Forced into paying $50 for a year subscription and acted as if they were the good guys for agreeing to refund half of it back on the very day they charged me
Free trial is a scam. If you've already made the mistake of signing up the law is on your side. They gave me a full refund only when I threatened immediate action.
Hello Ron, Thank you for your feedback. It seems that you have clicked the "special offer" option and selected a plan without a trial. Since a subscription with a free trial period is preselected, if you wish to obtain a subscription without a trial but with a discount, you need to click on the "special offer" button. Yes, some of our subscription plans do not include a free trial period. This information is indicated in the descriptions of these plans and at the final confirmation of your subscription choice, where you also authorize the purchase or the free trial, depending on the option you have selected.
I deleted my account in error but was rectified quickly by the support staff. Can't ask for more! I totally am opposite to other reviews but can only describe my good experience.
I know for a fact I turned off my auto renew and somehow it STILL MANAGED TO CHARGE ME. And echoing many of the experiences of others, they will not honor a full refund even though I emailed them within hours of being charged. It's a disgusting, shady practice with a disrespectful customer service team. Stay away. Stay far far away.
I subscribed to their free 7 day trial. After using it and realizing I didn't want the subscription I went to settings to cancel my subscription (the offer said you can cancel anytime). The settings page doesn't have a cancel option and says "YOUR ACCOUNT IS STILL SETTING UP. Usually we need no more than an hour to set it up". Problem is that it has been well over an hour and after doing some research this is a way they trick people into taking their money by taking advantage of people who forget to cancel their free subscription and instead of offering a full refund they offer a small percentage or discount on other subscriptions. This is a shady way of doing business and I would avoid them even if I wanted their products.
Hello Trevor, Thank you for your feedback. If you encounter any issues with canceling your subscription, you can always write to support@musescore.com and request a cancellation. We respond within 24 hours. Yes, our refund policy does not imply a full refund due to licensing agreements https://musescore.com/legal/terms. However, you can always receive the maximum refund amount by requesting a return option according to our Terms of Service.
This company is a scam. I tried signing up for a free trial (by clicking the big "free trial" button on their website) and they charged me immediately after signing up. I get text alerts from my bank whenever my card is charged so I knew right away and contacted customer service. They did respond quickly, but said that instead of signing up for the free trial, I chose the "instant" plan that has no free trial. This was not at all clear to me and I wish I had looked up reviews before doing anything. It's clear from these other reviews that they intentionally mislead customers to steal from them. Do NOT sign up for the free trial at all. If you decide to pay for a subscription, keep a close eye on how much they charge because I wouldn't trust them at all. I sent persistent emails to get a refund and they eventually gave me $30 back out of the $40 they stole from me. An honest company would issue a full refund in good faith and hope that their service is good enough that I'd decide to become a long-term customer after the trial period. Instead I'm spreading the word and reporting them to the SEC - their business practice is to scam.

I GOT CHARGED $71.08 for a one-year subscription to a sheet music site that I DID NOT sign up for. I emailed them but kept getting an automated response back. THE COMPANY'S REVIEWS ALL READ THE SAME WITH A RATING OF 'BAD'. MUSE SCORE IS A SCAM TO DRAW MONEY OUT OF YOUR BANK ACCOUNT WITH NO RECOURSE. I GOT NOTHING IN RETURN EVEN IN THE WAY OF EVEN HALF DECENT SHEET MUSIC I COULD PLAY.
Hi, thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear you had such a frustrating experience, but we really appreciate you bringing this issue to our attention. May I ask you to contact us via support@musescore.com mentioning this review? I'll inform the support team about your issue and they'll try to do their best to find the best solution for you.
When you go to the website, they advertise a sale subscription for $39. Then quietly charge your credit card for $59.
Thankfully, my bank declined the purchase. They are SCAMMERS.
Hello Ken, Thank you for your feedback. The reason you were charged for the plan for $59.99 instead of the $39 plan is that you signed up for a free trial with the $59.99 plan. The $39 plan does not include a free trial period. It appears that you selected a different plan than you intended, which is why there is a difference in price.
Dark UI encouraged me to "learn more" about an annual subscription discount when cancelling my free trial, company charged me for annual subscription and refused refunds
Hello Flippant, We apologize for the inconvenience caused. You can always request a refund here https://musescore.com/contact-refund, but according to our refund policy https://musescore.com/legal/terms. Refund for an annual subscription is possible within 14 days after purchase.
I find musescore appalling based on my experience. My daughter (16 yo) had subscribed for a free trial, downloaded some sheets and wasn't able to cancel rigth away. Year later, without a warning, they charge for about 140 dollars, a year's subscription. When i start sorting this out they offer the same process as for others, 30% discount or another year of musescore for the same price. Discusting how they have invested in IT to automize the process of offering this "great deal". Trust me people, they make a lot of money by charging people who don't want their service at all. It left a bad taste, even if what seemed like a some miraculous accident i was anle to get ny money bsck. Stay away from this business, as it is clearly shady.

THIS SITE WILL RANDOMLY CHARGE YOU WITH BILLS. It is a SCAM.
I subscribed for a free 7-Day trial and got charged USD29.99 on my first day within the trial period.
I did contact the customer service but did not get any answer/refund.
Report to *******@paypal.com about being misled to opting out of a free trial and instead of paying for an annual subscription. Also note that this is not a one off situation, but rather has been happening to over 100 other users on other verification websites. Let them know about their abuse of natural human assumptions in order to unknowingly take your payment. No where does it say that after clicking on the Start your Free Trial that you opt out of the Free Trial. They then have a front man called Jojo to explain that it is all your fault for not reading the fine print, whereinfact there is no fine print. He also says it clearly states there is NO FREE TRIAL in the purchasing process. But this is false. Everyone assumed they are still opted in for it, when they are not. Then the refund process is also really scammy. I opened and closed a dispute with PayPal on 10/12(I confirmed with Paypal), but they reply back to me on 10/14 that my dispute was still open so they cannot process my refund under their Terms of Service on section 4.1. False. They lied. They prey on human assumptions and profit off of people's 'mistakes' they intentionally designed for people to fall into. Unethical business.
They charged me for an annual subscription of $69.99 after I had cancelled a free trial.
My email to them: "However, how do I know you are acting in good faith with the cancellation system you have? Your last communication to me was on Oct 12 when I started the trial. On that same day, I attempted to cancel the subscription after downloading one piece of music. I thought I had cancelled it, and trusted you to do so, therefore I was not watching to see if you would charge me again. Then, on Oct 19 you did charge me again – but you did NOT notify me of the charge at that time.
How am I supposed to comply with a 14 day refund policy when I do not even expect or know that there was a $69 charge in the first place?
I hope you can see from this experience why I would question whether you are acting in good faith. If you had a one time fee per sheet or month access to music, you would have received the compensation that was commensurate with the one piece of music I wanted and downloaded. Because you only offer an annual subscription and you do not notify when you make that annual charge, you are operating a system that preys upon the fact that people have a hard time tracking the confirmation of a failed cancellation and a large charge a week later."
When clicking "start free trial, " you are funneled to a discount page with no explanation that you forego the free trial by accepting the discount. It's called a "dark pattern" in web design
Musescore.com is a $#*!ing scam, they make money with your transcriptions. Shame on these guys! First time and last time i try this service! They charged me every week not every month as they said!
Hello David, Thanks for your feedback. We always charge for the exact plan that the subscription was made for. The type of plan cannot be changed on our end. Please check your email. There you will find receipts as well as a letter with information about the type, period, and price of the subscription. We send letters with this information right from the moment the subscription is made. You can cancel it at any time if you accidentally subscribed to a different plan than you intended.
This is one of those sites that sneakily gets you to sign up but doesn't let you know you will be charged automatically a year later. I detest this sort of business. Bad form Musescore.
They have one of the rudest customer services I've encountered. Like many others here, I signed up for the free trial. My free trial was set to expire on December 7th, 2021. I woke up this morning, December 7th, 2021 at 6:30 AM, and surprise there was a charge for a full year subscription. I quickly went on and cancelled my subscription on their website but that did not refund me. So, I emailed them to tell them I want to get a refund. After a few automated emails, I got a self-righteous response from someone in customer service who was acting as if they'd notified me so many times and that it is my fault for not cancelling on time and that they can only give me 35% or give me 10 extra months of subscription.
This felt like a scam and an attempt to manipulate me. I told them no I want a full refund. After that, she responded they cannot give me a full refund. I emailed and said I will file a complaint with BBB and also leave a negative review.
This was followed by an email saying that I did not read their term of service which says they can refund me $60 out of $69.99 and I will get one month of service. This was all after telling me they cannot refund me more than 35%. I finally said thank you give me my $60 and I am still writing a negative review on here and on other websites.
The website on its own is useful but the shady business practice and the horrible customer support is treacherous.
I filed through paypal to have my money refunded. When I was signing up I was told it was a free trial. Got charged instantly. Filed a case through paypal. Multiple users have had this same problem.
Hello Autumn, Thank you for your feedback. We do offer a free trial nonetheless. The only thing is, if you click on the "Special offer", you will be redirected to a different subscription plan, which does not include a free trial period (this info is included in the plan description), but this special plan does come with a significant discount.
An awful website. Do not give them your credit card information. They make money solely off of the poor folks who forget to cancel subscriptions and nothing else. They are charging money for user-submitted content. The users who create the sheet music make no money. The company is very difficult to contact and overall shady. DO NOT BUY A SUBSCRIPTION TO THE MUSESCORE SERVICE.
Hello Maisah, thank you for the feedback.
Our app is available in two versions: free and paid. We do not force our users to take subscriptions, each of them can use a basic (free of charge) account and download Public Domain and Original scores for free. Copyrighted content is available only for Pro subscribers since we have to pay royalties to give access to this type of content.
If you still have any questions or need our help, please contact us via support@musescore.com mentioning this review, we'd be happy to help you out or reconsider your case.
Have a good one!
It was partially my fault for not rremembering to cancel the free trial after i had brought musescore to get some sheet music that i needed for school, but they only offer 35% of a refund for me to get my money back. That isnt that much money. It's 70NZD for me, and thats super expensive. I didnt get any warning about the payment, only the confirmation email after they took my money. Please help. These reviews scare the hell out of me, because apparantly they stop replying to you after you expain why you need the refund. Please consider giving me a full refund. I dont want 10 months premium, i dont even use it anymore.
Answer: You can contact MuseScore Customer Service at support@musescore.com. They will reply to you within 24 hours or faster.
Musescore.com has a rating of 1.6 stars from 233 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Musescore.com most frequently mention free trial, credit card and customer service. Musescore.com ranks 107th among Instrument sites.
Hi Mike, thanks for the review. You've started a trial subscription and forgot to cancel it before the deadline, that's why you got charged. I suppose you were offered a partial refund with 12-months access to the service but as far as I understand, you have no need in our premium features. According to this, you can contact the support manager again and tell him/her that you are not satisfied with the amount of the issued refund and he/she will reconsider it.
