The installed package is not reliable. Way over rated. I have to two other camera systems that put this to shame. Now you know why there is so much advertising!
I purchased this a month ago. Apparently you can only use this for 30 days and then a subscription is required to review activity. It's now useless without monthly payments.
Bought 2 doorbells and one Ring Floodlight worked fine until the free cloud ran out. Decided not to sign up for their service and since that time I have had nothing but trouble it now takes forever to bring up on phone works about 50% of the time even when at home and I have the fastest internet you can buy. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND BUY SOMETHING ELSE...
I bought my system with doorbell camera and inside cameras three years ago for a new home purchase. AFTER Living in my new state for three years, I changed my phone number. YOU know what happened? RING failed to recognize my new phone number and ACTUALLY wanted me to send "proof of ID" --- WHAT? They certainly didn't require my "ID" to set up, Why would you need ALL my personal information to supposedly "verify" my ID? SEEMS like the biggest scam EVER and the devices are USELESS now! Completely USELESS! Whatever you do, you will NOT want to purchase this product!

Got my Ring 2 last year. Real happy until Ring changed.
Now I have to log in daily ( at least once) on my cell phone.
BIG PAIN & A SECURITY ISSUE. SUPPORT CAN'T HELP.
Get an alert on my cell that there is motion at my front door.
Instead of viewing immediately, I may have to log in.
Hopefully I am home but, not always.
If not, by the time I log in they could be inside.
Everything was great until lately.
They have taken a great, simple product that worked
And turned it into a REAL SECURITY ISSUE.
Now I am looking for something else.

But at night, even my deer can walk up to 10 feet from one an never trip it. They do not trip when it's dark out. In the day, even the wind trips them.
Battery always need recharging every week. It's a huge hassle. We have a sign now in front of our door that says that our ringer doesn't work all the time, and to knock instead!
Hi Geraldine,
Battery life is contingent on usage so the amount of alerts you receive per day will impact your battery life. Would you email me directly at Bilan.jenkins@ring.com? I'd be happy to provide you with some suggestions to help improve this for you.

I have three RING products. A Ring Pro doorbell and two exterior flood light cameras. All three devices initially functioned perfectly. BUT,, at this time only 1 camera remains functional. Ring has already replaced the current malfunctioning camera once before, I suspect because they are NOT designed to be exterior cameras. If it rains, it fails, PERMANENTLY. The Ring PRO has been even more fun. It functions fine until someone actually uses it. When they do, it takes a picture, rings the chimes and,,, that's it. It will do nothing more including a reset until the power is totally disconnected. No, cutting the breaker power off does not work. In short I have to take the unit apart unscrew the hard wires and reconnect them. THEN it can be reset and will fine until the next time someone uses it.
In short, Ring products are a good idea with a bad ( or cheap) design. I have no intention of wasting any additional time returning them OR working with tech support. The next stop for these things will be the trash can. A the experience accepted as a very expensive lesson in the use of "new" technology.
An unbelievable piece of garbage.
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! DO NOT BUY DIRECTLY FROM RING GO VIA AMAZON OR A COMPANY THAT TREAT THEIR CLIENTS WITH RESPECT.
I HAVE TO RETURN A DOOR VIEW CAM.
AFTER 40 MINUTES ON THE PHONE THEY STILL DIDN'T SEND ME THE RETURN LABELS.
ON TOP OF IT, IN THEIR ADVERTISING, THEY DON'T TELL YOU THAT THE PRODUCT DOES NOT FIT ALL DOORS! BAD BAD BAD
My experience with Ring has been nothing close to these reviews. My wait for customer service has always been less than 10 min., which for me is acceptable. Please consider this (I don't know how to verify to you that my review is real, but you can look at these facts and decide for yourself about all the other reviews. I'm simply fed up with fake reviews on things I'm trying to buy). I question if this site gets this many visitors to review Ring. Why? Look at two of the biggest names in security; SimpliSafe and ADT. They each have 7 and 17 reviews, respectively, on Sitejabber. But Ring, who announced a HUGE price undercut of every other security system out there, has 127 reviews. As of this date, 97 are 1 star. Now look at the history (dates) of the reviews. Ring averaged about 2 reviews a month from March, 2016 until January, 2018 - about two years. Then, in January 2018, after Ring's announcement of their price structure (very low) for their home security, they suddenly have had 77 reviews in about a 6 month time frame that are overwhelmingly negative! WHAT?! It's almost daily negative reviews! But, two of the largest names in home security have a COMBINED review count of 24, TOTAL?! I'm in NO way suggesting Simplisafe or ADT are doing this because I have no idea. They were used only to compare review stats. These reviews could be from any company or person(s). And maybe Ring really is that bad. But, based on the professional reviews I have found, my personal experience, and the success of Ring as a company, I simply do not believe that the majority of these reviews are legitimate.
Just got off the phone for the 4th time since my merchandise was returned on June 15. I received a system for a friend but her son had made a purchase the day after my order. I called and got an RMA (return merchandise) shipping label. I opened the box when the shipping label requested part of the label to be inclosed. I opened the box, incerted said label and sealed the box. Today they finally said they would give me a third refund since they haven't received all the products that were in the same box. 3-5 days for this refund and call once again in 7 days to see the status of the other $400 refund. The hold time to talk to some one is 5-10 minutes every time you call. AND you have to listen to ring advertisements the entire time. I like my ring but hopefully you will not need their customer service.
Half the time it never loads, and this is an amazon-owned brand so you know this is definitely a lost cause
Absolute GARBAGE!
NEVER OPENS WHEN THE ACTION IS HAPPENING.
Locks up while your stuff gets stolen!
It was a good company until amazon bought it and stopped improving it. Its what they do. They buy something making a name for itself, make a quick buck and kill the growth. Typical amazon play.
There are 5 million goggle responses to every request, but 99% are sales related and none are for this particular device. Every so-called help Link for doorbell cams leads you back to the same crap which is one or two canned answers that DO NOT pertain to the question at hand. Much less than a mile wide and an inch deep, they are and inch wide and as deep as a piece of paper. The doorbell can't find the WiFi, and the software tells me my device (Android) doesn't have Internet connection. I have 2.4G & 50G boosters within 6 feet, and I get to Goggle Play on the cell phone, so the problem is not at this end. The temporary connection to the Ring network cannot be found, so the process stops cold. It connected for a whole week at a time, but dropped out and now just won't cooperate. Having problems is one thing, but the support system is the worst, even in this day and age of people that don't speak real English on a help line, or robot chat lines that have a half dozen canned answers, none of which are useful and send you through a circular rat maze of non-useful time wasting exercises. There is no support to speak of. It's as though you are the only person in the world with a problem. How likely is that? Even stupid people can read instructions, but there is almost nothing online. This is a single device with a finite number of possible problems and there should be a list of problems and solutions online BEFORE the device is sold to the public. To have nothing years after introduction speaks to the sincerity and integrity of the company. They do not deserve to be in business.
We bought this because my wife wanted something to show us who was at our front door. NO WHERE in any of the literature does it say that you have to have a continuing account with a monthly fee to Ring to use the doorbell. You receive a one month free subscription but as soon as that expires you can no longer see who is at your door nor see any movement around the door. The only way it looks like you can do this is continue to pay Ring for a monthly subscription to their cloud storage. THIS IS A COMPLETE RIP OFF BY RING, IF I COULD I WOULD GET MY MONEY BACK.
Hi Douglas,
I am sorry to hear about your poor Ring experience. We do notify our customers about the cloud plan on our website (https://shop.ring.com/pages/protect-plans), in your Ring app during the first free 30-day trial of our cloud plan, as well as in your email about this service. I apologize for any miscommunication but we will work on providing even more transparency to our customers as we can in the future. Additionally, our optional Protect Plan allows you to access/download/share past Ring videos. Without this service, you'll still receive real-time video alerts on your smartphone as well as have access to Live View.
Would you please email me directly at Kandyce@ring.com?
I would like to provide you with some additonal options to hopefully improve your Ring experience.

I have five new ring cameras. Two of them are at the back corner of our house approximately 35 feet in the air. Up one of them will not work in and talking to customer service they repeatedly asked me to go up on a ladder approximately 35 feet in the air and push the factory reset. When I told them this is a significant safety issue they asked me if I knew of somebody else who would be willing to do this for me. Not only do they have the lack of insight and audacity to put me at risk but when I share with them numerous times as a significant height the suggestion to ask somebody else is ludicrous.
At this point the light will not come on and there is no additional troubleshooting they can provide unless somebody comes over with a 35 foot ladder climbs up there in attempt to manually reset it. I told the agent they have three other cameras that are extremely high if I run into the situation are they going to suggest the same identical troubleshooting. Silence……. Stay away from this device you're better off buying remote cameras in flood lights as ring it's just too unreliable when you need troubleshooting and you can't physically get to the device
Do not believe the hype, late notification even with fibre 100mbs BBand, microphone don't work caller walks away because of the unacceptable delay in connection and cannot hear you I have the wifi booster less than 1 mt from bell and 2 mt from my bb hub have done many resets and all my firmware is current on my bb network I have only 3 items using my network no kids no streaming very light use so no excuses. Except great concept good aftersales helpline, just working with shoddy poor hardware and software to make the damm thing work my advice save your money do not buy I have lodged a complaint with UK trading standards.
Stops recording at dark until I open the door. Did not pick up neighbor who came at 8. Just got notice at 12. Looked and it was me at 7:30. No do not diss tube on
From looking around I see a number of people are unhappy about a number of things but they can be traced back to Bad customer service around the free trial.
1. They start your 30-day free trial without specifically telling you the moment you set up one of their cameras.
2. If you happen not to know that and contact them "I'm sorry but if you would like to pay you can decide if you like it".
3. Refurbished units are sold by retailers unmarked as re-refurbished so when you contact you get the same "I'm sorry but if you would like to pay you can decide if you like it".
You would think that with all these guys have they would be able to tell if someone had already used the 30-day or if a unit is refurbished and being set up at a completely different location.
Some companies do more t help their competition than they know. I'm already switching and completing my system with a different company more because of customer service than the actual product itself.
Way to go "RING" I hear a cash register making a sound at someone else's store.
I already inform them the ring wasn't working properly like millions times and they still refuse to do warranty. What a shame! I guess I had to get nest door bell!
Answer: Most annoying product ever. Doesn't work but almost does. This makes you constantly fool with it thinking you maybe possibly actually got it to do something similar to what they advertise. But in the end you will be back to square one with a pricey piece of crap! Then after hrs of listening to customer services b. S. you realize you've been had. But it doesn't end there. You end up on sites like this trying to help others from making the same mistake. And trying to figure out when this hell will end!
Answer: It does not work the way it is presented on T. V. The inability to immediately respond "LIVE" to an event renders it useless.
Ring has a rating of 1.3 stars from 773 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Ring most frequently mention customer service, door bell and live view. Ring ranks 166th among Home Security sites.
