annuals on mothers day weekend not late June.

Do yourself a favor and shop ANYWHERE else. They intice you with stolen pictures and send you plants that other customers refuse to accept. Too bad if you have a issue with the condition in which they arrive. You WILL be throwing your money away.

I ordered plants to be shipped to the northeast. Every other online plant company uses zip codes and ships in spring. Springhill shipped plants in winter during snow season. I received my spring perennial plants during March snow season. I inquired by email for reshipment and they couldn't get my name straight even though it was in the email. I emailed several times regarding reshipment and they didn't give me a shipment date. I called their number (not an 800 number) because they could not give me information via email.
They have a local number but their calling center is in the Philippines. They can't even hire an American to answer the phones. An Ohio company won't even hire locals to answer phones.
I am still waiting for plants. Since I haven't gotten viable plants that could be planted I have no idea if the quality of the plants is as bad as their customer service.

I should have red the reviews on this place first before ordering. I ordered in Jan 2022 and another order both orders totaled around 268.00 several difference plants. First e mail all backordered, second third e mail will not be shipped until April? I was able to cancel a part of the order for 29.00 some olive trees that were not going to be shipped until May 2022. They take the money out of your account then say backordered. I am still awaiting a refund. Nothing yet, I have filed a dispute with my bank, everytime you call you get a call center out of the USA and they know nothing about your order. I also contacted the BBB of Ohio and they have several hundred complaints. They also own Gardens Alive nd Gurneys Nursery do not purchase from them.

I can't tell you how perplexed and disappointed I have been with my order from this company.
The first part of the order (dormant root balls) arrived when we still had two feet of snow on the ground- way before they should have reasonably been sent. I had no-where to put them, but did my best by potting them up in the garage, and will now have to transplant them again. A month later, neither have thus far shown any signs of life.
The second part of my order, a clematis, arrived after a circuitous route through the midwest after leaving Ohio, traveling for ten days to reach me in Chicago (?) After its rigorous travels it arrived yellow and dry, quite spindly, and the stem was snapped. I would consider the plant a "seedling" at best. I planted it anyway hoping that it would come up from the roots. No signs of life yet,
My third delivery arrived on Saturday, gloriosa lily bulbs, cavalierly thrown into a plastic bag with no protection whatever. They did not survive the rigors of the US postal systems so unprotected, and are smashed mush.

The items I chose were interesting things I can not get at the local garden centers, and so I purchased from Springhill although their prices were at a premium from what I can get locally. But I'm going back to the local garden centers going forward.
I contacted Springhill, and have received no response. I might have just as well flushed that $100 down the toilet.
Don't just walk... RUN!

I had to cancel most of one order (seven plants canceled) because the shipping date was delayed so long that it was too late to plant bare root specimens here. The bare root roses I did receive were shipped with no moist material around the roots (packing the roots with moist newspaper, moss or something similar is standard practice for growers), and they were slipped into in a loose, unsealed plastic bag, inside a shipping carton with no padding. The plants had advanced sprouting that was blanched from lack of sunlight, so they must have been held in a warehouse for some time prior to shipping. One plant had several roughly broken major roots that were clearly old wounds not from shipping. One of the broken roots was rotting. That plant never should have shipped out.

BTW, the only reason to not pack the roots with something to keep them moist is to save on shipping cost. Water adds weight. So the company would rather risk shipping compromised plant stock than pay a bit more to pack it properly.

Not happy. Not buying plants from this company again.

I have gotten some remarkably poor quality plant stock from Spring Hill over the years, but they always make the situation right when a customer complains. They will either ship out a better plant, or refund your money if the plant is diseased or not going to survive for some reason. So they get points to for that. But this year I succumbed to a SH email offer that, I believe, purposely misled buyers. In their promotional email they claimed they had a limited number of premium size bare root plants available. They were almost twice the price of standard stock, but the photos were promising. I ordered several, and they gave me an expected ship date. A few weeks after that date had come and gone, and I had not heard from Spring Hill, I look up my order in their website and see that all of my "limited availability" plants are backordered, by several weeks. So this was not stock they had on hand, and it was not stock that was limited availability. It's just normal bare root plants that they are ordering from the usual sources. The entire ad pitch was BS. I'll be interested to see what they finally send out, and whether it is in any way premium plant stock. I don't have high expectations at this point.

Ordered and received mostly dead plants. Bare root plants were just a stick with no roots. Ordered using a "replacement certificate" and the shipment was split in two. Amounts did not add up to the certificate value. Called and they kept telling me I used it all but the numbers didn't add up and they couldn't understand that. Was issued a replacement certificate for 2 more plants, ordered using that and my AmEx for the remainder. AmEx was charged but the order didn't show up on their site. Called in and the lady told me there was no order but one of the plants I ordered was no longer in my cart. Offended her horribly by using the word damn in a sentence expressing my frustration. Asked for a supervisor and he kept telling me I did something wrong when ordering. If I didn't complete the order, how did my AmEx get charged? First attempt this year at ordering plants online, now my local nursery will have ALL my business. NEVER order anything from SpringHill Nurseries or their associated companies!

Guarantte is a joke
March 9, 2022

I order trees last spring (4/21 & 5/21) Seven of the ten trees died, mainly due to very late slow shipping. I called to have them replace in 8/21 and was told, even though they had the trees, I could not get replacement until spring and that they would issue a "replacement certificate" even though I told her I didn't want a credit certificate. She told me to call in Feb/Mar of '22 and have the certificates cancelled and have the trees replaced. I called 3/22 and was told I would have to reorder using the "replacement certificate" credit. I could not have the trees replaced and the certificates could not be cancelled. As much as it sounds reasonable the certificates do not refund shipping, meaning a reorder with the certificates will mean paying shipping again.
SpringHill use to be a good reputable company, not anymore. They're shipping very poor nursery stock and you're stuck to have to order from them again if you have any hopes of retrieving any of your money. My tree order was $178.63 plus shipping.

On April 1st I placed an order, that said all of the plants I wanted were available, but then I saw that the shipping date was not until May 2nd. I was a little disappointed about that but thought maybe it was because of the weather. On May 4th I decided to check tracking to find out when it would arrive. The date got pushed back until May 22nd. I called to complain and ask why if the items were available was the date pushed back? She said because of the planting date in my area. Which was bull because I already had dahlias up and growing that I had also ordered from another company on April 1st. When I said I wanted to cancel my order she said they would put a rush on it. Three days later a box arrived on my doorstep, but when I opened it there was only 1 dahlia in the box that was supposed to have more dahlias and other plants. I just noticed on the invoice that all of the other plants would arrive by May 31. I just called and they said it is now pushed back until June 7th. My other dahlias will have set blossoms by now. I had hoped this might be a new go to place to buy online plants, but this is ridiculous.
