Nevr buy their certificates/coupons. They never work. Just a waste of money. When you ask for refund, they respond very late, name sake phone number, no one asnwers back.
They give excuses to refund the money. For my order numbers, they are making it up the price and refunding 40% of the money. When i tried to give the proof by logging in to the account, they wiped all the certificates i bought. Please dont do business with these guys.Scammers.
My experience with Restaurant.com has been horrible. Purchased restaurant certificates only to find that restaurants have gone out of business. Have shown up at restaurants only to find out they no longer accept their certificates. Have tried to access my account to print certificates only to find that site experiencing difficulties. Trying to get help from them to resolve issues next to impossible. Stay away.
Bought the emovie cash and restaurant.com deal. Restaurant.com does offer decent restaurant deals but the movie tickets have an expiration and it's unreasonably short. I got burned you don't have to, stay away from this deal!
I wish I had read those online reviews before getting 3 certificates from a reward program. I had no problems using the first $10 cert at a Shabu-Shabu restaurant after calling first to confirm they do accept the cert. The next $15 cert cannot be used since that Mexican restaurant changed the management and was closed. The 3rd one was a $25 cert at a Japanese restaurant and the restaurant had confirmed they would honor the certificate before I brought my guests there. However, after the meal of $55, they told me this certificate has become invalid since the day it was issued. I tried to call the 800 number, but they don't have a live person to take your call or a msg box to take your msg. I then wrote an email to Restaurant.com and there has been no response. This business model cannot and should not succeed without a major overhaul. It's unlikely that I will use them again based on my poor experience.
Hi. If I redeem my $100 gift card and get a $50 certificate from certain restaurant but I only consume $40 that day, How do I get the remaining balance back to my $100 Card? Do I have to consume the full amount of $50? If not, Will then I get stock with that restaurant and will have to come back to spend the remaining $10 dollars? Or will those go back to my original $100 card?
As a business who had them then stopped using them... Harassment would be put it mildly.
They call a few times a week almost every week asking if we would like use them again. Even after talking to a "Manager" to take us off thier list and that never want to use them again, we still get calls... They alaways say yes we take you off our list and after six months it hasn't happened... And no one will give their name a reference point to who said they would take us off their lists..
In a nutshell, one star rating is too much to give for this scam Business. Please Please do not buy any deals from this scam business. You will fall and regret it. Please I am taking the time to write this review and I do normally do not do this. You will loose your money after you found out all stupid policies and regulations when it comes to exchanges and how to use the certificates. You really want to know and find out. Go ahead and get certificates and you will know what I am talking about.
Restaurant. Com offered a toothbrush deal at Christmas. YEP I should have seen this coming. But i thought it was a good deal so i bought it. A month later it is not delivered and now they say it is my problem because USPS shows a ticket that is was delivered. HMMMM wonder who got a new toothbrush for Christmas? I thought they had a 100% guarantee on items I guess that is not true for actual Items. They need to stick to gift cards and not hard items.
The experience is bad. Customer service is bad. But most importantly the actual site/app/coupon/idea/gift card... even though it was free gift to me... is all a waste. I would not recommend using this to anyone. This is coming from an owner of one of the number one selling Groupons out there. It's basically disrespectful to give this as a gift to anyone.DO NOT BUY!
Purchased a Groupon thinking we had $100 to spend at restaurant.com for any restaurant as long as it was one on the site. Site said must spend minimum of $50, so we bought 2-$25 gift cards. Turns out had to spend $50 minimum at the restaurant itself to receive $25 off the bill. Extremely misleading both on Groupon and restaurant.com.
Very very disappointing. Buyer beware.
I too have been extremely disappointed by the redundancy in the restaurant choices and now the on-line crap that they're trying to sell.
The final straw is their "Gift Card" deal; which aren't really gift cards. They're just for more "Certificates" that you can use toward your total bill (up-to $25.00). One problem is that you don't know this "Fine Print" until after you've made the purchase.
Second, the cost is $40.00 for $100.00 worth of certificates.
I can buy individual $25.00 certificates, any time, for ONLY $4.00: THAT'S $16.00 FOR $100.00 WORTH OF CERTIFICATES!
Those Gift Cards are a rip-off, which is why they won't tell you ahead of time; and, why they won't give you a refund.
BUYER BEWARE.
This is a big waste of money!
They told me and sales me so much and told me I can cancel anytime. I tried I really tried but nothing works because they only have small unknown restaurants and the food are not good and the prices are high too. I can go to golden corral and get so much more food for the same prices.
When I try to cancel they keep dragging and told they will reply and/or call me back in couple of days but no reply or call back; so I called and they recognize my number so they won't answer until I used different number then they answered and told me they can't and won't refund my unused credit!
Avoid this at all costs. I have unused certificates that I have not been able to use for 5 years. I don't recognize a single restaurant on there and have to spend double or triple at the restaurant to even use the card even though I paid for the gift card!
I would highly recommend NOT using this website... I had a $100 credit for the website and it would not even let me redeem it on the website or on the app. So I spent $40 on my card not knowing and did not get refunded after a long phone call while being put on hold forever.
For a web-dependent system and service, it's the crappiest site and code I've ever run into, and as a result, it eats credits and funds despite the claim (never expires).
Thieves, pure and simple. It's not a mistake, that's just what they are. Stay away.
Great customer service. I made a mistake and used the wrong certificate at a restaurant. I thought it just disappeared. After writing customer service they gave me a new certificate and credited the restaurant that was not credited. My mistake but they made it right. Could not expect better service.
The site advertised $100 egift card for a restaurant in your area and 2 movie tickets for $30. It is supposedly a Valentines special. I purchased this deal for $30. It was very difficult to even get the info to print my certificates. Once I was able to print them the restaurant certificates printed out in $10 & $25 certificates, totaling $100. Each certificate has a minimum purchase per restaurant and it is double or almost double the amount of your certificate and you can only use 1 certificate per restaurant per month! I will never purchase any deal like this online again unless the site gives specific details before purchase. I am very disappointed with restaurant.com.
We tried to use the $50 off coupon only to find out you had to spend $100 to get $50 off when we tried to redeem it. Look at the fine print and don't take them at face value. Total regret! This is too good to be true and I consider it a scam
If everything else goes ok, it is only roughly 20% savings (no matter which coupon you buy). If you are happy with 20%, then it could be a good deal, again, if in all other aspects you are happy with.
Customer service is a joke. NEVER EVER buy from them. I fell for it and purchased some cards. Restaurant didn't want to take them. Finally they agreed to. Tried to trade one for a different card. What a joke and customer service is nonexistent.
Answer: Same thing happened to me. There is no live person to talk to. They will give you a credit to use on another voucher but you will probably run into the same problem.
Answer: Burn it! Restaurant.com is not going to work with you at all. They are scam artists
Answer: Most likely because of people like me. I had never heard of this company, but, was offered their cards as part of a promotion. After being burned, I took the time to post my opinion. Others may not take the time to caution others...
Answer: Yes you need to pay almost 5 times as much as you pay. Dont do that
Answer: Terms of use make it nearly impossible to redeem gift cards.
Answer: No restaurants directly accept the gift card at the restaurant.
Answer: Don't even bother
Answer: You probably can't since it is virtually impossible to reach the company. I wish I had a better answer for you.
Answer: Your question is not very clear but if your certificate is "unused" I assume that means it hasn't been used yet and it is available for you to use. Be sure to check for other possible restrictions and minimum purchases.
Answer: And when you call restaurant.com Theresa K or some other staff member will politely tell you, in essence, you don't have any $135 value. They will find a reason but they will suggest you spend more only to loss that too. Be cautious.
The company has garnered significant negative feedback, primarily centered around customer service failures and issues with account management. Many customers report lost funds and unresponsive support, leading to sentiments of being scammed. Additionally, the limited and outdated restaurant options have contributed to dissatisfaction, as customers frequently encounter closed establishments. While a few positive experiences are implied regarding the product concept, the overwhelming sentiment reflects frustration and distrust. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance communication, streamline account management, and ensure accurate listings of participating restaurants.
