RedBox claimed that a disc wasn't returned, and that it is not showing in their record on their kiosk and that the technician didn't report it. So despite having talked to customer service via livechat, their call center, and Facebook Messenger, they will not reverse the charge because my experience was not a "valid claim." I stood at the kiosk and browsed titles after it thanked me, and no indication that it didn't accept my return. I'm extremely disappointed with the brand itself and with the customer service. They can afford a $32 error on their end much more than I can. What an embarrassment of a company. Extremely dissatisfied.
Accidentally returned the case without the movie in it. Realized the mistake and called customer service to find out how to return the movie properly. Mind you the have the case in the machine that I paid a maintenance fee on in with rental. They told me the only thing I can do is buy another case for $1.50 and return it in that case. This is theft and extortion, you pay for the case you already rented or you buy the movie. I am beyond furious.
So now Redbox has taken to double billing accounts. I rented two movies. I returned them the following day (before 9pm - the allotted time before they cycle out again). They billed my account for the rentals. That was fine. But then they billed my account again for the same amount. When I called them the rep. Told me that it was a pre-authorization charge (first time for that one) and that the money would be returned to my account in 3-5 business days. WTH!? NEVER AGAIN! I'll stick to getting my movies from Netflix.
Downloaded this app 3 days ago for the Kindle Fire. I must say its much easier and faster than logging on to my PC. Concise and easy to use, if you use Redbox and a Kindle Fire this is a must have application.
I signed up online and my account name was changed, I was signed up to 2 different websites, and when I tried to log on, the website said my password was wrong but my transaction went through and I was charged. Also, on that day, a dollar was charged to a cable company, and today a fraudulent attempt was made that the bank caught and stopped. I think my card was stolen from there.
They keep increasing the rental prices and dont put many new movies. They raked the money in the good times but dont reinvests in the slow times. Ive been a loyal customer over the years. Time to go with streaming services. Redbox sucks.
You spend over $2 for one night of a movie and then it barely even runs. It's probably on my end (crappy USB blu-ray player), but you'd think they could manage to get working DVDs?
I do like the deals, though.
My family and I use Redbox monthly. Since movie stores are obsolete this is a convenient way to watch new movies when they come out on disc. The majority of the time Redbox has the movies before they're on Cable Satellite or Netflix. The ONLY complaint that I have, and it really is out if their control, is 3/10 times the movies we REALLY want to see are out of stock. I just got to get there quicker;-)
I got a gift card for Redbox and because I live in the year 2022 I don't own a DVD player but I cannot use the gift card to rent a movie online. I even called Redbox assuming that there was some way to use the gift card online and was informed that their gift cards only work on Kiosks. What year is this really? This gift card is a piece of garbage!
Update: I've noticed the dishonesty in this company as they delete your Google Play reviews, save their image and not their customer.
The original concern:The customer care team could use a lot of work. When reaching out to their *******@redbox.com email, the team doesn't acknowledge your inquiry. I waited two weeks for a response and have attempted a 2nd email and at this point nothing. It shouldn't take 2 emails and an app review to receive a response. I would rather spend my money somewhere else at this point.
Do not rent from redbox, said I didnt return my movies and charged me 66.00 for 2 crappy movies I did return them but they said that after 17 days they consider movies as sold, I returned mine in 15 days!
I have used redbox since they opened, and today I woke up to a $35 charge on my creditcard, for a movie that I returned 3 days after watching. I spoke to a manager who told me they. Have 3 ways of checking for a return, and saw nothing of my return. I will never use them again!
Yes, Redbox is a cheap way to rent movies, but there isn't always a good selection. I always visit the redbox when I see one but always get disappointed because I couldn't find one movie I wanted to rent after going through all the pages. Sometimes I will find one or two, but most of the time I can't. But that's just me. For the most part, it's fun and easy.
I rented and returned video and was charged $36 for a video. I worked customer service via chat and all they could offer was reimbursing my for $15. The customer service member was nice but their policy/methodology for tracking video transactions/returns needs to be changed. I think I may rent via my cable service or another method.
I like redbox mainly for movie rentals. It's super cheap. I would like to use it for video game rentals too, but there is virtually no selection for xbox 360. If you have a PS4 you will have a lot more options for video games.
I rented two DVDs and returned both movies the next day. A few weeks later I get charged for 37 dollars. I contacted customer service and was told only one of the two movies was returned. I know I returned both. I asked if it was possible the bar code wasn't read and was told that a technician checks the entire machine and that it wasn't there and hasn't been rented since so I must still have it. I do not still have it. He said there's nothing they can do so now I have to eat $30 for a crappy movie that they have and will continue to rent and make money on. Reading other reviews, it's apparently a common scam Redbox is pulling, because how can you prove otherwise? Never using Redbox again.
The title says it all 45 commercials, we counted them, on an 89 minute movie. Pitiful! This has so disgusted us that we will not even rent from the kiosk anymore!
I returned a movie and the Redbox machine offered "$1 off your next rental" which I immediately agreed to use. After swiping my credit card to pay for my next rental the Redbox seemed to hang up for about 3-5 minutes and would not respond to pressing any buttons, etc. The machine finally came back with a message that the "discount code has already been used", which I thought was related to the hung-up machine somehow making an error. I felt that Redbox Customer Service would correct the mistake so I went ahead and reentered my credit card and got charged the full amount, no discount. When I later called Customer Service the Rep told me that this was a "legitimate charge" and refused to credit the discount. I told him there was NO INDICATION that the code had already been used when I initially went ahead with the rental and that it appeared to be a machine error. I told him the whole thing was a scam. IT IS A SCAM. Redbox should refund the full amount of the rental.
So, I rented about 20 movies with redbox before i finally opened my formal acct. All my prior rentals were, however, connected to the same email as i used in my acct.
Do think they would give me the stupid points towards a free rental? I mean, I did rent the movies. I just didnt have their little website acct. Set up yet. All these vendors think that we are all just so enamored with their fabulous websites. We are not. We do it because we have to to get free junk. Anyway, redbox will only give points for future purchases. I said that would be a problem because I will no longer rent any movies from redbox because they make me chat with some person in china that barely speaks english and then after that nightmare, they cant give the points... just because... as if that is a satisfactory answer. Ok well redbox now you can FOAD... look it up
I ordered two ice cream makers in October of 2021, It is now March of 2022 I have never received the items I have emailed customer service at least 5 times. Rad box does not get back to you and their tracking numbers do not work, Does anyone know how you get your money back from this company? WORST COMPANY SERVICE EVER!.
RedBox has a rating of 1.8 stars from 188 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with RedBox most frequently mention customer service, free movie and credit card. RedBox ranks 191st among DVD sites.
