The sitter i hired lost my dog the literal next day, and i came home to help look and the sitter left and didnt even help like at all, and i canceled my trip to look for three days only to find my dog DEAD on the side of the $#*!ing street. My girl did NOT deserve to die in such a painful way, please to any one who sees this, your pets life is so much more important than any price at an actual boarding facility please do not make my mistake of trusting these inexperienced troglodytes who have NO clue what their doing. Thanks for leaving this hole in my heart rover. Hope this company crashes and burns, straight to the ground

A COMPLETE SCAM!
December 21, 2019

DO NOT USE THIS WEBSITE! The animal
Sitter was so responsive at the beginning. Took my money in advance saying that I had to pay I. Advance to book it. She took my money and used it for drugs or alcohol and did not show up not even on her first day! We called her and she sounded drunk or drugged out and unresponsive! A complete crook that we trusted our añilamos and home To! Stay away and get someone you know!

Placed a booking in March 2024. Had to cancel due to accident in which I suffered facial fracture and mild concussion. When I first placed my booking it was $554 for 7 days, with only 3 drop ins per day. I edited my booking to around $240. But Rover did not edit my withdrawal as I had asked them to. They instead withdrew the $554. So when I canceled my booking due to accident (which was the day before booking). I sent pics and reason for late cancellation to my sitter (Amy E) and Rover. So my sitter kept almost half of my refund. And her fefund policy did not define the amount she would deduct or if it was an emergency! Rover did not back me up or try to understand my side of issue. They do NOT support the owners, only sitters! Do Not Recommend!

My sitter came in the morning and fed the dog twice, the cat once, and did not let our dog out to go to the bathroom. The sitter took 2 pictures and then saved the second picture for the evening visit and checked in but was never there. After she scammed us on the second visit she canceled the rest of her visits. We called the emergency line and they said they would send us an email. Do not trust this company.

The negligence of the rover sitter killed my dog. The sitter left her door open on a busy road, while my dog was off leash. He ran out her door and was hit by a car.

My dog was a husky. They are notorious for running. Anyone who has owned dogs knows not to leave them unsecure near a busy road. Especially, not a husky. She obviously didn't have enough experience with dogs to be watching them.

Do not use the sitters on this platform (Rebecca in the Boston area was responsible for my dogs death). They are not vetted appropriately, and you have no idea who will be watching your dog.

We fell for the advertising, and it cost our dog his life.

I took my two dogs to a caregiver I found on Rover. My dog was attacked and mauled by the caregivers dog. She is our service animal for my husband who has PTSD he served for 12 years. We had to go out of town for 4 days and couldn't take her with us. I searched for someone I felt was trustworthy. I was WRONG! ROVER is not to be trusted. We had to take our dog to the Vet to get care for her neck and eye. I asked Rover to reimburse us for the $643 we had to spend. Then the emails stopped coming. They have terrible customer service. Please do more research before entrusting your family pet to these people

ROVER.com
March 23, 2023

I hired a Rover to watch my dogs while my family went out of the country. She was supposed to be able to give injections as well as other medications. When I came back she had totally rearranged my kitchen without my permission, the dogs were stressed out and uncared for. She took my house key and didn't return it. I had to change my locks. She threw away generational recipes and when I asked where the dogs medicine was and other things she I was an EVIL INGRATE and blocked me.

First ask if the person on rover has pet sitting insurance. They don't move on. End it. They aren't legal and you can kiss your rover guarantee good bye. Do meet and greet. I work there and I have petsitting insurance as I can't count on a guarantee to protect me or them if I am not a legal sitter. That's where people go wrong. Do you have petsitting insurance? That's all. Ask that and problems Over hope this helps

Buford Died
December 17, 2021

I booked a sitter "Cassie" to watch over my miniature Daschund for a weekend. Cassie was booked to come to the home twice on Friday evening (between 430 and 5 and then between 930 and 10) then to come on Saturday (between 630 and 7 then between 12-1:30 and to repeat friday's times).

Cassie arrived at 4:48 pm and walked the dogs, she then left the house and did not return. I received a security warning as the house was not entered Friday evening nor Saturday morning. I cut my trip short and hurried home. I called to have my home owner's association send an emergency visit.

Buford was in distress, we went to the Vet. He did not recover and this morning passed away.

Rover has refused to follow through with reimbursement for Vet and now cremation.

Don't do it. I didn't know any better! I used to work for a pet sitting company that actually was involved in the care and not just a name. My sitter used my lockbox the first day and then somehow reset the code and my pets didn't have care for 4 days. She then expected to be paid for all of the days even though she didn't enter the apartment! She never called the emergency line - they would have suggested that she call a locksmith but my guess is she didn't want to pay for her mistake so my cats and I had to. I was very nice to her and she still didn't do the right thing. She even kept the tip I left! I mean a tip is for good service - not creating chaos and not doing a job.

My dog almost died
July 31, 2023

If your dog has preexisting conditions DO NOT use Rover. All of their Rovers (the name of a petsitter) are protected by their Rover Guarantee, meaning if your pet has meds and needs all they have to say is it wasn't the Rovers fault. However, as responsible pet owners you know your pet and when they come back to you unable to walk and within 2 hours after being returned to you are admitted to the ICU, skipping a 16 hour wait list, you know neglect happened. Make sure you take videos of your pet's condition before releasing them into the care of a Rover. Call Rover and ask them how to become a Rover, it requires a background check, 3 letters of pet care recommendations and that's it. No site visits, no interviews, nothing. Rover is an Uber for pet care, avoid using if you love your pet.

What is Rover?
April 16, 2021

Hi! Just boosting the poor star reviews.
Rover is Just a website that will list people who want to pet sit. I've hired and been by others this way. I do it all the time now, because I love dogs so much! My review is contingent upon the following:

1. Ask lots of questions!
2. Provide emergency contacts, prefered vet and number.
3. Read reviews, meet and greet in person and never trust a 3rd party to rebook.
4. Compare location, cost of service, and if other pets and kids will be there.
5. My heart is so sad for any owner or pet who happened to have harm done. I guarantee, if any true dog lover on Rover was a part of any injury, they would feel terrible.

I signed up for a reoccurring dog walking booking for my very first experience and found there's no way to cancel it, I must contact the dog walker and ask them to cancel it for me, craziest thing I've ever heard of. They claim in the help section that you can cancel it but when you have actually navigate to that on the web page it tells you you must contact The Walker to cancel reoccurring reservation?

I am a rover sitter
October 12, 2018

I am a 5 star sitter on rover- that being said- WORST COMPANY EVER! They do not protect their sitters nor do they protect your pets! Rover has no regulations! They do a background check- but there is no proof that you are who you say you are. They do not come to our homes and check to see if it is how we say it is. They also allow owners not to complete their profile and still find sitters- which puts us in really bad positions and leaves Rover to hold no accountability, in an emergency they are useless and will tell the sitter its 100% on us... dog checks need to be done! Dog owners lie/dont tell about dogs that bite, dogs that are escape risks, and other information that is important... they dont insure the owner they dont insure the sitter but owner pays a fee and sitters pay20% of earnings- this company is not about dogs- its about money and they dont care about the PEOPLE! Find sitter on rover- pay them cash and forget about rover.

Who is giving these awful so called pet sitters reviews?
They never answer queries they don't turn up they cancel non stop even when paid
It's a dreadful site
What happened to trusted pet sitters? These are just kids with no common decency
One hated my cat she was horrible and she didn't even turn up after paid
Sick of this site
It needs to be removed
For decent genuine pet sitters be very careful
You animal will not be in good hands
I am amazed at the rudeness of the sitters.
One of them started lecturing me and telling me his intuition wouid stop him from taking care of my pet
He was rude and thought he couid say what ever he wanted to say about me.
Another one asked me to go to whars app then didn't answer any of my queries
Another one just didn't bother
Another one dud a meet and greet and took money then cancelled
This is horrible

I joined Rover Tucson 13 years ago and had the same dog sitter. As time went on and I moved part time to Seattle I tried Rover Seattle. The first meet/great I hopped out of my car and stepped in a nest of a human living in their front yard. She was ranked number 1 in Seattle. I met her in her backyard whilst she smoked and nodded off. We left and went to second meet/greet down the street which was perfect in a nice condo. He's been my go to perfect Rover. I'm back for the summer and he's traveling more so looked the past couple of weeks for new Rover. 4 out of 6 would not allow us a meet and greet. I get Covid but I really want to know where I'm leaving my dog before I leave my dog.

My regular dog sitter was unavailable for my dog and I booked a 30min walk with Rover.com. I paid $25.53 which included $2.53 in fees. I usually pay $18 for 30min. Unfortunately, I had to cancel my booking with only 23hrs notice. I learned later, that the cancellation policy stated a partial refund would be given with cancellations less than 24hrs notice. I was refunded 50% of my payment for being 1hr short of their 24hr policy, which was not clearly stated prior. I will not use Rover.com again for any reason.

I had a HORRIBLE experience where I came home to find my dog covered in his own pee, poop, and vomit. I called Rover to complain and they said they would give me a $50 refund and never did. I didn't see any money back and the sitter got to keep the entirety of what I paid for her to "stay at my house" even though she clearly did not do anything to keep our dog safe or healthy.

Deceptive Pricing
April 8, 2022

I expected that the "nightly rate" was pretty straightforward and what I would be charged. There is fine print that specifically lists "See Additional Services & Rates
Pick-up & drop-off, bathing / grooming" I assumed that since I wasn't expecting pick up/dropoff or grooming, that these charges wouldn't apply to me. I was shocked to get an invoice for over double the list price because I have an additional 2 cats that need a can of food opened. I'm not going to pay someone and additional $60 a day to open a can of food. This is beyond overpriced, and I won't be using them.

No show!
December 4, 2021

I set up for a dog boarding through the app. The sitter sent her phone number and we communicated through to set up the time for me to drop off. It was for Thanksgiving day for one night. She told me if I paid her directly, her fee was $10 cheaper. I should up at her house at the agreed time. Her dog approached my car and stood up on the door of the car, looking in. Scratched up the door. I tried calling her several times and blew the horn for at least 15 min. She never answered the phone or came to the door. I did not get out because I was afraid of what her dog may do. I left and was stuck without a sitter. She never calked or contacted me to explain what happened. Never again will I use this service. Her name is Jodi B from Rock Hill, SC
