Priceline Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of the company reveals significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to issues with booking accuracy, hidden fees, and inadequate customer service. Many reviews highlight frustrations with non-refundable reservations and uncommunicated changes, leading to feelings of being misled. While some customers appreciated the initial pricing, the subsequent hidden costs and lack of support during disputes overshadowed these positives. A recurring sentiment is a lack of accountability from the company, prompting numerous customers to vow never to use the service again. This feedback indicates a critical need for improved transparency and customer support practices.

Out of the goodness of my heart, please believe me, total stranger, that this garbage company will steal your money. There are other good-hearted booking companies that will provide genuine service to their customers. Use those! You deserve a trouble-free trip. Not this terrible service.

Overcharged
May 30, 2020

When you book a room thru Priceline you expect to get a lower price than what the hotel is charging but instead we paid $21 more thru Priceline. I will never use their service again!

Priceline is the ONLY booking site I've had issues with. They don't have anything updated for COVID-19. Booked a hotel I couldn't stay at so they approved giving me my money back. They said on Wednesday May 27th it would be on hold on their end for up to 24hrs. I'm pissed off that they LIED they won't even be releasing the money til June 1st. So I won't even get it til the 2nd. I would have rather been told the truth. Worst site ever!

Booked a hotel, when I booked it it said I could cancel by the 27th and now they're saying I can't cancel, if I do cancel that I would lose the 3 nights that I booked.

Purchased a car rental through priceline for a Thrifty car, when COVID first started I cancelled with Thrifty but they could not refund me because the reservation was done through priceline. Priceline was not taking calls until 72 hours prior to your reservation date... at that time I requested a full refund because of COVID they told me as long as Thrifty cancels the reservation it would be no problem even though Thrifty told me 3 weeks before that the reservation was cancelled. Now Priceline will not refund me because my original reservation was non refundable. COVID - should have been reason enough to override this, the airlines and hotels all refunded even though they were also non refundable. PRICELINE WILL SCREW you don't use them!.

Due to Covid-19 I had to cancel travel plans. Part of that was a car reservation through Priceline. I've been trying to cancel it and get a refund for six weeks. While I thought this had been resolved 4 weeks ago, my reservation still exists and I've gotten no refund. My attempts to talk to ANYONE at priceline have failed. There is no phone number that results in any option to talk to anyone. I just spin around in a loop or get hung up on. I'm out $400 for a car I'll never use and, apparently, it's priceline that has the money, not the car rental company. DO NOT USE PRICELINE. They've ripped me and countless others off in a very trying time. I'm sure they are about to go under so I'll never see my refund nor get to talk to anyone about it.

Terrible
May 17, 2020

My flight was canceled due to covid 19. That true off my entire trip by 2 days. I paid rental car in full. Priceline rep told me no problem, just cancel reservation and I will email you a coupon to cover your rental. Went to rebook and coupon only covered a fraction did not cover taxes, fees, and insurance that I already paid for. After literally 3 hours on the phone and escalated through 4 reps with broken English and kids yelling in the background I was told I'm sorry but that all they could do for me!

There ad reads; choose from 3 hotels for $72 and After you pay via credit card they Select a hotel 25 miles away from where you are staying. Nice. After calling "customer service" which they need to look up because they lack the understanding of that service. And speaking to 3 levels of supervisors "we're sorry that line they got down but you screwed and that's our policy. Satisfy their customers? What's that? So if you ever need the definition of their policy just call customer service and oh yeah while waiting they hung up on me. Yes I'll be a return customer. NOT! Look at BBB 2 stars out of 6 gee what a surprise but hey they got my money so who cares. If this is their service during a pandemic You can just imagine their service Or lack of. Normally.

MISLEADING
May 13, 2020

YOU ARE MISLEADING BY COMPARING 2 WAY BETTER HOTELS ON EACH END that have access to beach and the one we got doesn't even have access we have to walk across the main street, not close to the beach. They should be equal. My husband is handicap and they wouldn't accommodate us because of their policy which you claim is a great deal BUT it's not. The other 2 maybe yes but not this one. I am disappointment with Priceline, EXPEDIA is way more helpful than PRICELINE when it comes to helping the customer. I don't think it would have been that hard to do... but I guess it all depends if they are willing to help. It's too bad. They why they have a bad rating... I should have looked here before.

Priceline.com
May 8, 2020

We used Priceline to book a 4-night stay in a nearby hotel so my wife could visit her daughter after a 20-year separation away from the kids and rest of the family. We booked a non-smoking room in a Super8 Wyndam hotel. When they arrived the room stank badly of cigars and mold. There was no ice bucket and the TV was broken/offline. When they complained at the front desk they were told to take it or leave it. There would be no TV or room change. They returned their keys and checked out and spent the week here in our home. Priceline, in spite of the trip insurance I purchased, did nothing. The hotel refused to refund our money and Priceline said they cannot step in. We were just screwed over and to have a nice day. Do not use Priceline. They didn't save us money, and in the end we had to pay for a stinky, smoking room that we could not use. I will never trust Priceline again. Neither should you.

TOTAL FRAUD
May 7, 2020

Booked a pre paid rental based on their best price guarantee. I found a lower rate within 24 hours and they refused to refund the difference. They have repeatedly lied all the way up to their corporate goons. They even went so far as to lie to the state attorney general's office in their home state of Connecticut. DONT FALL FOR THE GUARANTEE it's a fraud. They continued to insist that I needed to address their Priceline's best price guarantee with the car rental company. They mis transferred calls, hung up, constantly lied, and that's when you can actually get in touch with them. HANDS DOWN THE WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE, THEY ARE TOTALLY WORTHLESS.

Scam
May 3, 2020

Scam! Beware! Company advertised hotel room for $40 once we proceeded to checkout price jumped to $60 we decided to proceed since that was still a decent rate. Upon booking I went to confirm my reservation to find out they booked to a hotel not even in the same city or town they had advertised, being shocked I went to check my bank and noticed a charge now for $87.50! Wait what? I could not believe that we fell for a bait and switch! Get on the horn to this Priceline company first agent claims they cannot cancel my reservation since the hotel already took my payment. He tells me he has tried to contact the hotel but no one is picking up I made final request to have the reservation cancelled he informed me I would have to call a number and speak with a rep, the number he gives me is an automated machine it says I have no reservation based on my reservation number so we try our phone number still does not recognize. Same recording over and over with no option for customer service, get back on chat with this guy he tells me there is nothing he can or will do since the hotel is not answering final request made to cancel he refuses to do so. I ended that chat session get on the horn with hotel, second ring a lady picks up I explain what has transpired and she tells me she's been at the desk all night noone has called, she contacts her manager but needs Priceline to contact them so I start another chat session a new guy comes on has no idea about my file so I explain it all again to him he now refuses to contact the hotel and informs me the hotel will charge me the full fee to cancel so I get back on the phone with the hotel they inform me no we never received any calls but our manager is willing to cancel your reservation no fee on our end. Go back to chat same guy says to me the hotel took your money there is no way for us to refund since we already paid them then disconnects chat I receive an email from Priceline saying to call this same automated service keep in mind we have already called 5 times in between all the other contact. We have never dealt with this company nor will we EVER AGAIN anyone should avoid at all cost they simply scam you, not only is it Bait and Switch they legit steal your money, lie their way through unfounded grounds, and simply do not provide a service.

I made hotel booking thru Priceline about February12th I had to extend my stay and used Priceline. After entering my card data I pressed enter only for three hotels to pop up l clicked on my choice pressed enter to be informed I had been booked in a hotel in Washington DC. I immediately phoned Priceline and was informed the price at the particular app was low because the app allocates hotels on a lucky dip basis. I complained to my bank which took up the case with Priceline which did not budge. I strongly believe the app has been programmed to allocate hotels different from the choice of their customers and this is just a way to scam people of their hard earned money. The matter will be taken up with Consumers Protection Council and will post update soon

Rental car
May 1, 2020

I rented a car through Priceline, and my wife and I went to pick up the car. Thrifty said they would need a debit card so they can hold 200 dollars. My debit card wasn't working, so I asked Thrifty if I can use my wife's debit card, they said because they're part of the airport, the Federal regulations mandates a debit card to have the same name as the one that purchased the car. I tried calling Priceline to see if we can add my wife's name. I called over 10 times, and I was unable to get through. We were trying to get to Colorado for my uncle's funeral, so we had no choice but to rent a car from another company. Later, we tried to explain to Priceline that we never picked up the rental car, and how we tried to get a hold of them repeatedly for assistance. Priceline said there was nothing they can do, and the purchase was nonrefundable. 500 dollars may not be a lot of money to some, but for us it was huge. I will NEVER go through Priceline again.

I tried to postpone my car rental due to the covid shut down and was told "no changes cancellation or refunds".
My trip was booked back in January for May 16th and New York is shut down until the 15th. The Canadian border closure was just extended which means my trip is put on hold. I tried to just get a credit, not a refund and was shot down twice stating some fine print in the agreement I signed when I paid. I find it very shady that a credit at a minimum is not allowed during this Crisis/ lockdown when almost every business is offering at least a credit for future use. I couldn't even access the additional insurance page to add protection to try and cover the purchase.
This is not the first time Priceline has giving me this "READ THE FINE PRINT" B. S cop out. But it will be the last.
