I bought a certificate for a local Chinese restaurant this afternoon. I printed the certificate and went to the restaurant immediately. There was a sign on the door: "We do not accept Restaurant.com certificates." I spoke with the cashier who said that they had vever authorized Restaurant.com to offer certificates. Looks like a scam to me.
I purchased 2 gift cards from "restaurant.com" on Dec. 24,2013, one for my sister and family, and one for my brother and family. They were $100 gift cards for $40. I asked my siblings to let me know how it went, because I wanted to know if these would work. They mentioned nothing for a year, and finally I asked my sister what happened. She said that both tried to redeem them and couldn't. She said she tried 3 major cities in the Iowa-Minnesota area, and they couldn't find a restaurant that would take them. I've sent an email to them 2 days ago, a year later now, (12/15/14) and have not heard from them yet. After reading the reviews on SiteJabber, I would love, but don't expect a refund. It sure appears that this site is a scam for the unknowing person. I would not ever use their services again.
This restaurant sells coupons at restaurant(dot)com, but refuses to honor the coupon that you paid for. Do not go to this place, they were rude and treated me like I was trying to use a fake coupon or something.

Go ahead, look on restaurant(dot)com and they stil sell the coupons, but will not honor. Give them a call to ask if they honor it.
I worked for RDC for less than a year (average length of employment for employees who have integrity). This site is a SCAM. SCAM to the restaurant owners, scam to the people who buy certs. Sales staff does put in unauthorized restaurants because if they don't make their quota, they don't get paid! Worst of all, management and CEO are fully aware of their shady business practices, they just don't care. RDC is a perfect example of corporate greed in today's United States.
Apparently this company finds that fixing their website is not a real issue. I bought a group on juts flat out could not use it on the website. The flaw being you follow the directions and input the code as instructed. It shows up gives the credit you save it. And when you try to purchase with the credit like a ghost it disappears. I tried a half dozen variations and the credit is gone each time. Attempts top contact Restaurant.com is a joke. They flat out do not respond. No customer service but they do collect money. Unethically Groupon policy is three days to egt money back and to contact Restaurant.com. Obviously i lost out here. Caveat emptor buyer beware. PS BBB gave them a very low rating
I reveived a $50 certificate from my employer as a thank you and its practically unusable. I have tried for over half an hour to use the website, on my phone, on my desktop, different browsers, and the page is extremely slow. Every time you click a button is directs you to a 504 Gateway Timeout error. You cant log in, you cant see how where to use the certificate- nothing. What a waste of time.
Please trust me. I am just like you; college grad, looking for good deals for the girlfriend and myself. Ignoring websites like this because they're cheesy and people just complain. I bought the $100 gift card thing from Groupon, and thought it was an epic deal, too good to be true. I looked up one review of someone who was happy with it. And because of the pressure of the Groupon being limited-time-only, I bought it.
I didn't realize that you cannot combine "certificates", it is designed such that you will *always* have a balance at the end of your meal. To places you wouldn't usually go because they're struggling businesses. I'm sure I won't use any of the money on the card. I'll chalk this one up to a loss. You should avoid that.
I want 0 stars. The restaurants that bought for did not accept the certificate. Besides I paid $25 for a $50 certificate then I had to buy $100 worth of food then tip which means I paid $75 for my food then a $20 tip which means I saved $5. Wow!
First-call their customer service and ask for the presidents office... they will NOT let you talk to anyone... raise any REDFLAGS? They have restaurants on here that when you sit down tell you they don't take the coupon! STAY AWAY. Plus their restaurants-a few are great-but most are overpriced and not very good
Don't get fooled by the prices shown on their website or promotions as it is not worth it when you try to redeem what you purchased. Like most customer's complaints, redeeming the vouchers is a joke - that is if you can login to their website at all. Their website is unresponsive just attempting to login (either via a laptop or mobile phone/app) so if you can't login and view your vouchers, you can't redeem. Avoid, Avoid, Avoid - you have been warned...
I bought a voucher for The Hot Grill at this website. The restaurant didn't accept the voucher. I reported to restaurant.com, but they didn't remove the Hit Grill out of their listing. This website is unreliable.
I went to a restaurant and gave them the coupon code which they validated and they never gave me the discount havent heard from the manager/owner and also havent heard from restaurant.com. Would not recommend this to anyone
You have to spend $$ to use the vouchers. Very limited restaurants that participate. Lots of restrictions. Most of the places I had never heard of. You end up going somewhere you wouldn't even try if you didn't have a voucher for. I thought it was a waste of my dollars.
I have had "money" in here since 2016... they have NO places worth going to anywhere near me except Marcos. I called and had the rudest guy on the phone... Tried telling him there were no places near me and the few that were 30 miles away, we would NOT go to.
Great concept, bad marketing and getting NEW and BETTER places
I signed up and purchased a number of PAPER certificates, not posted to my online account when this just opened. Of course I didn't use them for quite some time and one of the restaurants closed. I contacted their customer support to see if I could get the PAPER certificate exchanged to another restaurant. They keep telling me to log into my account and click on the electronic certificate to exchange it. They aren't even reading my email explaining that I have no electronic certificates and am trying to exchange a PAPER certificate they issued to me when they started their service.
They are a bunch of Bozos working in customer support.
Do not purchase certificates from these guys.
My friend told me to attend this seminar where they sell vacation packages and in exchange for the 90 minutes seat down and listening to the agents trying to sell you tickets you will get a free $100.00 gift card regardless if you buy their vacation packages or not. I surely did get mine "RESTAURANT.COM" gift card. It is a waste of time, they want you to sign in to restaurant.com and upload their apps and whole bunch of run around. I thought I was done when I did mine and went to Soup Plantation where I thought I could use the card BUT the gift card was not accepted. I checked online again and found out that there are only a few restaurants that accepts the said gift card and reading all the consumer's reviews made me feel I don't want to waste more time dealing with this mess!
Restaurant.com is a rip-off and a joke. Got a free coupon from a car deal close to home. Went to use it the next day think it would be nice to get a meal and not come out of girlfriend pocket(me not working now). Got there and ate, only to find out when time to pay that the coupon wasn't honored because they have a (50$ min cost to use it). So the joke on everyone that uses this site not getting a deal just a big headache!
I purchased 2 giftcards from this website and have spent three months emailing abck and forth with their "custoimer service" reps just to change the password on my account. I reset the password months ago and the new password on my account never worked, nor has the multiple "internal passwords" assigned and offered to me from the customer service. If you experience any difficulty with the website in general, do not expect a response for over a week, and it will be an auto-generated message.
This website is a waste of time and money and I will never use it again.
I bought the "GC", but later read the fine print that the minimum spent has to be doubled that at Sencha Tea. So I called back to customer service, and explain to the customer associate that I had made the mistake of not reading the fine print. It was my fault for doing so, and I would like to get my refund back. Samantha was very nice and understanding and said she will do a one time courtesy refund, which is all that I need because I've learned my lesson from this. She also said it would take 3 to 5 business days for the refund for me to receive an e-mail about the refund. To my surprise, I received it the next day and my refund the day after that. So yes, it was misleading the way they advertised it, but their customer service reps are very courteous and friendly and for that they get a five star review from me. Thank you Samantha for your assistance!
I know that I am one person, with a normally calm disposition. However, when wronged I will go out of my way to let my story be known and try to stop people from patronizing that business.
That being said, restaurant.com is now dead to me. I had received a $50 gift card after the purchase of a new car. I have had the card for a few months, and had opened an account and entered the card information at that time. I went to use the account yesterday, and saw the gift card was not listed. I tried to reenter it, and was unsuccessful.
I called customer service, and was informed that the card was accessed on a different account, not used, but cannot be used by me. Wrong answer.
In short, all I would like is what is mine. A $50 gift card to try. Short of that, my mission will be to tell anyone within ear shot that restaurant.com is a company that does not deserve your time or money.
Answer: Same thing happened to me. There is no live person to talk to. They will give you a credit to use on another voucher but you will probably run into the same problem.
Answer: Burn it! Restaurant.com is not going to work with you at all. They are scam artists
Answer: Most likely because of people like me. I had never heard of this company, but, was offered their cards as part of a promotion. After being burned, I took the time to post my opinion. Others may not take the time to caution others...
Answer: Yes you need to pay almost 5 times as much as you pay. Dont do that
Answer: Terms of use make it nearly impossible to redeem gift cards.
Answer: No restaurants directly accept the gift card at the restaurant.
Answer: Don't even bother
Answer: You probably can't since it is virtually impossible to reach the company. I wish I had a better answer for you.
Answer: Your question is not very clear but if your certificate is "unused" I assume that means it hasn't been used yet and it is available for you to use. Be sure to check for other possible restrictions and minimum purchases.
Answer: And when you call restaurant.com Theresa K or some other staff member will politely tell you, in essence, you don't have any $135 value. They will find a reason but they will suggest you spend more only to loss that too. Be cautious.
The company has garnered significant negative feedback, primarily centered around customer service failures and issues with account management. Many customers report lost funds and unresponsive support, leading to sentiments of being scammed. Additionally, the limited and outdated restaurant options have contributed to dissatisfaction, as customers frequently encounter closed establishments. While a few positive experiences are implied regarding the product concept, the overwhelming sentiment reflects frustration and distrust. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance communication, streamline account management, and ensure accurate listings of participating restaurants.
