SCAM BEWARE! Company charges credit card without authorization and will not refund when it is brought to their attention. I signed up for the website on August 4,2020 for the $2.99 plan. Immediately on August 4,2020 I canceled my account when the product did not work as intended or advertised. I received a confirmation that my account was canceled on August 4,2020. Two days later on my credit card statement I see a charge for $35.88 from them?! I reached out to customer service on the matter and they told me they could not find my account?!?!?!? I then went back to Smilebox and logged into my account to confirm that I do still have an account. I let the customer service rep know all my credentials for the account THREE times and she still was unable to help in anyway. They have no live agents to talk to and all things are done through email. This company is a scam, please trust when people say "Buyer beware you will be charged more than what you wanted to pay." They falsely advertise pricing for a faulty product.
Have used this program for years. They always have so many wonderful designs to choose from. Very easy to use. I would recommend this to anyone.
I tried to change my email cause i realized it was a typo. Tried to change it to **@gmail.com, but it would not allow me. I ordered the $50.00 Premium and got charged $139.99 PRO Services. I got charged three times the amount for a service i paid for and, I even tried to download my creation but it would just circle. They say the dont do refunds but i never requested the Pro Account. Buyer beware you will be charge more than u request to buy.
I used to love the older version of Smilebox which I used for years. With this new online version, my past creations have all disappeared, it is just NOT user friendly at all and I've just wasted 2 hours trying to upload and organize photos. Plus their customer service used to be efficient but now I get no reply at all, when my suscription has just been automatically renewed... Not a happy camper...
This company is false advertising. It has two boxes you can pick from $5.00 and $9.99. It is unclear that once you select the $5.00 box your card will be charge $59.99 yearly. I thought my card will be charge $5.00. The company don't have phone number you can called, you can only email them.
I signed up to create a graduation slideshow and nothing worked properly. Their site is misleading, they advertise $5.00 a month but then charge you for the year. I emailed telling them the site didn't offer what I wanted it to offer and I received notice that they canceled my account and nothing else. After looking more closely I discovered they will not refund my account and that's their policy. They didn't email instead I received notice from Pay Pal. If I loved the video, I would be willing to stick with it but the video didn't work as it's supposed to. Terrible company, awful customer service... they make money by misleading the customer!
Signed up for a subscription thinking that I would be charged monthly (and would be able to cancel in a few months). Gave them my credit card info and they charged me over $80 (annual premium subscription price) without making it clear that I had to pay for the entire year of usage up front.
Also, the program is definitely not worth the money. There are better programs for creating cards/slideshows out there.
They will charge you a full year right off the bat! Try to cancel and they will not refund! They charge the next year even though I canceled and they refuse to refund me again! Worst business!
I got smilebox.com in May 2019 paid 47.88 never used it. June 2019 canceled it. Then May 2020 my credit card was charged 50.94. I never used this never gave them permission to bill my card. And the bank did not care. That is what happens to the elderly. You can delete smilebox.com and they will still bill your credit card. You can call them all you want, they no longer offer phone support. The only thing i know to do now is cancel my credit card.
This was the worst experience I have had. I made the invitation and loved it! I bought the $5/month membership and was never even able to share with facebook or anything else. I spent over $60 to use this app and count even share my creation. So now I am out $60 and NO ONE is returning my emails and concerns to even trouble shoot and try to share it. It simply doesn't work and no one seems to care to help me. Absolutely ridiculous how hard it has been to try and just have someone help me. I do not suggest at all!

The video sent to the recipient also loads slowly which makes this all the more unpleasant. You won't get anything worthwhile out of this product. It is a complete waste of time, effort, and money. Someone needs to shut them down. There UI is ok but it seems to me even the most basic objective of their paid services is not met.
This company is absolutely horrible. They need to be shut down and investigated. Not only do they false advertise but then their programs don't even work after countless hours of work you wont even end up with ta slideshow.
Wife purchased premium account for purpose of creating graduation presentation. After loading the photos and music plays very inconsistently. Cover takes 1:45 minutes. You cannot set times for individual slides. At the first paid tier you cannot display full screen or download. Viewing the code of a shared linked it had profile details including creator's gender/dob not very private. Turned out to be a massive waste of tine for our purpose. Back to powerpoint.
Beware - they are charging you for the full year even though the ad says it's monthly. No free trials. I thought I was paying $5 to give it a try and - ta-dam - I have a charge of $59.99 for the full year on my card! I contacted them 3 times and absolutely no response. The quality is extremely low - you cannot see whom you shared your postcards with after sending them. It creates a new duplicate every time you open it, not even make changes. So, the service is not even usable for my needs. Trying to create a case and get a refund through my bank now. Stay away from these fraudsters!
Unless you want to pay $59.99 for a year, don't sign up! I thought I was paying $5 to try it out for a month, but when it charged me, it was $59.99! And worse than that, they haven't refunded my money when I have asked them 4x! Bad business practices for sure. I will be telling everyone I know, NOT to use smilebox for online cards.
The product itself is wonderful but I paid for a month and they could not find my account. I sent the copy of the money paid for with a credit card. I called and they wanted the same information send over and over... nothing was resolved. I worked on a huge 70th birthday celebration slideshow and was not able to fully use Smilebox to finish the project. It was a waste of my time talking to them... they take the money and don't deliver. It use to be good not it's a rip off. Poor poor support.
I have had a smilebox account for a long time and used it without much difficulty and made lots of grandmas happy. This year I could log in one time after several efforts. I uploaded one hundred photos, but when I tried to start putting the slideshow together I had a "connectivity problem". I got desperate and thought ok, I will sign up for the online account and simply move everything from one account to the other (same email address and log in?) NO. After attempts I found a blog that said they are two separate companies, no transferability whatsoever. Why? I also attempted to sign up for one month, but was just billed for an annual subscription. Why? This company has been lovely for a long time. Why is the process now set up to be so complicated and hard to sort out?
DO NOT sign up for the service... They will not cancel your subscription even after you repeatedly cancel the service!
I spent many hours trying to do a slideshow. Very difficult and no support and directions are misleading. They are deliberate in how they confuse you or trick you to upgrading. Buyer beware.
So I've just signed up and wanted to pay a $5 monthly fee. I could see that it was deliberately confusing and obviously trying to get you to check the box for the annual fee so I looked at it closely to make sure only $5 would be taken out of my account. I've just checked and $9.99 has been taken. Not a great start and certainly doesn't inspire confidence that this is a company I can trust.
