I have nothing to add, - except I probably will mention "My Heritage" to friends, - in positive terms!
I still have to receive my DNA kit, so after that I will write another review. I do hope that MyHeritage will meet my expectations.
My wait was only two minutes after making the selections from the voice menu. I spoke with patrick who listened to my story which began in october (2017) with the purchase of two (2) kits.
One kit was received within 2 weeks - the other, mine, took 6 days more to arrive. It was the same with the dna sampling process. By early november, the first kit had results - 6 days later, mine had failed. They said they would sample my second vial. It took from november 6th, 2017 to january 2nd, 2018 to find out the second vial had failed as well.
They offered to send a new kit which arrived january 14th. I activated it immediately and received an email just as quickly thanking me for activating the kit. I sent my sample on the 16th. I checked my dna tracking every other day to no avail. By february 14th i decided to call and find out the status of my kit.
Patrick explained the delay may have been due to the holidays, with kits purchased as gifts, causing a backlog of kits as well as with samples. He also stated that it is usually within 30 days i should be getting a response to the samples sent. However, if i wished, they would send me yet another kit to begin the process again. Or, i could wait a couple more days for the 30 day window reply. I figured just my luck i jumped the gun by a day or two, so i said okay, i will wait. I would even wait until the end of february, just to be sure. If no contact information regarding my kit was received, i would then call once again for status.
I would have given patrick four (4) stars just for listening to my saga, but a procedure totaling four months does not merit a "cool" rating. We will see...
Very nice customer serv person, elexcelent service, would reccomand him for niceness'. Respect. Very nice company. Would use if i could afford it.
I had cause to use this service recently and was pleasantly surprised to at the speed and compertency my enquiry was delt with.
It was surprising how quickly your representative Ziv Sorek got back to me
And helped me connect. He was very friendly and patient
My son's DNA results said he was a 4th cousin ( and, no we are not some weird family -- other testing companies got it right).
MyHeritage is a wonderful site for obtaining information and growing your Family Tree beyond any expectations you might have.
So far so good when it comes to phone support from this company
Awaiting the DNA results to add more on my reviews
Just received by DNA results, unless my birth certificate is inaccurate or our families are hiding a deep dark secret. Test results indicate that I'm at least 52% Chinese, 20 % Italian, and thats impossible. For that to be accurate one of my parents would have to be 100% Chinese. My mother doesnt have any Chinese and my father is at least 50% Hawaiian, because his mother, my biological grandmother was 100% Hawaiian. We have already confirmed that because a lot of benefits available to Hawaiians are determined by blood quantum. Because benefits are so scarce the officials that manage these programs are very particular and have to be very accurate about blood quantum. The DNA results don't even indicate that we are at least 25% Hawaiian/Polynesian, and I don't want to even mention being Italian, there is no Italians in my family, long lost or not. A micro biologist friend said, that DNA results can vary a lot depending on the type of test you run. Blood DNA is the most accurate. DNA test using saliva can also vary depending on something as innocuous as were the sample was pulled from the swab. So DNA testing in many cases is a crap shoot, unless you have access to blood DNA testing and thats not available to many of us. Our friend (micro-biologist) recommended that of you can afford it, have your siblings tested too and cross test with other DNA testing sites, like Ancestry.com. So for those of you who have already tested with MyHeritage, unless you have other coroborating data to cross reference your results, what you might have may not be accurate. I'll follow-up when I retest with the other sites, so stay tuned.
I lost in treebuilder a lot of data. Thankfull the nice lady of the helpdesk helped me out in my own language. All data returned.
I ORDERED, RECIEVED MY KIT AND SENT BACK AND THAT WAS THE LAST I HEARD DESPITE HUNDREDS OF MESSAGES SENT AND PHONE CALLS MADE. DISPICABLE, JUST DISPICABLE.

My Heritage- POOREST SERVICE EVER!
We ordered our DNA Kit in March this year. The kit arrived mid-April. We did the registration and returned the samples the following day! The kit arrived a couple of days later in the USA via UPS express. We requested and paid extra for the package to be delivered directly to the address provided by MyHeritage! They then refused to accept the package and send it back saying that someone will collect the package from UPS directly! We contact MyHeritage and they say that they do not provide such services! They then ask us to contact UPS and ask them to deliver the package, UPS again attempted to deliver the package! AGAIN, MyHeritage refused the package! We then had to contact the warehouse in our country, they contacted UPS USA and instructed them again to deliver to MyHeritage. In the meantime, we've been in contact with Claudia from MyHeritage, she totally ignores our questions and keeps telling us about "We can resend you a new DNA-kit" WHY WOULD WE WANT A NEW KIT IF WE'VE JUST RETURNED THE SAMPLES! ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS ACCEPT THE PACKAGE FROM UPS! It has been over a month that we've been sent back and forth WITH NO PROGRESS! IT BLOWS MY MIND THAT A SIMPLE INSTRUCTION CAN'T BE EXCECUTED! It is highly unprofessional and frustrating! It is taking the joy out of what was supposed to be an exciting experience and discovery! Very disappointed with the poor customer service and ignorance from Myheritage staff!

Ive been on My Heritage for a number of years. I didnt really know what I was doing when I set up the family trees, and ended up with 3 websites and 3 family trees, at least two of which were mostly duplicate profiles.
I recently discovered that my updates were not syncing to the sites, which was unfortunate since there had been a number of recent deaths in my family, and family members were getting cheery birthday and anniversary reminders for people who had died. Try as I might, I couldnt manage to update the files. In fact, I seemed to add sites every time I tried to consolidate them, and it just kept getting messier. I even upgraded to premium in order to be able to call customer service, but for some reason the customer service number of *******135 can no longer be reached from Canada.
Today, Shimon from the Tel Aviv customer service centre called me and helped me to fix all the problems. Overall, we likely spent 90 minutes or more on the telephone, and he helped me to understand the difference between projects on Family Tree Builder and family trees on My Heritage. He walked me through the process of updating the projects on Family Tree Builder, deleting the 3 websites, and then uploading the two family trees I wanted onto one website. He also showed me how to eliminate duplicates profiles. He called me back three times, giving me time to review the trees and make sure I wasnt deleting anything I needed, and he checked back to make sure everything was working. Id definitely give the customer service for MyHeritage.com 5 stars, but Id like to see them add a telephone number that can be reached from Canada.

Answer: My issue was the automatic renewal without any kind of courtesy reminder prior to the effective date, as other businesses do. Advising one year in advance is a poor business practice. When I contacted them immediately on the renewal effective date, they refused to cancel and offered me a 25% discount. They eventually gave me the full refund but it was due to me turning it over to AMEX to resolve. I do however agree with the advice to base your renewal on your own personal experience.
Answer: You can find your site subscriptions via MyHeritage homepage - pull-down menu on the right upper corner button "Settings". Then click on "My purchases", and button "Site subscriptions". Click "View details". The details contain section "Cancel subscription". Maybe you can get advice by mail from MyHeritage support team (support@myheritage.com).
Answer: If you are looking to get as many connections to your tree that you can, use My Heritage. If you want flexibility in who is added to your tree, use Ancestry.
Answer: Dear Jonathan and fellow users, In regards to the FTB not working, I may have found a solution, please follow these directions. Please right click on the FTB icon on your desktop, and click on 'Properties': Once you have opened the 'Properties' menu then click on the 'Compatibility' tab: If the field "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" is checked, and it says below "Windows 7", uncheck the box. Please let me know if this has solved the issue. Should this not work for you then please get in touch with the support team at support@myheritage.com from your registered MyHeritage email address and a friendly representative will help you at the first available moment. Kind Regards, Dean, MyHeritage Team.
Answer: Probbably you should like to know what are additional charges - described on MyHeritage site: Help Center > Account and Subscriptions > Subscriptions Whats the difference between a FAMILY SITE SUBSCRIPTION and a DATA SUBSCRIPTION? Answer: I believe a direct ancestor is someone without whom you would not be here. All your other ancestors are indirect.

Hi Timothy,
I'm sorry to read the bad review have given Myheritage.
While your friend may have very good insight on DNA testing, i'd like to give you more information on how it is done at Myheritage.
As you may already realize, testing and comparing your DNA are two different things. To estimate your ancestral ethnicity, MyHeritage compares your DNA with people around the globe whose genetic ethnicity is known. We call these people the Founder Populations.
Currently our genetic models are based on 42 ethnic groups around the world. But this will improve thanks to our Founder Population project, the largest study of this kind ever conducted.
More than 5000 participants have been handpicked to serve as references for this project by virtue of their family trees exemplifying consistent ancestry from the same region or ethnicity for many generations.
The results of these tests will yield a rich DNA data set. As you most likely understand already, bio-geographical estimates are complex.
It is true that different companies analyzing the DNA of the same person in different ways can come up with different Ethnicity Estimates based on various factors, such as the reference populations used for comparison and the algorithms used. With the MyHeritage test, as with some other autosomal tests, we cover about 700,000 SNPs.
However, this does not mean that each test necessarily covers the exact same SNPs, therefore, there can be a very slight difference of chemical nature and processing of algorithms with different companies.
In regards to testing, while there are pros and cons to both swab and blood tests and it is truly your decision. The bottom line is that most people get a similar result from both. This can be verified on various forums.
In my opinion, Swab tests from buccal epithelial cells (cheek cells) seem to be easier to extract, quicker, painless and more affordable than a blood sample.
We appreciate all of your feedback and wish you all the best in your research.
Kind Regards
Rafael
