As a person who travels overseas extensively I now find that I am unable to log on whilst overseas to see what is happening in my neighborhood back home. The Nextdoor login automatically takes me to Nextdoor in the country I am visiting and then denies me access as this site obviously does not have a database that recognises my membership in the US.
Doesn't Nextdoor appreciate that the USA is part of a much wider community? Don't the programmers you employ appreciate that some members travel outside their neghborhood but would still like to maintain contact with what is going on back home?
A little thought beyond the fence would be appreciated!.
It's just a site for your neighbors to gather and bully those with whom they don't agree. At its best, it's a bad classifieds section. Usually it's bullying and a conspiracy theory discussion hub with leads able to do whatever they'd like and everyone else held to their capricious "standards"
Unless you mirror and blend in with the cliques and the Leads, they will remove your posts, no matter the topic. They can bully and shame gay neighbors, but gay neighbors can't defend themselves, no matter how diplomatically posed. It is so blatant, I can't believe they are an ongoing site. The idea is so great, they are going to ruin themselves if they do not course correct.
I was a lead on Nextdoor, they sent me an email asking me to look at some posts that were reported and asked me to vote on whether they should be deleted or not. I read every single one they sent me I think 6 or 7 and only one of them did I vote to have removed. Today I get another email, telling me that several of the posts violated their terms of service and I should have voted to have them removed. I am thinking why the hell ask me to cast a vote if you don't respect my opinion? I am done with Nextdoor, I will probably be banned after the scathing reply I sent them. I don't care if I am banned for life or not. Nextdoor is useless and I am blocking their emails now.
This is a scam to get you to put in money with nothing to benefit your community. Bots and pre programmed situations will make you feel safe. But it's really just a way to get into your purse. If you want to make a difference start your own local neighborhood group. Do not join this false site.
Unfortunately, I started next door with the best intentions, l became aware that it had very liberal leanings, if my opinion differed from theirs, not only was l sensured, l was actually accused of being homophobic, amongst other things
Now admittedly, at 82 years of age, my Era did think differently,
We didn't have cancel culture, we did however have a God loving and America first mentality, sadly that appears to be a thing of the past.
So please be aware to not get into any type of political discussion, it's very demeaning and not worth your time, did l mention l have been punished by next door, l have been banned for 30 days.
I shall not be returning as l have better things to do with my life
Thank you
Nothing but problems when I moved. In addition to the problems of linking my business with a different email address. After getting the linking resolved, I moved and can't access the business page at all, no matter what browser I use. I can only access my personal page with Chrome, Opera browser keeps taking me to the business page that is stuck in a loop asking to claim the business, then saying it's already claimed. Can't switch between accounts in Chrome, the option is not there.
Customer service is entirely through email and it takes days to accomplish anything. It's truly a love-hate relationship with this app because I do get a lot of business through it!
I had a safety issue with a man physically hitting my car, getting out and yelling in my face. Yes, a total stranger who came in to my neighborhood and threatened my safety. The lead took my posting off saying it was facebook material, not nextdoor.com. The leads do not even need to tell you or talk with you about it before they remove it. A good example is that on a safety issue, men and women could have very different views. When one's safety and the safety of others in the community is taken off because a lead thinks it should be, how valid is anything on the web site? Who would ever put a safety issue on Facebook, by the way? I know I wouldn't. Again, if the leads are going to remove something, wouldn't it be more humane to give the person who is writing the comment a chance to edit their comments. This kind of censorship does not seem "American" to me.
Not only does Nextdoor.com Play favorites and bias towards their own policies, they do not follow their rules and regulations with many open ended non descript Rules that they use unfairly towards their members. I have started a large class action lawsuit against them and I assure you it will got to trial and be a huge media event.
I was on for one day. That's all it took for me to see the lies and gossip that one person can spread, and everyone jumps on the bandwagon. I cancelled right away, made me feel sick to my stomach. These are people that mind their own business, work hard and are just trying to have good lives like the rest of us. They are not even on Nextdoor and can't even defend themselves. They are just wondering why everyone gives them the cold shoulder. And it only takes 1 person to start a rumor. My mom is a lawyer. "Defamation of character is a term that is used to describe when false statement is written or spoken about an individual with the intent of harming or slandering their reputation."
Nextdoor is fabulous to learn about your community. It's great how it brings the community a bit closer and learn about what is going on in our community. I was a part of Nextdoor in my previous hometown and now since moving to another area has given me not only information in my new community but a vehicle to meet people.
I enjoy checking in to Neighborhood.com to find out what is going on in the town that I live in and even in my own neighborhood. It gives you a feeling of security that we're watching out for one another.
Good place to post if you've got something for sale or just to post that you are looking for that special item or to have something around or on your property that needs to be fixed.
Also a great place to post if you have a run away pet so it can be identified and returned to its home. I really enjoy this site!
Recent comment that was accepted by the website "I wish the people who will not take the covid vaccine, catch covid and die. This will make it better for the rest of us" Really they let this type of trash stay up and if you disagree your account is disabled. And Good Luck if you think that the President Public Christmas Message will stay on the site. Too religious! The website is about as nasty as it gets. Stay away unless you want to "dance with the devil"
Even though they have a national and state political section, no dissenting views. You get blocked from the site with no explanation. A lot a nasty liberals who only want to have it their way. Sorry that the only star rating allows for one star. This one should be a negative review. No customer service. What a joke.
Next door in California blocked me from the website after using my Hawaiian Name on the website, which appears racist. Would you ban Barack Obama because his name is not caucasian? Next door suborns bullying, and harassment by allowing a man to bully and harass me, directly violating website rules and he "flags" me for a name issue and they block me! Ironic and sad... This needs to be public knowledge.
Just like the other oligarch social media sites of Twitter, Facebook, Google, they censor anything they don't like or agree with even when the points are articulate, decent, and evidence based. The leads (aka "monitors") in Huntsville, AL (*******) are particularly biased. It's like being back in high school with the mean girls running the show.
There's some information that crops up on Nextdoor occasionally that makes it kinda interesting. None of it is earthshaking. Little of it is of much real value.
Their new 2-step verification login for a site that has little or no actual value is absurd. It's as if they want you to quit. Well, I just did.
I was in need of some drywall work and I know from past experience that finding a handyman can be a big challenge, They either don't return calls, don't show up when they say they will or, want an arm and a leg to perform the work. I decided to contact Michael Alvarado of M. A. Handy Carpentry Tel. *******646 because he posted his card on the Nextdoor site. I was pleasantly surprised when he returned my call very promptly and we agreed to meet after I told him what I needed. He came to our house the next day and was ready to start. He was very competitive in his price quote and did a marvelous job. I would highly recommend him for any and all jobs in the future and I intend to call him again when I need some work done!
Like previous review very one sided if one person complains they remove you without explainition there is no consideration to the fact that the person whom reported you might actually be wrong. I posted to nextdoor a series of complaints they intern did not address any of them. When I asked them to review their policies for our particular neighbor hood siting that all my neighbors requested the review of policy they did not respond
I called with a plumbing issue; Dan told me to check something first to see whether a service call was really needed, or would be really unnecessary. He was right, and it saved me having to spend for a service call for a small simple matter. Not many plumbers would do that to help a potential customer with a simple fix not requiring a service call. I appreciate it very much, and thus will keep him in mind for future issues.
I've successfully used Nextdoor Felida for several years now and it's been an important part of my life, I've recommended it to many people. Lately it has been different and very difficult to use to the point of me considering dropping it all together. Also, there does not seem to be monitoring of this site anymore.
That makes me sad. I miss the old easy to use and informative Nextdoor. PLEASE go back to that.
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Check out https://wiggio.com or www.neighborhoodlink.com
Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
