I have no idea how the average review rating is above 4 stars, but this company operates on the basis of misleading you. They charge an initial fee which you are lead to believe is the unlock fee (usually around €15). A day later, they then send you the price to unlock the phone (an extra €107 in my case). I could have had it unlocked for €100 by my provider, but for the sake of speed (quoted 12 hours) I paid official sim unlock. Note: OSU charge you even when it's most often free to unlock the phone from the service provider.
10 days later, they still had not unlocked the phone. OSU responded to email queries to say the unlock would be soon. They never answer phone calls. My phone was locked to Three Ireland and when I lost patience with OSU, I contacted Three Ireland and they unlocked the phone for free within hours. The tracker page provided by OSU still shows 50% unlocked and that is 2 months ago at time of this review. They did not give a refund even though they failed to unlock the phone. I successfully got my money refunded by bank charge-backs.
Do not use this company. Their practices are misleading and dishonest. The fact they use a virtual business address in London and don't answer any calls should be all the details you need to keep away. It appears to be run by a single male director who I suspect is the same person sending the response emails, posing as a woman. I wasn't diligent to begin with, but you can avoid the inconvenience I went through.
Don't tell u about extra fees and time u have to wait. It's not a 24 hour service and the initial fee is not the only payment. Just another firm full of lies and sneaky terms
Don't tell u about extra fees and I'm sure I payed the initial payment twice now
This company is a scam, misleads the user to believe the £18 is full cost then requests £46 extra cost to release network unlock code. The extra cost they asked for is way above any other company
SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM. COST £17 24 Hours later wanted more money as it was expensive phone and under contract
It was a 10 year old brick style phone and not had a contract for 21 years
Complete scam. Dont fall for it. I did. Don't respond to emails and number doesn't work
Disgusting crooks and I wonder where this money goes
Con artists
However they get away with it cos it costs more to take them to court.
I think I'll contact trading standards about them.
Rejects 1st info, all info be put in at least 2 times, charges low fee for to start then increases to over £70 before they apparently offer to unlock, probably another closure fee then.
They didn't get success for unlocking device now they ask then will not return my amounts 135$. They ask me before they will return full amount if they didn't get success.
AVOID AVOID AVOID!
RIP OFF. First price given is, as they say for chacking phone. Price they give you for phone unlocking is 3 times HIGHER, not even sure if it would work then
****(By ticking this box you confirm you have read and understood our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy documents which explains the pre order service you have chosen, a further charge may be applied depending on the network/contract status of the device.)***** OPP
These guys clearly knew what they were doing because they handle my phone faster than I thought. The best part is that I didn't lose any data as I thought I would. They did a great job.
SCAM SCAM SCAM Do not give them your money. Your led to believe a price the whole way through the purchase and then you have to tick a little box at the end that basically lets them tell you that you only paid for them to check if your phone is unlockable. TOTAL SCAM
THERE ARE REVIEWING THEMSELVES ON TRUST PILOT TO KEEP THEIR SCORE UP.
They will generate a reply to this about 30 day money back guarantee. THIS IS A SCAM TOO, I've asked for it and they won't give it because I paid them to just check if my phone was unlockable. Total scumbags
So far so good.
Let's see how happy I am when it is done
Yes I am very happy but not with the price it said £19 and i had to pay £70 on top off that you need to put full price on.
Keep well away.
They take your original payment of $ 36 then for some unknown reason ask for a 2nd payment of $ 87 and you have no choice but to pay it.
I would give them no stars.
DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY MONEY. STAY AWAY.
This company is a scam and a joke! After receiving a prepayment they are asking to pay 5 times more in order to release your code. That is unacceptable!
This site is a complete scam I plead with you don't trust or believe a word they say. I immediately paid them $27 and then the next day the technician/ worker replied back to me saying I'm sorry but they can't help me n that I was at fault because I gave them the wrong IMIE NO:. Now they show themselves in there own foot. My emails and screenshots of the IMIE NO of the phn itself. Prove that I gave them the correct details I made sure because I checked it like more then 10 times. I'm hoping now that I proved them wrong that i will be getting my refund back. But I don't like my chances. If they make good on there refund I give my word I'll make good on my review. But till then ppl I have all the proof you need of what I had sent them n email them. Everything lines up good with me. But everything on there side is way of. Om all the proof you need so don't just say in ur head ohhh it's only $20-$30 keep it n save it because u won't get nothing more then a email telling u you sent them incorrect info n can't get a refund. Save it just imagine yourself multiplied by easy over 100 ppl a day do the math for these ppl who choose to sit back n rob ppl n laugh at ppl. There making great money n all cash in hand, I hope u read this and don't fall victim to this scam. Thanks
I had little to no idea how to proceed once I moved to England. I found SIM Unlock online and trusted the site and its team to help me. It was quick and easy... thank you very much!
After paying the £23.99 including VAT to have the company send me an unlock code for the phone, it took them over the guaranteed 24 hour timeframe to contact me with my product.
In the meantime, I call O2 to inquire about some of the strange terms and conditions on the OSU website. They told that I don't need to unlock an O2 phone, and that OSU should have checked that and should have known better than to take my money.
Nevertheless, Official Sim Unlock proceeded to take my money and refused to give a refund. What's worse, when I finally got the email confirmation of delivery for the unlock code, in order to unlock it I had to pay an additional £59.99! (including 20% VAT). They had a very strange reason for this which is absolute conjecture: "Your phone is a very expensive device and is subsidised by the carrier over the length of your contract, the carrier requires this additional unlocking fee to cover their potential loss of revenue. Research on the internet will show you that our price is one of the lowest in the industry and our time scales are most certainly the fastest."
Laughable. O2 assured me that they do not lose revenue over their contracts, nor do any other carriers.
After emailing the company they gave me the usual terms and conditions jargon and didn't listen to my story.
I then spoke to the lovely people at O2 over the phone again and they assured me that unlocking phones should not be that price. Official Sim Unlock were no help over email to rectify the situation and refused to refund me.
Please do not use this company. I cannot stress this enough.
Scam site, take your money without telling you you are paying for an eligibility check instead of an unlock code. There are far more light sites to get an unlock code. Avoid these scammers
(1) Your two step payment requirement and total pricing was not adequately explained at the time of initial order. At the time of the request for a second payment the buyer is remined to check the terms and conditions of the unlock contract to verify a second payment is required. This second payment and overall product cost should be posted to the landing page and be clear. (2) the unlock instructions provided with the unlock code were completely wrong, specifically, the Blackberry Classic did NOT prompt for an unlock when re-started with a foreign SIMM card. In fact the Blackberry Classic had to be re-started with NO SIMM CARD. Then you have to go to NETWORK settings and then you have to select NETWORK. Only then are you prompted to input the unlock code and yes, the unlock code did work instantly. (3) My request for help on finding the location of an unlock prompt were never answered.
You two step and total pricing was not adequately explained at the time of initial order.
It's very rare that I write reviews but just had to write this for these scam merchants!
As others have said you pay an initial fee which isn't made clear at the time of contracting. I paid £19.41 then I received an email to say Good news we can unlock your phone in 24 hours you just need to pay £74.28, although disappointed it seemed so close to having the phone unlocked I paid it.
A week later despite emails being sent back and forth telling me it was happening I got another email saying that they couldn't unlock the phone and as a gesture of good will they would refund 50% When I expressed surprise as they had sent an email saying Good News etc... they said that was the offer take it or leave it. So I agreed that was on 23rd April.
I waited the 5 working days and no refund, I contacted them again and was told that the refund had been processed.
I contacted them again asking for details of the transaction so I could pass it onto my credit card company I know receive no reply to either phone or email messages and still no refund!
I am considering a County Court Claim but am unable to find out their company address, I suspect its not in the UK!
After using a cheaper site (£4.99) for an unlock code for a Samsung s9 that i bought for £120, they returned a result they were unable to unlock it & refunded me.
Easy to order, easy to pay. Just waiting on results now...
Started out at £19 which I accepted only to find out at the end the cost went up to something over £45. The seller assures me the phone is well out of contract so I was disappointed it cost so much.
Answer: 100 percent a scam; morally, legally, colloquially speaking.
Answer: No I would advise you to go somewhere else. This company is a total ripoff.
Answer: You didn't realize it because officialsimunlock.com didnt want you to realize it, at least until after they reeled you in with a first "prepayment".
