Literally all of my adult boyfriends have been through OKC. I am a dog groomer, before I owned my own business, I worked in salons with all women, and I am not into the whole social scene of clubbing and concerts. Anyway, 5 1/2 years ago this guy messages me on okcupid. He was funny and intelligent and loved to read, so we met up at a Hobby Lobby and he helped me cut out stencils to use for Creative Grooming.
I was the first woman he ever spoke with on OKC, whereas I had been on the site for about 6 years and met and dated a generous handful of guys. I was looking for something more permanent when I met this guy though, as I had an almost-2 year old son at the time.
5 1/2 years later, I am submitting this review as I nurse our 11 month old daughter to sleep. I am eternally grateful to this site for bringing us together. Use the site as it's mesnt to be used, fill out the silly questionaires and pay attention to the compatibility ratings. Be picky! Dont even bother talking to anyone that isnt 88% or higher compatible. Answer those questions honestly. And dont treat every date like it could be your last, or as if every man is your possible future husband. Just know what you want, only date men that are what you want, have fun, and enjoy yourself.
But I'm still freaking single lol! Every1 seems 2b sayin wejustfit.com is a good option so will give that mofo a shot and double my chances, I need all the help I can get lol!
Wow! Joined 3 days ago... the WORST most low class group of men on any dating site that I have been on. Be careful half of them are escorts or hedonists who are looking to draw you in (think they are REALLY interested in you as a person)... and then use and abuse you. One guy introduced himself with "I want to lick your $#*!?' Really? Trash! Degrading to women. Oh and 20 year olds will hit you up all day long thinking you are a cougar if your on the site and over 35 years old. Lastly they approved my profile from some silly quesitons I answered (half the time) I could not submit them cause the system was down. Yet Iguess some of them went through as they sent me an email saying...
Your profile, as of 8 milliseconds ago Approved!
Personality Really great
How bad people want you So bad
WTF? Bad people want me so bad?... HUH! What do they have under my profile when men look me up...?
Just Be careful! This is a hook-up site. If you're a nice person... forget it... you're not wanted on this dating site.
Really bad people on this site! Trust me please!
Part 2 on OKcupid date site I tell you i seen some scam before but they got a good one gone their
I decided to play a game i talk to 3 different women on the site on hangout and yhaoo chat they send these really nice pictures to you and ask to talk to you on yhaoo or hangout what with not talking on the phone any way i spend 4 around 4 hours on each one they tell you how great you are how they think you could be their soulmate they talk about how great they think you are and they ask you questions like what would like to do when you hook and how special you could be to them and then guest what here come the boom can you help out with some money one said she like to get a birthdate gift for herself and so on now mind you i only been talking to these women for a little more than 4 hours. I really think the site is just a place for women with a large ego. Now i could name name but what the point i really feel sorry for these women they really beautiful but beautiful can hide an evil heart.
Total waste of time at least for men. I have other guy friends that have tried okcupid as well and im the only one that hasnt given up yet and thats just because its free and I got time to waste. The girls virtually never reply and when they do its basically just to mess with you. Of the few that even do theyll message you once maybe 3 times then never again. Ive tried everything I could think of to get them to reply too. It doesnt matter what your profile says, what kind of pics you post, what kind of message you sent, or how high of a match you are they simply will not message you will not reply to yours. I have been on this site for the last 5 years whenever I was single and of the time i wasnt it was never any thanks to okcupid. I think this may be because it's free a lot of girl might figure theyll sign up just too mess around (not cool some of us are actually on there looking for someone). Maybe I got something maybe I dont but whatever the case is no matter what you do it is not likely you will have any luck whatsoever with this site.
Deleted my account because someone was HARRASSING me. Won't get ANYONE to respond to me I'm posting it all over social media. What a joke the website is. The messages I sent I received, the message I sent to the website and no respi se to reopen my account. I'd advise EVERYONE to STAY AWAY. Total joke of a site.
TL; DR Mid 30s. Male. New messaging system is geared towards inflating a meaningless metric instead of genuinely connecting its users.
I've used OKC off and on over the last year and a half with modest results. I used to get responses with humor and thoughtfully timing my messages when the person I'm interested comes online to increase the chances of them seeing my messages. For those that have used the new messaging system since around December 2017, surely you've noticed that the timeliness and quality of the messages you've gotten have progressively gotten worse. Also, 'Like' inflation is the result of the new system REQUIRING mutual likes before allowing you to respond with a message?... huh?!? Oh, that's right. OKC is either positioning themselves for higher 'perceived' valuation to sell-off -OR- to sell-out. This may be a 'catch-and-kill' tactic to for Match Group to buy the competition, then ruin it under the guise of 'making it better', so they don't cannibalize their revenues from Tinder, match.com, and PoF. I will admit OKC has a good idea to ensure potential connections are essentially vaporware by preventing users from even SEEING the profile of anybody they've messaged before without a response. I've gotten one-word conversation starters like 'hey' and 'sup' from female users and I assure you the lack of effort makes me never want to hear from them again. OKC makes sure of that, even if they've upped their game since that first message, they will be blocked from even seeing me. WIN-WIN or LOSE-LOSE. It's a matter of perspective.
Not a single response... Makes me wonder if the site is "real" or just an information gathering melting pot for others to try and make a buck.
The worst dating site. Full of married men and scammers. Don't waste your time on that site. It's nothing but dumpster diving.
My son visited your site and had someone try to scam him for money. I recommend no one use this site.
Low quality trash men
No offence but that's what they are i chatted with many
Thanks god i didn't met any
My experience on ok cupid was ok no pun intended when you get past the stuck up people and potential stalkers its a pretty good place to meet people
Bunch of people with unrealistic views on what they're looking for, yeah keep waiting for your prince charming, forever!
This site does not do wonders, if you are in a bad spot on the dating market, this site won't improve it, but more likely point out that you are in a bad spot.
On this kind of sites there are always scammers. I saw them usually being removed within 24 hours.
The site is basically free which gives enough options to communicate with people. Be aware nothing is really free so to use the best features you need to pay. That cannot be a surprise.
The match questions can be very usefull or very silly or too complicated to answer with a multiple choice action. Don't answer queries you do not want to answer, there are thousands so just skip these.
Also many questions are USA-based. The company is USA-based, so the obvious questions about Trump, gun control, mansplaining, micro-cheating are popping up like popcorn.
However the questions have been set up very broadly. If you are a devout christian, you can answer that you want to keep chaste till the wedding, intelligent design is science and are against abortion.
If you are a heteroflexible polyamorous atheist, who loves annilungus, who thinks capitalism is bad and trees have souls you also might find your match.
The site is functional, easy to message, and fun to see who's viewed you. I reviewed message and responses to my messages, which is what the site is for!
MY LOW RATING IS FOR A WARNING TO DO YOUR RESEARCH LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!
I started messaging with a man who is charming, handsome, fun, and very interesting. We chatted for a bit, exchanged phone numbers, texted but he would never respond to my requests to actually talk over the phone. He found me on Facebook without knowing my last name, and was strangely always available even though he supposedly had a job.
Looking through his Facebook I noticed a lapse in time and pictures of his children suddenly changing from young to drastically older.
So I Googled his name. Two hits with his mug shot in the Ohio prison system and a convicted felon at least once, maybe twice and a guilty charge for domestic violence! He said he was in prison after I had the proof but did not then disclose that he has 5 records over different times ranging from one thing going to another.
I was shocked and scared of this because I had to ask questions rather than him freely telling me that he lives in the hotel he works in, and no car. I'm thinking maybe he is still in prison? And if not still living the life of incarceration so why would he not lie and try to romance me? That's what cons do and most importantly he does not realize that he is not an honest man and has used what he learned in prison to manipulate and create a cover.
I stopped communicating with him immediately. His initials are JTO 44 yrs old white male from MA.
Answer: It's good only if you absolutely feel the need to burn your money and time! Seriously speaking, don't repeat my mistake! I had wasted plenty of time and emotions there trying to find a gem among rubbish. Just go to a decent and efficient site with good reputation and you will have plenty of choice there as long as you are a normal and adequate person. I'm using https://j4l.com/402007 And I'm content with it. I found several ladies that I really like, I had meetings with them and now its the time to choose for me!
Answer: OLC is so so... Most of the woman are in dream land and seeking Mr USA. And are not going to meet you in person 95% of the time... You really need to weed out the B. S & players... And that is simple to do... If they can't meet you in person in public with in one week. Drop them... Don't waste your time... Next!
Answer: Terri - this is what I recently sent in about OKC. I will answer your specific questions at the end of this. I have heard many complaints about OKC and scammers. But I AM NOT HAVING ANYWHERE NEAR THE PROBLEMS THAT OTHERS ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT. I am on several sites, and I experience about the same % of scammers on all. 1) it is so easy to spot a scanner - he wants to use email or text/phone right away. Is this really a problem? I immediately block. 2) if he is in Africa or any other 3rd world nation, I immediately block. I filter my messages so that I do not receive messages from anyone who has answered less than 100 questions or is at least an 85% match. Scammers are so obvious. Also, I note that most scammers claim to be "god-fearing christians," or "looking for an LTR or marriage." I am an atheist and very liberal and state this in my profile and my questions. I know what I am about to say is very offputting, snobbish, elite, etc., but I don't think scammers hit atheist, well-educated, and skeptical people as much as they do others (christians). Sorry, but I did say you wouldn't like that. Scammers are on every site. I have been following the sites and the complaints about scammers. My conclusion, based on my experience, blogs, and LOTS of research, indicate that every site has about the same amount of scammers. Sites that provide almost 0% info on potential matches (Zoosk, POF, tagged, Chemistry, Match, ourtime, etc. - all worthless for matching, IMO) do NOT have fewer scammer than OKC. I am also a moderator on OKC. WORD: Do a GIS on every picture on every profile on every site. It will tell you if the pics were stolen from a commercial source (models, actors, etc.) or not. I have had a ton (sometimes 3/week) of dates from OKC, and I do not believe any of these guys were scammers. Finally, if you know how to spot a scammer, what difference does it make how many there are on any site? I am 59. Yes, I have many very young men contacting me. I just say "You are too young, but thank you for your interest." If they reply, I block. As I stated, I've met tons of great guys (and of course, creeps) and had a lot of dates. I have a lot of correspondence before the date, and make it clear that I am looking for LTR and NOT FWB, NSA (what a load of crap). I have not clicked with anyone yet; but the, I am an atheist, free-thinker, liberal in Texas. Not a lot of guys hit on me (after 18 months on OKC, I only get about 8 guys/week hitting on me. Check my profile: I'm not gorgeous (LIB75002) or email me: joannar75002@gmail.com). I will be happy to help you further, if requested.
Answer: If you use care and caution it's safe. Women are subjected to more weirdos but you can block them. Spammers are going to get through and they will usually ask for your email or phone number. If someone interests you message a lot before you meet and always meet in a public place. If someone insists on more than you're comfortable with move on.
Answer: You have to understand on clear thing: THIS SITE IS A 2 IN 1 DEAL. People are vetted based upon: 1) their overall attractiveness + 2) their ability to PULL IN MORE USERS I have found an UNDERGROUND OKC and have made some friends in that with my last account, but then admin began asking me strange questions about my experiences there that sounded alot less like SITE PATROLLING and a lot more like I WAS FOUND OUT AS A NON INSIDER among that group. I have a running list of accounts that are "sponsored" by the site. I was among the very first to report that okc was OWNED BY MATCH.COM to be used as its social outlet site. HOWEVER AS OF 2 DAYS AGO A MUCH BIGGER ANNOUNCEMENT WAS MADE: Match.com BOUGHT POF /Plenty of Fish and has bought into /partnered with TINDER. By years end ALSO be on lookout for Ashley Madison to be brought into the fold. WHY ALL THIS: to cut radically the price of the investment & upkeep of all those lab created profiles. BY overlapping data bases and also ADMIN STAFF... The operating costs should have al least a 40% reduction which means 40% more profit. Just so you know Toni, look up Passionate Composer. I will write you back. REAL PEOPLE DO THIS. You may like the profile too. I was among the first to take advantage of the social site move.
Answer: Yes, I have had this happen a lot. People just want your phone number because they don't want to use the site. Then they want to ask questions like where you are from. I guess so they can research you. I am real leery about giving out my email and phone numbers. All kinds of scammers out there.
Answer: Yes, it is completely free... You pay for the more advanced features, but over the last ten years or so, I have met my last 6 lovers through the site ( though oftentimes it turns out that we already knew the same people... The matching algorithms are simply_that_ *good*!) and have never given them a single penny. ( though honestly, I really should, if only out of gratitude!) Give it a try, it really is head and shoulders above the rest of the sites out there...!
Answer: Not really, before Okcupid went full on liberal wasteland they used to release their numbers/stats and it was never bad to begin with. I believe it was like 60/40 depending on how you set up your searches. In my state it was close to 50/50.
OkCupid has a rating of 1.9 stars from 648 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with OkCupid most frequently mention fake profiles, customer service and phone number. OkCupid ranks 644th among Dating sites.
