If I only I could give minus rated stars I would - 1 is far too high.
Please save yourself the hassle and stay as far away as possible from this company - they are thieves.

We had booked a mini van for four days in August, which we had fully paid for in advance. The van didn't turn up on the day we had booked it for. No one at Nationwide picked up our calls until the next day, at which point they confirmed that the third party supplier they were providing the mini van from could not supply it. It wasn't until later the next day after numerous phone calls, Nationwide managed to track down another supplier that could provide us with a mini van. However, we were told we had to travel 50 miles to collect the mini van and personally go back and return it - rather than the original service we paid for which was Nationwide would deliver and pick up the mini-van.

Nationwide promised to refund us for the 1 day we did not receive the mini van and it is now November and all we have received is £12 - which is shocking. No one responds to emails, phone-calls. And even we have been using my bank who through their disputes team is helping us to get a refund. I have just viewed correspondence to my bank from the director of Nationwide - Jeff - and Marcelle customer service assistant who have outright denied that the mini van was provided a day late.

We will now be taking this matter to trading standards.

Don't use this company

Over charged me by £206.02, then couldn't deliver the day on the date paid for! 3 weeks later still waiting for them to refund me, i have spoken to my bank and citizens advice about this, i just want this to get sorted.

Do not use this company, over promise and under deliver. Rude, couldn't care less staff. Told us a time 2 hours after promised time no van arrived! Save your money and time, shop elsewhere

Booked a week ago been a nightmare rang every day told to sent licence and do this do that now just rang have not got a van for us tomorrow and moving out tomorrow utter stress all week now have no van to move quick enough to take my Monday do know when I will get back utter waste of time

With no warning - Why have I wrongly been charged £40 for Fuel Surcharge when I refuelled and returned the van FULL of Diesel?
Also they were 2 hours late with delivery and 3 1/2 hrs late collecting

I give one star because I can't give ZERO

This is a shambolic and unethical organization. Booked a van months ahead and paid in full.

Sent me to the wrong pick up point. Could not get them on the phone and had to rent alternative vehicles.

Admitted their mistake in writing and promised a refund which has not happened. Stonewalling goes on 2 months later

Nice website however you risk being coned by the some what sharp directors Kate and Jeff. Stay away they run a contract base scam to lighten your bank account so read the small print before you sign, their terms and conditions which in my case stated they have the right to change what ever they wish whenever they wish other wise you could lose you home by renting anything from them, I lost almost £600,00 and I didn't even see the vehicle I was trying to rent,

I used Nationwide for the first (and last) time last week. I booked a van on the spur of the minute and paid £107 for one day. I then checked reviews (I know, too late!). Reviews were 50/50 good/bad, but ALL said they were bad communicators and my God were they right!

They must all be based in separate countries speaking different languages and in different dimensions; they were HOPELESS.

I eventually had to get in touch with one of the Directors to get something done and he failed to do it.

After the van was collected, I complained directly to the same Director about his staff and their attitude and he never responded to me at all - UNBELIEVABLE!

I need a van this week too and have gone to Europcar - Two days hire £85 - SAY NO MORE!

I booked a Ford Galaxy in April costing £700 which they took immediately, for a weeks holiday in Cornwall with my two grandsons August 19th. Waited for the car which was supposed to be delivered at 8.45 am. At 9 o clock I phoned and they said the car was on its way. This went on for a hour my two grandsons in tears at this stage. After the 6 the phone call they said there was something wrong with the car and would phone back which they did not. Phoned again only to be good to go to another car hire firm. This is totally unacceptable and they can surely not treat people like this. There were no apology no holiday. Avoid this firm at all costs if you want a ruined holiday. Which I had never heard of nationwide car hire totally unprofessional.

The worst! Avoid them, especially if you are in mooving date... with babies. So many calls from my part to confirm our van... They take 1hour to use your card details to be paid for the service without confirming. I spend 3 days trying to have any sure that we gonna have van. In the morning day X, they confirmed by phone, that we'll have vehicle on the evening. No van! No call or email from them! To have my money back I had to call them again.

Disgusting service, let down a whole family with 3 children on their moving day not just once but 3 times with broken promises and still kept our payment until the end of the day that we were meant to move which then won't be refunded for 3 working days so couldn't even book another company. Completely devastated on an already stressful occasion. You are a cancer to hire company's and I am seeking legal advise.

Do not use this company. They are the worst communicators on the planet! I hired a van to pick up in Glasgow and drop off two weeks later in Norwich. The van was a mess with no petrol in it. It was restricted to 55mph, the horn and the side door didn't work and one of the tires was bald! The day after I picked the van up they sent me an email saying that I have to return the van to Glasgow, I sent three emails trying to negotiate some options while I was still in Scotland without a reply. In the end, I managed to get someone to take the van back to Glasgow a week early without their help. It cost me a bunch to rearrange things last minute. I have been back over a month now trying to get this resolved and I still have not received and money back or even an apology. Stay away from these guys. They are just a broker that don't set things up right and are not prepared to fixed things afterward.

Worst service ever received!
Hired a minibus for 5 days to travel around France & England. The minibus arrived late on the confirmed delivery date. I then received a call on the collection day that the driver was already at the collection address and was 7 hours early to pick the minibus up! Obviously the minibus was still in use and not ready. Called to confirm that the minibus would be ready for collection that evening, the next morning the minibus had still not been collected!
Emailed 3/4 times and called several times and didn't hear back. Terrible customer service and never responds to any emails.
Would never use again!

I ordered a minibus for a long weekend, I even rang the company the day before to make sure everything was ok for the next day. The minibus was due to arrive at 13:15, at 13:00 (just 15mins before the scheduled arrival) I got a call saying that they hadn't secured a vehicle and that one would be delivered at 16:00. I had to change all my plans for the weekend to accommodate. I kept on having to ring them for updates as there was no communication. I will definitely stay clear of them from now on. Worst hire company I've used.

My £180 was re-credited to my account as I was advised it had by Natonwide Hire UK earlier that day when I called to enquire about a refund as the van not shown up at 08.30 on 29. 7. 2017.
In view of all the other horror stories I have read here I think I have been lucky.

At 08.25 NationwideHireUK called to say they were delayed until 10.00
I then made x5 inquiry calls to NationwideHireUK, variously I was told it was enroute but they did know when the van was dispatched or where it was (they were a vast organisation) by a collection of evasive and unhelpful staff who it transpires were not telling the truth - there was no Van enroute and there never had been one organised. From the sounds in the background it seemed they were all in the same room but they kept insisting there were in different offices in different parts of the country.

At 10.58 a Mr Jag Patel of Go Rental Ltd called to say NationwideHireUK had instructed them I wanted a Van Hire at short notice they could do it but there would be a £150.00 deposit and the van would be with me at 12.30.

Having by now read the reviews here about the relationship between NationwideHireUK and Go Rental Ltd I did not take up Mr Jag Pate's proposal.

At 12.41 someone on a mobile claiming to be from Go Rental Ltd called to say they had a van for me it then transpired he was not yet n the vicinity and he would possibly be with me at between 13.30 and 14.00 (He claimed to be stuck on the A406 at Brent Cross-about 20 minutes away) Also the call sounded as if it were in an office not a van.

This shifty untrustworthy bunch of characters have managed to wreck a planned delivery of furniture to my daughter and taken £180 from my account in the process.

A payment dispute has been raised with my bank, to my mind this has been tantamount to attempted theft

From my experience NationwideHireUK cannot be trusted
They have wasted an inordinate amount of my time and ruined a planned weekend.

DO NOT GIVE THIS COMPANY THE TIME OF DAY STEER CLEAR

Terrible - I hire a van from them and arrange a collection for Saturday morning for 10:30 - no one bothers to turn up nor tell me they are not coming. I have to start ringing around to find out that they will be attending on Monday between 9-4. I actually have a job so will not be around so I am told I have to make it available which I had done on the time BOOKED! I'm then told to leave the keys but I clearly want to make sure I go over the van with the driver before they try and tell me there is damage which I clearly have not done!
I am then told by Imran I will be charged for it not being collected! This is horrendous I will not be paying for a complete mess up from your company! I book a collection slot when I am around and not working I am not taking a day off because you couldn't collect when you were meant too. Terrible customer service too!

The van arrived late, upon waiting for the van to be picked at up 10.30 am after hiring, I phoned the company to determine the pickup time. I was told it could take up to 48 HOURS before being picked up, furthermore the company informed me the vehicle is MY RESPONSIBILITY until they picked it up via email, I told them it was parked on a narrow road, they insisted it was STILL MY RESPOSIBILITY FOR 48 HOURS even though the contract had technically ceased. It took them 3 DAYS to pick it up. They then took photos of the vehicle and minutely examined it. DO NOT TRUST OR USE THEM.

My husband and I booked and paid for a LWB Van from this terrible company earlier this year to move some furniture to Italy.
A week before our removal date we phoned this company to confirm the van would be arriving at our home on the arranged date. We had some large items of furniture and needed to confirm the van would definately be a LWB van size. We were told the van would now be arriving two days later than booked and we would have to accept what size was available from the supplier as the hiring was sub contracted to a different company. We had pre booked and paid for the ferry crossing and hotels were now starting to panic. After several phone calls to Nationwide we were assured the van would be arriving on the correct date and it would be the required size but the van arrived it was a smaller size than booked and therefore too small to accommodate our large furniture, we had to send the delivery driver away! We rang Nationwide repeatedly and after several attempts to speak with a member of staff, eventually we were informed they did not have a van available the required size and suggested we should look elsewhere. I politely asked for a refund and was told by a rude advisor that it was not company policy before she hung up the phone. I have emailed the company and tried to ring them on several occassions and nobody will discuss giving a refund This company have taken a subsequent unauthorised payment from my credit card. PLEASE BEWARE AND AVOID! NOT WORTH A 1

Do not use this company. Absolutely horrendous service. Called them on Tuesday to book a mini-bus for Thursday; I sent them all of the required information and even contacted them to check that they had received it and that it was sufficient. All I received in response was an informal, curt reply of "We are checking your information. You can check it yourself at (link)." Then, on the day of the supposed delivery, no mini-bus appeared at 8:30am as booked, and we received an email 45mins later saying only "Unfortunately we are unable to supply a vehicle for your requested rental dates." Bearing in my I had tried to check with them less than 24hrs before! Absolutely appalling. Do not use!
