User Honest2Goodness has Canon equipment for sale with pictures of Canon items and the description say it's manufactured my Canon, but it's not, it's made by Meike and sell for a lot less than he's asking for it. When I asked him about this he thinks it's perfectly fine to represent OEM Canon products with fake knockoffs because they work with Canon cameras. Mercari has too many of these scam sellers. I would not use Mercari to purchase anything.
5 days ago I received a ceiling light I had purchased, advertised as 'new'. It came without any of the parts necessary to mount it to the ceiling. So I reached out immediately. Support asked for photos and a detailed description (it wasn't very complicated -the initial message covered it) so I took and sent two photos that showed clearly the one and only item I received with a detailed description of the problem. They responded that they wanted more photos. I didn't see their message for 24 hours so they closed the case, finalized the order, and made it impossible for me to get a return or even post a review on their site. They automatically gave the seller a 5 star rating on my behalf apparently. How could they go and close a case like that? They basically said "sorry, you didn't send us enough pics within 24 hrs so we're not going to help you in any way." Unbelievable. And now, just 5 days after receiving the item I cannot return it; I'll just throw it in the trash because it is unusable without it's proprietary mounting hardware. I can't believe this kind of business practice is happening in 2023.

GUYS, DON'T FORGET TO LEAVE A BAD REVIEW IN THE APP STORE. THEY CURRENTLY HAVE A FOUR AND A HALF STAR RATING! Absolute horrible app. They took about $80 from me. They randomly delete my listings and will send me a notification that they deleted something but not state a reason why, they just write that it violates their rules. They've sent me infringement notices that threatened me with legal action and the deletion of my account because they suspected me to be using copyrighted photos when actually they were my photos and they just made an assumption based on the high quality of the photos. It's also impossible to get in touch with anyone from customer service. It's all just Q&A. Their website says to contact them through the app but on the app there is no where to contact them. What kind of buying and selling app doesn't have a phone number or email address?
I have been having lots of issues with the app, first it's been telling me "Purchase not allowed in your region" I emailed Mercari - they closed the issue with NO RESOLUTION. I emailed them again asking why it was closed when nothing was done.
Note I try to log in and it says my email or password is invalid so I reset my password - and it's still saying it. So ummmmm did Mercari cancel my account or something. Delete and uninstall.

This site is a joke the highes fees ever bad customers service and they should be shotdown they did not care about the customer and seelers all they care is to make money they are ripping people off i would never recomend to no one.
They deleted me for no reason with no chance to explain. I have spent lots of money using this app. Then boom. Deleted. Its is crazy and I can't get in touch with a real person.
Will NEVER USE MERCARI selling app again. Last week I purchased a birthday gift off of it- some relatively expensive shoes she picked out herself. We paid, the seller (claims) shipped the package 2 days later (the next day after was a holiday so no USPS services). Thursday last week, the app said that the package had been delivered, the tracking number said it had been delivered, but no sign of the package. The app literally says "sometimes the package comes 2-3 days after a delivery notification, so please wait 24-48 hours after you delivery notification to file a claim". I waited 3 more days and continued to look in the mailbox, front porch (where app said it was placed), "around the property" and by the garage. No luck. Anyway today I contacted them and let them know what happened. The pathetic reply I got was "Well since the app says it has been delivered, we must release the funds to the seller, and we may only give you a refund in store credit- that you must use within 30 days. We suggest that you reach out to your courier to locate your package".
This is ridiculous. I would never recommend using this app, or buying from this site. Not only is this wasting time and money, my sister did not get the birthday gift she wanted from me.
Before buying I already confirmed with seller about authentic item seller confirmed, but still got Fake Item and Mercari never help shoppers for problems i lot a lot of money with it, when submitted report Mercari just automatic reply entitle can't do anything for us.

I just tried to purchase a watch. They first charge me $1.67 to verify my account? I have never seen this before, but I was okay with it. After verification, I went ahead to purchase the watch. They completed my order and deducted the money from my account. I thought I was all set. A few minutes later I received this email "This transaction was cancelled because we were unable to verify that the item was still available. We've issued you a refund in the original form of payment. In the interest of keeping the Mercari marketplace secure, it is our policy to cancel transactions and suspend accounts that show signs of unusual payment activity. Therefore, we have decided to revoke your user privileges and remove you from our marketplace." Now, I was just trying to buy a watch. First they say everything is ok and then they cancel the transaction, refund the money for the watch and deactivate my account? Why? They didn't even refund $1.67, verification charges. I would not advertise anybody to buy anything from this website.
My sister has an account, she asked me if I could purchase something for her with my credit card as a gift for her and I did.
I had never heard of Mercari and she had explained the app to me and showed me how it works.
After looking through it I decided to open amup my own account as well in case I saw something I wanter to purchased from myself later on.
After having the app for a few days I was interested in a few items I wanted to purchase. As I was entering my Credit card information it gave me an error message stating that my card was associated with another account. I had asked my sister if she had deleted my information and she had.
After reaching out to help support they told me I can only use my card with one account and thats it!
Basically once I use my card at anytime it will forever be associated with that account.
RIDICULOUS!

My Goodness, Please be careful when making purchases here. We bought a toe kick heater, installed it 1 week after receiving it, as our bathroom is being remodeled. We couldn't access the old heater. Anyway after installation, it ran 2-3 min then BLEW UP and caught fire! Smoke came rushing out then fire. I immediately went online an asked for refund. First Seller states we installed incorrectly, refused refund. Then Mercari Help stated we only had 72 hrs to request a refund! WOW we installed it 7 days after. SO THEY WON"T STAND BEHIND THE ITEMS BEING SOLD. I lost our funds. NOT HAPPY! I am not sure that is legal to only offer 72 hrs...but just BEWARE...Find somewhere else to purchase things!
I am a full time ebay seller and use many other known platforms as well. I have 55 sales with Mercari and all my reviews are 5 stars with great feedback. Two days ago i get an email stating my account was closed with no warning or any details on why. I had to email 3 times and demand a reason why. They stated I sold multiple non authentic items, but when i asked for proof they told me I did not have a serial number in a photo. I have a wholesale permit thus buy pallets of items from large know stores and suppliers thus the items are authentic and confirmed. I have explained this over and over and they refuse to respond or work with me. As well they have put my account on hold and refuse to let me get my balance for my last few sales which the customers have received the items. The items they refuse to pay me for are not even the items that were in question thus have no relation to the accusations. I as well found pages and pages of the same product being sold with no serial number so it seems they are targeting random accounts. A normal company would just say, please add the serial number to your photos and move on. To sum it up, it does not matter if you are a business with a license, reseller permit, authentic items from large know suppliers, they will still shut you account down and steal your money for items that customers already have. It is truly a scam. It is very scary they are able to operate like this and not held accountable for unethical practices. Stay Away
I went to Mercari.com, and I was nauseated to see what is clearly PRICE GOUGING BY NUMEROUS VENDORS OF ESSENTIAL ITEMS, like toilet paper and antibacterial wipes. If you are to report each of the vendors, you would spend well over an hour reporting each vendor, since the company makes it impossible to simply email them a letter telling them to review their own poorly run website. So, the company is not even monitoring their poorly run website to remove price gougers. I see that they don't have any formal regulations aimed at price gougers during this challenging period in our country. Needless to say, this price gouging is unfair to the working class consumer who is suffering the shortages on the local level, while Mercari and the price gougers enrich themselves to the detriment of the community. Disgusting!

I recently made a purchase through Mercari. Unfortunately, the product did not match description. When I went to return/refund the item, I was notified the Seller had been "automatically" rated, which had closed the transaction. Meaning I was no longer eligible to return the item. I was also informed this is a site wide policy, nothing to do with individual sellers.
If this site policy is that you have 3 days to receive, inspect and rate the seller or you lose any ability to return or refund your purchase, they should make that policy known upfront. Either on their log in page where you make an account or at the checkout. Especially in the competitive online consumer market, such a small window for any refund or return is major negative for this site.
I gave 2 stars vs 1 only because they sent 2 separate emails with the link to their policy... which is clear once you have already decided to do a return. Unfortunately, if you were not on it within 3 days... it won't matter.
I will not use again and would not suggest it to any others.
Worst site ever! Jus had my account removed! As I maid complaints that I wasntgetting my items and I lost out on money! Then I was accused of doing things I didnt and I had maid complaints that I had not received the items but the sellers where paid eney way! Do not go hear!
