If you don't get your mail everyday, you can easily miss the 3 day llimit to file for a return even if the item is very much not as described or a mess of rubble. For we older and condo livers who don't get dressed and go down to get the mail everyday you had better be counting the days accurately or you will end up up paying regardless of what you received. I even got stuck when Mercari emailed me a 3 day notice whwen I had only 2 days to file. I am taking this email to my bank to file a claim for a refund
I bought from them 2x Panasonic Lumix camera, in october 2018 and jan. 2019-Delivery was without problems-free shipping, and item without defect. Also phone call service to them was answered with courtesy and desire to help. I strongly recommend them to all who hesitate to deal with them
I just learned a $725 lesson. Sold to a shady buyer who damaged my Louis Vuitton and claimed it was damaged when she got it. LIES. Mercari does not ask you anything before they allow a return. There is no way to verify a buyer before the sale. You are NOT PROTECTED and there is no way to file a claim ANYWHERE. They absolutely do not care. I have been a FIVE-STAR member for 6 years. Sold over $12,000 of mostly handbags and they DO NOT CARE! They also don't care when it comes to asking for a refund. Super BAD app. Worst experience ever.
First of all, I have made some sells on mercari. All 5 star ratings. Then suddenly I received a message saying my account is closed due to I have multiple accounts. I only have one account, not sure how they come up with that, then they need to verify my identity again which I already did when I signed up the account. Whatever then I verified my identity, the next day I received a message saying I violated their policy sold non authentic items... omg... that's more frustrating, because everything I have sold are Authentic and buyers gave me 5 stars review. So they decided to close my account and hold my money for ridiculous nonsense reasons they made up! I mean, seriously? I have over $600 in my account and I have to wait 90 days to receive it. To whoever want to buy or sell on Mercari, BE CAREFUL! They will "steal" your money and give you some nonsense reasons, the call center no one can handle this problem, contacted the mercari on Facebook, no one can help either, you can only deal with people that through the App, Email them and wait a day to get back with you, it's BS! Save your time, money and energy sell or buy at somewhere else. I am not gonna let it go, I have talked to attorney general in my state, and we will go from there.
I sold an antique Gucci Watch on Mercari.com for $220. The item was carefully packed and shipped on 5/1 via UPS. The buyer stated that the package was received opened and only containing my thank you note, but no watch. I asked him to file a report with UPS, which he did not, and I notified Mercari. The buyer filed a return for the missing item, and Mercari approved. However, if the item was reported missing it cannot be returned. The user is now claiming a return, which will grant him his money back without any proper investigation. I reviewed UPS to file a claim, but it has to be the buyer who submits photos so they can track weight change.
This seems to be a scam, as the buyer messages me notifying that the package is open and missing item. Yet, he contacts Mercari and instead of letting them know the item was missing and filing a UPS claim, he now schedules a purchase return so he may presumably keep the supposedly missing item and not pay me.
Mercari is offering no resolution, nor properly investigating.
I was mailed a completely different product than what I ordered. Even after sending dozens of photos, Mercari acted is if I was not able to prove that I received the wrong item, even after I created side by side comparisons and photos showing very clearly that what I ordered and what I received were two completely different products. I wasted $114 and will NEVER use again!
MERCARI is a horrible website, regarding customer service, THEY HAVE NONE! They have all these alleged protocols and minimum of 5 pics you have to post and after all that absolutely no one reaches out to resolve the issue. I received a broken incolay vase it was a set of 2, the other was fine. But it wasn't padded correctly by seller and what with the lovely postal service being what it is, they mishandle boxes. But so i have written 4 times to ask what is happening and same automated response is received in my email... they will get to me soon. Which translates to NEVER! So buyer beware.
I bought an item off Mercari from a seller that was advertising an item made out of aluminum and when I received it the item was made totally of plastic and was defective. I received it while out of town for work and when I returned and found this I was told I couldn't contact the seller since it had been more than 3 days since I received it.

Then after searching high and low for a place to report incorrect item received, Mercari tells me that I didn't send enough photos of the incorrect item for them to make a determination. Well, when the item I purchase says MAC on the box and the product I receive says CHANEL, WTH else do you need? I will never purchase anything again from this POS site. Save your money and your time.
Still can't believe it-received a dried up once soaking wet Himalayan salt lamp that I paid 3 times what anyone would have. Even with the pictures showing that it was not like new and rusty all on the inside of the electrical, the told me they would give me a return, then went back and said they sided with the seller & fine deal! Ended up puttinba stop payment through my credit card. Today Mercari closed my account. They just lost a great buyer & seller. They are only going to continue to attract bottom feeders and low life's while skimming a decent 10% off the top of any sold items. TERRIBLE JAPANESE COMPANY! I lost $75 when I made my 1st purchase. I returned the defective item. This took me awhile as customer service via email only. Only way you can leave a review is if you accept an item. And if you use Paypal to try to get funds back they state since you did not try settle thru them they will Not return funds. DO NOT USE MERCARI, RIP OFF ARTISTS.
My account got suspended for no reason and Mercari told me to verify my account via ID to get unsuspended. I did exactly that and the vitrifaction failed. Now $179.10 is stuck in my account! I'm obviously going to open up a trustpilot and bbb complaint but also you guys never gave a release date for my money. Even if my account got suspended you guys can't keep the money forever. Why was I never emailed a release date for the money and why did verification fail!?
This company will not assist if you never receive your package. They finalized my purchase even after they were contacted the package never arrived. Once that sale is finalize their reason is "sorry sale was finalized " VERY SHADY BUSINESS.
They refused to release my money stating they suspect my selling items are unathentic then trick me to provide my SS and Driver license in order for them to release my money. Once I provided, they suspend my account and hold my money for 90 days even though I provided proof that my selling items are authentic, I even have satisfaction comments from the buyer. Then they said in order to release my money, i will have to provide provide proof of purchase of all of the items I sold on my accounts. Who in the world would have receipts of all "USED" items you sell on here? This request is ridiculous. I've been requesting protesting information and they didn't seem to want to respond, every email take 24hrs to reply and they select the information they want to respond. Horrible customer service.
Mercari sucks when it comes to sellers! They have no protection against scamming if your item is lost in transit they will cancel your transaction and you will lose your product and money, do not I repeat DO NOT sell on mercari app!

What a bad experience purchased an item from (sweet style O Mine) told me they shipped it set me a tracking number never moved week later PayPal refunded me the seller never responded to my messages after they told me they sent it and macari took their damn time and answering my messages finally they did the last day and I received a refund a blocked me from leaving any bad reviews for the seller which obviously somebody else will get caught up in the same nasty Web of lies the seller will give them (sweet style O Mine) stay away from mercari bad news
I was selling an old phone, so in the heading I put, A Call From The Past. The idiots said it was abusive miss conduct, morons, I couldn't do anything then, going to delete my account and to heck with them!
I placed the order in good faith and was excited when the shipping label was created the next morning. However, there were no additional tracking updates. When I messaged the seller to check on the status, I did not receive a reply. As soon as I messaged again (16 hours later) requesting an update by noon Eastern time, I immediately received a cancellation message, and that left me unable to leave feedback on the seller. This makes me suspicious that this is not a real seller. Again - very disappointed in how this was handled, and that I cannot leave a review to warn other buyers. If I had not stayed on top of the shipping tracking, it would have passed the window for me to cancel. However, I did not want to cancel. I really just wanted some type of communication regarding the status of my item. I would not recommend Mercari to others
They don't actually listen and just copy and paste answers. We pay all those fees for "protection" but in the end they won't actually provide any protection. I won't be using their app anymore.
