This company is an agency - they take your money without even knowing whether they have a vehicle available or not.
Their website says "available" on all vehicles but they do not actually know if it is available and whether they can get one.
They could not get mine but because they had taken my card details, and taken the money! It took three working days for the money to come back into my account which meant that I did not have the money to hire another vehicle.
They actually cost me a lot in lost time and I was not able to buy pick-up goods I was after.
The staff lied to me saying that they had not taken the money. This was only partly true as they had requested the money which then resides in between your bank and theirs for at least 3 days and you cannot access it. The Directors, Jeff and Kate, hide behind the staff and will not speak with you to resolve the problem.
I am very happy with this service i would reccomend this to anybody and everyone a solid thumbs up because the van arrived right on time and was picked up right on time and we weren't charged any extra fees.
We hired a mini bus to go from Ipswich to Manchester. When the bus was delivered we asked the men about petrol. They said just to make sure the van was full when they came to collect it the next day. We filled the van to the top. About 2 weeks later I had an email from nationwide hire to say they had taken money out of my account as there was insufficient fuel in mini bus. When contacted they said it was for fuel back to depot. How do I put fuel in an already full tank? The men said to just make sure it was full! Customer service is the worst I have ever come across. Never ever again will I use these. Or recommend them to anyone. I'm still fighting the fuel dispute. We go away a lot and hire mini buses. So nationwide hire have lost our custom. Total disgrace.
We Hired a Luton van from Nationwide with drop tail gate, for house move, only to be told the day prior to the move they dont have one available reluctantly agreed to a long wheel base van (apparently similar dimensions) only to have a small VW transporter dropped off by Europcar. This vehicle was totally unsuitable for the job at hand. After contacting Nationwide we were informed that we apparently agreed with the manager via phone that we were happy with this vehicle this was a blatant lie. Nationwide refused to comment further. It wasnt for the lack of trying, I found there empty promises of the manager will call you back and finally being called a liar and hanging up on me totally unacceptable.
Do not book with these lot. They have the worst customer service agents I have ever dealt with and just don't care when they get things wrong. They also try taking money from your card for additional costs and you have to wait weeks to get it back. Avoid them at all costs
Minibus arrived on perfect timing today, would totally recommend. Great service, keep it up!

Today I place an order to hire a truck and was delighted with the service. Upon calling Nationwide I was greeted by a very helpful employee. She was clear and concise in explaining all of the details about the different trucks available and all of the terms and conditions. Natinwide struck the perfect balance between being helpful while also giving me space to think. Prior to placing my order I had already been to the majority of their competitors but due to the high level of service received felt no need to widen my search or go back to any of the other companies.
Last week I hired at truck too. I called twiced before hiring, on both occasions, I was treated well and given all the help i needed. The whole experience on both days and the completions of the sales was nothing but excellent. The ordering process was throughly explained from start to completion. I feel totally satisfied that I chose the best place and think that others would have a good experience too.
Higherd a minibus for my communial get together as we do every few years. Can't be asked to use anyone else. I was refered buy my friend and haven't had no probelms, its all cushty and a proper good serice. Thats my experience. Won't use noone else. If its not broken dont fix it.

I can only confirm our experience has been a good one. I hired a van for two days to move house and initially booked via the chat option on their website.
The van was great, it was a large white van, seemed brand new and was an extreme pleasure to drive. It turned up on time and I will use this company again if I need to.

I wasn't sure at 1st whether to book the van with these guys after reading some of the reviews. However when I spoke to the lady at the call centre she was really helpful and made everything sound so easy. Well guess what? It was! I made the booking over the phone and gave my card details it was my brother using the van to help us move. Van arrived on time but only had half a Tank of fuel. Did the job within the day as van was collected the next day, Easy peasy!
Moving is stressful enough as it is, last thing I wanted was anything going wrong. Good experience with Nationwide and I would recommend.

I always use this company to hire trucks for my business and have never had any problems. They asked me to write this review as I am a regular customer of theirs. It's important to me that delivery is always on time, and that's why I use Nationwide when I need a truck. They are much more reliable that other services I have tried before.
I rang through to Nationwide hire after being let down by another company and was very happy with their service compared to the other company, they delivered the van to me within just 4 hours and really went out of their way to help us, the services I received were great and I would highly recommend.
I booked the below vehicle via live chat and telephone and made it clear that I needed to rely on prompt delivery of the vehicle to pick up a group of people at Bristol Airport for 3.30 pm that day. I was assured that the vehicle would be with me on time.
I then phoned around 9 am on 18 June ( the day of the delivery) to again make this point and I was told that the vehicle would definitely be with me either before 2 pm or at 2 pm. No later than that.
I phoned the company at 2.10 pm to raise my concerns that the vehicle still had not arrived and was told that someone would phone me straight back. This did not happen and I rang at least 5 times between 2 and 3.30 pm to check on the whereabouts of the bus.
Twice, the phone was put down on me as soon as I said who I was which I found extremely rude. I received no call back from your office at any point and no apology. When I phoned at 3.30pm I asked to speak to senior management and was then given the number of the bus company based in Cheltenham and had to deal with the issue myself. Again, no phone call or communication from your company at all after to see if things worked out for me.
As a result of being late and having to change plans, the group was let down and we missed out on a prepaid guided tour of Bath that day which I was unable to cancel. This was £150.
In addition, the bus itself was not in no fit state:
1) The back door was damaged inside the hinge broke off which had been badly damaged and badly put back together with the result that we were unable to shut the door properly and had to get this repaired temporarily.
2) The windscreen wiper on the drivers side flew off on the last day when it was raining leaving me to drive the vehicle without proper visibility back to the airport. On examination, all windscreen wipers were not fit for purpose and should have been replaced quite some time ago.
3) We could not use the key fob as the batteries were empty.
I wish I had read the reviews first. As several have said, I hired the van for 24 hours and had it delivered to and picked up from my house. I fully re-fuelled it as requested but a week later they emailed me to say that they had applied an "insufficient fuel" surcharge, 12 litres of diesel at £2.38 per litre including VAT, whereas I on paid £1.19 for the fuel I put in. I challenged this and they stated that their "complaints procedure" allowed them 28 days to investigate. Needless to say, they didn't come back to me so I chased them. They tried to claim it was justified but couldn't give me any details. They finally refunded me the money when I said I would go to the small claims court. It wasn't the money it was the principle. They should have their ability to accept credit cards withdrawn if they abuse the trust of their clients. My Credit Card Company was very helpful.
The van from this Nationwide Hire was in extremely good shape and reliable and it has got me up and down the country several times without fail.
The other companies I tried, their vans were terrible.
Used the company several times. They have been easier to talk to, very efficient in the way they work. Never let me down.
