RIP OFF!

Well Pep Boys here you go! First- you charge $145 an hour in labor, ridiculous! I'm in Staten island and other mechanics charge $95 an hour. You're going to lose a lot of business because people here are looking elsewhere. You've lost a lot of clients already on Bloomingdale Rd. Next to Dunkin donuts. You should really do something about your rates because Pepboys isn't all it's cracked up to be! I had to give a rating of one. To bad there wasn't a zero option... That would have been my choice as many others.

Bait and switch
January 28, 2022

Free ac check was the come on. Tech confirmed by looking under the hood that clutch was not engaging. Back to front counter where they gave an estimate to replace all components for approx $1400. Went to another ac place and they found electrical problem for $100 after a simple diagnostic test. Pep boys stated that their policy is to replace everything. So following this train of thought if one tire is determined to be bad then replace them all. Something's up with Yuma store. Last visit the store was large and full of parts and accessories. Now it's empty save for service.

Pep Boys Sterling Height MI My car needed rear shocks so i went to there website and they quoted 99.00 for 2 shocks and 34.00 to install. So I made an appointment. Once I got there the price changed to 99.00 for one shock but I printed a copy of there quote from there website. They agreed to give me the 2 shocks for 99.00 but charged me 100.00 for labor. I will never return to Pep Boys Do a google review search I am not alone. Bad Company

You can't go wrong getting your repairs done here. We are from out of town, when the alternator went out and they got us a better price, and more timely repair than anyone else closeby! May did a great job providing professional service at a good price. They care about their customers, and will do what they can to help you. This was our first experience with Pep Boys, and we will go there from now on!

Waste of time

Don't bother making appointments with these guys. I show up ten minutes early for an alignment and am told I'd have to wait two and a half hours before they could even start on the service. When I contacted customer service to complain about the issue I'm told that setting online appointments shouldn't be done - that if I wanted to get a real appointment I need to call the store and do it directly.

Complete waste of time. Now I've got to go take another half day off and get it done somewhere that knows what the meaning of scheduled service means..

Black Friday Scam

I ordered 4 tires on Black Friday. Their by 2 get 2 free deal. Few hours later I called to verify my appointment. I was told they do not have the tires in stock and I would have to wait until they came in. That was 8 weeks ago. Still have no tires. All they can do for me is sell me more expensive tires and give me 100 dollars off. It would be 400 dollars more than the tires I ordered. Horrible experience. I will never go to pepboys again. It was nothing more than a scam so they can upcharge you to another product. I ended up going to Firestone.

Poor Customer Service
July 23, 2022

Significant Deficiencies: Arrived 15 minutes ahead for a scheduled appointment, no one in line, yet it took 10 minutes to check in. Communication extremely poor to non-existent for entire process. Text notification disconnected from actual process. The waiting room blasts non-stop mind numbing sales infomercials. The place wasn't busy. There was one other customer in the waiting area when I arrived, one when I left. Reasons for poor service not apparent. Poor morale? Lack of skills or training? This was my last trip to a Pep Boys — ever.

Above and beyond

David always takes such good care of us! So much so that when my daughter had a flat tire, he stayed late so that he could make sure she was safe! We won't go anywhere else! He is the reason we will always be loyal to Pepboys. Thank you David for all that you do! We are grateful for you!

They guess what the problem may be without giving your car a proper diagnosis they quote you an obscene amount of money and then tell you that they just want to let you know that their service may not fix your problem and it won't be their fault?

Horrible service...
October 1, 2014

Horrible service... went poor in new hubs and bearings. They have me back the car pulling bad steering wheel not straight, after they so called did the alignment... any way the manage was pissed cause i took it back. Long story short three days later and they couldn't do the alignment still posted for the service with no compensating for not being able to do alignment and also broke two rear door window guard.

Honest appreciation

The guys at 44th & Wads. Are unusual. They had the opportunity to take advantage of my car woes, and instead, empathized with my situation and honestly claimed they could not find anything wrong with the car. They thoroughly checked all systems, reported no problems, and when I asked them what I owed them, the Manger said, "No charge". I've trusted Pepboys for years, and will continue to do so. Thanks guys, stay safe.

Scam
September 22, 2020

On Saturday September 12, I went to Pepboys on Bustleton Ave in NE Philadelphia for oil change and they called me and said more work need to be done, and gave me an estimate. I ended up paying $1102. 52 for the tie rod end, tires etc... they were supposed to stop the noise that we heard for quite sometime. Two days after the car was making the same noise. This time the guys said that I have to pay another $1000 or more to replace the axles and so forth. They refused to fix my Forester because I disagreed with them on paying again. I will never do business with them again.

Great experts, great promotions and sales and great felling whatsoever.
It has only one flow in my opinion - the site design is atrocious

My car holds 5.7 quarts of oil. I got the bill and was charged for 7 quarts. This was after waiting over an hour longer than they promised for a simple oil change. The time wasn't all that big a matter, but theft is a big problem. Also have no idea what a "1 Step Fuel Sys Cleaner" is but was charged for and never asked for it. Never again to any Pep Boys, but especially not the one in Yulee, FL.

DO NOT RELY ON PEP BOYS
Damaged one alloy wheel on bad pave surface. Pep Boys had the correct wheel.
5 months 3 wheels still wrong fitment, then after numerous emails like this

In order to ensure we send the correct bolt pattern for your vehicle, may you please provide us with the year, make, model, and engine size for your vehicle? We hope to hear from you soon as we would like to assist you with this in a timely manner.

I get a notification of a refund soon after the above email. Can't get correct wheel pattern due to trim of car? The bolt pattern is the same on all trim levels of my car?
No reply after that.
Problem is Pep Boys are the only stockists of the brand of wheel I need. No concern of Pep Boys.

My advice - look elsewhere for your parts, they don't care and will leave you high and dry.

I took my vehicle to the East Norriton location for a simple oil change and they not only damaged parts on my vehicle but other parts are missing as well (photos of proof). I have reached out to the location, as well as the corporate location and no one has answered me in over a month. The location I took my vehicle to was supposed to watch the video, but conveniently the video system was down. If you want your car to be messed up and get no response or replacements of the damaged parts, then feel free to trust PepBoy's for that! Also, oil was leaking because they did not close it properly!

I'm a resent pepboy customer and would have to say my past visit was outstanding the employees were very friendly and went above and beyond with helping me at the time. They found out what was wrong and fixed my problem that day. They always had a smile on their face. I would like to say thank you to store 69 in Raleigh!

Purchased 4 tires, two on the drivers side don't match the two on the passengers side. Returned the same day and they said they would fix it... nearly two weeks later and nothing happens. Should have canceled the payment immediately. Tried to scam me on an oil change too! Most disreputable shop I have ever experienced in nearly 50 years of driving. Sad, very sad. Do not shop at Pep Boys!

Dissappointed

Bad service never coming to any of your store again, i came in to buy some new tires never bought any tires before i am new to this well the guy just gave so many choices and advice on what i should get so well hes a professional so i just listened to him, and got what he recommended me to get, left with the new tires put on. After just 2 weeks of driving the front wheel and back wheel came off on the high way i got a big major ticket for that almost cost an accident, came back here and said that i should consider on buying new screws when the police said the screws must have been loose. When actually it should've been tight

My car broke down 1 mile from Pep Boys and I had my car towed to them. I needed 3 things. A battery, alternator and belt. I was quoted $1020. 00 with parts, labor and service fees. Oh and I paid $18.00 to have them do an analysis. What are service fees aka "pocket fees" I asked? The answer was unclear and are not listed under the labor cost. I told them not to do the work. I had my car towed the next morning to a garage where I was quoted $562.00 parts and labor included. I will never go back to Pep Boys. They should be investigated.
