In October 2022, I flew down to Atlanta from Chicago to attend the Achieve the Dream event. The process leading into the room to be counseled was smooth. It was a wait but it wasn't long once you reached the interview room. Everyone was kind and greeted you upon entry. I was assigned Erna Wilson. She was and is the best. Although I didn't qualify that day, she was precise as to what I needed and became my regular counselor. My trip to the Achieve the Dream was well worth it!

I heard about NACA from a friend. I was so excited to found service like that because buying a house for the first time is so frustrating and hard but NACA have counselor and agent that can help you or show you how to prepare yourself to buy a house you can afford or goes with your budget, they also show how to save and manage your income that is the most important thing. We are still in the process, but so far it's good. We are hoping we will homeowner soon.

This my third time signing up with NACA and I am pleased with the customer service and program in general. However, I will say that the process can be very discouraging especially for an individual that is prepared. I started this program in 2020 before the pandemic hit, and I lost my job and could not continue in the program. I resumed this process in 2022, and though I have had a few challenges with the first counselor assigned to me, I have a new counselor who seems to be very diligent in helping me. Any process such as buying a home can be stressful and overwhelming, but I believe that with the assistance of my counselor, I will be successful in completing the homebuying program, and the entire experience will be well worth it. This does not come without sacrifice, but I believe that when it is all over, I will feel a sense of pride, accomplishment, and joy in being a homeowner. *Courtney Thompson

Home buying is an overwhelming process. By attending the NACA live 2-hour presentation over a year ago we were provided with detailed insight and guidance on the program and the process. During the NACA webinar we learned that the program includes a longer and rigorous mortgage process. As of today, we are still interested and will be moving forward with the counseling phase.

Went through the process and got to the very end of the qualifications then never heard back from my counselor. I had even had to reach out to her manager just to get her to respond. I got a FHA loan with the same interest rate. FYI, it's been 4 months and still no response. I wouldn't recommend NACA unless you want to go through a very long and tedious process just to be ignored.

I started my home buying process on 09/24/2022 and I had my first counselor meeting on January 3rd of this year with Mr. Michael Gompah. My next appointment is on the 10th of January! My Counselor has been very thorough and helpful in answering any questions that I have had, while going through this process. He has also made himself available if needed. I feel confident with the help and support that I have received. My dream of becoming a home owner is about to come true.
I feel very blessed and encouraged that I found NACA and for the great team that they have provided, to help people navigate through the home buying process. NACA homebuyer program is a great tool for people that are at a disadvantage in the housing market.

My opinion of NACA has changes since last year when I was qualified. I was told to my next appointment just incase my qualification expired before I found a home and I did just that. On the day of my appointment, I was told that my counselor was on vacation and that I had to reschedule my appointment! The next appointment was 3-4 months out, which was after the expiration date on my qualification letter. This meant that I was not longer qualified and to pretty much start over. It is now 10 months later and I am still not requalified. I have worked with 4 different counselors. Each counselor works differently and wants the paperwork formatted a certain way or the counselor assigns item on your action plan that you have not previously done before. At this point, I am very frustrated with NACA and this process. Being qualified to be disqualified is very upsetting. I am hoping that I am qualified at my next appointment.

Answer: I decided to go with NACA because they don't consider your credit score and the counselors work with you to become qualified. NACA has made me more diligent with saving money by not spending on wants but needs. This method has strengthen my assets considerably.
