Plenty of Fish

I have been on POF for two years and 90 to 95% of men that will either contact you or reply to your message are looking for nothing! Many of them easily give their phone number, then they will only text you or talk to you once and never call you back. Often, they will plan a date with you, and then they will disappear. They won't even reply messages, and you will never meet them. Ladies, be aware! A LOT OF bul##it on this dating online website. Do not lose your time... after a little talk, ask them to meet with you. If they don't do it asap, move on, otherwise you are going for a lot of disappointments! I tried to figure out why it is this way, but unfortunately I do not have a crystal ball to answer this question and know who is the right fish. You need a lot of perseverance to meet a good guy (among the 5% left) and you are not sure that they will be some kind of chemistry between the two of you. I have been often frustrated to spend so much time and energy in searching for the right person, to just ending up to talk to a lot of losers, than I recommend that you try another online dating website.or don't be picky and may be you will get lucky!

I am writing this review from the female perspective:

While this site may offer plenty of good-looking guys I must say, pof seems to attract a particular type of personality when it comes to the male form. During my plenty of fish experience, I came across an overwhelming amount of guys who appeared good-looking, well-mannered, and normal. However, these were always the guys who would make a million excuses not to meet up after a few days of texting back and forth and exchanging pics throughout the day, over a period of several days. Once they ran out of excuses not to meet up, they would eventually end up ghosting me. I got tired of this happening over and over and over again and I lost hope and deleted my pof profile.

The guys that did want to meet up with me, usually wanted me to meet them at their house or their car to hook-up.

I have come to this conclusion: pof is largely a place for two types of men:
1. The ones who are just looking for an easy lay
And
2. The ones who are only on pof for attention and they have no plans to meet up with anyone. They fabricate an exaggerated online persona so that they can carry out a virtual fling with you, which includes collecting your pics and flirting with you

This site is too controlling of what pics I can post of MYSELF, but allows Fakes and scammers to post. I was shocked when the search button would NOT allow me to search at a SLIGHTLY younger age group, thereby limiting a broader group of women to search.

I've had POF for 4 years, if the length of time doesn't tell you something's wrong with the site then I don't know what will. After my last round of dealing with a player, so to speak, I just went online and my account has been deleted. Now, my account was adhering to all the guidelines that POF set forth. I was not a fake, phony, scammer, bot, anybody looking for a handout or money and my account got blocked. Maybe it was the last person when I talked to who didn't like the fact that I said no thank you as opposed to ghosting them. And yet there are people, or scammers bots, on there that do exactly the opposite of what I have done. I NEVER once asked anybody for money, to pay my bills, to feed my kids, nothing. YET, there are still "people" on there doing these acts and I had got kicked off. So if anyone decides to read this from the POF team, just know that your site sucks and you have a bunch of POS's on there. Maybe plenty of fish should consider doing a little bit better of a job screening people so that the average person doesn't get screwed over. And to all you fakers that use POF to manipulate and deceive the average person, karma does come back and will get you one of these days. I guess in a way part of me is relieved I don't have to rely on some lame website to try and find a real person.

As a man's perspective I was on this site few times, this site is free and the quality of women in it are very cheap, meanings, I am a very good looking guy if I go anywhere I could possibly get a date or hook up with whom I like, since I don't go out much and because I am busy I have decided to get on a site like this. The women in it are looking for the guys that have money, nice house, nice car and you got to look like a model, even though they are fat asses ugly more of a lower class with kids! The first question they ask you what do you do for living before they get to know your name, they're looking for a guy to support them even though their ugly and fat! Lots of them they hide their body and show their faces only, they love to surprise you with their ugliness when it comes to the date meeting, other than they are hookers asking to get paid in a way of buying them things and possibly paying their rent. On the other hand, they don't want you to post shirtless picture but its ok for them to show boobs and $#*! lips on their profile pictures and posting just looking for friends nothing more! End of line this site is $#*!ed up. If your Horney save your headache go to a bar pick a whore, or rather use your hand

I was a Member of this site- paid for 1 month, about $50, & they were not overly helpful, Strangely a site that they have dealings with called E VOW came on the screen & I found a good lady friend on this site & she rang me & Ive been in phone contact for a couple of months with her & she even came to my House & visited me & we are in phone contact wednesday & sundays on the phone because shes a nice lady & wants time to sort out things as she lives in a city about 2 hours from me. Even though that E Vow asked for money, I still was able to access her for a week or so without Cost, Now we Speak Via the Phone without bothering abut the site.

For anyone thinking of joining don't. Here is a bit from a profile I saw. She was average looking and was a single mum YET has the nerve to make these demands... Freaking ridiculous that a single mum can make such outrageous demands from men

I would say my 'type' is dark hair (Not shaved), tall- at least 5'11", muscles but not silly muscles just a nod towards the fact that a gym or exercise features somewhere, good dress sense (Not trendy necessarily), smells nice, looks after themselves.

Obviously, none of the above matters if the chemisty is there. Though, it's more likely to be there with someone as described above haha:)

I'm really not into men with zero upper body strength.

I don't read all my messages, nothing to be offended by, if I don't think our profiles match then no point in wasting anyone's time.

Please don't contact me if you smoke, do drugs, don't have a car or job.

I helped my mom sign up--she's almost 80, but she's lonely so why not?--just a skeleton kind of profile to get her started, her picture, and I told her she could write her own profile, whatever she wanted, at her leisure. Less than an hour later her profile was ENTIRELY DELETED! No explanation, gone! I thought it was some error so we created a new one, had to pick ANOTHER user name, used the same photo from her bday party, her and my brother but very clearly HER!, and AGAIN it got deleted! She emailed them, got a generic reply that they "can't answer every email" and nothing since. She's alone and lonely and I'll NEVER convince her to do this--she's humiliated! POF SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEIR BLATANT, UNAPOLOGETIC AGISM AND DISCRIMINATION AGAINST THE ELDERLY!

I would not recommend POF to anyone for online dating. The interface is very slow. I don't understand what kind of software engineers they have hired. Lot of bugs. I am myself a software guy and can tell this site sucks big time. I can make such site or app in 2-3 days myself.
Try skout, datehookup. They are much better.
One issue me and my friend faced is that when we try to approach a girl, if she is not interested and would just block you. If u get any 2-3 suck blocks against you your account is deleted. I mean what the f. They got completely stupid policies. Too much female oriented. I think they should rather make it a homosexual (actually lesbian)dating site, only for women so that nobody would mind from anyone. And atleast guys ego and respect can be saved. I faced this problem two times when I got my account deleted. I never misbehaved, abused anyone. Still they deleted the account then I think the creators themselves have never ever dated. There algorithm is itself incorrect which finds your matches exactly opposite to what you are looking for. I mean c'mon guys are you some school students trying some hands on project and playing with people. I wish I could give it a 0 star. People, there are much better sites out there, please don't stuck yourself into this foolish site.

Signed up saw a load of fake profiles & profiles with obese unattractive or very plain females
A profile I read said "CALL ME BABE + UR BLOCKED" as the headline
This was from an obese women who had a real attitude problem. She should have been grateful to be called babe looking at the state of her.

Looked around some more & just saw desperately picky unattractive women saying how they weren't prepared to settle for 2nd best. Frankly they should be grateful men are even sending them messages in the 1st place. ALL of them seemed to have a chip on their shoulders

This site is nothing more then craigslist in disguise. I signed up got my profile done, people load the mailbox of course. Then if you don't answer them asap they report you as a fake account or simply as 3rd grade revenge? 2 times I had my account shut down, im mixed Asian, I had a dozen first messages ask for sexual things, of course I did not reply I had a well filled out bio and recent pics meaning not ones from 1992 like most of the make users. I am a video gamer nerd so that's what I was looking for, it seems like there is nothing but ex jocks most married that cant deal with rejection, while there are some good guys on there far to many scumbags with woman issues, mental issues like abusers, control freaks, married and plan old cheater completely detour any chance of finding the decent people on there. I tried 2 times to the same effect I got reported and suspended? I messaged pof and absolutely played the race card? I in no way violated their rules even keeping a snap shot of my photos and bio, profile? I work so much I don't get time to date I work 3-3 at a bakery so I rarely have time to socialize, needless to say no response from POF. I told POF no where does it state you have to reply to sexual messages, which violate your rules you claim yet when I reported them they are still on? A complete disaster for decent men and woman--- the trolls own POF, there are definitely good men and woman very few on there that are being sidelined by these abusive users

This was an actual profile. She had nothing about herself in the profile, obviously had no photo up and had the cheek to say if you ask for a photo she'll ignore you. //But wait there's more. She also said she goes for men who are loyal intelligent and humourous. She's not wanting much is she?

No idea why 187 cm either. I doubt she will get many replies

My point is this isn't an isolated incident. From looking there are numerous profiles with women making utterly ridiculous demands. Can you imagine rejecting someone in the outside world. No sorry you're only 185 cm not 187. It shows how insane they are online. Why should a man message a woman that tells them nothing about herself, doesn't have a photo + will only send photos when you've had long meaningful conversations with her. If a man did that trick they'd think he was ugly or hiding something

I'm gonna say this it might not be popular but it's the truth. All the women I saw made stupid demands but had no personality and were not very attractive all asking for prince charming. There is a reason they are single and on plenty of fish. The way they act online is staggering. I expect them to be on here for years because no man in his right mind will agree to their demands. Really bad standard of females as you'd probably expect...

Most of the profiles either are blank as they're too lazy/dumb to fill in out or they have a huge list of requirements and a long list of complaints about life

I didn't see any happy women on here. All of them have some sort of baggage and were more than willing to tell you all about it in their headline or bio. Why would any man be interested in misery?

The only laugh I got was reading from some woman who said (in capital letters) only message her if you have blue or green eyes. At this point I nearly fell off the chair laughing at such utter stupidity

I recently had a pof account and someone whom I know of messaged me in a rude manner of which I did not appreciate and bashed him for it. Then proceeded to email pof because not only is the man married but a pedophillic FELON. Is that really a man you want around yours kids ladies? Oh but do worry he took a plea bargain so his record isn't "that bad". Just saying watch what you do on the internet. But how does POF take the info? They delete me instead cuz I'm rude. HELL YEA I'M GOING TO BE RUDE TO KEEP AWAY SICK PERVERTS. Since I can't give a 0,1 is the lowest I can go do.

Full of females who are probably 3|10 at the very best, yet somehow act like they are 10|10 models. That's the problem and why this online will never work. If they accepted they are 3s not 10s maybe they would get a date.

They talk about 'refusing to settle' and how they 'know their worth' and other nonsense they've read in a magazine. They also like to say how if they don't reply it's because you're not their type. I found it quite sad to see such hostile attitudes and picky women who really had no right to demand anything. They want too much and offer too little... Sorry not for me

Most of these have a longest relationship of a year which is quite revealing in itself

They all seem to have tons of offspring, smoke, have more tattoos than sailors and are out of shape (or plus size as they say) yet expect the guy to be absolutely perfect! It's like an episode of the Twilight Zone

I guarantee this is an online thing. If the women tried to pull all this entitlement stuff in a bar they'd get laughed out the place.

Remember online isn't the real world

I've been on the site for a couple of years on and off, and it truly is a nightmare of a site to the point I'm closing my account. Firstly the site owner feels you shouldn't send messages to people more then 9 years younger or older then yourself. Rather then giving users the ability to adjust age ranges of who can message them instead.

Secondly, if you're a genuine guy out there, like myself who is actually looking for a meaningful relationship, yes ladies we do actually exist if you look enough.

Forget POF, you will waste your time messaging and getting little in responses back on this site. Even if you share interests or talk about hobbies, interests and places they've travelled. Ratio wise, out of 10 messages sent, you might be lucky if you get 1-2 replies back. Can be very demoralizing.

Thus making the point of writing a meaningful message pointless, as an experiment recently. I created a female profile, with permission from a friend to use some of her photo's. Within 2 minutes of setting up the profile, it gained 11 mails from guys. In 20 minutes nearly 50 messages and 99+ Meet Me's.

I think it's got to the stage now, where women are getting so inundated with messages from guys. That most simply will not respond and those who do make an effort are being lost in the ton's of messages from sex addicts who aren't really looking for dating and a relationship.
