I have been using Send my Bag for a number of years. I frequently travel to see family overseas for extended time. Send my Bag has been a life saver. As an older traveler I am able to save time, money and trouble going through airports. My bags have never been delayed or damaged and I can arrive at my destination with all of my belongings safe and sound.

The only aspect of this company's service was that I had to send a letter of explanation about why I was not flying out to Italy with the bags I was sending. Interesting when the company is called Send my Bag.

Conflicting information from company and delivery service, incorrect information every time, and huge amounts of time wasted sitting for a bag that doesn't show up.
Customs clearance presented on site on 5th. Then informed it hasn't cleared customs on 7th, then informed it has on 7th, then it hasn't on 8th. Delivery date meant to be 7th morning, then 7th afternoon, then there was a systems issue. Then 8th morning, then suddently they had no idea where the bag was, then 8th evening - still no show. Then 9th morning, then 9th afternoon informed I'd accepted to receive delivery th 10th (untrue - never spoke to them). You're basically supposed to sit at home a whole business week for your bag to maybe show up one day, with no real/reliable tracking. I wouldn't use nor recommend this service unless you sit and work from home all day with no other plans in life.
I chose this company to send my moving luggage from Canada to Mexico. There were only four boxes of personal effects (clothes, shoes, kitchen accessories and some toys).
I followed all Send my bag rules and recommendations, filled out the forms, and packed everything according to their guidelines. I also paid insurance coverage in case of loss of luggage.
Upon arrival in Mexico, the local customs requested a document that I had never heard of, and that apparently I had to process before leaving Canada. Without this document, I could not recover my things, and there's no way to get it now.
When I asked the Send my bag team for help, they only told me that I should have thoroughly investigated the local customs guidelines, and explained that I did need the document, thus confirming that they knew this could happen but never warned me.
If I'm lucky I'll be able to recover one of the four boxes I sent. Send my bag refuses to answer for the rest of the things despite the fact that I paid for the insurance (and service) and that my belongings are clearly unrecoverable, as the very terms of Send my bag indicate.
If any attorneys read this, I'm open to recommendations.
Great communication. The bag was delivered on time. All went as expected from this excellent company.
I recently moved from city to country. When I lived in metropolitan area, I was able to use this service often. Now I have to travel 4 hours one way to leave my bag with a friend in order to get it picked up. This gives me an excuse to visit with friend, but the drive is hard for a 70 yr old, especially when you add on the return trip, another 4 hours.
The whole experience was really quick and easy. The instructions were very thorough and clear. My bag was picked up on the day I requested and arrived at its destination within a couple of days.

Brilliant being able to send stuff home. The process was extremely easy! Of cause when your doing all the paperwork it's a daunting but remember that's the customs requirement.
I laminated the paperwork and stuck it on the case so a bit of prep is required.
I couldn't believe it was picked up on time and delivered early! I was kept informed all the time. Everything thing was perfect.

I looked at the cost of sending a suitcase by courier or Royal Mail, and it seemed to be 50-100% higher than the SendMyBag charge. Arranging delivery was quick and easy, and it was great that I didn't have to put my suitcase in a box or whatever. Delivery was quicker than advertised - I paid for standard delivery (estimated 3 days) but I'm sure it was delivered the next day.
1. Was not told I needed to be present in the country where I was sending the bag
2. Customer service is shocking. They can't provide any information other than sending you to talk to DHL (not easy to do). They provide 0 extra service - so just send your stuff with DHL in the first place.
The pickup and delivery were perfect on time and very kind personnel.

Answer: Scam, additional charges added, no explanation and letters of demand following, this is not an ethical business.
Answer: Avoid sendmybag if you can Would give a negative rating if I could. Had 2 bags delivered, they lost one and damaged the other. On top of that are now refusing to process a claim. I have read other reviews to know they do this on a regular basis. Companies like this shouldn't be allowed to operate. 0 marks for doing there job and a definite negative on customer support.

We provide services to hundreds of destinations worldwide via thousands of routes, on some routes Send My Bag's customs team can do everything on the customer's behalf, on other routes the destination requires direct involvement from the customer.
We make every effort to be upfront about any customer requirements and Canada is clearly flagged as a 'self clearance' destination.
When sending UK > Canada, this alert shows at every stage of the order: "By continuing you agree you have read and understood the self-clearance customs information on our Canada information page. This route is not suitable for holiday baggage and you may be required to personally visit a customs office to complete clearance.". This alert must also be ticked as acknowledged before an order can be placed.

Further alerts regarding the customer's need to engage directly with customs (via the delivery courier) in Canada also appear in other places during the booking process.
