“WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE IN THE BUSINESS”

KEVIN S.
11/25/20

The people that work for this company cannot stand their jobs. They have no idea what they are doing! They have the worst customer service skills and they simply do not care about their customers. Honestly a bunch of jerks. At least 50% should be fired because they really do not care about helping anyone at all. Timeshares are already a rip off as it is and this inept customer service just makes it worse.

They were totally unhelpful. I booked a room through them and realized they had misunderstood and booked me an extra day. I called(within 10 minutes) and explained that I meant to check out the 30th not stay that night. I am pretty sure that is how I put it but ok mistakes happen. They agreed to drop the extra day but raised by $80 per day the charge. I cancelled and called my credit card company and they had already put the charge through. I called back and cancelled. I checked out some other sites and ending up paying $272 per night with booking.com

They (scam artists) ruin your vacations with duress, lies & manipulative tactics. They didn't honor the attorneys letters. They applied on to my credit when the attorney letter stated otherwise.

I asked Resortcom for documentation on my time share in Cabo San Lucas at the end of January. It is now mid-March and I can't even get somebody to answer the phones even after stopping by their office in Las Vegas and being told to call back in a week. That was a month ago and still no documentation and no return phone calls. When I call Resortcom, nobody answers the phone and nobody returns messages.

We recently sold our winter week of our timeshare and were told we had to pay all maintenance fees for the winter week and our summer week. Now they are charging the new owners the maintenance fees. I have been calling for over 4 weeks to get this fixed with different answers every time. Finally they told me that my payment was gone, since i didn't specify that the fee was to go to the new owners. They are unethical and corrupt, plus they lie constantly.

They lie, they don't disclose everything a person needs to know. They cheat, fees for this and that, you don't know about. You can't get a hold of them. Etc... Their thieves. Stay away from these people

First of all the resorts that this company owns are absolutely beautiful and are a pleasure to stay at. The problem is with their horrible policies that they don't follow and then say that the written information in their confirmation is incorrect. I made a reservation at Villa Del Arco, Cabo San Lucas on December 5,2016. I called up the following day, December 6th to cancel as my wife has stage 4 lung cancer and cannot travel. The agent told me that there would be a $70.00 cancellation fee. According to the confirmation that I received "Rental Cancellation Policy: 30 days or more from arrival there is no cancellation fee." Our reservation was for Feb 9,2017. The agent told me that the confirmation letter that I received was incorrect. There is another paragraph that is a contradiction to the above in reservation confirmation. Cancellation Policy: Reservations cancelled are subject to a $70.00 rebooking fee. I'm not rebooking, I'm cancelling so that should not apply. So if you are thinking about buying a timeshare with this company, think twice. Once they have your money, they could care less about you.

I have cancer and have not worked a regular job for over 14 months. I explained y situation but they will not cancel my contract--threatening to turn me over to a collection agency--

There is no way to rate them with negative start but if there was I would say 100 negative stars.

I purchased my timeshare in 2005 in Cabo San Lucas at Villa Del Palmar thinking that the time share was in Cabo. I found out only when we arrived back home that they sold us a timeshare in their Puerto Vallarta location. I called them and asked them why they did this. I was told they had to because there were no timeshares to sell in Cabo and that it didn't matter which property was listed in my contract because I could stay at any of their properties. I argued that my timeshare was worth less because Puerto Vallarta is not as desirable as Cabo. I did get agreement on this point and was told that as soon as a timeshare opens up at one of their Cabo locations they would call me. Well, it's been 10 years and I'm still waiting for my phone call.
My other issue with them is that they charge fees for everything. If I didn't bank my week by September 1, I was charged a fee. If my maintenance fee was late I was charged a late fee. I even had some weeks that I couldn't use and they disappeared from my account. I had to pay almost $200.00 for each week to get them reinstated. All fees made up. Since this is not real property, the maintenance fee is not a loan so being late is not an issue. They operate in a bubble and get away with being theives. I'll give a great example of how they operate. I called them yesterday because I received an email about banking my timeshare week. Mind you that the email I received was on September 24, more than 3 weeks after the deadline to bank your week which is Sept. 1. I asked the person on the other end of phone about my weeks and which weeks needed to be banked. I was told my 2011 week needed to be banked to 2016 and that there was a $70.00 fee. I said but when I called in August to pay my maintenance fee and discussed my weeks nothing was said then about needing to bank this week. Nor was anything said a week later when one of my weeks was used to exchange with II. I asked which week is my oldest week and was told my 2011 week. I asked which week was used for the exchange in August. I was told the 2015 week. I was furious and asked why they did that. They responded with "I don't know". So, they use my 2015 week when they should have used the 2011 week. But then they wouldn't have been able to charge me the $70.00 fee to bank my week. I then made it clear that the email I received from them about banking my week came 3 weeks after the Sept 1 deadline and that this was disingenuous and a nefarious way of doing business. I was told that other emails did go out and the email I received was just a reminder. Prior to my phone call to them I searched my email account for all Resortcom emails and there was only one regarding banking weeks and that was dated September 24. What begs the question is this: Why aren't there any controls on companies like this? They continue to lie to and cheat people everyday to make Millions of dollars.

I bought a time share at the Cabo San Lucas Plaza Las Glorias in 1994. I have used this contract just about every year until Resortcom took over management in 2010. Since 2010, resortcom erroneously and fraudulently forclosed on my contract. It took me 9 months to get my time share contract reinstated. I had to show proof (reciepts for maintenance fees) paid for 2004 through 2011. After admitting that I was wrongfully placed in collections, resortcom collections refused to release my contract until I paid an extortion fee, and late charges on fees that were paid. How ridiculous and unfair. After much diligence and persistance I reach the hotel on my week, to find out that the resort had rented out my 2 bedroom suite and nothing but a one bedroom rack room was available.
I could have rented the room for 55 per night, instead the maintenance fees and extortion fees made the cost over 125.00 per night. At the resort I was told I would be compensated towards next years fees. That didn't happen, instead the maintenance fees went up 50% for 2013.
So I hope that anyone that reads this blog, runs from Resortcom or any time share deal.
I you insist on buying a time share, LOOK in classifieds anywhere, there are hundreds of timeshares for sale (pennies on the dollar).

Resortcom said that the extortion fees would be credited to my account and applied to next years maintenance fees. That didn't happen

While on vacation in Cabo San Lucas in April of 2009, my wife and I attended a presentation at Villa Del Arco for a timeshare with ResortCom International LLC. We were not interested in buying a timeshare, but we were offered free tickets for some excursions if we sat though their "no obligation" presentation. This "brief" presentation was supposed to last approximately an hour. It ended up being a six hour long intense sales pitch with a woman named Patti M. We were frustrated that this was wasting the better part of a day, but they seemed pleasant at first and kept bringing us plenty of free alcoholic drinks. When it was finally over, we were sat down to discuss our options. We declined the offer to buy numerous times. But they lowered the price each time and eventually offered us what sounded like a good deal. When we finally agreed to make the purchase, we were rushed through a closing process and signed the documents in under 10 minutes flat. Little did we know that when we signed the contract for our "slice of paradise", we were also signing to be haunted by a financial nightmare with no end in sight.

The employees at ResortCom misrepresented the material facts pertaining to the contract during the sales presentation. They told us various things that have been proven to be false. As that information was used to make the decision to ultimately make this purchase, the contract therefore was entered into fraudulently. We were told that this was real property and that this would be a prudent and gainful investment as it would be profitable in the long run - just like real estate. The truth of the matter is that this isn't real property and in fact is time and therefore holds no value, is not an asset and is absolutely not a prudent and gainful investment. Patti also told us that we could refinance it when we got home at a lower interest rate. We later found out that no bank lends on timeshares as mortgages which proves that she was lying to make a sale.

Patti also said that if we couldn't use the time at the resort, we just needed to call the resort and that they would rent it out for us. This was a major part of why we decided to buy. Later, when we called the resort to use this service, we were told that it wasn't true and that we were responsible for finding our own renter! She also mentioned in her pitch that we could sell our timeshare for a profit any time we chose. Patti said that because we were buying in so low, that it wouldn't be an issue at all to sell this down the road. Three years later and we are still unable to rid ourselves of this nightmare.

We were also sold on the fact that we could use this to travel all over the world and would be able to see a castle in England, or whatever we desired. We have no interested in returning to Mexico year after year. What wasn't disclosed to us was that in order to travel to other resorts, we would have to be members of Interval International and that came with another fee. To then book something with Interval International brought to light yet another fee. So this entire concept of traveling anywhere at any time was an utter lie and fraught with undisclosed fees in a system that is oversold with zero availability based on our attempts to make reservations.

ResortCom also failed to mention that after our initial investment of thousands of dollars we would be stuck paying maintenance fees that continue to increase. This was never once mentioned in the sales presentation. Not only were the increases not disclosed to us, they have also gone up over 50% in the three years that we have owned the timeshare. Even worse than that, is the fact that it is impossible to book our annual week long vacation that we paid so dearly for. We found out that we had to book our stay a year in advance every time. Unfortunately, every time we called to make our reservation, the place was completely booked and we could never get in. Three years and thousands of dollars later and we still have not been able to use our timeshare!

The option to cancel was never pointed out to us. When we reviewed our contract when we returned home from vacation, we noticed that we had three days after signing to cancel. We found it interesting that the rescission period is so short that most people are still on vacation in Mexico when it runs out. We were and the last thing that we would have done while there is sit down and review the contract while on our short and hard-earned vacation.

It didn't take long for us to realize that this was a huge mistake. We were lied to and mislead from the very beginning. The Resortcom International representatives are manipulative and their practices are unethical. We have done everything we can to try to get out of our contract. Resortcom will not help us in anyway. For the first two years we kept up on our end of the bargain and paid the bills every month even though the company ignored us and we saw nothing in return. We eventually decided to stop paying in an attempt to make them take the timeshare back. We sent them a detailed letter explaining our situation. Instead, they sent us to collections and ruined our perfect credit.

Three years later and Resortcom has not only cheated out of thousands of dollars and destroyed our credit, but they refuse to acknowledge any of our complaints. We recently hired an attorney to help us with this matter, which has cost us more money on top of all the money we have lost.

We have also taken our complaints to outside agencies such as the Better Business Bureau and Profeco - Mexico's version of the BBB, designed to protect consumers against abuses or fraud by companies operating in Mexico. The BBB can't do much because the timeshare company is in Mexico and Profeco has not been in the least bit helpful even though it is their responsibility. It took them six months to respond to our first letter and when they finally did, they told us that there was not much they could do. Profeco is supposed to protect the rights of the consumer, but they have done nothing to help us. We are extremely disappointed with them.

We know now that this timeshare was a worthless investment. We can't use it. We can't sell it. We can't give it away. We have been met with so many restrictions, it is clear that this was never meant to be used, but to simply be sold and scam money from tourists. We are so frustrated and angry that we were roped into such a terrible scam.

At this point, we just want Resortcom International to drop the collections and take back their timeshare so we can restore our credit. We just want this nightmare to end.

I booked in PVR for a few days and the agent offered me a deal on a few days of all inclusive. All I had to do was pay a USD fee, almost $300 for 3 days, and pre-pay my maintenance fee for the following year. There was no mention of points required. This was suppose to be a special offer. Later I found out at a sale update that they used over 900 points as well. I said, "whatttt!". Calls to ResortCom were useless as they just covered up the lies and deception. They have nice resorts and most of the staff are very good. Too bad the booking agency is so poor when you have a problem to resolve.
