Technomonarchs censoring free speech. Welcome to the Orwellian future we all laughed about for a long time.
Censorship everywhere, mods are a bunch of whining kids who feel the need to have elevation over others and slience any one going against them
Reddit bans and blocks anyone who disagrees with the mainstream narrative. Project Vertias, The_Donald... ect.
Reddit is a nice place to grab memes and look at funny pictures of cats. But, if you want to be a part of the community, please be advised that there's almost a subreddit for everything. If you post to the right subreddits, you should be fine.
Some users will get what is called "reddit gold" if someone likes their content enough. I've seen people get reddit gold for both good and bad things. As for bad things, (since this is sitejabber not sitepraiser) I've unfortunately seen people get Reddit Gold for ratting on a guy whose wife passed away. Yes, it was a dark joke and having a dark sense of humor myself, I kind of understood. But it was directed at another user who was going through a tragedy.
Also, there are some subreddits that you can be yourself on if it's relevant to the particular subreddit you're opening up on.
But beware that just like any other place in the world, there's rude people galore...
The truth is, you can be anything you want on the internet. Most people, especially on the internet, choose not to be themselves but rather fit in with a particular community because they are afraid of the ridicule they *could* get for being their authentic selves. Others will choose to be themselves and express their true emotions nakedly wherever they go. And if you tell your life story, even if it's completely harmless, there's always someone in the corner who doesn't respect it.
The fact is, most of these people are kids. And by kids I mean ages 9-17. Children love places like reddit because it's just one of many places where they can feel and act edgy without their parents spanking them and/or taking their fidget spinners away. So do not be discouraged if you see a few of these on Reddit. It wouldn't be the internet without them, after all.
My advice to you is just post to the right subreddits and you will most likely be fine. Once you can learn where to post certain things, you will most likely enjoy reddit, too!
After being insulted by some yo yo, my account was suspended permanently by Reddit. This dude called me a drug addict after reading a post I placed in his Rob Zombie section. Idk if knows Rob's lyrics, but they are unique in that they incorporate classic horror movies, fast cars, science fiction, and other intense subjects into some of the most picturesque poetry metal music has ever seen even unto this day. I did my best attempt to recreate a mood in my fellow readers by informing them of my acquaintance with the ex drummer of Rob's band, White Zombie, and where fans cod come into contact with this amazing drummer that took part in the establishment of one of metal's premiere albums "La Sexorcisto". I guess my attempt wasn't recognized by this person, as he accused me of being a drug addict. I then told him he was unimaginative, and proceeded to check out his profile which was not locked to public viewing. I saw he was starting to play guitar ( no, he was not a little kid, adolescent, or anything else who's dreams would be squashed due to my harrassment. Instead, I gave him some advice. I wasnt in the mood to be "mommy" to him, but told him that if he asked anyone how to play ac/dc music, he would be ridiculed, so dont do it. Next thing you know i get a text from Reddit's mental health support group which, if they had done their due diligence they would have seen what was going on, asked me if everything was ok with my life and that they were there to help me. Huh? Pansies... Anyway, after I asked Mr. Twinkie if he had sent this, I was permanently deleted for i dont know what... I did make an appeal, five days ago,. And have heard nothing since. Overall, from my intended use of reddit, which I abandoned, the experience sucked. Its like the communists and nazi's had a kid and social media'd it until it thought it was a big boy, but its a bully and, unfortunately, you cant teach it the lesson all bullies really need. So, basically, its not worth my time, or anyone else's unless you want to whine and $#*! and moan and yadda yadda yadda... Good night!
Very good site for quality traffic. Spam free site, no one able to do spamming activities. I love Reddit specially for whitepeopletwitter subreddit.
This site is loaded with pointless content top to bottom. Most of the focus is on the upvotes and downvotes, namely on the poster's reputation.
They ban braincels for inciting hatred and violence while they literally just post funny memes while IncelTears bullies men and they can stay.
The admins are pretty hardcore left-wingers, and endorse subreddits that harass and attack people the admins don't like.
I love hanging around in the photoshop battles subreddit to and submit my own editings. Its a nice laugh!
A LOT of really helpful subreddits. Just avoid politics. Great for nsfw topics, online games, memes, restaurant suggestions.
There is A LOT of problems from Reddit in general especially over the past few years where everyone seem to get in trouble over some petty BS on subreddits to can't even comment or post about a certain subreddit that you want too due to low "Karma" on your account. It makes no sense to me either and can see why it drives away people from using that website. And the "Blackout" that happen earlier this year which was just jarring to watch because it only happen a few days for the protest to be ineffective because you know... A lot of sub reddits was back in business like nothing have ever happened and Reddit is a million dollar company so it takes more than a few days at least for the entire company see a noticeable decline for profit that can cause great effects for the company to maybe change for the better? This is all for 3rd party applications that going to (or was since some did got discontinue due to this policy change) charged WAY too much money to even be used to the public by reddit standards. Some admins on certain threads on different sub's are too much of a $#*! to deal with and honestly I rather not be friends with most of them...
Besides all of that negative stuff that I have seen and encountered Reddit isn't a bad place to visit time to time with sub-reddits that you pick and choose. And it's fairly straightforward to block out and hide content that you really do not want to see. It's one of the only few websites that I actively go on and see what people say about certain things of life events or advice in general. It's still a decent enough tool to use but that's what I mainly use it for. Since it is a social media platform with all kinds of people using it you will encounter some $#*!s, idiots and not so bright people on there. Some will just simply ignore you which in that case, $#*! 'em.
This review is for Half Price Books on West-port Kansas City Mo. I went in there to sell some books, movies and games. The books were Distributional Justice Theory and Measurement; Regional Anesthesia Analgesia and Pain Management; Malpractice and Medical Liability; 5 brand new paperback books; 1 wii game and 1 play station game. All the books are brand new and two of the books are listed on there website for the original going price of 184.00. Same book is listed on Amazon for 206.00. They are ripping people off and I think it is sickening. They didn't think I knew what my books were worth and tried to take advantage of me. Now I don't expect to get the full retail value but atleast a descent percentage and the fact that I had all that stuff and expensive books and they only offered me $13.00 when they are selling one of my books on their site for almost $200. I felt this needed to be mentioned, I bet they get a lot of people in there that don't know any better and will just take the price they give for the books. They have you go walk around while they make up these ridiculous prices. I am a reseller I buy merchandise by the pallet and I am always getting expensive books that I sell on ebay and amazon I went online to find a place to sell some of the books quicker and came across half price books, I called them and they said they couldn't give quotes over the phone and that they took all kinds of books but I would need to come down there in order to get a quote. I told them I would be driving far and needed them to at least quote one of my books and they declined so I drove down there and had my intelligence insulted with the price they gave of $13 please don't waste your time with this company, they are ripping people off like no tomorrow!
The moderators can ban you from certain groups and NEVER respond to your queries about why you were banned.
I will start off with what made me decide to post in R/rateme then eventually in R/truerateme.
My photo was getting used on yahoo answers. The poster would post questions with it like "why is she so ugly " and "is this a man" and answerers would reply nasty things regarding my make up, saying I did look like a man and all these awful things that crushed my self esteem.
I in the meantime had a reddit account for a while, I saw how constructive a lot of people seemed there. So a few days ago I checked out the rate me sub. Posted my photos according to the rules. Got no responses back. Then I discovered R/truerateme. I read the comments under a few other females posts, they seemed pretty fair.
So I posted a few of my perceived best photos in there. First post I was scrutinised for not using angles that most others were using, having a bit of make up on (which they made seem like a lot and said it was poorly applied).
So after I had a shower that night in my time, I wore more natural make up (ditched the Smokey eyes I usually sport for the night), I took a front view photo which probably wasn't the best I could've done but at this point I was so stressed and upset it wasn't gonna look good. But I figured it wouldn't matter as they claimed to just analyse the features of your face. And no I didn't expect a big rate I knew they had rigid standards so realistically I expected a 5-7/10.
Instead I got 2 ratings of a 2/10 and a 3/10. People telling me I wasn't my age just because the photo made me look older than usual. And others reverting back to what the Y! A people had to say, I look like a man.
Not only has my self esteem being completely crushed but I now have no drive to do anything because I feel hideous and undeserving to continue life.
I have been banned from reddit a few times, mostly due to arguments with little children on there. I unwisely took a new account and decided to start making a few comments with it. Like clockwork, got a hugely nasty response from a poster, which tends to happen whenever you start using a new message board for some reason. I knew where this was going, so I engaged the person and their friends. I'm 40 and have lived and worked life, so I embarrassed a few and blocked one guy who just wouldn't let up but wouldn't admit he didn't know what he was talking about.
I proceeded to try and comment on a few other sites and basically was karma-blocked from posting. Basically, because people downvoted my comments on the first board, I wasn't allowed to comment on others. Somehow or the other, I think it was worldnews, figured out I was using an alternate account to comment and banned me, followed by reddit banning the account completely.
Imagine being banned from Wal-Mart for going to customer service for a regular problem and then trying to shop there again and patronize them, only to get banned again simply for just shopping. That's reddit's problem. It's not a public website anymore. It's a club, even though reddit would thrive with more users. There are so many rules, so many nasty users that it's impossible to use.
The moderators especially are out of control. I said to myself that moderators on all message boards need some oversight from people who own the site. They should be actively punished for banning people who aren't bots. Site owners should look up any mod who has unusually high ban numbers and evaluate them. If they are trying to be tyrants and are banning people undeservingly, they should not be allowed to moderate anymore. So many of them think they are dictators and enjoy abusing their power. This is a business, not a high school lunch table. Reddit needs to start acting like it's a business and encourage people to patronize it.
I $#*!ING hate this company. They should burn in hell for creating a communist social media platform.
Saw that Reddit had a USPS forum (not officially connected to USPS) for questions and answers so I posted a question re: an international tracking issue. I was able to track a package in Poland, leaving Poland, arriving at US Customs, then arriving at USPS in Miami. I wondered if anyone knew why tracking now says "invalid tracking number, non-trackable". I did call USPS first, was told after a lengthy wait that "We can only tell you what you see yourself when you track!", which is always helpful, especially when they follow that with a cheery, "Thanks for being a USPS customer!"
A Reddit moderator removed my post, said it violated policy, that you can't ask for help with finding a package. I replied, said that I did NOT ask for help finding a package; I didn't give a tracking number, a name, an address, nothing at all related to finding the package, I just wondered why a working tracking number is now called invalid. Got a LONG reply with 101 listed Reddit rules, none of which I broke. The reply was canned, automated, indifferent.
I wrote reddit again, got another reply, this time telling me that I CAN post a question about USPS tracking but that it has to be a "general" one. My original post WAS general! No name, address, tracking number, zilch! What did I do wrong, was I not supposed to call the freaking package "MY package"? I tried to reply and found that they've blocked me from replying. Oh, the pain, how shall I survive.
I won't use Reddit again, totally pointless to go to a USPS questions forum and find that dozens of USPS topics aren't allowed because they might promote "incivility". Yeah, asking why a tracking number suddenly goes "invalid" must really make USPS people get riled. Also ridiculous that power hungry Reddit mods enforce "rules" with no regard to context, talk to you like they're machines and you're a NON-valued user.
Web 2.0 tools have made sharing tastes, interests, and more than anything stories more possible than ever. Social news and networking sites are the primary vehicles for this exchange of information, with different sites geared toward different methods of distribution.
Reddit accomplishes this by focusing on separating the wheat from the chaff. Rather than subscribing to and individual's account and following their postings, you subscribe to groups called "subreddits" focused on areas of interest. Claiming to be the front page of the internet, they allow you to control what content you see on your personalized homepage by which subreddits you subscribe to. Subreddits vary wildly in size, seriousness, and topic of interest (with everything from the general r/funny sub-reddit to r/hardcoreaww, which hosts content of normally terrifying animals like lions being adorable).
In order to separate the wheat from the chaff, Reddit uses a point system it calls karma. As long as you have an account (which is free and doesn't even require an email address), you can either "upvote" or "downvote" a submission signifying your approval or disapproval. If the submission is a link to another site on the internet, an upvote earns the author positive karma and a downvote earns negative karma, ensuring quality content. In addition, each subreddit has its only rules regarding what can and cannot be submitted, with dedicated moderators enforcing them.
Reddit is best used as a resource for discovering information and crowd-based opinions. Its weak points are arguably in its poor interface for viewing a specific member's contributions, and re-posting of content by users in an attempt to gain more karma on their account (even though it has no real world value).
Answer: Absolutely cancer. Unless you're an NPC without a brain of your own.
Answer: Use sitejabber, much better. Since they don't make you jump through hoops to post a review and they don't censor negative reviews. TONS of bad sites online. TONS of corrupt sites. Clean up the internet. Break up these monopolistic companies.
Answer: Don't trust reviews from reddit because the site is censored to get rid of negative reviews. Censored by corrupt moderators and admins.
Reddit has a rating of 1.4 stars from 528 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Reddit most frequently mention free speech, social media and front page. Reddit ranks 499th among Social Network sites.
