Pawp is a bad faith insurance. This company is definitely one to avoid. I enrolled in their Emergency Fund, meticulously followed all the guidelines to ensure reimbursement, but my claim was still denied without any explanation. Upon reviewing other customer experiences, it's clear they habitually look for any pretext to reject claims—whether claiming "it wasn't an emergency," alleging failure to contact Pawp, or accusing customers of not submitting documentation in time. Despite strictly adhering to their protocols for my dog's emergency and timely submitting all required documents, my claim was unjustly rejected. I plan to report this company to all relevant government agencies. They masquerade as a pet insurance provider, but it's entirely a scam. Be vigilant and don't be deceived as I was.
I paid $99 for a year subscription. I tried using it a few times and was not happy with the service at all. I called within days to cancel and they would not refund the subscription. They truly do not stand behind their product. Not an honest company. Please do not make the same mistake that as I did.
They somehow obtained my payment information and are now refusing to issue the $99 refund for this unwanted and unnecessary membership. I have 2 emails from them saying the they were not able to charge my account, and that in order to keep my membership active, they needed for me to update my payment information. Because I did not want to keep my membership active, I did not update my payment information, They still obtained new payment information and charged my account. Until I get my refund, I will post this on as many sites as I possibly can, to warn any and everybody to stay away from this company.
They aren't transparent with their cancel policies, they use "dark patterns" during their cancel process to attempt to get you to keep your membership, they use a "code of conduct" to blacklist previous-members phone numbers for filing a complaint with the bbb/ftc (the "code of conduct" referenced doesn't even APPLY to previous-members, only current-members). And their privacy policy email address does not work. Horrible company.
I'm giving 1 star only because there is no choice for 0 stars. This is a SCAM company. I received a free membership through T-Mobile. I guess the membership ran out because I see a charge on my credit card statement for $99. I never received notice they were about to charge me. I tried to call but you can't get through so I posted on their website to cancel and refund. They wrote back to inform me that they would cancel my membership effective next year. That they could not refund even though I cancelled on the same day they posted the charge. I have since contacted T-Mobile to alert them of the type of company they are affiliated with. I also cancelled the charge from my credit card company. I'll have to wait 90 days before it is finalized. What kind of company is so desperate that if a customer does not want their service, they won't refund immediately. Only a SCAM company. Plus, after reading the reviews, it doesn't appear their custemers are too thrilled. 7 reviews, 6 with 1 star. Now this makes 7 out of 8.
I noticed my cat had lost a little weight. Not much to worry about, but the other day, I noticed her pawing at her mouth & when I looked inside, I was horrified. There was a tumor growing inside her mouth. I felt about an inch tall, so I immediately took her to the vet, who said she needs emergency surgery. I don't have money like that. That's why I got Pawp. I don't pay 20.00 for someone to give me advice, I paid the 20.00 for situations like this. If a cat can't eat, I would think that falls under the guideline of emergency & then they have the audacity to tell me to fill out a claims form when the only reason I signed up was because they were the only company, who said they paid up front. They had the audacity to tell me they never stated they paid up front. That's when I showed them the proof that indeed they did say it. I would've never signed up for just advice but the 3000.00 emergency fund made it sound worth it. Don't fall for it. It's nothing more than a scam dressed in tuxedo.
P.S. Going thru all these 1 star reviews, I have seen one very legit thing that stands out like a big ugly pimple on prom night & that's all the excuses they make. That ought to be a warning flag for anyone considering giving them a chance! Just contact me & send me the money if you just want advice.
If I could give less than 1 star I would!
My dog Acksel had been ill and we had taken him to our regular vet a few days prior to contacting PAWP. We have had a paid membership with them for almost 2 years and never asked for help. On Saturday March 2 Acksel's breathing had deteriorated so we contacted PAWP. Their contact person advised us not once, not twice but three times to immediately take him for emergency treatment. Although we love him dearly we probably would not have taken him if they hadn't pushed us because we really didn't have the money. But based on us being told to go 3 times we were under the impression they were going to pay for the visit. Thank God Acksel seemed to improve some on the way to the vet so they denied the claim. We thought he was going to quit breathing! So basically PAWP is calling me a liar and not holding up their end of the membership! I am cancelling my membership because there is no way they are going to pay! Do not get this membership! They will find any way to not pay for your claim but sure will take your money!
Unfortunately I had a terrible experience with this company. I am a huge animal lover and I am also an insurance agent. Initially I wasn't aware you needed to video call their vet to get approval and the reason I wasn't aware is because they don't tell you, however it's in the fine print, which is A HUGE thing to not tell your clients right off the jump. When I came to them they gave false hope stating they can still possibly provide the coverage as long as the documents I send in show everything that happened for his emergency visit. Well I sent them in extreme detail my dog was hospitalized for 4 days with pancreatitis and after no one answered me for 2 & 1/2 weeks they finally emailed back after threatening the BBB, saying my claim wasn't accepted since I didn't video call with their vet. They also stated they had no way to contact me this since they were sent to spam. I find this puzzling since I've gotten several emails from them in the past. Not sure why on earth they tell clients to send in paperwork since they can approve it after the fact, knowing they have no intention of doing so. It's clear now how they make their $ and it's to avoid paying out claims… all while I'm trying to get ahold of someone via email regarding the status of my claim they made sure to charge me for my monthly fee which is at this point comical they also made sure to tell me they won't be refunding me that installment. Anything to squeeze out every cent from your clients is not an ethical company the fact that they made sure to tell me they'd see on my claim being approved and then ghosted me for 2 weeks, only to deny the claim the day after they made sure to take my monthly installment. Take this as a sign to sign up with a more reputable A rated carrier that doesn't have hoops you need to jump through. Just signed up with Lemonade. I'll be reporting these unethical practices to the insurance commissioner. I attached a photo as proof that they told me they were reviewing to accept my claim when in reality they had no intention.
I signed up with Pawp because I liked that they had an emergency fund up to $3000 for a one time per year usage. The cost $19.00 was reasonable and you could contact them 24 hrs a day. I liked that. We can afford vet visits and shots but in case of emergency we like the $3000 limit. However, we did not feel we needed to use it as we take great care of our dog she is family. I regularly take her on Tues to a pet day care. She has been going there for about 2 years. It give her time to be with her own kind and play. She is usually there about 4-5 hours. On Oct 19, Tues we took her there and picked her up. Wed the 20th she was kind of coughing as if she choked on something. We had taken in a puppy for awhile and the puppy kept bringing in pits from our Apricot tree that were just the seeds. Found several in the house and outside the patio and caught both the puppy and Daisy with one in their mouths. So naturally we thought Daisy had either swallowed one or had attempted to swallow one that got caught in her throat and irritated it. On Thurs the 21st Daisy was still coughing and I gave her some cough suppressant that seemed to help. On Friday she was hacking and coughing more severly and was discharging mucus a yellowish color from her nostrils. I contacted Pawp they took some notes and said a vet would be calling me. One did and I answered all her questions by video and she even viewed Daisy and her final conclusion was she needed to see a vet at my location right away. I called a vet I had used a while back and they took her in at I believe 10 am. Daisy was puking up yellow, discharging yellow snot and was weak. Was given an exam and an x-ray to see how much she had in her lungs of fluid. Was given a shot, some pills for cough, stomach, and antibiotics. Vet said she was very sick and would take about a couple of weeks to recover. After two weeks and antibiotics were done I called and the vet ordered her a different antibiotic. She is starting to recover. If this is not an emergency then Pawp has not business being in this line of work. They rejected my vet bill of $575.74 saying I did not take her soon enough to the vet and that it was the cause of her getting more ill. What a load of crap.
Pawp has a rating of 1.5 stars from 12 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Pawp ranks 566th among Pets sites.
