MyBuilder

I have used mybuilder.com several times now, and I have been completely satisfied with the quality of the workmanship, all the guys that I have employed have been courteous and on time, and I would not hesitate to use the site again if I were to need an expert.

As a trademan, I have used MyBuilder for some time. That however has now come to an end due to their RIDICULOUS trading practises. Example:- I was invited to quote for a kitchen. This means the "Customer" found and invited me. Mybuilder then charged me £26.40 to accept the invite. Following this, the customer will not answer their telephone, has not read the messages I sent via MyBuilder, and has not responded to my text.

According to MyBuilder, this constitutes a "valid lead" and there is no recourse for a refund - in fact a flat refusal and standard response letter. This scenario has happened many times.

It is my belief that a lot of leads are completely fictional and there is no way to determine this before the event.

My advice to any traders is STAY AWAY unless you wish to literally give your money away

My Builder has been a godsend for us! We were having huge amounts of hassle even to get workmen round to quote for jobs and then we discovered the site. Problem solved! I have now posted 3 jobs and the tradesmen I selected have all been local, professional, reliable and good at what they do. We will be using them again but will also continue with My Builder for any new types of work as the reviews give you the reassurance that you are selecting trustworthy companies. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SITE! Well done and thank you.

I've now posted three jobs on mybuilder 1plastering and 2 electric. Have been pleased with the response from the various tradesmen that have got in touch. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend the plasterer and the second electrician they both did very good jobs. Wasn't particularly happy with the first electrician his work was safe enough but I wasn't happy with the way he left part of the job. So make sure you read the feedback from other customers.

I used My builder to find a builder well what a load of cowboys my wife and i were ripped of for £6.5 thousand by Complete Property Services from Tiverton Devon his name was Dave Carpenter. Most of the work was done by a complete idiot who couldnt build a straight line if his life depended on it. Dave Carpenter was rude to my wife in the end we were glad to get rid of the firm. I recently used My Builder to find a plasterer, an electrician and a decorator. In all cases, I received replies to my post very quickly from companies I subsequently hired to do the work in my home. Using the My Builder website meant that I could read reviews of these companies before I asked them to do the wiek. The website also kept me up to date at all stages of the process. I was happy with the service and would recommend My Builder to anyone looking to hire tradespeople.

Well where do I start. I called Woodward&sons out because we had a leak coming in to my daughter's bedroom They was very fast in responding and Coming out to solve the problem we had. Very polite and Great communication and all work was in my budget would definitely Recommend Woodward&sons

As a tradesman, this site is shocking. You are charged for every shortlist that the *potential* customer makes. The reason I say potential is that a lot of them dont ever answer the phone when you call them, and you end up paying lots of money for nothing. Please do not use this, or rated people - much the same scammy service as this. Instead, find good tradespeople through recommendations and google. You are simply fueling this awful service. Even as a customer, you are likely to find chancers and individuals who claim to be experts in their trade, but are actually fakes and only want to rip you off. Proceed with caution.

I made the mistake of not reading a message from a tradesperson and asking for his number. When I talked to the tradesperson he told me to F off as I had not read his message thereby him having to pay My Builder more money., I made a simple mistake but still deserve to be treated with respect. I reported this to My Builder and they did NOTHING. Indeed, they removed my negative comment regarding the tradesmen which I left to protect other customers. What does this tell you about My Builder?

I live in London and used MyBuilder to engage AW Roofing & Building, a Bramhall, Stockport handyman to cure a leak in a small Reddish shop. He diagnosed a hole in a small roof as the problem and charged £150 to stick a 5" square of Flashband on it. It still leaked, from a radiator in an upstairs flat. He refused to meet me on site, said the continued leak was 'not my problem' and became hostile and aggressive when I put a negative review on MyBuilder. Their CEO said he won't telephone him as he telephoned me because AW has so many positive reviews. He said putting the negative review on their site has reduced my options. Caveat Emptor.
