I own a business in the Tahoe Park area in Sacramento and most of the reviews and comments that people leave on Nextdoor are really hateful. A Man named Matthew DeVerioux (Colonial Manor) wrote three very hateful post about me and my store and how he was half owner of my coffee shop plaster fake information about me, and then I found out who my real people are. It's ok if you don't like me... I am very ok with that, but I don't post about your life and if I did it would be the truth...
And for that and Nextdoor letting this go on and on and telling me three weeks ago is to long ago to remove it? Ok what about the three days ago or the few hours ago? When will it end? And why does Matthew? Get to use a fake name? That is not his real name>>> (Matthew DeVerioux)
Originally found next door very useful then area changed to stamperland, I do not live in stamperland and area described as stamperland is not and very small - constantly being asked by nod to recruit as only 5 members
This is the absolute worst site. It should be one that keeps neighbors informed about important neighborhood matters such as safety. Instead if allows for and provides a platform for those that enjoy spewing hate, slander and false facts; as is the case on all of social media. The problem here is that it alleges it has rules and conduct rules.
Complaints go unresolved. Stay clear
I was just banned because the site allowed me to sign in with my Facebook account. Some man clearly wearing pantyhose reported me for not using my real name. How is this even possible when their site allowed me to sign in using my Facebook account? The guy who complained was White and I'm not.
NOT SAFE! I was skeptical at first to use this as a close neighborhood communication page for lost pets and such but learned that you cant keep your privacy on this site from anybody. This diffidently puts people at risk of bringing problems to your front door of your family home. Your information is then on the www for anyone anywhere to gather way to much info about you and use it however they want.
NEXTDOOR Banned me from their site for exposing them for promoting people that have no contractors license at all and are performing duties that require a license such as installing new hardwired electrical appliances or building a new closet or adding lighting or plumbing. Handymen are only allowed to perform minor, casual, or inconsequential projects totaling less than $500 for the entire project. All electrical work is not inconsequential or minor or casual. Protect your family and assets by hiring a licensed insured contractor.
When this first started it was great, now they have joined our senior community to 14 or more other neighborhoods all over town and most of our members cannot figure out how to restrict the others, which can be done, but you should have a say in who can be joined to your Next Door account before they are added in and not have all this drama to stop comments from across town. Impossible to reach live help. Now we are getting ads from businesses that we are not interested in. Many are dropping out because they do not want all these irrelevant comments dailyll
After I realized how abusive people were and that now they knew where I lived I changed my name on there to my birth name because I was down right scared. The Nextdoor app people sent me an email letting me know that I was banned for changing my name. I changed the short version of my first name to the long version. I was asked to email them a copy of my photo ID, Passport, Utility Bill etc. I'm pretty sure they're attempting to gather my personal details. I bet we'll be hearing about something major with the app someday. Identity theft etc.
I am new to Seattle and have a multiracial son. I joined next door and thought it was great until implicit and now explicit racism is popping up in threads about Police Community Meetings and Strangers in the Neighborhood. It is appalling. I feel like I am back in the Midwest.
This website may have good intentions, but good intentions aren't enough. This sight is just a way to bully. If you have minor children and aren't fond of or agree with everyone in your neighborhood then stay away. If you do feel you are being bullied and get an invite; if you or your children's safety may be a concern; contact your children's school. They most likely have crisis intervention specialist who can connect with the police who have access to this website without giving up their real, full name and address and they can help protect you and your family. The support from the website in non existent so this is the safest route.
I love Nextdoor. Thanks to Nextdoor, I know who the racists are in my neighborhood. I also know who has enough time on their hands to report all the "suspicious" people that happen to walk past their house during the course of the day. I never knew there were that many paranoid people living in such close proximity. If you report posts for racial profiling, which is strictly prohibited according to Nextdoor guidelines, the poster is notified. This does nothing but rally the racists who then like to gang up on the minority of nonracists. Thanks to Nextdoor, I also know which households "have a gun and aren't afraid to use it". I can't thank Nextdoor enough for empowering paranoid, gun toting racist with nothing better to do then stare out the window all day. If you are afraid of any person that happens to be in your neighborhood that does not have the same skin tone as you, this is the app for you.
I am getting spammed by Nextdoor.com. I replied to a spam by hitting the unsubscribe link. That link requires me to create an account before I can unsubscribe. Since I do not want Nextdoor.com to have my personal information, I am stuck with their spam. I wrote them an email and they refuse to unsubscribe me without making an account.
This is absolutely the worst app yet! It clearly states that there's no bashing and no slandering, but they continue to let this happen time and time again. I don't understand it, they are suppose to help you feel safe and help you with community issues, but really all this app does is cause drama. I've been threatened and bullied and I am tired of it. My neighbor behind me is the most abusive! I get it's okay to have an opinion, but there's a difference between an opinion and bashing. I've seen it for several months now, against people, mostly those who volunteer for the community. These people are being bashed for caring about their community. I've reported it but nothing helps. I have tried deleting the business page I personally set up because I am closing my business down, but have been told I cannot do that? I claimed the business and set up the page! I should be able to delete it. I give up on this app and the community I live in.
Since a big brown envelope changed hands pretty much overnight, Streetlife was no more. I used to get quite a bit of work from streetlife but since the changeover I rarely get notified of any work at all.
No search function on a website is beyond all rational thinking. In this day and age and they can't even be bothered to add such a simple function. After emailing them and getting a reply 4 days later, I was told that a search function was 'in their list of to dos' still nothing and this was months ago.
It asks for too much information about you which Is very obtrusive and generally a terrible 2d layout.
It's no wonder your ratings are so so poor.
I liked the idea of this site, but immediately upon joining it, I found that the only things neighbors talked about are how they hate the idea that there is occasional a homeless guy at a park in the neighborhood, or to spread gossip about another neighbor.
That might not be nextdoor.com's fault directly, but the spam and badly designed site certainly are. The advertise that they "partner with over 500 police agencies", which apparently means you aren't allowed to ever question the police's use of force or anything else. The site has bad policies all around and I'll be happy when they go under.
Since when does Nextdoor not allow neighbors to post "Immediate Release" information from the ACLU relevant to events happening in our community? Isn't civil rights a neighborhood's right to know?
I was attacked from so many for "trying to incite violence"... etc. I don't see how a Immediate Release report is considered inciting violence.
Our leads claim you cannot have a discussion the Nextdoor policies on the main feed Anyone else have this?
It clearly states that there's no bashing and no slandering but they continue to let this happen time and time again. Everyone on this site promotes their business. People respond to request foe certain things. But this guy who i guess wife has a cleaning business as well. Flags my promotions inboxing me saying im posting spam. Now they have blocked me from posting or even replying. I thought this would be great for my business and i actually got a call and a cleaning with a great recommendation but now im blocked.
Nextdoor has no customer support. They remove posts that follow guidelines simply because someone else doesn't like it never listening or viewing both sides. It's suppose to be a place to share information but its more bullying and gossipers than anything else. Will not return - save your time.
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Check out https://wiggio.com or www.neighborhoodlink.com
Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
When neighbors start talking, good things happen.
