Rattling Engine after Oil Change
April 17, 2024

Rattling Engine after Oil Change
(with an admission that too much oil was placed in the vehicle)
I recently took my vehicle in for a scheduled oil change, tire rotation, and an alignment if needed. I say if needed because I informed Mr. M the gentleman servicing me, that the car was pulling to the left. After dropping my vehicle off I proceeded with the day. I received a call a few hours later stating that the vehicle was ready to be picked up. When I went to pick up the vehicle I was told by Mr. M that I did need an alignment, he went on to say that he tried to call me but was unable to make contact so he went ahead and did the alignment. He was thanked, the service was paid and I left.
However, 30 minutes after leaving I was back because my check engine light was on, the vehicle was running ruff and still pulling to the left. My thought process was no way my vehicle is worse than before I took it in. To be fair I had a friend drive the vehicle before returning it and they stated that the vehicle pulled to the left and the right with them. Everything but ride a straight and narrow. Pep Boys then received a call Mr. M answered and my concerns were explained to him. He rebutted by saying "Yeah, well an alignment was done." I then asked did you test-drive it before doing the alignment. I was told No, I asked well how did you know that it needed an alignment then he stated because the machine said so. He proceeded to say I only test drive a vehicle before repairs if a customer states that they hear a noise or feel something. My reply was when I brought it in I asked for an oil change, rotation, and if it needs an alignment because it is pulling to the left for you all to do it. He told to me bring it back because it was driving ruff for him when he test-drove it after the alignment, he said I think it's the transmission because I had a hard time getting it to accelerate, and when I did it gave that winding noise. He was told that the transmission and engine had both been replaced and he stated yeah, I would just take it back to them. He stated the reason he didn't document this was because he ain't thank no more about it after explaining it over the phone.
The vehicle was dropped back off at Pep Boys within a 30 minute window from picking it up. Mr. M stated that the alignment was done properly and that he would check it again after I asked that it be rechecked. When I went to pick the vehicle up the second time Mr. M stated that the vehicle needed a laser alignment because it was showing that it was straight on the machine although it was still pulling when he test drove it. He even went on to state that he re-rotated the tires his words (the tires where placed back in the same position they where in before having the rotation) meaning the tires have not been properly rotated. I was then told that it was nothing more that they could do, he recommended several body shops to take the vehicle to stating that they are the only people that he knows that performs laser alignments. However that they will not do anything outside of the laser alignment other than tell me what I will need to have repaired because there has to be vehicle damage causing it not to line up properly. When asked about the check engine light being on I was told that is a diagnostic and that I would be charged a fee, although the check engine light was not on before bringing my vehicle to them. My response was seriously I can take my car to Auto Zone or
Anywhere and they will read the code for free. Be aware that he never attempted to read the code. What he did offer was to bring the vehicle back into the bay to give me a requested printout that was never offered or provided to me. What he was not expecting was that I was walking around the bay area. What I witnessed was them redoing the alignment yet again and him showing me the numbers on the screen which I took a picture of because he said that the printer was offline that's probably why I never received a copy because the technician was like the work has been done let me move on to the next vehicle. He then told me that my vehicle would be ready shortly. Having to leave town for work the following day left me unable to address my vehicle concerns the way that I wanted to.
However, upon my return and driving my vehicle I noticed that my vehicle although driving straighter had this ticking rattling noise coming from the engine. I immediately took my vehicle back to Pep Boys where I stood at the desk for 6 minutes before Mr. M acknowledged me. I explained to him again that the vehicle was still running ruff and about the noise coming from the engine. Mr. M immediately went to deflecting passionately saying, "Yeah, I know it was running hard when I test- drove it, like it didn't want to accelerate I told the guy on the phone that it was the transmission and he said that it had been replaced both the engine and transmission so I would just take it back to them. After listening to him go on and on for a few; I interrupted and asked will you check my car to make sure you at least put enough oil in it? He replied yes drive it around to the side. In my mind, I am like this has to be a joke he's not going to at least test drive it to see what I am talking about or into the bay. I took the vehicle to the first bay, and when the technician pulled the dipstick out, I instantly knew that something was wrong via his facial expression. He waved for Mr. M to come over they began to whisper. Mr. M walked away came back and tested the oil himself when he took the dipstick out I could tell that something was wrong by his facial expression and hasty movement and they began to whisper even more. Mr. M then walked to the driver's window and said he's going to take care of you. The technician asked me to get out of the vehicle because he needed to drive it into the bay and on the lift because my vehicle had too much oil in it and he needed to drain it out. While my vehicle was on the lift, I witnessed them drain almost two quarts of oil or more out of my vehicle. Mr. M then repeatedly said the name of the person who was responsible for overfilling my vehicle. The technician said to me it wasn't me, I would have remembered the headlights I like them. I thanked him and was given the keys to the vehicle. In conclusion before leaving I asked Mr. M if I was good he stated yes it just had to much oil in it. I then said so the noise I'm hearing is the transmission he replied yes I would just take it back to whoever replaced it. I am sure that's what it is. Not once did he or a technician test drive or do a diagnostic on the vehicle nor did they provide any documentation to show that the vehicle had even been brought back either time. Luckily for me I do have my ducks in a row. Please Advise I am seeking to hear from Corporate with a resolution with this matter and my previous issue several months ago where I spent over $1300 in repairs to still have the same issue.
May I also add that Mr. M has poor customer service skills (my opinion) he comes across as apathetic like he is annoyed and could care less what the customer is talking about. At one point when he thought I was not listening he said to another customer quote "ION care nun about it, people get mad all the time, I could care less" end quote.

The worst customer service, if you can even call it that.
April 21, 2023

Regarding the Pep Boys shop located at 810 E Dominguez St, Carson, CA *******

The worst customer service, if you can even call it that.

Wednesday, 4/19/23, I had 2 damaged tires - one completely flat, the other going flat. By the time AAA changed the completely flat tire with the spare, it was after 6pm. I normally go to America's Tire, but they close at 6pm. The Pep Boys around the corner from America's Tire was still open so I went there. The employees there that night told me the tires couldn't be repaired and I needed 2 new tires. Me not being a tire expert, believed them and was charged $450.22 for 2 new tires.

The next day, Thursday, one of my co-workers suggested I go to America's Tire and see if it was possible to get reimbursed since the 2 damaged tires were bought there and I paid for the warranty. The manager of America's Tire around the corner from Pep Boys said if I brought the damaged tires in, he would issue a reimbursement. I went over to Pep Boys and got my tires and went back to America's Tire.

The manager of America's Tire looked the tires over and was stunned that Pep Boys charged me for 2 new tires when the damaged tires were repairable. That's when I knew I had been scammed. He also told me Pep Boys charged me about $150 more than that same brand would cost at America's Tire. Not only that, the rear tire Pep Boys put on was inside out, there was 50lbs of air pressure in both tires when there's only supposed to be 36 and both of those tires were already 3 years old. The America's Tire manager told me to go back to Pep Boys and tell them to give me a refund, they would switch out the tires and I would give Pep Boys back the tires they sold me.

The guy working the counter at Pep Boys refused to give me a refund and insisted the tires couldn't be repaired. I wanted to make a phone call with all of us and the America's Tire manager to get us all on the same page. One of the Pep Boys employees said he'd follow me over to America's Tire and talk to the manager himself. Both the America's Tire manager and the Pep Boys employee, went over every millimeter of those tires and came to a mutual opinion that those tires were indeed repairable and the Pep Boys employees should have repaired them and not charge me for new tires.

The Pep Boys employee told me to go back to Pep Boys tomorrow (today 4/21/23) when the manager was in and tell him to give me a refund. I said to that Pep Boys employee, in front of the America's Tire manager "why do I get the feeling you're going to change your story by the time I get there tomorrow?" The Pep Boys employee said something along the lines of "as my skin is black and can't be changed, neither can my word" (yeah right). The America's Tire manager told me if Pep Boys wouldn't make it right, then to come back and he would.

During my break today I was reading a whole LOT of tweets on Twitter and reviews on Yelp about people's bad experiences with Pep Boys. I wish I'd read those sooner.

I went to Pep Boys today after work to get a refund as that employee told me to do and give them their tires back. I told the manager what happened, that his employees took advantage of my ignorance about tires and fraudulently charged me for 2 new tires I really didn't need instead of repairing the damaged tires. I told him what his employee said during our meeting with the America's Tire manager. That employee said "I never told her that". (Didn't I say it? I knew that he was going to change his story). The Pep Boys manager said he was going to call his district manager. He didn't do it in front of me so I doubt he did it at all because these guys can't seem to tell the truth about anything. He said he wouldn't give me a refund because they don't issue refunds for used tires. (I had those tires on my car for less than 24 hours). I told him that he and his employees are a bunch of sleazy liars and I was going to go public with this in as many forums as I can think of.

I went back over to America's Tire to let the manager know the Pep Boys manager refused to issue me a refund. He asked me if I still had the other tires. I said yes and he was welcome to them. The America's Tire manager issued me a reimbursement for what I spent at Pep Boys. That hardly seems fair to America's Tire, but I'm very grateful for them. The America's Tire manager is great and knows what it takes to keep people coming back since repeat customers are really what keeps businesses going.

This is why I've been going to Discount Tires/America's Tires since the 90s. I've never, ever had a problem with service and only went to Pep Boys because America's Tire was closed. I feel violated by Pep Boys for taking advantage of me like that. Most of us aren't tire experts and depend on company employees being honest with us when we need their help. You bet your $#*! I'll never spend another penny at Pep Boys for anything and I hope nobody else I know will either.

They should shut down this place
January 20, 2023

Hard to believe they're still in business. Went to the Annandale location for a dash light that came on. It actually indicated what was wrong and where. The mechanic asked me which sensor is the problem, I told him, but they still charged me a $20 diagnostics fee. I was also charged a $20 fee for a 90 warranty on the balancing of the wheel they took off. I asked them to cancel the warranty but was told you'll come later with an unbalanced tire and we need to fix it so we can't cancel it. Left the car there for 5 hours. When I went to pick up the car, I told the manager you're over charging me for the part, Advance auto part has the same part for $55 and you're charging me $150, thats a huge difference. He told me I should have done my research before dropping the car off not when picking it up. Not only they over charged me, but also when I turned the car on the light was still on. I was told by the mechanic and a front desk employee that it'll turn off after driving. Went back the next day, I was told by the manager that the wrong part was ordered. Went back in two days. The manager wasn't there. I was told they cant do anything as they are busy. After a lot of negotiations they said I should wait 2 hours so other customers get their turn. I got over charged, they took my money, didn't fix the car and when I gave them the opportunity twice to fix their mistake they gave me an attitude and brushed me off. For your own good stay away from this place. They are untrained employees. Both at the front desk and in the shop. Specially now that they don't work with pep boys store, they order the parts from other parties and it costs a lot more An uptade; I've made every attempt to have my car fixed. I have stopped by multiple times and every time they till me they ordered the part but next time I visit ghey dont have the part. I'm sick and tired of these guys lying to me. I've wasted so much time waiting for someone to give me an answer. The shop managers only concern was for me to remove my review but has done nothing to fix the problem. After leaving a review I received so many emails from Pep Boys main office. All they do is apologize but they do nothing to gain the customers trust and satisfaction. You stole $235 from me, you guys are crooks

Con Artists
July 17, 2022

This place is a scamming place. This is my third time here and the first time I was very happy. They gave me a very good price on an oil change and gave me a rundown on what I needed to get done on my car in the future ( I knew these things needed to be done, but it was nice to hear their prices). And we were done for this visit.
Then a few months later, I hit a pothole getting on the 118 on ramp from the 210 and I needed a tie rod, a steering sensor, a steering torque position sensor and angle sensor. They told me that the evaluation was free if they did the work but now I realized that they changed me for it. When I picked up my car, they explained that my steering wheel was really easy to turn to the left and difficult turning to the right and if it didn't work itself out to bring it back. Even though it sounded like it was an alignment problem, they assure me that they did a complimentary alignment already ( another thing that I paid for).
-Please note that each time I picked up my car they handed it over in the garage area.-
This time we dropped off my car for an oil change and the guy told me that I had a nail in my tire side wall and needed a new tire and he sent me pictures to show me ( the nail was on the bottom of the tire, not the sidewall) he tried to tell me that even though it looked like it was on the bottom, it punctured the side of the tube inside. Seriously! Then my husband's truck was in the night before to get it back early on Sunday. We couldn't get ahold of the shop for hours but when we did, a lady named Gabby said that the oil pan screw was stripped and we needed a whole new oil pan. But if we wanted they could put oil back in the truck so that he could use it until an oil pan came in. Then she told my husband that they could put oil in it but it would have metal shavings in the oil and she would not drive it if it were her.
When we came in she said that she would show us the problem but when I tried to follow her into the shop (where I have always picked up my car) she turned around and got in my face (I almost punched her) and tells me that I can't go into the garage area. Now she tells my husband that she can not put oil in the car because the screw didn't fit anymore... So now, either I buy a new oil pan from them or I have my car towed. Con artist, scammers, thrives. Do not go here!

Tip for consumers:

Don’t go here. It sounds good but they will really take your money in the end!

Rude, hung up on me, couldn't prove did work
May 12, 2021

I utilized Pep Boys for an oil change in response to email coupon of 30% off, free tire rotation and tire pressure, free wheel alignment check/inspection and free vehicle inspection. I was told that the reservation was for a different store but he could take me here. I asked if he would contact the store or should I and let me know that I was dropping car off at store #376 instead and was told, "don't worry about it." Turns out he never contacted the store and they are sending me communication about missed appointment and rescheduling.

He then told me I would be called when the car was ready but I didn't receive any document/receipt, etc., showing services that would be rendered, typical of car repair/maintenance shops. I reiterated the above and he gave me back the coupon with all the services in the coupon and said, "yes, yes, everything will be done."

When I received the call that the car was ready (by the same person who took my keys), I asked if everything was done and was told yes. I asked if anything was amiss or noted and he said, "I'll ask." This raised a red flag because why would he have to ask when he should be able to look at the check list document and see what fluids were refilled, what the wheel alignment measurements were (and whether they were within specs) and the list of checked off inspections done (battery, brakes, etc.) with any issues stated.

He came back on the phone and said everything was fine. I inquired as to why he had to ask instead of looking at the sheet? I asked about the vehicle alignment? He said that if anything was wrong, they would have told him. I reiterated that there should be a checklist proving what was checked, that there should be measurements for wheel alignment check as this is not eyeballed as okay. I said I wanted that checklist so I know what was checked.

He said, they check the brakes. I said, "is that all?" He replied, no, they check other things. I said I wanted the list of things checked. I said if I brought the car in without the oil change and paid for the vehicle inspection, what would I be paying for? And how did the wheel alignment get checked? He then rudely asked if I was having any problems with the car? I said that had nothing to do with the list of items checked or my current concerns. A vehicle inspection should be as thorough whether there are issues or not.

He said, "YOUR CAR IS READY, COME GET IT." And HUNG UP ON ME!

I contacted PepBoys corporate who informed me that there is a checklist and documentation should have been provided for everything. They contacted the store and wanted to speak to the store manager but he was unavailable. They sent a priority message that documentation be provided when I pick up the car and that the manager would get back to me shortly. He didn't.

I picked up the car. No documentation of vehicle inspection or wheel alignment check provided which is the reason I went to Pep Boys instead of Tires Plus a block away.

I am furious as my wife is going on a long trip and she wanted peace of mind which I now can't provide her.

I will never use Pep Boys again.

Do not buy tires from the Lafayette, La location
September 26, 2020

I purchased a set of Cooper Adventurer H/T tires from the Pep Boys located in Lafayette, La. Earlier this year(2020) while it was raining. They scratched my rims with their tire machine and did not say anything to me about the damage! While washing the vehicle a few days later I noticed perfect circular scratches on all 4 rims.
I called and of course, their was nothing that could done for me since I had already left the store. In other words I couldn't prove that they did it since I left.
Fat forwarded the end of August 2020, 3 days after Hurricane Laura... as I was traveling to Baton Rouge, La to the BR General Hospital where my brother had just passed away, I had a flat tire in the pouring rain and I had to change the tire. No worries, I made it to Baton Rouge, to the hospital with my family to take care of the transportation to bring my brother's body to our local funeral home. The Store in Baton Rouge was closed by the time that we had arranged everything. Not their fault.
I then traveled back to Lake Charles for the weekend and went to the Pep Boys store where I had initially purchased the tires.
I was informed that that did not have the tire in stock, they had an All Terrain in stock if I wanted that one. I informed the service rep that my tires were Highway Tread tires and that I only wanted to go back with the same tire and tread pattern. His response was for me to check back with him in a week or so that he had some ordered.
I warned over a week and called to see if he had received the tire that I needed and his response was no not yet, I then asked him if any of the stores may have the fire and if he could get it shipped to him? While I was talking with hi, I did a search of the Pepe Boys and found that the store in Bossier City, La was showing 4 Cooper H/T tires in their inventory. He told me that he could not get the tire from them. My question then was why not? And his response was that he couldn't get it from the that they do not work like that. My reply was, ok for some reason you're unable to get me the tire that I need and you for some reason can't have the tire shipped to you store to take care of me! He said correct, so my next question was, so in order for me to get the tore that I, which by the way has raid hazard protection on it, I'd have to dive 4 1/2 hours away to get the tire so that I will have a spare tire? His answer was yes!
I have now called the Pep Boys Customer relations "hotline" and been told that
1. They can't get the tire anymore.
2. Well have the store manager call you within 24 hours (which was not done but the individual told the that they did not say that I'd have to travel to Bossier City to get a tire
3. The district/regional manager would call me with 48 hours (which they did not do)
4. They would now connect me directly to the district/regional manager who did not pick up but I was able to leave a voice mail for a call back on a number that I did not recognize. ( still waiting for the return call 9/26/2020).
So what's my next step? Since no one will do anything for a customer or will even return a phone call as promised?
Still waiting in Lake Charles, La!

Bad battery issue
August 11, 2020

I decided to give pep boys a chance before I posted a review. They did respond and ask for a phone # to contact me with. I provided that and heard nothing back. I re emailed them and still nothing. This is the email I sent with the issue I had. I will take my 5 older cars I do maintenance on my myself and buy parts elsewhere. Do not shop at pep boys. I have not filled out a bad review yet. I feel you should be given a chance to rectify my issue. I bought a couple batteries from pep boys, one of them last June. The battery went dead so I took into the pep boys on south Lamar in Austin, Tx. I spoke with Zach and showed him my receipt. He was very nice and said they would need to put the battery on the tester and it would take an hour or less. Not a problem, I understand. About a half hour later he calls and says yes the battery tested bad. He said he did not have that battery but he did have one for $249.00 and he would credit me the $120.00 I paid for the battery towards it and start me over with a warranty. I declined that option because that is just way too much. He said he could get that battery but it would be Monday but the price has gone up to $179.00. Not totally happy as this is Wednesday. What is the warranty I asked. You would have none was the response. Your warranty is one and done. Really? Why would one start over but not the other or at least pro rate the time which is what I expected? Battery says 3 year free replacement on it. I have been the parts and service business for 40 years now. That is not the proper way a battery should be warrantied. Anyways I am still in a bind and without a battery. He must have sensed my frustration because he then tells me well the pep boys a half a mile down the road shows to have 3 but they are closed at 5. Fine, I come pick the battery up and he gives me the test results and says give them this and they will take care of you. I leave with my dead battery and a car at home that I need. The next day (today Thursday) I take the battery into the other pep boys as Zach instructed me too. A gentleman named Dave was behind the counter and must have been having a bad day because he certainly was not interested in helping me. I explained I had a bad battery and I showed him the battery and the test results. Where did you buy it from he asked. The pep boys down the street, I have the receipt. Well then you need to take it back to them was his response. I bought it at pep boys, I should be able to bring it to any location and also I was told to bring it here. He said well I would have to test it myself, I can't use the one you have and at this time of day It would be tomorrow before I had results. That make no sense it takes less than an hour to test the battery and it is a little after 3:00. That's fine I said I can tell you do not want to help me. I took the battery and left. I need my car. I look online and found a battery down the street for $109. I purchased the battery and went back to the other pep boys. I met Zach again and apparently Dave had called him. Dave was confused he said, take the battery back to him and he will take care of you. I am not going back there I said. He said well I do not have the battery you need. I do not want another battery at this point. I had to buy one elsewhere. Well I cannot give you your money back I can only exchange it. What? Okay now I have an issue. I am requesting to be reimbursed for my defective battery and given a core or refunded the $12.00 I had to pay for a core. I have attached my receipts. I am hoping you do the right. Thank you

I would bomb my car before going back
June 8, 2019

If I could give thumbs down Pep Boys would have got it.

They say " the pen is mightier than the sword" and I am a firm believer of this. So instead of throwing a tantrum at the age of 30 I decided to write a review. Let's paint a picture. I scheduled an appointment for 10 AM because the day before I got a Flat. I arrived at Pep Boys on time and actually was seen by a representative on time (thank god I'm thinking). I proceeded to the counter. A white male heavier with a beard said "how can I help" (emotionless). He had a white shirt on he might have been the Supervisor. I advised I had got a flat tire and need this to repaired or if not changed. His Reply was "ok" (emotionless). I indicated that i had purchased tires from here before there should be a warranty under this he replied " what's your name(emotionless). I advised my name he looked and said " yea I see you purchased Starfire Tires, but you declined the Warranty"(emotionless). I advised I was never provided an option to get a warranty. I also advised this individual also I spoke with a supervisor by the name of Kyle I believe. His email was *******@pepboys.com on 11/1/2018 we spoke and he rectified the situation at hand that time (this time I'm sorry to say that did not happen). I praised him and wrote a positive email after a negative one that was sent. I advised him I would never decline a warranty for tires. His response was " well it shows you declined it so you're on the hook for this one" (apathetic). I replied just price it out for me. He had all my information on my Mazda 3. Before providing me with the information we were interrupted by another guy asking a question, at that time I advised the guy I would go and get the tire from my trunk( I had a doughnut on my car at the time). When I brought the tire in, a white male with a black shirt (this must of been the big boss) was standing beside the supervisor. I provided the tire to the supervisor he checked out the tire and said" This is not our tire I can assure you this" (emotionless). I reply I only purchased Tires from Pep Boys since I have had this car. The Big Boss steps in and says "what's the problem or What's going on" his staff member replies in a bothersome tone " this guy "claims" he purchased these tires from here but we don't sale this tire here"( I was a second away from losing my cool and becoming the "angry black guy" because of his tone, lack of empathy, and terrible customer service skills, but like I previously stated I am a 30 year old man and I'll pass on throwing a tantrum). The Big Boss replies " then what's the issue see if we can fix it or not" (stern with the employee). At this time the employee says we will see if we can fix it. I just would like to thank the Big boss for actually defusing the situation and actually focus on the solution, but the time I sat and waited for my tire I thought to myself this is unacceptable. So when the individual with the white shirt (supervisor) called me back to the counter to advise I had to buy another tire and my tire was unrepairable I declined. Moral of the story I refuse to spend my hard earned money on terrible service. Second, this supervisor should receive further training on how to help customers if not work inside the shop where you have minimal to no contact with customers. I am not one of those psychotic people who think customers are always right (7/10 customers are wrong), but maybe just maybe if the supervisor would have came off with some type of emotion and approached the situation differently I would not have been writing this. I do not want anything, I do not care to be contacted. I would rather spend 2x more money on good service than be treated like I am not a paying customer.

Pep Boys -- The Worst
February 21, 2019

I had my car repaired at this Pep Boys. (4397 N Pine Island Road). I used this shop frequently before it became a Pep Boys because of the proximity to my house and I was always satisfied there. However, after one visit to this car shop that is no longer the case. Not only did my repair take several days because they misdiagnosed the problem, but I had to return my car only two weeks later because the AC had gone out again. I had my car in the shop for an entire day again today and they still don't have a solution to my problem. The people at the shop obviously did not run checks on my car to diagnose the problem. I was able to tell them it was an electrical issue with the fan not getting power to turn on, but at the end of the day they blamed my AC not working on a button on the dash (obviously not the reason the entire fan system stops working). While working on the car today they switched a couple of interior dash lights on my car. They said they did this to check the AC (at no point was I called or given an estimate or anything of the sort). Now I am told that one of the two lights that they switched no longer works. I would assume that when you go into a car to test something you are responsible not to break that part, but apparently that is not the case. The light now does not work, and the shop told me that it was my fault because it was not working before it came in. Now not only did they not fix the AC they also broke one of the dash lights. I explained that the light should be ordered and replaced, but apparently it is a specialty part that has to be ordered. Only after an hour on the phone was I able to confirm they had to order the part. First the part didn't exist, then I was told I should know in advance the light didn't work because I had extra parts for the light in my car, then I was told it was special order and the manager needed to order it. I simply wanted to get assurance that they would fix the part they broke (a simple light). I left today with my car without assurance that the part would be ordered or even what the part was. When I asked for the part number, or a detailed statement about what they performed on my car they had nothing there. They could not even tell me a part number for the light. Needless to say this is the last time I will use that store. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place, the headaches today mean that I will gladly drive a little further to get my car repaired in the future. I had to return to the store because 8 months later the AC still doesn't work correctly. My ac 8 months later still doesn't work so I'm stuck trying to get pep boys to honor my warranty. Needless to say they didn't fix it and won't fix it. I spoke with Jose Diaz the store manager. To say he's rude is an understatement. They won't fix the ac and instead of explaining the issue he yelled and hung up on me not once but three times. I had a friend call the store and as soon as he heard it was in reference to my issue he hung up on them (this was a woman in my world men should have some manners.) I filed an official complaint with corporate and am awaiting resolution. But needless to say avoid this place and avoid Jose Diaz. Maybe he's just having a rough day we all do but to hang up on a customer is in my estimation a bad idea.

Pep boys Alignment and rotation SCAM
February 11, 2019

Friday February 8th at 4 pm I dropped off my 2016 Jeep Cherokee for a simple wheel alignment and rotation. I wanted this because I had spent $800 a year ago on new tires for this car from pep boys and just wanted the suggested maintenance done to them. They said the car would be ready by Saturday but i was going out of town so I told them I'd be picking it up Sunday morning. Sunday February 10th I walked into the pep boys to get my car after nobody returned my call on the phone asking about my car. When I got there they said they forgot to do the service on my car and that it would be done in 30 minutes and its was 1:30 pm at the time. I was pretty mad at this point considering having to wait when i left it for 2 days ago so I decided to watch them do everything just to make sure nothing weird was going on. Soon after my car was driven onto a lift and then was left there to sit for 10 mins. My car was then taken off the lift after not being raised up or anything done to it at all. Knowing that its not uncommon to get scammed at car places I checked the tread on the tires prior to leaving the car. The service was awful and a little shady so I checked my tires to see if they had been rotated and they hadn't been. I told the guy as he was trying to ring me up and he then froze up and told me they had forgot. Knowing that he was lying I started to question if they had aligned the tires even so I told the guy I thought they were lying because they never lifted the car off the ground or even put the alignment panels on the wheels at all. They claimed they did it but told me they would redo everything and credit me for everything. Keep in mind they were straight up lying to my face because i watched them do everything in the waiting room which has a viewing window. This was an obvious scam being run. They are acting like they are doing rotations and alignments but aren't doing anything at all. I spend at total of 3 hours today at pep boys when I was only supposed to be there for 2 mins. This cost me time making money and who knows how many people have been scammed because I just got lucky and caught it. This is very unlawful and if needed I will get an attorney involved. Hopefully you decide to fire these employees for their lying to customers and scamming them. The ratings for this place online are already awful enough just go investigate yourself. Just try and bring your car to this place and you'll see what I mean.
