My credit card was charged immediately - making it next to impossible to get a refund.(They have a no refund policy - the motel itself does NOT). The reason I wanted to cancel this reservation was because right after completing the transaction I found a different company to get the room booked through at considerably less than this one charges.

While trying to book a hotel near Midway Airport, I found this place with good reviews and a decent price. Unfortunately, there was no 'Heads Up' notification that it would cost me $15.99 just to book a room that I could have done on my own. I've booked many an event, hotel, flight, and car online with no opportunistic fees. Even if I were an idiot, stupid, or distracted, I don't know Reservation Counter, never heard of sitejabber, but I do feel jabbed.
I called to change the date of my stay, but couldn't change despite a dead-end button labeled Modify.
They have already charged my credit card for the night, something I've never had happen with a hotel reservation until I actually stayed. They refuse to change my reservation or to refund the charge although their cancellation policy even says no additional charges for changes, so I'm calling BS on Reservation Counter and so should you.

Answer: Trying to cancel a reservation, the rote voice said it did not recognize the phone number, even though it was the same phone I used to make the reservation. Then asked if the reservation confirmation number started with an R. I said No. It asked me several more times. I kept answering No. Then it told me to call the hotel for help and hung up. Called the hotel. They said they could not cancel since the reservation was made through a third-party company. That I would have to cancel through ReservationCounter. (Oh, by the way, I had tried to use the online Cancellation page - it doesn't work.) It was very difficult to get through to anybody and there were very long waits in between. I will never use this company again.
