This website is a free Question and Answer site. Its strength is that people are encouraged to post their backgrounds so you can vet the quality of answers and disregard the ones from people who don't bother to do this. On the other hand, the site doesn't verify the background statements or the posted names of contributors so anyone who really wanted to give dangerous bad advice could just use a VPN to hide their IP, post a false name and say whatever they want. From the standpoint of a contributor I felt very unappreciated. Contributors don't get any money so there is no incentive to continue doing it. For this reason you see people mainly doing it socially, either because they are in retirement or disabled. The site really stinks when it comes to controversial religious and political topics. If you aren't politically correct and post a referenced article you will probably gain a following of stalker enemies who read every post and will constantly complain to moderators about you until you get banned from the site. For example, try discussing average IQ differences between races. Legitimate complaints would be ok but moderators are so asinine that they don't even follow their own rules. They will interpret posts discussing a topic as being harassment and attacks on a group just because it is controversial. So you are not allowed to express an opinion that ever is derogatory even when it is earned. It would be analogous to being banned for saying that that Nazi's were mass murderers because this would be hateful towards them. They go out of their way to protect US blacks who are the most vocal. They have also defending medical quackery by supporting unethical chiropractors.
No freedom of debate, your opinions have to match the narrow minded Quora community. It stinks of socialism and authoritarism. Disgusting!
THIS SITE WAS OCUPIED BY PERVERTS WHO WANT TO PUSH WRONG FOR RIGHT.
IT IS USED TO PROMOVE CERTAIN INCORECT POLITICAL VIEWS BELIEVING IF THE LIES ARE CONSTANTLY REPEATED THEY WILL BECOME TRUE. BYZANTINIAN LIES FOR EXAMPLE.
NOT TO MENTION ALL THE PERVERTED MINDS WHO FOUND THEIR HOME ON THE SITE.
MODERATORS ARE ALWAYS ON THEIR SIDE, IF YOU DARE TO DISAGREE WITH THEM, THEY WILL CALL YOU ALL THE PRIMITIVE NAMES THEY CAN THINK OF AND SIMPLY BAN YOU AT THE END IN THE COWARDLY ATTEMPT TO SHOW YOU WHO IS THE "BOSS".
I COULD NOT BELIEVE THAT THE PRIMITIVES AND THE PERVERTS OF THE WORLD WOULD GET UNITED PRECISELLY ON THIS SITE.
THE SITE SHOULD BE CLOSED ONCE AND FOREVER!
A few months ago, I posted an answer on Quora that some might find controversial. For several months, they didn't have a problem with it.
Yesterday, though, they deleted my answer for "violating" one of their policies. (I suspect that someone "reported" my answer because they just didn't like it.) Anyway, I appealed, and won. Today, however, they collapsed the very same answer for violating their "Be Nice, Be Respectful" policy (which is ridiculous--my answer is polite and respectful). Anyway, I appealed, and asked them how my answer violates their policy. They totally rejected my appeal with no explanation (obviously because they know they don't have a leg to stand on). Again, I think someone is merely "reporting" my posts because they don't like my opinion--so much for freedom of ideas on Quora.
Also today, they collapsed another one of my answers, and this time there were absolutely no details about why. So, I appealed and asked for clarification of what rule my comment supposedly broke. Well, they simply rejected my appeal without any explanation again.
Anyway, I'm done with Quora. It appears that the deceptive, dictatorial moderators just do whatever they want--they don't follow any logical or published rules. Apparently their BNBR policy actually stands for: "Bully Now, Bully Rigorously." ;) In fact, one person on there hit the nail on the head with this comment:
"In the end, Quora moderation's purpose is to mainly prevent views they don't approve of from becoming visible on the site even when it answers the question fully within their ambiguous BN; BR policy so that they can create an echo chamber where everyone nods and agrees with each other while simultaneously claiming the site is open to all views and opinions (something that they are clearly not, as I and most others have noticed)."
I would recommend staying away from Quora. Or at the very least, don't try to post anything of substance there.
I'm a liberal but I believe in free speech. Fact is, Quora wished two topics didn't exist - politics, and gender issues.
Ironically, I have run into problems as a liberal with moronic conservatives whining to the moderators about how I'm not respecting them, meaning all you have to do is whine like a crybaby to mommy Quora, and you stand a good chance of getting your opponent in a discussion warned and then banned.
As a liberal man, however, I also have issues with rabid feminism, and quora will ban you so fast as a man questioning any sort of female dominance, that there really is no point in staying there.
Even though I'm a committed liberal, mostly based on economic policy, Quora is the worst example of politically correct horse hockey gone wild, and I need to get away from there anyway. Don't ask any questions about general female behavior, because you'll get accused of 'being insincere' in your questioning, and yes, you can get banned for a week and then permanently just for that.
I hate what has happened to free speech in this country. I agree that people should be able to ask questions about black people being violent against whites, or the self-obsession of trans people, or women being selfish and money-grubbing, but apparently, none of those questions are allowed on Quora. I probably can't ask questions about whether Christians are maniacs, like all religious people either.
Free speech is free or not. Banning swearing or racist epithets, fine. But to not allow a REAL discussion of REAL issues when they claim to be the 'answer' website makes them worthless. They literally banned me for a week for being 'insincere' and not even quoting the questions I asked that got me banned. If that is tyranny, I don't know what is. It's like being tossed in a cell with no charges. Their advertisers should be boycotted. Clearly both sides of issues are annoyed with them, which is too bad, because they are good for answers that have nothing to do with actual opinion.
Unfortunately, the little fascista moderators make their website a source of extreme annoyance, and a place to not return.
I initially joined Quora because I was told it was a more professional site where members could engage in actual discourse and critique. However, that is as far from the truth as one can get. The censorship goes beyond what is reasonable. Any disgruntled member or troll can flag your answer for simply not liking it. You can forget using critical thinking skills on this site because any perceived slight will result in the writer being censured for not adhering to the "be nice" policy. But, troll questions are allowed to permeate the site. And, you may run the risk of having a member stalk your social media and contact your employer to complain, as I had happen to me. All because they disagreed with me. Thankfully, my employer knew this individual was a liar and an idiot.
I have had to appeal in the past, but this latest experience has sent me over the edge. With over 500 upvotes and counting, they decide to collapse my answer because I did not adhere to the over generalized "be nice and respectful policy." Really? I did not use foul language, but I did speak my mind on a racist question that was posted by none other than "anonymous." How does anyone justify being nice and respectful to a racist question? I have had many responses with high upvotes and views. I try to be as cordial as possible, but this is ridiculous. They asked me to edit my text, which I will not do. But, I have no clue as what they even find offensive! As far as I'm concerned this is nothing but a glorified version of Facebook. There is nothing professional about this site and the trolls are allowed to run amok and post the most horrible questions.
Quora? More like cesspit! First of all, the moderation is utter garbage. For political discussions, the mods often remove all the answers and comments that are deemed as politically incorrect according to their agenda. The music community there is incredibly toxic, especially Kpop discussions, where various fanbases spread toxicity. Twitter stans are already extremely irritating, but they are only rookies in making you feel annoyed compared to K-Quora. The site is also riddled with pedophiles and stalkers who prey on teenage girls. Fakery, fabrication, and flaunting are also frequent.
The most annoying part about Quora is that the website always sends messages to my inboxes, despite having banned the website numerous times on Gmail. If I log out of the website, there is a big banner indicating I should log in to it again, which is undeniably annoying. I initially signed up Quora for helping with my chemistry assignment, but what came next is waves and waves of toxicity and junk, and it makes me very stressed. Very very stressed. I know Quora always pops out when searching for something on Google, and please don't use it. I beg you, you will thank me.
Plagued by extreme left-wing human garbage who worship communism and want to suck Chinese government's balls. They praise Chinese dictatorship, defend the disgusting censorship in China, overlook every horrible thing Chinese communism has done, $#*! on every country that is not their master race China whenever they get chance. They "prove" their statements with nothing more than ridiculous misinformation, fake news and data, lies over lies, and receive thousands of upvotes from brain dead and brainwashed idiots. For example, once saw a question asking "Who would win if America and China start war" (Don't get started on what kind of low iq and stupid this question is), and the guy with most upvoted "answer" as 5k $#*!s support him says "DeFIniTElY ChINa", with him pulling more false information and literally lies from his as to support his master, China. Also, if you say anything bad about communism, prepare to be disgusted by butt hurt left wing psychopaths or actually brainwashed Chinese brats.
Quora's community is a great place outside of politics to ask questions and get answers.
However, if you're looking for a variety in political opinion, you should avoid it. There's not much to say past the fact that there's a heavy liberal bias. Anti-GOP, anti-Trump comments get upvotes. Anti-Clinton, anti-Democratic comments get downvoted. Top comments in political questions are always pro-left, anti-right comments. Ask questions that incriminate or scold the left side of the aisle, and get a downplayed, or hostile answer -- not a straight answer. All Trump supporters are bigots, racists, and sexists. The educated supported Clinton. Bernie supporters are spoiled brats. Etc. Etc. Not a friendly place to be if you're a moderate or Conservative. When you ask them why Quora has a liberal bias, expect to get a loaded response that downplays the bias which ironically, exposes the bias.
Rarely will you find those who are actually "Liberal" and not radical leftists. When you do, it's a breath of fresh air, but extremely rare. I wouldn't recommend to those who identify as actually being Liberal either.
Don't get me wrong the site actually has a lot to offer to you if you are here ONLY to read and do so very selectively, since there are many people from all over the place so you can learn about a lot of things if you know what to look for. But then since a lot of the answers were answered by regular people (not experts/professionals) it might be good to keep in mind that what you read might not be always objective nor accurate. However, if you're here to write your own answers, and plan to do so routinely all I can say is that you are up to a lot of rage and disappointment. First of all there are a lot of snobs on the site who think they know everything there is to know and just don't know when to shut up. Then the worst thing is that since the site works like social media the consensus made by the crowd might come off so ridiculous you'll wonder what's the average IQ of the users there when totally dumb answers get more votes than the more informative ones. Also, the amount of circlejerking between users could shock you. If you are serious there and want to get readers you really have to make friends with the peeps and maybe lick some of the popular users' asses to get attention or audience otherwise forget about it. The site seem to value social interaction so much more than quality of the content (since more users means more content and traffic). You'd be better off making your own blog to write if you want to avoid unnecessary rage from seeing your well-written answer got less valued than some jackass with sub-par fiction writing skills that somehow managed to charm readers with some phony autobiography you'd had to have half a brain to believe it. The moderators also did jack $#*! to moderate the site which tells me that they have other priorities.
It's only a echo chamber. Bigott and dumb people are writeinge they opinion whitout reasons and if you question then, you will get insultet. When you reports insults, you get banned.
Quora blocked me for defending the hate against my country. Fake news at its finest. Maybe they should partner up with Fox.
I'm probably beating a deadhorse by now but I just feel I need to say something. Quora isn't what most people think it is. The site have lost many of its good writers, and what's left in there are teenagers, shills, sellouts for internet fame and adults who seriously have nothing better to do. I will make a bet Quora users are akin to other internet forums like Reddit, which are mostly strangers with free time. But because of the premise the site promised to the users about knowledge and other bull$#*! like that, it makes people think their opinions matter more than they really are. Ie people misconstrue their opinion as knowledge, merely because they posted it on Quora instead of Twitter. And then these opinions can get a lot of views, upvotes, sometimes for no good reason at all, socially validating what might be a totally wrong information.
If you are a newcomer, beware of getting addicted and spending hours on end surfing the site, getting subconsciously brainwashed by the people there. If you've watched The Social Dilemma, you'll understand me. Quora is definitely no different than other social media (ps I'm actually surprised they didn't include this site on the documentary). The amount of misinformation is unbelievable, and it can be difficult to know whether you're reading a correct or wrong answer. This is because the site's stupid rules of BNBR, you can't debunk someone else's answer when they're blatantly wrong because it's "not nice". Such a way to run a site dedicated for knowledge, I think I'm going to barf.
Nowadays it seems they are blocking people on basis of other people opinions. I said Indian are racist and got blocked
I won't recommend it to anyone looking for advice, just ask anyone in real life for your problems. It's the worst!
Quora is home for some of the most sick, immature, arrogant, narcissistic and creepy people I've ever seen online. What's worse, people take everything way too personally and seriously over any perceived slights. It gets to the point where I can be sure some of these people are only compensating for something lacking in their life for being so censorious. You can imagine the usual demography of introverted, shy and awkward and nerdy people who have trouble standing up for themselves irl acting like they're these chads and the moral arbiters of truth and reality on the internet because they never have to deal with the consequences you normally get for being disrespectful, conceited sonuva b*tches if they're going act like that in any real life scenario. Having watched Black Mirror before, my observation only led me to see some users resembling character Daly from USS Calister if you catch my drift. Tip to Quora users you probably want to stop taking yourself way too seriously, it's just a god dang website. Tip to visitors, the website has plenty of good information but the amount of misinformation can as bad as it can get and wrong information can get a lot of upvotes just because it's posted by popular users. Just be careful and think for yourself, check other sources and don't trust anything being said just like that because it has a lot of upvotes.
Forget about your 1st amendment and freedom of expression, the site is basically based on dictatorship. They might lead you to think at first that it's land of the free where you can exchange ideas on the outset, but sooner or later the darker shade of the site will hit you especially when your name started to get recognized by the community. If you say something wrong or step on the wrong foot, expect to get your answers ghosted, collapsed, or your profile banned, often times for no reason at all. Moderators don't do their job properly. Role of mods is for maintaining balance on the site, but mods in Quora obviously pander to power users, I assume because they bring in traffic and raise statistics so staffs at Quora have easier time to present to shareholders. They don't care about their userbase at all. This leads me to power users. They're this type of people that obviously can't make it on other social media site so they put all of their eggs on this site, which is why many appeared to be so overly threatened and upset when some new users started getting momentum and competitively popular as them. They can say what they want to deny this, but it's obvious to see how the way they rake followers is by nurturing useful idiots and tools to build their massive empire while outright abusing truth tellers and dissenters. They don't like being called out, maybe because fragile ego. The good writers on the site on the other hand, are this sort of oblivious, world war nuclear scientists type. They're smart, have a lot to offer but little do they know, like the nuclear scientists, Quora only want to milk them dry of their expertise and knowledge and shove them right to the cleaners when someone deem them too much of a threat to the pathetic power users. But then, maybe even lower than the scientists, since usually they aren't also thirsty of attention or popularity.
This site could have been a very good forem. Unfortunately it has been totaly hijacked by the militant atheists.
They censor everything i say. They are evil. Some questions post. But if i try to correct someone, comment vanishes.
Answer: Yes, the questions about penis size and virginity seems to sponsor endless discussion!
Answer: Because Google put Quora answers at the top of their search results when people search for a question they see the answer from Quora. Which is stupid because most answers on Quora aren't even correct lol. Idk why Google wants to promote that site, if they own it or they want to buy it and incorporate it into Google at some point. I think the site is awful and it should be shut down because it's just a propaganda site. You do not see Quora from any other search engine for example duckduckgo. But you see it in Google.
Answer: No, it is obviously leftist but it does on occasion allow questions or replies for short periods of time that are obviously uncomfortable to the "politicaly correct" crowd in a useless attempt to appear unbiased.
Answer: I honestly feel and highly suspect from certain traits that Quora pays Google to be high on the rank and they get *buddy buddy* with the government. Quora is essentially too big to fail. We no longer have capitalism but now live under governmentism which Trump pledges to end but can he? Does he really mean what he says? That is the million $ question.
Quora has a rating of 1.5 stars from 612 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Quora most frequently mention social media, hate speech and left wing. Quora ranks 79th among Question And Answer sites.
