Quora is quickly going the way of CB radio. CB started as a useful tool, but before long the signal-to-noise ratio made it a waste of time. The infamous "Be nice, be respectful" rule is invoked without explanation. As noted by hundreds of reviews already submitted, the moderators have a heavy-handed and obvious liberal bias. Questions about whether the NRA should pay hospital bills for shooting victims are allowed, but questions about the causes of so many shootings in the inner cities are blocked as being racist. Questions such as "What's the stupidest thing you have ever seen an American do?" or "What are some proofs that Trump is a Nazi?" or "Since most country western fans are Republicans,...?" sail right on through the moderation process. When a question was asked about the best corrosive gas to use if you wanted to release it in a crowd, the Moderators didn't have any problem with that. I responded to a question "What's the best way to disable an American Forward Operating Base?" with a sharply worded reply about what kind of people deserve an answer about how to attack American forces, the original question was approved by the Moderators, but my answer discouraging other responses because of the help they give to terrorists was deemed by the Moderators to have violated the "Be nice, be respectful" rule. I have supplied several hundred answers, mostly in non-controversial aspects of engineering or technology. These take quite a while to prepare, but I often find that within a hour or two topics which receive seriously thought-out answers are dumped in favor of another "Is it true that physics is mostly math?" or "What is 2+2?" or "If a WWII German panzer battalion were equipped with modern tanks, how would they do against current armies?" types of questions. The political bias and disrespect for serious responders evident in Quora is rapidly turning this once-useful site into a modern day recreation of the phenomena which made CB radio useless.

Awful website
July 13, 2023

Quora's support team takes ages to respond, doesn't give a $#*! about you, does nothing about the unfunny trolls, allows stupid answers, etc.

Meh
May 21, 2019

Site originally has great idea but as anything else ran by and for money, the trend goes it will turn to profit eventually and then you can say bye bye to good user experience. Mods are more concerned on cramming ads to pages than to filter content which is the reason for the total flop scam known as partner program. It's a scheme virtually pushed to generate page counts and views which means more spaces for ads. Don't be surprised you're not getting paid for answers, they know knowledge is priceless and by you giving it all for free you just got played. The knowledge is secondary, they just want to cram ads. If you're wondering why Quora bans only specific kind of people you got to see it from business perspective. You'll find your answer to that. Also, a lot of users seem to think popular answers are the truest truth among other truths. Say otherwise outloud and see what happens next for yourself. One only have to look at the median IQ distribution graph to see which kind of people are the most in numbers. It should go without saying popular answers should be just about average, by pure logic. There isn't too many Elon Musk (only one so far), so no need to feel like one just because you hit 5m answer views or 5k upvote on an answer.

Quora is nothing more than an echo chamber for liberal world views. Any dissenting "opinion" is quickly shut down. I deleted my account!

The site is nothing more than a vapid echo chamber to spew liberal/left leaning ideologies. Conservatives opinions are few and far between, buried for the most part by the obviously biased moderation team.

If you veer outside of politics you'll find plenty of questions with lengthy "answers" that are factually incorrect. Quora mods are too busy censoring political dissent to actually police false information. Like the guy who runs around answering diet questions by telling people they can "Photosynthesis just like plants and live off nothing but air and sunlight" Frankly, I'm all for the people who believe this to try. Less valuable resources sucked up by the mentally infirm.

At the end of the day, Quora is useless in regards to the only legitimate reason it has to exist. Which is to ask questions and get helpful answers. Unfortunately the most well written answer is likely the one you're going to see the most of, even if the information inside of that answer is incorrect in it's entirety. It's filled to the brim with people who think their political affiliation is an expert credential, or people who think their gender gives them insight into the profound. Credentials are not verified by any means, at any time. I personally held a "B. S. In How Quora Sucks" for multiple years as well as the residence of "Up Quora's bottom, along with their heads".

The fact that educational, employment and residential credentials are in no way validate means even if you list yourself as having a Masters in a particular subject, smart people will dismiss this offhand as being false. You can't prove you hold that qualification, and as such for the purpose of any argument that degree is irrelevant. Unsubstantiated claims of expertise mean nothing.

If you have a question, I suggest using Reddit. Honestly you'd have better luck in the Youtube comment section than on Quora. The site doesn't deserve to exist, and it's laser focus on politics and it's completely arbitrary BNBR rules make it utterly useless.

I got partner by harassing the moderators. That should tell you how cohesively the site is moderated.

Every pretentious quora user is like senpais on internet pls notice me, I have IQ of ******* gimme upvote and compliments pls to validate my empty existence. Smh I've never been so furious reading things on internet until quora, which usually takes me a lot to get near half the level of that fury and that's saying somethin. Okay we understand every poor souls out there need validation online nowadays but dang, ppl need to chill the fk out. I dont think assassinating someone's character online over minor disputes translates well into a person of good character but idk maybe that's just me. I've seen that happened more times than I can count. But I'll say this, internet is better off without social media and I think quora should be first on the list for complete purging. Even instagram can wait. Studies has shown people's mental health have been ruined because of social media and let me say this, quora is so much worse than instagram. Shocking right. The only reason no one knew is because the darn site is so irrelevant which is good and bad thing at the same time. Good thing because they're irrelevant so their bad influence can't reach the level to be dangerous but bad because many abuses happening on site never went outside, which makes it perfect space for abuse and why the site is so rife with bullies perverts scammers and other shady untrustworthy characters.

Pretentious people giving long-winded answers to silly questions.

Ex- "Why couldn't the Hulk beat Thanos?" and then someone writes a Novel about their opinion on the matter like they wrote the characters and created the MCU.
Why do I need this sent to me in email? I though it was more for deep conversation, but I rarely see any of that anymore.

If you have a real question, it tends to not get answered.
And a lot of questions I have seen that get more volume seem to be regurgitated questions that have been asked before.

Ex - "What was something that happened to you as a kid that made you never look at the world the same?"
Then a month later, "What was a traumatizing experience that happened to you at a young age that made you look at the world differently?"

After using it for a couple years, all I can say is the site is ultimately an echo-chamber filled with a lot of silly conversation when it's supposed to be intellectual. And it's becoming more and more difficult to find those gems of informative conversation.

In answer to "What is an empath? I gave the following answer listed as first answer below. Tell me why empaths claim it did not answer the question?

Below is my answer to "What is an empath and the Quora attack on the answer:

"What is an empath?:
Empaths are a large group of judgmental, conceited, psycho-centric personalitys who believe they have a monopoly on normality and morality as opposed to the minority groups of those who fall outside of their neurotic, hand wringing spectrum.
Because empaths make up a vast majority of the spectrum that is contained in the psychopath-sociopath-machiavellian to empath continuum they believe they have the right to make negative and dangerous decisions to control the behavior and attitudes of those who do not think or feel like them. And because narcissistic pro-empathic members of their group have been propagandizing for years against the non-empaths, they now take a pseudo-religious inquisitorial view which will lead in the near future to a holocaust of the non-empaths.
{At least that is the definition contained in my version of the newly arisen Ambrose Bierce' Devil's Dictionary}"

WTF
March 25, 2018

No clear explanation about the spamming policy, very biased judgment too. This has been an issue since 2014 (or perhaps years before) and here we are in 2018 without even slightly improvement, someone even said that it getting worse.
My the one and only "answer" too got judged as a spam when my answer doesn't even have any political thing nor promotion (it was not about politic/sjw afterall), just a simple answer with simple link of my source of thinking and now that my answer is gone, I don't have a chance to contact them and ask for clarification at all. The warning I got only explained basic things why it could be considered "spam" including "repetitive/mutiple" promotion to certain link whereas I only wrote an answer only "once."
There is no screening for "question", any question (including trolling & hate-speech) is fine, but regarding the "answer", comes "be nice, be respectful" rule. Question is even more vital than answer, u know. My answer that got warned and deleted was about stabbing people, this could be understandable since it was involved in "how to hurt someone", but what can I help if the question itself asking "When stabbing the chest, should the blade be turned horizontal or vertical?", so the question itself is about hurting people!
Not to mention that now I can't even upvote anyone, only downvote is the option I have.
