Good price, long shipping, poor performance

Price for cell was good. Shipping advertised at 3-5 days, but took 18 days.
Verified at startup that salt reading was 3700 with digital indicator. Test strip showed 3800. That lasted about a day, then the salt value shot up to 5700, and could not calibrate it down. I have no clue why my controller still generates, but it does, so since they don't respond to reported issues and it would take until after the season is over to have it replaced and not have that one work properly in some fashion, I'll use it for now, and get a functioning one next year.
Never again!

Never Again

If I could leave fewer stars I would. I ordered a replacement cell and the one that arrived had a cracked housing. After returning it and waiting about 2 weeks they replaced it. About 9 months later the cell stopped working completely. I filed a return under the warranty and was approved. I was told their turnaround is 48 hours. Here I am almost 4 weeks later with no salt cell. I've emailed many times, left voice messages, chatted with the online assistant and get not help, no reply no answers. Save your money. This may be the worst business I have ever dealt with.

Cool concept for salt cell but if it doesn't work for you, you're out over $150 just for shipping and restocking fee. Plus shipped damage product and I had to pay for that return as well. Do not recommend at all

Salt Pool Store shipped a defective product to me about a week ago. Immediately after noticing the problem with the item I contacted them and sent them pictures and a video of the problem. The salt cell was leaking out the connection plastic cover. They immediately agreed it was a problem and the cell was not working properly. They called it shipping damage and claimed that I did not purchased shipping insurance when the purchase was made. Neither the shipping box or the item has any signs of physical damage. It was a manufacturing defect that was causing the problem not a shipping issue. I had to cover the shipping back to them in addition to only receiving a partial refund, which they kept over $100 of the original purchase price. Even though I had no fault in any of this, Salt Pool Store took advantage of me and took my money when their product never worked since day one.

Buyer Beware!

Purchased salt generator for $269, less than 18 months later it failed. Contacted them for warranty repair and they said I can ship the unit to them at my cost. The next time I hear from them is an email invoicing me for $239. When I email asking why such a high invoice I'm told their warranty after 1 year is pro-rated for 1/3 of the published price; which is over $700. NO WHERE in their warranty does it state anything about the repair cost after one year being 1/3 of the published price. So basically, they offer no warranty beyond the first year. Customer support sometimes takes days to respond and doesn't always answer the question(s). I imagine this "company" is nothing more than a fulfillment center.

Warranty expensive
May 25, 2022

My cell is 1 year 8 months old, failed temperature sensor, company told me that since it's past 1 year I wil have to pay to ship it to them, buy a bypass tube to keep filtering water, now buy chlorine tabs, all while THEY decide if they will replace it. All because it lasted a whole year woo-hoo. I will pay more for my next cell just because of this.

This was my third cell from sps. The last one quit working after a couple weeks. So I emailed them and we did a checklist to see if I could fix it without having to return it. I did have to return it. They sent my new one out the next day they received the original. They always emailed me right away and always answered my phone calls. The process was smooth and easy. Thank you SPS

Cancelled Order before shipping after reading all the negative reviews. Almost immediately after purchasing. Told refund would be processed in a few days, fine. Girl on phone was helpful. Because of that I will rate 2/5 instead of 1/5 due to their predatory policy's. Customer support seems to hide behind their keyboard and is the opposite of helpful. To me it seems that they are aware of their negative footprint and are putting up a defense against it and are tired of dealing with people purchasing and canceling or even worse purchasing and installing a defective product.

Satisfied customer

With all the bad reviews I had moved on from this company but came back for the price and the professionalism from the company reps I had. My original equipment replacement cell I had the local pool company install kept generating a "check cell" message after only 2 years. It should have been under warranty but that's another story. I ordered it, got it a week later, installed it myself in 10 minutes and problem solved. Time will tell how well it holds up but I'm a satisfied customer.

I canceled before order shipped after having read so many negatives. I figured product may work, but getting them to back up the warranty could be an issue. But they responded to my cancel request before item was shipped and took care of it.

So far so good

I ordered my slat generator on Friday, I got a FedEx tracking number with in an hour. Yes I never talked to a person, I ordered it online and payed with PayPal. I got it today on Sunday. I put it in and it worked. Don't know about the other reviews that had issues. Just giving my review that everything worked out for me.

I purchase a salt pool cell from them. I received item installed and item was defective. I email them and they would not send call tag they told me I had to pay shipping back and they would replace. The cell leaked and they should have checked item quality before shipping. Told me it was my problem. I sent back and asked for refund. Paid $249 they refunded me only $174 claimed some bul$#*! refund policy. I am in process to file with credit card company. You can make your decision but would not in anyway shape or form buy anything from this company. They do not stand on what they sell. They can send a damaged item and it is your problem not theirs. You can see in pictures the sealant leaked which they should have caught.

Warranty is worthless

I purchased a salt cell in July, 2023 from Salt Pool Store. A main factor in deciding to purchase from them was the 5-year warranty, The cell failed January, 2024. They cannot be contacted by phone. Finally, an e-mail was answered and they are shipping a part which I will have to replace myself even though I have no experience in replacing electrical parts. The alternative is to ship it back to them at my expense. I am not pleased at all!

Purchased a Platinum Edition Replacement Salt Cell for Autopilot SC-36, RC-35/22 in July 11,2022 with a 5 year warranty. On June 21 2023 noted corrosion at connectors. Filed claim, submitted all documentation including receipt, pictures and water chemistry report. We have our pool serviced every week with results of the water chemistry provided each time all within proper levels. SPS responded to my claim asking if I purchased a charging cable lead at time of the cell purchase. I indicated I did not. Hence, they denied as the cable is needed at the time of purchase. It was never recommended by them at the time of purchase. So I then asked to purchase one from them. They do not sell them. So what a wonderful way to always have a reason for claim denial. If you plan on purchasing a cell from them make sure to get the cable as well elsewhere or any future damage or claim will be denied.

Warranty on Platinum Edition Replacement Salt Cell 5 years. I had not used this till this weekend due to the amount of time to get it and it was a replacement. Well, it leaks right out of the seam, which is where I believe the last one leaked from. I have also heard from other people about these issues with this product. Why are you still selling defective products? I still have the original box and packing it was sent to me in, with no damage on my part. I now want it replaced, but prefer a refund due to this being the second time. I see you are no longer on FB?

My salt cell failed after 6 months of usage. This company will not respond to phone calls at all. After contacting through email, I had to submit all types of documents and photos to even begin the warranty process. Eventually, I was told to send my cell back, provide them with tracking, and they would inspect my cell. I received another email that shows paperwork for my replacement. I waited for over a week for confirmation on shipment to no avail. Once again, I contacted them through email and they are now stating that there is a shortage of salt cells, if you can believe it. I feel this company is nothing but a fraud and I think I will pursue legal avenues. Good luck to all.

The Salt Cell quit working after just over a year after being installed so I tried calling and left several messages with no return! Then I filed the Warranty Request Form online and still no response! I tried "chatting" and it disconnected after a few seconds with no response!
At this time I'm ready to put a review on Google concerning the Companies standards!
I'm not going to pay for the chat service they want me to do!

Sold bad product and won't reapind

If I could give them a negative number I would. Bought a replacement salt cell. It never worked properly - over reading the salt concentration and within 2 months, constantly read 'hot'. Company refuses to respond to emails.

Salt Cell poor quality

I purchased a pool cell from them that had a 5 year warranty. It went bad shortly after 1 year. They will not refund. I saved online chat where they said they'd honor if it broke. So they made me hire the pool company to provide accurate water reading and would not accept my test before I could submit claim. I submitted pictures and that document. Then then said I would need to ship it to them at my expense and buy a connector pipe to fill the gap while they verified it was not working. It had been working for over a year and stop giving me a reading of HOT and that my pool was 155 degrees. They would not just honor their warranty. Not to mention respond to repeated attempts by email. Stay away from this company.
