Snowflake territory
November 7, 2019

It used to be a fairly good place to engage in discussion but the power of being able to silence others got to them and now it's just a meeting place for far left screamers to go and shout their outrage at everybody else. Any dissenting views quickly get censored and silenced. A platform for people who hate, so long as you hate the "right" people.

Try this for yourself: Post the simple phrase "I like Trump.", whether you do or not, and see how fast you get attacked, abused and banned. Three words. It doesn't matter where your views lie nobody of any political or moral standpoint or view should ever give any credence to a platform that so quickly and brutally jumps on you for not simply repeating their own mantra.

Recently a new user to the reddit platform. Not more than 2 minutes after posting the question "what does spirituality mean to you"; with a photograph of clouds in the form of a heart; a moderator blocked my account from posting and the moderator went as far as to insult me calling me entitled as if I feel then world revolves around me or that I'm owed something and called my photograph and question inappropriate.
Within these couple of minutes the platform showed that it does not respect anyone's free speech or rights to.expression.
Never expected to be insulted by an app or the moderators on an app for posting something beautiful but they did just that.
Emailed the contact available online but that's proving to be as useless as the mindset of the moderators.

I joined Reddit many years ago, it was a helpful place, you could get help with all manner of things, now though the majority of it is just pure vile trash, it's run by conspiracy nuts, it's mods are power hungry arseholes, it's not a safe place to be, many of its users are predatory, hating in anything different, they form gangs/cliques and terrorise other members, I have seen it go from a place to get help and hang out with like minded people and discuss things to every second post being conspiracy or hate fueled garbage. If you value you mental health stay away from Reddit, it will suck your will to live and leave you a shell of your former self.

Reddit is the kind of place where if you write the sentence "Hitler was a Nazi and said he didn't like jews," you will be banned for hate speech. Mods will witch hunt users they don't like permanently banning them. The entire sites viewpoints lean so far left they are bordering on fascism and the amount of anti-American content regurgitating bots is so large that posts from 10 years ago will get dig up on re-posted on a weekly basis.

It is an awful place for discussion if you don't plan on being a parrot for ultra liberal ideology leaving the same 50 or so comments on every post. Can you even call that a discussion?

No.

NOT user friendly
March 23, 2018

I came to reddit only for the sake of one group to discuss topic that I am interested in. I started to make comments, and first of all, on my second (!) comment it said I am doing it too much, so I have to wait n-minutes. Next, after I finally submitted 3 comments, and spent time writing them... they just deleted it because i am a new user and I need to quote "lurk" for some time! This is such a nonsense. I never seen big social website which was made so user unfriendly. If not this specific group, I would never come back. Still not sure if I will. Really made me feel that they don't care about their users.

Anti-User Policies
June 10, 2023

Reddit is going out of it's way to actively harm it's user base. They've demonstrated they value nothing but money and will happily introduce harmful policies to achieve greater profits. Their default app is unusable.

There are a lot of ads that disguise themselves as posts from your most visited sub by stealing its group icon. Its deceptive and degenerate.

Moderators can flag you as "troll" or any other humiliating title, single you out and ban anyone who doesn't share their viewpoint.

What you're left with are echo chambers of toxic people who think they can insult whatever group they want with impunity because the moderators of the group share the same hatred for the group.

Sometimes you post and no one even looks at your post or comments on it? How do you know whether others can see it? Sorry, you don't meet some karma limit or other unknown requirement for posting on a group. It's frustrating.

If someone in your household gets banned, you get banned also. No way to argue the ban.

I leave Reddit more miserable than before I look at it. So thanks Reddit, I'll leave you with a 1 star, that's what you get for treating your users like garbage.

If you want to have nothing but far-left propaganda on a constant loop, and a community of far-left people all patting themselves on the back, then look no further than Reddit!

By actively suppressing and banning anyone with a dissenting viewpoint, Reddit is turning itself into the perfect model of Orwellian control to kill free speech.

Not surprising, since they recently accepted a lot of Chinese money.

I was warned that stating that I didn't understand could you please elaborate in my words was inappropriate. I tried to reply as if it were communist China communication. For whatever reason I was still blocked with an error message stating something went wrong... this platform has gone from bad to worse in the worst way. I can't even say "I would like to view this article, do you happen to have the source?" Hmmm... reddit is no longer reputable in my book.

I've written about Election '16 for over a year. I always write about understanding people's apprehension with Trump and why I would never have voted for Clinton. Each post I make on this subject I get a slap on the wrist email telling me how disrespectful I am and if I keep it up I will be banned. My blogs are mostly humorous and always fair. There is never profanity but I always get warnings. Reddit should state up front that only liberals are welcome to share.

I signed up for reddit to get some answers about some internet issues I was having and they removed my post. Then a few days later I posted a question in "cars" asking about labor rates at dealerships (did NOT mention the dealership or location in post) because I thought I was overcharged and they immediately removed the review. What in thee hell is wrong with this site? I closed my account after fighting to find how to do so on their site. Ugh! Go somewhere else if you want answers.

Too hard to use
October 11, 2017

If I could find my way around it, I would use it. I also noted a lot af really nasty stuff being said that really should not be allowed. I dont read reviews filled with personal comments and swear words, so why have them?

Open discrimination
March 2, 2020

The site appears to be full of communists who engage in heavy group-think and in group/out group harassment, brigading, slander and spread of fake news. Any casual disagreement will likely have you banned. Freedom of speech doesn't exist here.

It's absolutely horrible with what Facebook just went through regarding their lack of control of bullying and content on their site. Reddit is no different and the moderators on some subs seem to do a pretty decent job while others have a false sense of power to ban people or do nothing. I was actually banned for two days for stating that I thought a particular actor on a TV show was "terrible". I laughed. One of the worst things about it is you can't really report a moderator for their infraction of the rules because when you do… Reddit doesn't even bother to contact you back, so nothing happens.

I think the absolute worst thing is The bullying from people that are too mentally small to do their own research. They feed off one another like the children they are so if you want to have an intelligent conversation about something… It's nearly impossible. I guess it's a matter of trying to find the right site for intelligent conversations, if there is such a thing.

Scary
April 27, 2018

Just started to post on reddit.com. A bit scary and shocked. First this website gives you the impression to be very correct. It is not. Moderators run this website like a junta. They block post for whatever reason. The overall attitude is very bad. Bashing, trashing and trolling. Only negative posts gets all the karma. Most members imo are college students or youngster in their early twenties/thirties. Not the most social group. Very nasty and picky. Scary

Botes and biased moderators
September 25, 2022

One of the many dangers of Reddit, much like Wikipedia, is the fact that anyone can publish links to the site in the hope of having their content seen and it making the fabled front page. The problem is that unlike Wikipedia what they enter doesn't have to be accurate, truthful or even real.
The moderators often will ban you if they don't like your opinion even if said respectfully. Very biased and promotes group think not critical thinking.

I hate this because of two reasons. One is that, when a post of mine is removed by a mod because it doesn't fit their pages topic, it makes my original post look awful and misunderstood. Two is because, there is always that one person on every one of my post that comments something nasty, inappropriate, or offensive. Sure I could down vote it but in all reality, no one wants to see that… I've been using this app for 6 months and I love it it's just my only problem with it is that when a post is deleted the comments are not. I like this app however because you can get some pretty helpful advice from people on here and you can read some interesting stuff.

For me, reddit IS the internet. I get all my news there; it's the source of the funniest and most interesting stuff online; and it's a genuine community of people who interact with each other... a lot. We really do have a hive mind on reddit, for better or worse. If you're trying to use reddit for marketing, forget about it: we can sniff out commercialism.

I posted on Reddit about a dislike of some well known people. Out of the blue I received a mob of very hateful teenagers maligning my posts and even posting personal information about it. I have no clue how they found personal info but they were very malicious and it was bad. On Reddit, if you report people for personal info, harassment nothing is done and the victim gets banned.

The level of hate and evil these bullies have isn't normal. It is a cesspool of very deranged disturbed people and something needs to be done about this website. The mods don't care and people there are cowards who sit behind computers just trying to ruin people.
