They have charged me for more than a year despite cancelling my subscription and it does not show an account if i want to change the password or anything. THEY KEPT CHARGING ME DESPITE REPEATED REQUESTS! DESPITE HAVING TO SHOW NO ACCOUNT!
REFUND MY MONEY!
My payment card has expired, but for a month now, I haven't been able to update my payment details. I've had about 7 support tickets, some of them claiming the issue has been "resolved". It hasn't.
Oh no! Thank you for letting us know and I apologize for the delay in response! We currently have a backlog of tickets, which is delaying our support response time. Additionally, all duplicate emails are merged into one so we can ensure we address all of your concerns at once when we answer your email. However, we can absolutely help escalate this to the top of the queue so we can help you sooner. Please update here with your ticket number and we'll use that to find your ticket and get back to you ASAP
I didn't even use it during the "free trial" and cancelled well before the end date.
Don't know how I'm going to get the charges to stop! Can anyone help me?!
Hi there! A member of our support team can definitely look into this for you. Please email us at help@scribd.com, then update your review with your ticket number and a member of our team will reach out to you shortly. Thanks!
I've cancelled my "subscription" after the "free trial" and i noticed that they are still charging! Support ticket #*******. I ask you to revert all charges made and cancel my subscription.
Hi Cagkan, I'm sorry about that! According to your ticket number, it looks as though your account wasn't actually canceled, which is why you were charged. The agent in charge of your ticket has canceled your account and issued you a refund.
Best,
JF
My experience with Scribd has been appalling, only use this service if you want to be robbed.
I have numerous complaints:
1. Not obvious or easy to cancel the subscription
2. After cancelling the subscription Scribd continued to take money from my account,
3. After contacting them regarding the money being taken despite the fact that I had cancelled the subscription, they STILL DIDN'T STOP TAKING MONEY FROM MY ACCOUNT
4. After finally getting ONE payment back as a 'refund' this was not for the amount that was actually taken from my account, I am still left out of pocket.
This is a scam, steer clear
Hi there! We are more than happy to help you with this. Please email us at help@scribd.com, then update your review with your new ticket number and a member of our team will reach out to you shortly to escalate your case. Thanks!
I tried to download a document, and it said that I need to upload 5 documents to be able to download the one I wanted. After uploading all five, it jumped to another web which shows not working. I went back and then it said to upload 3 documents. I did so and the same thing happened again. Then when I went back again it said to upload 1 document... Well, then I realized that I was scammed. This web got all the doc I uploaded and I gained nothing. Well well well... Now I just want to know how to report it :)
We're sorry for the trouble. Our team is currently investigating a known issue that our users are facing surrounding upload/download issues. Please use this link to create your ticket so we can connect you with our support team for further assistance: http://bit.ly/social-support-help

ScribD has the WORST customer service when you are trying to unsubscribe or rectify an issue! I signed up for a "free trial," was charged anyway, I fought with them about it but they refused to refund me. But that's not the big issue, the issue is that they take SO LONG to respond (days turns into weeks!). So since I was charged for an additional month, the responses to rectify the issue took the WHOLE MONTH and I didn't get to use their service. So I basically paid for a month for NOTHING. Their responses are often nonsensical and come from different customer service agents who are NOT reading the history of the conversation repeating things. VERY FRUSTRATING and I let them know several times to please read the thread before responding. I told them that they are the worst and I don't even care about the money any more but I'll make sure to warn everyone about their shenanigans!
Hi Gigi, thank you for providing your feedback. We're truly sorry for the frustrating experience and the delay in initially responding. Our support staff is encountering a bit of a delay due to increased requests. It seems that there has been a little bit of confusion in a support ticket we found of yours. We've sent you a follow-up ticket to hopefully clarify the situation here. Please check your messages for more information regarding our policy and how our premium subscription works. Thanks! -AR
I joined on the basis of a book they claimed to have which was quite rare.
They didn't actually have so I tried many times to cancel membership. I then tried to delete membership and was told I could not on the basis of having an active membership. I though having it cancelled would be enough.
However, months later I was charged $71 on my paypal for yearly membership. I initiated an unauthorised complaint with paypal. I went to scribd tried to cancel subscription yet again and delete membership. Same result as before.
I then complained to scribd on their customer service page only to then find it case closed with no communication with me whatsoever. I went back to paypal to find they tried to charge me again. Fortunately this time paypal blocked it.
I have initiated more complaints on their customer service page requesting a refund. I am waiting for paypal to resolve an unauthorised payment/fraud complaint to see if I can get my money back there.
This is a scam operation with dishonest business practices, traps to prevent one leaving and, essentially practices fraud, charging more than once for the same subscription I did not want anyway and advertising books it does not actually have. (I think it has a system on google where it directs you there for book searches regardless of whether they actually have it.)
Stay away at all costs!
Update: Paypal found in my favour and I have now been refunded.
I'm on week 3 of no resolution and I'm frustrated to tears. No matter what I do, my voice is not heard. I'm a college student that lost my job during covid. I've used all my savings to take care of my family, what little money I have, I need. I signed up for a free trial to look at one book related to a school project and I cancelled the subscription afterwards, or so I thought. Then I become sick and did not closely look at my credit card bills. I never got any emails asking if I wanted to be subscribed and no reminders. In all the months I was subscribed to scribd, I only got one email that looked like a spam email asking to rate my satisfaction with Scribd. There is no mention in this email about being signed up for a subscription. To my horror one day, I noticed a billing for scrubs and I think, what on earth is Scribd?! Scribd has been charging my credit card for months and refuses to refund me these months of an unused subscription. The customer service person told me that they can see that I never accessed the site. They refunded 1 month but I need all my money back. A multi million dollar company took what little money I have and won't give it back. They offered me a free trial and did not make it clear once you took advantage of the tree trial and unsuccessfully unsubscribe that you were in fact subscribed. No emails were sent notifying my that I was subscribed. They then made a policy in which they refuse to refund your money.
Hi Jaclyn, we're sorry for the frustrating experience. We are unable to process refunds outside of our 30-day Refund Policy guidelines (https://support.scribd.com/hc/articles/210133986) due to limits that are set entirely by our payment processor's parameters. To put it simply, we are physically unable to access or edit transactions that are older than 30 days. We apologize for any inconvenience that this causes. However, we can confirm that your subscription has been canceled successfully and you will not be charged again as we cannot bill an account that's no longer rendering services with us. Thanks for your understanding here, and have a wonderful day!
Your cancelation procedure is obviously ment to trick people (me) into believing one is ready canceling when there is more steps to go, more buttons to click. 5-6 months I payed extra due to believing I had already canceled the membership. Foolish. /Fredrik Linander
Hi Fredrik,

Last year by error I try this suscripción and when I try to cancel they are always a troubled. One year later when I believe this nightmare is gone I see they Withrow money from my account. I can believe I have to Cancel my Credit card.
Hi Damaris, I can see that our support rep Ben replied to your email and issued you a refund on June 21,2016. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks!
I am disputing with my bank. I canceled my subscription on May 25, which was resolved and closed on May 27th. It should've ended on June 18th. I was charged AGAIN on June 19th. I'm having to get a new bank card in order to keep this from happening again. I was considering coming back, but no longer.
Hi Megan! I'm glad we were able to get in touch with you via email and resolve this issue. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us again through support@scribd.com. Thanks again! - Zoë, Scribd Customer Service
They set user up to keep charging. When i register and use by the phone mobile. I tried to cancel it it said theres no active membership. I thought i was done. After that i noticed they ketp charging me. When i figured it out my membership wasnt actually cancelled while my app said theres no active membership. THEY SET PEOPLE UP TO TAKE PEOPLE'S MONEY.
Will never use them again
Thank you for informing us, Ngoc, and we apologize for any confusion or frustration! Scribd is a monthly subscription service, so if you sign up for a subscription and do not cancel, it is expected that you'll have ongoing charges. That said, no worries! Our support team is available to help you. Use this link to email us https://scr.bi/assist and one of our agents will help you within 24 hours -EC
I signed up for a trial in May 2018 and cancelled it within a month. However, without my knowing they've been silently charging me for a subscription for the past 2 years. When I log back into my account it says that I ended my subscription back in 2018. So why am I being charged exactly? I contacted customer service and there has been no response. This seems unlawful. I will be contacting my bank shortly if this is not resolved soon. And no I do not have a duplicate account. That is a blatant lie that you've been telling everyone here. I've checked all of my other email accounts and none of them have a record with Scribd. You're using that as an excuse to justify only refunded a month's payment.
Edit: Support ticket is #*******. You're going to tell me that I have a duplicate account under the same payment information. But I'm going to tell you that I do not have a duplicate account and that I have checked all my emails and any way I could have made a duplicate account and I have not. I don't have another account. What is your explanation now?
We're sorry to hear of the trouble you've encountered with this subscription, and we'd like to look into this. Since we cannot locate your account by this review, we'll need you to either reach out to us again if your ticket has been closed through help@scribd.com, or simply update this review with the number of any support ticket you have sent in so we can track this down to be sure you're assisted. Thank you.
I was billed twice in the same month, 7 days apart. Generally an inferior service, the only useful material they host is typically pirated stuff uploaded by users.
Hi there - I'm sorry to hear this. We're happy to help with a refund; please send us an email to help@scribd.com. Thanks!
Even you choose a free trial periode they go on to take money from your card without information/Email.
The process of closing the membership is not so simple.
Hi there, we're so sorry for any confusion with our cancellation process. We actually have a detailed guide in our Help Center that goes over all the steps on how to do so. You can follow the link here to learn more: https://bit.ly/2UpEyYF

Couldn't believe it when I you d out I didn't own the books/audiobooks and could only read/listen asking as I continue my monthly subscription.
They have pushed be packing to trusty Amazon.
I have cancelled my free trial before it even expired and it has been charging me 10 pounds per month anyways, DO NOT USE SCRIBD, THEY ARE SCAMMERS, IF THIS DOES NOT GET REFUNDED, I'LL HAVE TO RESULT TO LEGAL ACTION FOR SCAMMING.
Thanks for informing us, Humphrey. Please be aware, we cannot charge an account for the subscription price after the subscription has been canceled. If you have ongoing charges, this means you likely have a duplicate account or that something went wrong with the cancelation process. So we can help you out, please be sure to use this link to email our support team: https://scr.bi/assist and one of our agents will get back to you within 24 hours -EC
I needed a book for a project I was working on and found scribd. I read a lot anyway so the service sounded awesome... it was (subjectively) meh. I cancelled my free trial/membership, deleted the account and then forgot all about it. I signed up using a UK bank card that I never use since I live abroad and thus never really check my balance. When i did check my balance several months later I was VERY surprised to see that I was being charged by Scribd. Confused, i go to the site to see whats going on. I try to log in with my email address and password only to be told my account has been deleted (as i thought it had). IF MY ACCOUNT HAS BEEN DELETED, HOW THE HELL CAN THEY BE CHARGING ME A MONTHLY FEE. I've tried to begin a dialogue with them about being refunded, but apparently they don't refund after a certain amount of time. Complete scam.
Hi Will - I'm really sorry to hear this. Could you please send us an email to help@scribd.com, so we can look into this for you and issue a refund? Thank you!
