I've had a few horrible experiences dog sitting for rover but my most recent has literally made me delete my account! I dealt with an awful poorly behaved aggressive dog and the owners were even worse! They were so mad that I told them they need to come get their dog that they left me a awful disgusting false review and harrassed me through rover! I had proof of this and that they had lied! I deleted my rover account because rover did NOTHING they refused to help and actually got mad that I asked them to look into this! HORRIBLE COMPANY! *

I pet sat over thanksgiving. I have been pet sitting for 22 years, had a friend convince me to use rover.com what a joke. There was no screening on this dog, he was aggressive towards my male dog, she did warn me not to walk him as he was "fiesty" to other dogs, he pooped and peed in my home when he was out in the yard supervised all day, not housebroken, and the rate was supposed to be 45.00 a day over thanksgiving. I got 126 dollars out of 160 so there you go the greedy bastards took all the money and I made 20 cents and hour. That might be why all the bad reviews, you get paid $#*!, but that is no excuse for not taking great care of the pets, they deserve the best. Advertise and never ever use this crap company for sitting as an owner or a pet sitter the suck

I used Rover just once and my furbaby passed away. The sitter said my dog was perfectly fine, yet she passed away not long after the sitter left. My dog was elderly and I didn't want to think anything bad about the sitter, but then I saw what was left behind. The sitter took many liberties in my home like going through my bathroom drawers and burning a candle all the way through. She turned my Ring camera so it would face the wall, this camera faced the common area where my dog slept. Rover closed the case stating that their investigation concluded that my dog's death was unpreventable. They will not cover the expansive vet bill that I had to pay just for a vet to tell me my dog had passed away.

I tried Rover for a dog sitter last year. Booked 3 weeks a head, day before trip she canceled. Gave it a try again for our trip this time. Booked with a sitter 2 weeks a head. He canceled 4 days before my trip Booked with other sitter She was to pick up my dog text just little while before she was to pick up with why she couldn't, I texted several times trying to see what we could work out she never responded until the next morning 10 minutes before we were leaving. I've tried to contact customer service says they are available 24/7 never have heard from anyone yet! I wish I had of seen all these reviews before booking through this app. This is NOT. A place to find a reliable, trusting sitter for your animal. I would never recommend anyone to use this site to find a sitter!

Awful
July 7, 2018

I have been trying to walk dogs on Rover for quite some time. I have reviews from previous sitters outside of the app, great experience and low prices. Literally the only ones that have contacted me to request stays or walks have been scammers. :( The app is badly run and not user friendly. I have moved on to Wag! SOOOO MUCH BETTER!

They claim they have insurance to cover any damages, but won't use it to actually cover real damages by the dog sitter. I urge everyone to use a friend, family member, even a person you met on the street. Any stranger would be better than the people they have there. If anything happens they will not cover it and find an excuse. Even though they claim they cover anything. They said the damages must have happened by an earthquake. No damage happened to any house in the entire state from this tiny earthquake, yet damages must have happened in my house 150 miles away from the epicenter. A 2.0 earthquake? Don't use them!

Big liers. That don't have to follow the same rules. People in the towns and city's that join this group don't think they have to follow the bylaws like everyone else, and they don't care what so ever, big business taking over online, destroying small business bit by bit, and all the while hiding behind Google that doesn't enforce legal business and laws of their City's.

We hired a sitter. (John) to board our dog at his home. While away, our home was burglarized. Our security camera had high quality video of the burglar. After reviewing the video and interogating John, the police made an arrest. John knew that we would be out of town and broke into our home. CAUTION---John is awaiting trial/sentencing and IS STILL with ROVER.COM. Unbelievable. John boards dogs in the Philadelphia area.

My dog's tail was injured during a stay with a Rover sitter. As soon as I noticed I informed the sitter and Gabriela from El Cerrito, CA, basically told me "I can't watch your dog 24/7". So I, being optimistic, reached out to Rover's customer service about the issue.

They didn't contact me for another 3 days and emailed me once saying the investigation had opened, and that I should contact them if I have any other information. Less than 24 hours later I got an email saying the investigation had closed and I was found at fault for my pet's injury. I provided more information and the representative told me the investigation had been closed and that I should have told the sitter that my dog chews on her tail... which she had never done in the 5 years I've had her.

What a nightmare, I thought I had found a convenient and safe way for my dog to be boarded but instead am now fearful of boarding her anywhere. It has made me change the way I live.

DO NOT USE THIS APP.

I tried to contact someone on their website and I had very bad experience. People offering dog service on that website are not reliable and not truthowrthy. Stay away from that website if you need a good dog walker.

Scam
December 24, 2020

Don't do it! Some nutty woman named Arisia (or something similar) walked my dog twice. Then she blew me off and has been billing me 26.00 a day. I tried to contact the company. No phone number to contact anyone. Tried to cancel through the website. Couldn't. It said I had to have a dog and a credit card on file. I called my credit card company. They locked those crazy people from my card and credited me. BUYER BE WARE! THEY WILL STEAL FROM YOU!

As a dog walker, I cannot modify bookings as needed. To modify a booking, modifications must fit the exact criteria needed. God forbid someone have a change of plans in the middle of the week and try to cancel a Rover booking, nope, you aren't allowed to change your plans ever. Customer service is incredibly unhelpful and doesn't reply half the time. Their approach is to cancel the entire booking, so no one gets paid, no dog gets a walk, and everyone is dissatisfied and unhappy. Looking forward to a new dog walking app that actually works and is tailored to the customer/sitter instead of trying to make the most money off everyone no matter the cost.

Had a rover sitter baby sit my dog while I was on vacation. My dog got diarrhea, I know it's from eating something she shouldn't of had! They would send pics of her from time to time so I felt as ease but once I took her home she was sick, diarrhea and caught fleas! Fleas were almost impossible to get rid of! I got bit my damn self! After weeks I was finally able to get rid of it! Let's just say because of this experience. I'll never ever leave my dog with Rover again! Regardless of the 100+ possible reviews! This will only shorten the lifespan of your dog! Don't do it! And oh. I wanted to pick my dog up earlier than the scheduled plan and they wouldn't let me until a couple of hours. Then when I got to their home they were wearing Giants hat and shirt! Also looked mad because obviously they were at the Giants game and left dogs unattended! And I made them leave the game early!

Rover.com is a very irresponsible and unconscious company.

I booked and paid for a three-week reservation on December 2018 with many months in advance.

The drop-off day, this Rover.com bad sitter did not show up in the house he lived, no answering phone calls, nothing.

I needed to take my flight in the next hours, and Rover only offered me to re-book with a 4-times bigger pricing to be paid by... ME AND ONLY ME!

I had to spend more than $1000 dollars in Xmas with a non-Rover emergency sitter.

In compensation, Rover.com only offered a ridiculous $20 gift card that, by the way, expired in December 2018!

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY AT ALL!

Terrible dog walker. Terrible customer service
November 30, 2022

I used Rover.com for the first time at the beginning of the month. I hired a dogwalker who had apparently been vetted by rover.com. I met him in person, I gave him a key to my house. He was supposed to walk my dog on 6 separate days. He showed up for the first two walks then disappeared. I was in a panic, on vacation, scrambling to arrange other care for my dog. I reached out to rover.com to explain the situation and see what they could do to help me. The customer service is sllllooooowwwww. Their solution was to refund me for the days the walker didn't show up and give me a $20 credit on my account. Gee, thanks. I had to pay $344 to change the locks on my door because their verified guy never returned my key. They say they are going to invsestigate but because of "privacy" I don't get to know the outcome. And no reimbursement for the $$ for the lock. There are reputable pet care services but I would definitely not go through rover.com. Terrible.

A stranger in the US was able to register an account using my
Email address. This business does not require email
Verification, a basic requirement in 2021. I was able to view this
Americans full name, personal phone number, residential
Address, information of when they will not be at their address,
And payment information. I made a support ticket about this
And asked for someone to contact me about how they're
Unable to follow basic protection, they simply deleted the
Account and refused to reply to me. I will be filing a formal
Complaint in the UK as this is against UK law, and this company
Operates in the UK also.

Enjoy using your site who will link your
Private information to a stranger because you made a typo in

They charge you a fee for an initial background check, take your money then leave you hanging long enough to where you question them about status. While you're waiting, they send several messages telling you to "finish your profile " which was clearly saved and finished immediately after the application/ account setup... so then you're thinking there might be a glitch in their app... Another week goes by, now you're at a Month, having asked your friends and family to write reviews for you and they all have, using the special link you have to send them through the app, which now signs Them Up for unwanted Rover ads... you ask Again for status, then they tell you to contact the 3rd party affiliate who does the background checks because they might have questions. THIS IS A SCAM. A FLAT OUT PYRAMID SCHEME. NOW they won't answer Any of my emails! Absolutely ridiculous, fraudulent and all their "good reviews " are paid for. I'm considering litigation.

Onboarded as a sitter. No business! Have lots of exp. No traffic. They accept so many sitters that the surounding market is saturated. No business for new sitter. They probably do it to collect that fee from you. Terrible business.

Hard to work with!
January 15, 2019

I had been looking for a dogsitter for a long time. The site offers hundreds of sitters. It looks promising. Once you start communicating with them you find out that their calendars aren't updated so they are actually unavailable, or they won't answer your texts at all though their suppose to answer within the hour according to their webpage. They have a new landlord, a new roomate or a new pet and they are not able to look after your dog (why don't you update your profile then?) I am not sure what Rover knows about his sitters, It looks like there is no way anyone can make them be reliable and that's sad. On top of that, the search tool is not friendly - one cannot look by name, for example, and I am always surprised that at the end of the search Rover suggest other sitters, usually $20-40 more expensive than my designated range. This could be such a great tool. What a pity it performs so badly.
