Charged before end of free trial and no refund!

Beware! Beware! I signed up for a 7 day free trial and the day before my trial ended I was charged a full year subscription and they did not have phone support to talk to anyone only email. By email I was told I signed and was aware and I did not meet my end. I cancelled one day before trial ended and got charged the day before the trial ended. So I signed up Dec. 21st and it said I had until December 28th to cancel. I was charged a full year on December 27th in which I cancelled that day. I took a screen shot of my screen showing that I was charged December 28th ( on their billing history page) but the day I was charged and the day I cancelled was December 27th! Makes no sense and I feel they are tricking people to pay for a full year when you are close to the end of their trial period. TOTALLY WRONG! Even if their site was totally amazing( which I did not think so) I would never want to do business with anyone who is dishonest and tricking/ scamming people like that! I will be fighting this.
So unless you are sure you want this ahead of the free trial don't signup for the free trial or you may get charged before trail ends and they won't want to give you a refund!

Hello Bonny. I was able to find your original request. So I can provide some more details. I can see that you've started 7-days free trial on 2022-12-21 00:13:54 (UTC).
So the end of the free trial period was on 2022-12-28 00:14 (UTC). You did cancel only on 2022-12-28 01:53:18(UTC). So you didn't cancel free trial before the end. Thus you were charged. In any case, we have provided a refund despite there being no error on our part.

This is a scam.

I signed up for a seven day free trial and authorised the £0 charge in my banking app as you usually get with free trials, only for it then to immediately take the full subscription cost.

When I contacted customer services they quickly replied to tell me there were multiple subscription/trial options and I'd chosen the wrong one, but they were very kindly prepared to either give me a 25% discount or some months free.

For a moment I doubted myself, until I got suspicious enough to check here and see so many other people complaining about being shaken down like this. I'm absolutely not having it. As I replied to customer services, I never sign up for a subscription without a free trial first to make sure it's something that'll actually be useful to me. I KNOW I didn't sign up for the paid version as they're claiming. The speed of their original response and the number of identical complaints here proves it.

I told customer services the two options they offered were no good to me and I wanted a full refund. Unsurprisingly, their response to this hasn't come as quickly as their response trying to gaslight me into believing I'd made a mistake when I know I did not.

This is a dishonest company clearly making money from this bait & switch and hoping people will accept the "explanation" that they didn't properly read what they were signing up for. Avoid at all costs.

If I receive my full refund I will update this review. If not, I'll begin the chargeback process with my bank and report this company as a scam. I just hope people check here in the future before trying to get the free trial.

Attached: the email I was sent very shortly after my refund request. The fact that they have this reply ready to send complete with handy clickable buttons to their "solutions" is proof to me that the whole setup is deliberate. Combine that with the number of identical complaints on here, Trustpilot, and similar sites, it looks extremely bad for them. I will of course be happy to be proven wrong and retract my comments if/when I get my full refund. Until then, I can only assume this company is behaving fraudulently.

Credit card info was never submitting, the website is constantly laggy and difficult to navigate, annoying in-your-face self-sponsering of musescore PRO. Overall bad experience

I thought I was signing up for a free trial and realized after I had submitted my card, they charged me for an annual subscription. Within minutes I contacted customer service to ask if there was a possibility for a refund. They refunded me 30.00 of 40.00 the next day. They explained that I didn't meet the criteria to receive a full refund, which in section 4.1, bullet #3 of their policy, I do meet the requirements because it was based on my "usage" that they would deem how much of a refund I would receive. I explained to "George from MuseScore" that I was indeed subjected to a full refund because I didn't use the subscription and realized within minutes that I was charged for a subscription that I did want. They haven't refunded the $10 I'm owed. I was tricked when signing up because they have ALL these pop up windows that make it seem like you're signing up for the free trial, but in fact, they confuse you so you click on signing up annually. DO NOT USE MUSESCORE. THEY ARE SHADY AND HAVE TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY WILL NOT WORK WITH YOU. I never leave bad reviews but this one deserves it.

Free trial scam

**UPDATE — Musescore has refunded my payment in full. Overall the process only took 3-4 days to get the issue resolved, which is good. I'm still uncomfortable with the way the registration process went down, but they've said they're reviewing and improving it. It was frustrating and off putting to be initially be offered a partial refund, which is what made it feel scammy. But I'm pleased they've refunded in full at this point.**

Like many others, I was misled in the registration process. I intended to utilize the 7 day free trial and was immediately charged $40 for an annual subscription. I went through the refund request process which is really more of a reverse sales pitch process, triggering a "special offer" where I get the privilege of choosing to receive 6 additional months for free or a 25% discount. This is their business model apparently, swindle and mislead people into a subscription with an elusive free trial and when they complain, offer a modest discount in place of a refund. On lots of reviews like mine, musescore staff are replying to explain that the $40 tier doesn't have a trial because it's such a great deal as a heavily discounted rate. They fail to see, no one cares. They're flooded with negative reviews by people who were only attracted to their service by the words "7 day free trial", who were then immediately gouged for $40 and who are now being told, "because it's such a great deal". It's irrelevant how good a discount $40 is and it's severely out of touch for "customer service" to hop on here and explain the absurdity of their different subscription tiers in the comments instead of just doing integrity and refunding where they've misled.

So Unethical

This ended up being a great lesson for our daughter. She has a debit/MC card and she works to load her own money into it. She now understands that free trials can be a scam. She emailed them the same day she saw the $180 charge hit her account.

Here is a copy of my daughter's email to Musescore: "I'm 14 years old and my name is____. I signed up for a free trial of muse score. I didn't cancel it before the free trial was over so I payed $179.99 for MuseScore PRO for a year. I didn't know I was going to be paying as much as I did. I didn't know I payed that much within 14 days of paying so I didn't end up cancelling within 14 days, and I understand that's the policy. I've made a big mistake and ended up upsetting my parents in the process. I'm wondering if there's a way an exception could be made and I can get my money back?"

I've worked in customer service for years. As an act of goodwill, I would have refunded this child. Here's their response with this laughable phrase about them going to their "head office" to get clearance for a less than generous offer:

An additional 10 months for a service she found she didn't need after a week? Or a $60 refund on $180 service?

In the end, she got an eye opening lesson that will save her maybe thousands of dollars in the future and she won't fall for "free trials" again, so it's a silver lining. However, this company gets nothing more from us ever again, except a rare, heartily negative review. (I just realized she signed up for the LEARN service, but learned something entirely different!;-))

Is MuseScore running on buggy Ai now or what? I noticed that somehow Ai has been associating "Shakira" with my score called "Whenever (It Happens)"to look like I did not compose this piece, or only arranged sheet music based on theirs, but this is 100% my intellectual property and has nothing to do with Shakira's score by the similar name, I have no association to that person, and I use a pseudonym due to a harsh Ukrainian father who was mentally ill and while alive, he wouldn't let me use my real name on the internet so I published all my creative projects under the name Aralia Fresia and now I am being belittled and downplayed as a serious composer, with labels like Easy or Beginner, when I spent hours and hours composing this only for this Shakira baloney to be trying to claim mine is "based on Shakira's" and I have no idea if it was Ai that did that or Shakira but it's really annoying because I am not a Shakira fan and never heard any of her/his music. This is my musical composition, and no one else should be claiming even partial credit for my work here.
