If I could put 0 stars I would. I was charged for a disk that was returned the very next day.
I wrote, I called, I was charged anyway. Very frustrating. I will NEVER use Redbox again.
They are THIEVES! I was charged triple then what the renting price was. They send u emails with free promos that don't even exist. I know there scams already. They will send u an email that u will get a free movie for one night. So u go pick a movie put the bs promo they send u. Then the promo u enter they can never find it in the system because its been. So now u picked a movie u really want to watch but u can't because the promo was bull$#*!t. So u have to pull out ur credit card and pay for it. I caught on to ur scam REDBOX! NEVER AGAIN WILL I USE UR BULL$#*!T RED BOX! PEOPLE PAY ATTENTION TO HOW MUCH THEY REALLY CHARGE U! THIEVES
I preface this with it's all my opinion & best of memory: I used to rent 2 to 4 movies a week from Redbox. Now I get the majority from the library or Walmart $3 or $5 bin.
Back when there were several movie box companies & it was a $1 per night (about 2010-2013).
If they messed up, they went ABOVE & beyond to make it right. IN MY OPINION ALL THE FOLLOWING
As they now control probably 95% of the rental market.
If they goofed yor bill & WAY over changed you, it was refunded & free movie movie code.
When they sent you to the wrong box location, give you a choice refund $1 & free movie code. Etc ABOVE & beyond what is called for.
Then
They turned to JUST free movie codes that expired. To avoid giving your money back.
Then became stringy with those.
Then without notice that I remember getting, (probably micro print somewhere)
They changed 1000 points to 1500 to get a movie. I found out when I got hit for 1500 instead of 1000.
Now
They falsely Advertised 5x points any rental, but give you none. I'll save the email.
12/28/18 through 12/31/18. On 12/29/18, twice I clicked the email, both times 0 points. So I deleted it & called.
They apparently don't care & said "ok can I do anything else for you?" They hadn't done anything.
Don't use redbox, I wonder if they're headed towards bankruptcy?
Rent movie, can't return machine broken. I'm in rural Alabama. Not a lot of choices. Broke for several days which they charge me for daily rental?
Tried disputing a charge and had terrible customer service and said there was nothing they could do. Will not be using their services again.
I have rented movies from Redbox for a while. The intermittent issues with discs is troublesome. They also have very poor customer service.
The one thing I dislike is the RE-RELEASE idea. Would be great if when reserving or selecting videos at kiosk client would get alert on any previously rented items.
How does a business that rents movies not have trailers on many of their movies?
This seems crazy to me!
They advertise movies that are not available at Redbox, go OnDemand, what a joke total waist of time don't waste yours.
Customer service hung up on me. Told me to deal with by looking at my account, I am like that's what I am doing. The disk was unplayable.
I have been a renting member of RedBox for over 10 years although not as much recently. I am 58 years old, and now ill with cancer, and thought renting a video might lift my spirits. When I went to return one of the 2 videos I rented, I could not find one of them in the car. It either fell out of the car or was taken from the car. So out of over a 100 movies rented from Redbox, and never having failed to return one, I was charged almost $36.
IT DIDN'T MATTER THAT I HAD CALLED THE DAY AFTER I RENTED IT TO EXPLAIN THE SITUATION.
I was told that after 17 days of rental fees, I would be charged a final fee (the $36 fee above).
I could buy the video and replace it for about $20. So I am being punished like a small child by being charged $36.
Either way, Redbox put be on hold multiple times, both the day I lost it, and 17 days later when I was charged.
I was told the first time I called that they were hopeful that a compromise could be made in the charge.
The second time I called, like I said, after putting me on hold multiple times, that their system is automated, and nothing could be done. WHY PUT ME ON HOLD WHEN YOU ALREADY KNOW THE OUTCOME... no deal! I feel abused.
I wish the boxes were inside, but it's convenient to use them. They usually have the movies I want to see and normally are in good shape.
We have been using Redbox for years. Most recently, our family rented a movie only to be charged close to $31 three weeks AFTER WE RETURNED the movie. Redbox lost us as a customer!
I have stopped renting so frequently, because a lot of their movies are too dark (lighting) or as with most, the volume is very low
I was informed there policy is you are purchasing as is and they will not return your money when you get the movie home and it does not work.
U have to use your debit or credit card then you only get 1 night or they charge ur card so you have to back to a box the next day
Redbox had charged me 53 dollars for a movie that I had already returned and they won't give me a refund.
RedBox has a rating of 1.8 stars from 188 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with RedBox most frequently mention customer service, free movie and credit card. RedBox ranks 191st among DVD sites.
