Priceline Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of the company reveals significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to issues with booking accuracy, hidden fees, and inadequate customer service. Many reviews highlight frustrations with non-refundable reservations and uncommunicated changes, leading to feelings of being misled. While some customers appreciated the initial pricing, the subsequent hidden costs and lack of support during disputes overshadowed these positives. A recurring sentiment is a lack of accountability from the company, prompting numerous customers to vow never to use the service again. This feedback indicates a critical need for improved transparency and customer support practices.

Misleading Airline Ticket
February 22, 2018

I purchased an airline ticket from Priceline and it clearly stated in the confirmation and the email that I had booked an 'Economy' ticket. I specifically checked the airline's baggage policy before booking and was told that Economy is allowed 1 free checked bag.
When I got to the airport, I was told that my ticket was really an 'Economy Light' ticket and I was not allowed any baggage. I was forced to pay over $150 for my baggage.
I was very upset and contacted Priceline multiple times to try to get reimbursed. I kept getting told - we are not responsible for the airline's baggage policy. I informed them that I'm well aware of that, but they did not tell me what kind of ticket they purchased me.
The airlines refused to help as well, because from their point of view, I had a ticket that didn't allow baggage. And they're right.
I fully blame Priceline and will not be using them again.

I was ripped off
February 21, 2018

I paid USD 360 for a room at the Mercure Paddington London where the rack rate is GBP 89! The room shown when making the booking bears no resemblance to the actual room. When I challenged Priceline their response is you are saving against a pool of rack rates - what A CON.

I booked an "express deal," paid for the "trip insurance," and three days out I came down with the FLU. During an EPIDEMIC. These people REFUSED to return my money and would not take my medical documentation. Horrible experience. Don't book ANYTHING with these people.

Beware of Express Deals
February 17, 2018

I purchased an Express Deal hotel room. It was a 5 stars hotel in Paris, and the Priceline description said there was an Airport Shuttle. I decided that with the shuttle it would worth it. The hotel name was revealed after my payment, and I called them to book my shuttle. The hotel informed me that the shuttle would cost additional 130 euro. I called Priceline immediately, but the Customer Service refused to change my reservation after I found that their ad was misleading and wrong, or provide me with any kind of a credit.
Priceline sells you hotel rooms with discount, because you don't know the hotel name, but the problem that they lie to you. Their description says your hotel will be similar to one of the big and proven quality chains, but what you may get is a small "boutique" hotel with a tiny room like a walk-in closet with 12 inch TV. They call it 4 or 5 stars because of a new shower fixture, better soap and shampoo, nice picture on the wall, but there is no amenities like gym or sauna. By the way, those tiny hotels may belong to big chains like Holiday Inn or Best Western, but there is no free breakfast or anything like that.

When I went to pick up my rental car at the airport I was told they had over booked and they didn't have a car for me. So at 10pm I was looking for a car to rent. They were very rube and didn't care that I was stranded at the airport. DO NOT BOOK A CAR WITH THEM YOU WILL BE SORRY. I ENDEND UP PAYING 80.00 DALLORS MORE THAN I HAD PLANNED. THANKS PRICELINE MESSING WITH MY PLANS.

I've used Priceline over the years for hotel stays and never had a problem. In fact, in all the times I've done the blind bidding with them, i've been very happy with the results.
I've stayed in 4 star hotels for as low as $70/night without problems and when going to the hotel websites after winning my bids, i'd see the same night would be going for $200+. That's a hell of a savings!
I can't speak for airline or car rentals because I always book those direct with the companies, but for hotel stays, Priceline is great.

I have used priceline hundreds of times, no issue UNTIL this trip. Took my wife to Scottsdale for the Phoenix Open golf tourney, Booked AND paid in FULL in Nov.
Had conf#, upon trying to ck in was notified the 5 star hotel did NOT have a room for me. Spent the next 2 hrs of my vacation trying to get help. Priceline customer service disconnected me twice and forced me to use there 3rd party booking number to handle?
I booked and paid thru priceline, why would I need to call anyone but them.
I have always said priceline bookings are top notch, but this customer service experience has left me less than satisfied. I already emailed them on wed and have still not heard a reply? I guess a single user is not important anymore

Priceline has terribly uncelar policies as this is how they make their profit. I booked a car rental and intentionally didn't use any of their "name my own price" features as I understand that is like an auction. Instead I just booked a regular car rental and after I gave them my credit card I discovered:

* I had bought insurance not from the rental car company but form some other 3rd party
Company! The whole point is to avoid any hassles, charges, and paperwork when picking up and dropping off the card. This doesn't help me at all.

* I had pre-paid and it was 100% non-refundable. I contacted priceline within 3 minutes of seeing the confirmation page with the wacky insurance details and was told that no matter what, nothing was cancelable or refundable as the card was charged immediately. (Despite the fact that there is only an authorization and not an actual charge on my card.)

So I am left with no option but to dispute the charge with my credit card company - meaning I probably wasted my entire $800! Priceline sticks and takes advantage of older people!

Horrible Company
January 26, 2018

I have booked 5 flights in the past few months with priceline.com so you think they would be willing to work with me a little. I had a death in the family and had to adjust my flight and rental car by a day. I purchased insurance on the flight and had all the documentation needed (death certificate) and when the time came they said there was nothing they could do for me because I booked one of their special deal flights. I also booked the rental car and when I went to pick it up Hertz said I only paid the "base" fee which was $159 and tried to charge me another $675. I was completely appalled and said I wouldn't pay that. Priceline transferred me to 4 different people and refused to give me my money back even though I didn't use the flight or the rental. The website never should have offered insurance on the trip if it didn't do anything. I've paid for insurance on all flights and there is no point. They also were deceiving about the rental car prices. They refused to give me my money back for the rental that I didn't use and wouldn't even offer me a credit for that amount or voucher or anything. Do not use this company for anything!

I booked the Beach paradise hotel in miami through Price line and when I arrived I noticed that the pictures are not the same as crappy hotel.
I called priceline and spoke to two different people and they kept saying that they won't refund it becuase the Hotel doesn't refund them. This has happend with Hotels.com and they fixed the issue in 5 min and refunded my money. Priceline is a shady company that ripps off people and has no customer service to deal with the issue.
The hotel is unresponsive as well and they won't cancel the reservation.
I have been waiting in its crappy lobby for an hour and the hotel manager is not around and the assistant manager can't make an executive decision to cancel the reservation that I haven't even checked in.
BEWARE OF PRICE LINE AND DO NOT GIVE YOUR BUSINESS TO THEM> THEY WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR CUSTOMERS.
For management team of price line, the reference number to my complain is ******* and you better do something about this, otherwise I will continue writting reviews until you pay back this amount in lost business.
The hotel is dirty and disgusting. You can read the reviews for yourself.

Scam Company
January 8, 2018

I booked a hotel through Priceline that was refundable within 24 hrs of date. I cancelled 16 days ahead and still have not received my refund. I was not suppose to be charged until I arrived at the hotel but instead I was charged immediately. I called Priceline weeks later to check on my refund. Priceline connects you to Booking.com. The gentleman I spoke to was very condescending and said I needed to send three documents including my bank statement to prove I had been charged. The hotel didn't have any record of my payment because the charge to my account had been by Priceline but the gentleman kept referring to the hotel. Was an extremely frustrating experience and I will never book through Priceline again. At this point I have turned the matter over to my credit union to handle. Still waiting for this issue to be resolved.

Scam - Never Use it!
January 3, 2018

I tried to resolve my issue by phone/email but no one was able to do it. I have a flight in a few hours! It has to be resolved ASAP! I purchased tickets from Priceline and in the booking confirmation, it states "economy class", so the first bag for drop off is free. Especially, the same thing is mentioned on Austrian Airlines website. Also, the Austrian Airline's website states: "Your free baggage allowance is reflected in your ticket or in your booking confirmation". When I started to register for my flight on the second step it's suddenly mentioned that I have "economy light" to which I never agreed on and would never purchase either! Because of this unclear purchase/policy from Priceline website I have to pay the extra fee for the drop off for each passenger round trip! I also paid a regular price for this fair! Economy Light and Economy Class are absolutely two different things! It must be mentioned during the purchase and confirmation! I see this as a subject of fraud! I purchased one thing and at the end, it's something else! It's like you bought Mercedes and received Hyundai. This is definitely fraudulent misrepresentation by law!

Have always booked with Expedia in the past. Tried Priceline. Never again. First, they cancelled half of a round-trip I booked months in advance, no compensation, to a completely different day on which I could not travel, so had to pay more to re-book with another airline. Customer service at Priceline just said "too bad" that it cost me hundreds more to re-book months later. Then trying to select a seat, and trying to check in for the Priceline flights was a pain, no confirmation numbers, no seat selection, no check in online, crappy service! Could not do any of it online. Have to wait to check in at the airport. Never had this with Expedia. Don't book with Priceline. Terrible.

I booked a ticket from JFK to BD for 723$ in saudia airlines through priceline. I bought it approximately 75 days prior to my flight for 19th of December 2017. On 18th December at 2 pm someone from customer care called me and asked me whether I have a visa for saudi arabia and informed me for the first time that I need a visa for a layover more than 12 hours. As it was not mentioned anywhere at the time of purchase I didnt have a visa. Even I didnt have the time to apply for a visa as it was only 26 hours prior to me flight. When I mentioned that it was not my fault, they kept saying that they are sorry but they cannot do anything. They did not bother to offer me any alternatives as well. They simply insisted me to cancel my ticket and asked to manage it on my own. On top of that they curtailed a cancellation fee of 150 $ from the refunded amount. I had to to buy another 1323$ flight as my wedding was scheduled on 25th. Worst experience so far in booking an international flight.

priceline.com gave us misleading itinerary information. The emails says our flight is American Airline in terminal B of SJC, but there is no American Airline in terminal B at all. And we had to walk between terminal A and B and finally missed our flight. When we called the customer service about this issue, they refuse to refund the extra charge due to re-scheduling. I actually want to gave priceline.com 0 start!

NEVER NEVER EVER BOOK THREW PRICELINE. There website is completely misleading. They show a price and then in small print, on the last page (at the bottom), they say "prices in $US". This is extremely misleading and it cost me 31.7% more than is should have.

I booked two nights in a motel in Northern Alberta Canada so why would i think for a minute that i would be charged in $US? I was charged $212.76 US which converted to $280.28 (Canadian dollars) This is ridiculous and extremely misleading. Pretty good work if you can get to make an additional 31.7% on all of the unsuspecting Canadians you SWINDLE.

I spend about an hour chatting to two different people at priceline about this and got absolutely nowhere!

I TRIED TO GET OUT OF THE SECOND NIGHT AS WORK ALLOWED THAT I COULD LEAVE EARLY FOR CHRISTMAS AND THEY ADVISED THEIR CANCELLATION POLICY DIDN'T ALLOW IT! THUS I PAID $280.28 FOR A ROOM THAT SHOULD HAVE ONLY COST ME $103 cdn PLUS ~ $8 TAXES.

PRICELINE IS THE BIGGEST RIP OFF I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH.

NEVER EVER EVER BOOK WITH PRICLINE!

I scheduled 2 flights through PriceLine - found a better price for $239 less per ticket. Apparently the price guarantee is only good for 24 hours. They didnt offer any assistance or remedy to resolve my issue. Feeling crappy! I will never use Priceline again and I recommend you dont use them either!
