Ring is not selling a product as much as they are selling a service you pay for. They will use your paid internet and WiFi. All they do is store videos on a cloud based system at a much higher price than iCloud, Dropbox, OneDrive etc. they could easily let you store your own videos. This is called Greed!
It misses MOST of the activity at the front door - unless the doorbell is actually rung. Doesn't get the Amazon or UPS deliveries most of the time.
My advice would be to find something else - I'm looking to replace my Ring doorbell cam now. Save the work!
This company is horrible. The worst customer support and service. This company is a bunch of thieves. I have a led camera floo light it's about 3 years old and it just started strobing. I did everything they told me to do and it still strobes. The answer to me is since the warranty is up they can't fix it. They told me I have to purchase a new one. It Turns out I am not the only one with this issue. As soon as I say that, they offered me a 30% off coupon. The light was not cheap and I know LED light last a lot longer then 3 years. This company Horrible. Please do not think twice of purchasing anything thing from these animals. They support horrible business. Buyers beware
Customer support is terrible. They upgrade their app without warning and then it no longer works on your phone. They do not provide previous versions of their app and you are required to get a new phone on a regular basis. When you complain, they go through a whole rigamarole in order to tell you they cannot and will not assist you. The pretend to offer a refund but then find an excuse how to not do it. In my case it was because they do not offer a refund to international customers. (I am in Canada) A very shady company.
The video doorbell stops working as soon as conversation starts. Then it goes blank. The complete purpose of the video doorbell is defeated.
This video doorbell is needed when we are away from home. The technical expert at Ring cannot do anything about it since I am away. Sir, I need it when I am away not when I am home.
I would prefer to give them NO stars. I was on the phone over an hour to troubleshoot why the video was not in color. Finally, I chewed out a supervisor who is now going to send a replacement.
I wish I would have never purchased ring products
Ring.com floodlight cams and doorbells video cameras are the absolute best. The best clarity, storage on the cloud, quality, and customer service. Awesome. Look forward to when they come out with 4K video.
I have three ring products, one camera and two doorbells. After about a year, the Ring Doorbell started acting up. After the 3rd person would consecutively ring it, the mechanical doorbell chime box would buzz for hours. Battery in the Ring showed more than 85% charged. Went to remove the Ring and check the connections. The theft-proof screws on the bottom of the ring had become corroded into their receiving sockets; this is do to the screw and receiver socket being two different types of metal. A latent defect in the material and manufacturing. Ring says I owned it over a year, so not their problem, then tried to sell me on longer term product insurance on the Ring.
So I have disconnected the power, 19.3V, from the chime and have a Ring with corroded screws... I guess Ring screwed someone... I will no longer recommend this product or provider.
While the product is fine, customer service is like speaking to a kindergarten class. Simple math no one can do. They cancel existing plans and recharge your credit card, and then can not do math on prorated $30. Spoke to 3 people in two days to fix two monitoring door bell plans I have. After an hour and half on the phone, I finally asked to speak to a manager. Manager never got on the phone. I hung up and disputed the charge on my card. I removed my card card from my account, so they can not automatically charge when they have no idea what they are doing. I will decide if I want to continue with their plans. They lack the ability to give "two cents" about the customer!
They told me my "free' trial was over. I them paid the subscription and they reset everything and my password no longer worked and when I tried to set up a new one it won't do it. I called support... I could only understand every third word this guy said. WHY DID YOU RESET EVERYTHING! It was working fine. I may send this thing back and try another product.
At first it worked great then lost it's signal and for there we couldn't get it to re connect and the button on top was so easy for someone to press and cause you to lose your connection we had to send it back. Disappointed.
I have had Ring for a few months now. I have had videos erased from my log which I pay for. I'm a victim of gang stalking. Ring from my experience is envolved in this type of activity. They will tell you that they are there to help and then work with other individuals to compromise you safety. If you don't know what gang stalking is look it up.
I can't complain about the product because I never got to use it. Went to set up the camera and ring says there is an account already setup with a camera in a totally different state in my name and email. Can't setup the new camera (bought on prime days) because I don't know the password to the fraud account. She asked for the mac address on the new camera which I gave her, and she said the device was stolen. LOL What a joke of a company. I wouldn't trust them for any security.
We have the Ring Doorbell Pro. Worked great for 2 weeks, then started losing signal.
First, it was very slow to load the event, then video and audio stopped working. We have contacted Ring more than 12 times. Sometimes we have been on the phone with them for over an hour, while a rep reads instructions from his manual. Ring Support had us unplug router, shut off power to Ring, reinstall. They even sent us a free Wi-Fi extender. Now, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt.
All other wireless devices work in our home. Our Wi-Fi runs at 15-25 mbps near the door, so that is not an issue. Spectrum came the other day and verified our signal is very good.
Ring has blamed our signal, our microwave, and any other excuse they could find. We are going to replace it with another security camera system and return it for a refund.

I had occasion to call tech support regarding popping and clicking on the audio. After spending hours on several calls, my problem was not resolved. I talked to 3 different agents.
The last one argued with me about the fact that although the specifications for the Ring Doorbell called for. 5Mbs minimum, 1.0Mbs better, the internet connection needed to be better than that (my service was running 1.7). Without going into details, she made statements regarding upload speed and Ping times which I know to be false as I have had a lot of experience with the Internet since 1995.
She was very argumentative. Becoming frustrated, I asked to speak to a supervisor, she agreed to transfer me and then I was on hold for over 15 minutes so finally hung up. No resolution to the problem...

At this point, I would like to connect with you directly so that I can both work to improve your Ring experience as well as follow up on your past CS tickets to ensure that this type of Customer Support does not happen again. Would you be so kind as to email me directly at Kaitlyn.rosenthal@ring.com?

My camera and doorbell surprised me with a monthly bill not advertised on the boxes. They disconnect constantly, my internet and wifi connectivity is above and beyond, yet I still got ring brand extenders all over the house, still disconnects. 1 year old and the doorbell doesn't charge the battery any more, I replaced the battery and checked the voltage line. They aren't the issues. The cameras have night vision, yet they go black constantly. For example, last night something climbed my fence and messed up my 16' inflatable pool. The motion sensor apparently went off, but the camera blacked out forn15 mins with. Perfect timing. I saw glowing eyes, then black... they should recall these and entirely refund every buyer.
While the equipment is subpar what did you expect? You wanted them to give you a new one? They offered you a discount. This is how it goes with electronics. They break and malfunction. If you bought it in store or amazon you get the extended warranty.
This company has turned into a complete joke. First, they force you to wait on hold for 30 minutes in order to get a service code that proves you are who you say you are. But that isn't enough, they then tell you to jump up in down in front of your camera to prove it is you so they can activate the device. "It's for your own security, sir". Sound familiar? Ring has literally become the Covid lockdown of camera companies with their new "high security" virtue signalling. Is this really the best that Silicon Valley has to offer? Sad. Ditching cloud camera services altogether after this ridiculous experience. I'm not entrusting my feeds to a company this janky.
This was preinstalled in my home. I've paid for the upgraded plan and have been constantly disappointed. No matter what WIFI I use (5Ghz, 2.4Ghz), I can never connect successfully in real time. You can't hear the person if you do connect. When you need to review footage it almost perfectly cuts out the time frame you needed most. What a joke.
My Ring is hardwired but still loses the network (router is barely 40 feet from the front door and this is just wood frame building) on a nearly daily basis. I often go round and round trying to get the doorbell back on line only to get the message "not a valid QR code" when I finally get to the last step. I have had it with this POS and am switching to a Google product.
Answer: Most annoying product ever. Doesn't work but almost does. This makes you constantly fool with it thinking you maybe possibly actually got it to do something similar to what they advertise. But in the end you will be back to square one with a pricey piece of crap! Then after hrs of listening to customer services b. S. you realize you've been had. But it doesn't end there. You end up on sites like this trying to help others from making the same mistake. And trying to figure out when this hell will end!
Answer: It does not work the way it is presented on T. V. The inability to immediately respond "LIVE" to an event renders it useless.
Ring has a rating of 1.3 stars from 773 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Ring most frequently mention customer service, door bell and live view. Ring ranks 166th among Home Security sites.
