They think it is acceptable to deliver a perishable food item 1 week in advance. And their response was to just ask the recipient to store in the the refrigerator for 1 week before opening. I requested the owner to call me directly but they never did.
For my nephew's graduation, I ordered a Chocolate Chip Bundt Cake w/Fudge Frosting, Graduation Music, and Candy Kaboom. It did not arrive on graduation date as planned, but arrived 4 days later (Fedex). I ordered 1 and my nephew received 2 boxes... both had items all in the box that were melted. This is Texas, they should know better and provide dry ice or something else to protect the food and chocolate, and candy. Super late and melted... when I called them for a refund they had the nerve to ask me for photos... they ended up fully refunding me. I do not recommend buying from them at all, poor service and poor quality. At least customer support refunded me.
I wished I had seen these reviews before I ordered a cake. Initially I thought it's a cute idea- but the birthday cake arrived two days early even though I paid a higher price for a delivery on a specific date. I did reach out to the customer service and the answer was that they can't control the delivery date. In my option they should not let customers pay a higher price for an exact date if they can not control it.
Altogether it was a disappointing experience: a very high price for a small cake on the wrong date.
The worst company! DO NOT ORDER if you want on a specific day. My twins are away at college. I ordered so they would have something to open on their birthday. Both cakes got delivered to the 2 different schools early! Customer service couldn't give a rats $#*!. Now they have nothing to open. Why on earth ask me for the birthdate and the day I want to have it delivered? AND they use FedEx which can and will deliver on a specific day. Awful, I feel horrible for my twins. I wanted something fun and not just mail them a gift that they'll open when they come home in a week. Customer service is all about the details. This company doesn't care! DO NOT ORDER!
The day before Valentine's Day I was searching for something different to send to my daughter (in college) this year and was surprised to find the Send-A-Cake website. After reading the reviews and researching the products, I decided to place an overnight order. Once the order was processed on my credit card, my inbox was immediately populated with a copy of the transaction and tracking number of the package which led me to believe this was a legitimate company. However, from that moment on nothing happened with the order. I reviewed the tracking number several times into late evening with no response. When I awoke this morning, I checked the tracking of my package, and nothing was showing. I became concerned and called the company. After 30 minutes of holding to get someone from customer service, I was told there was a problem with the order. The Send-a-box customer service rep that goes by the name of John P. Explained to me that FedEx was unable to get all the orders that needed to be sent out overnight and mine didn't make the cut to be shipped. I mentioned that no one had contacted me or sent any notification that would have allowed me to seek other options. Today is Valentine's Day. My daughter's order is dead in the water. I think this company is dead in the water and I will never purchase anything from them again. Very simply, if they can fumble the ball on the most important day of the year then how can I trust that Send-a-Box will deliver in the future. I would highly recommend that you avoid buying anything from Send-a-box. It's a disaster waiting to happen.

I ordered a cake last year that never got delivered. It took me forever to verify that with customer service. It never got there. They refunded my money but I told them they should refund my money and send a cake. They would not do that. I decided to give them another try and was supposed to have another cake delivered yesterday that is still not there. It defeated the whole purpose of why I sent the cake. If this one does not show up I'm going to call the Better Business Bureau
I expected more. I ordered a cake for my bf milestone birthday. I paid extra for overnight, my fault I waited to long. My page says thank you for your order check email for confirmation. Email says confirmed and gives order #. Day arrived for delivery, check in with sister nothing. So I called to find out what was going on. They tell me in standard scripted response my order was canceled. What do you mean I didn't cancel it my card was charged. Apparently my card declined even though everything on my end said approved. I get it this happens it can be fixed, I was not contacted, no email, no sms, I'm told they called I have no missed calls or voice mail. I'm so disappointed words just can't say. DO BETTER.
I wish I would've read one of these reviews saying the packages arrived two days early. I just got two packages that arrived two days early and completely ruined the surprise. Over 100° here as well where they left the package is laying.
And,
They won't answer phone calls or return emails…needless to say I won't be recommending or using them again.
Buyer beware
I have used the company twice. The first time I sent a box to a coworker. I paid for expedited shipping and was nervous about whether it would arrive on time but it did and she was delighted with it.
So I was very comfortable doing the same for my son's birthday. However his box never arrived. I was so excited anticipating his reaction and then so disappointed When I contacted the company they insisted that it had been delivered. I have no idea where it was delivered but it wasn't to the right address. So now I'm out nearly $100, the burden is mine to investigate what Fed Ex did with the box, and my son didn't get a birthday greeting from me
It seems as though my initial trepidation was correct. 50/50 chances are not good enough in this economy. I wo t be using them again
I received the cake on my birthday from my friend. It was beautiful and the butterflies worked wonderfully. The silk flowers were beautiful. But…. The cake? It was terrible, dry, hard, had no moisture and I believe was just not wrapped correctly and air got in under the dome. It was not edible, and I almost flipped my lid when I looked to see how much it cost. Definitely NOT worth that, no where near that. I have not told the person who sent it to me, but I need to so she thinks twice about it next time.
Ordered a birthday explosion cake, when asked for a delivery date I selected May 2nd being my father's birthday. There was no block dates listed just May 2nd promised delivery.
Well May 2nd came and went it is now the 5th and still no cake.
I have sent numerous emails stating this and the response I've gotten is that the order confirmation stated delivery between 5/2-5/7? That's after payment and order placed not prior to placing order in which I would have decided not to order because a birth"DAY" is on that day. Who would pay for a surprise a week later. Not to mention he was only at the address I sent it until the 3rd. No refund basically told me to screw.
Very shady business practices to give you a block date after payment opposed to being up front prior! Will never order again and warning all that if you want a specific date you will be disappointed and out $88 or more just like me.
I had a terrible experience with this company. Ordered a gift to be delivered on Nov 7 and on the 8th was still not there, called customer service and they just said FedEx was having delays in the area. The prices for thisvitems are not cheap and in addition the charge an astronomical price for delivery. Please stay away, it's not worth the courage you will get.
It's a cute idea, i admit. But honestly i would rather have received flowers. The butterflies are cute, but the "cake" in just purely awful. Basically this is an overpriced mess.
The Harry Potter explosion box was nice and the person it was bought for enjoyed the surprise. Unfortunately, the cake came three days later than the date selected and in the late afternoon. I reached out to customer service after noticing tracking would not have the cake arrive on the 5th as selected, and the response I received stated there is a 5-day window from the date that you can expect delivery (when choosing UPS ground). Aside from that, we are in Florida and it appears the delivery came from the Pacific Northwest area. As such, and unfortunately, by the time the cake box was opened, the cake looked like a melted chocolate blob. Keep in mind, the cake experience in not relatively cheap and it appears you are mainly paying for the explosion box as opposed to a cake. In my opinion, the advertising videos are a bit misleading as to the size of the cake (more or less the size of a cupcake).
Ordered from Send A Cake for my daughter's birthday. Package to arrive on her birthday--awesome. Birthday came and went with the tracker showing that her package was still going to arrive on her birthday, 6 days later and still no package, still showing arriving by her (past) birthday. Send a Cake gave a 50% refund but it does not matter if the package is not received. Also, purchase Rout insurance but was told that it did not apply. Use another company.,
We don't order the cake for the cake. We order it for the surprise. This year only two bats flew out actually rolled out and they were delayed. Company offered a $20 credit with an apology. If this doesn't normally happen, they should've credited the whole thing.
I ordered two cakes from Send a Cake and their website was very misleading. I selected the candy surprise and the paid extra for butterflies, thinking it would have both. Apparently it negates the candy. I paid extra for a card that is a pop up but blank, the personal message it's on it. The cake is soooo tiny! I should have sent a cookie basket or something else for this price!
Although the idea is lovely and the product looks great on their web, if you need a gift sent anywhere near a holiday like Valentine's Day you are $#*! out of luck. Needed something delivered on the 11th, but it's too close to Valentine's which means the kid could receive it any day between his birthday and three days later. I don't understand why, but ok. Also, their web says for best customer service email. Once you receive their reply it states that it'll take them 24-48hours to get back to you. So you're better off calling and waiting 20 mins.
Incredibly bad customer service and overall experience. The cake did not show up. I contacted customer service and after quite a bit of back and forth they informed me that the cake went to the wrong address, it went to the wrong state. They birthday had already passed, but I said if they could still send one, that would be fine or I'd take a refund. They said they do not take responsibility for packages sent to the wrong address so they would not give a refund nor would they send a new cake! They said hopefully if the person who got the cake, contacts them so maybe I could go there and get the cake myself! This has to be the craziest thing I ever heard, they want me to fly or drive to another state to get the cake? They said or I could BUY another cake! I no longer trust this company if this is how they treat their customers. I can not stress enough to avoid this company.
I got this for a surprise. They delivered to the wrong address. I tried to let them know but they weren't replying until I was being snarky. They didn't send a replacement cake nor did I get any refund. It all seems sketchy too. Do yourself a favor and don't order from here.
Answer: Terrible Customer service. They provide a phone number but I've ben on hold for a least an hour (two different days) and they never pick up. When you tap to leave a message... the mailbox if full. Their email responses I think are AI. There is no name at the bottom and they are not helpful.
Answer: If you wind them up properly and put them in the place in the box where they were originally put. Probably won't work as well as when you first got it from the company though.
