Signed up for this when I signed up for the Millionaires Club at Books A Million. It was sold to me as 2 free months for 3 magazines. Close to the 2 month trial period ending, I was told by the cashier that Mags would send out a total of 2 emails confirming if you wanted to continue following the two months.
Not even a week after signing up, I get charged $82 by them. Contacted customer service and there is "no history of a charge" on their end. Back and forth and back and forth with them. Now, I have to refute the charge with my bank and order a new card. 100% scam. Don't sign up for the free magazines they are an absolute scam. Terrible customer service and appalling experience.
Right before the pandemic i got this offer for 4 magazines@2 apiece. Even at that price, I only found 3 worth getting. Outdoor photography for my wife, bloomberg for the business teacher at the high school I work at, and car and driver for my brother in law.
I was getting nervous; not knowing who to contact for cancelation, when a notice came in the mail letting me know how to cancel. Which I did. Even though they were offering great renewal rates. I will revise if I still get the charges.
This outfit offers low "promotional" rates on mag subscriptions and them renews them at above-market rates without informing the customer or getting permission. Customer Service told me on the phone that they will stop all 4 subscriptions AND remove the bogus charges--over $90!--from my PayPal account. I will be monitoring them closely. Their parent company is notorious for this bait/switch scam. Don't do business with them. IMHO they belong in jail and deserve to be penniless.
I was checking out at___ (maybe Buckle, I can't remember where)! Well, they said I can choose 4 magazine subscriptions from $0 - $2 for anywhere from 12 to 6 months. I did have to provide my credit card and was told upfront this was an introductory rate and I would be automatically charged if I didn't cancel. For each one, I put in my calendar when the expiration date was nearing. I forgot to cancel one and was charged $45. Called and was automatically refunded. The others, when you click to cancel each one individually, it actually said "wait, renew now for a special $2.00 rate." So, not only did I get over 50
Magazines in the past year (ONE at the drugstore is $5.99 - I got at least 48 magazines) for $8.00, I can also renew them and continue with the excitement each one brings when I check my mail and see a new one in there! Just create a mags.com account, pay attention to your renewal dates, and cancel at anytime!
First they offer free magazines. Fine. Then they charge a processing fee of a few dollars for each for the "free" magazines. Then, after the free one year they try to auto renew at $30-$40 each. And to cancel is very difficult via automated voice that tries to fool you by implying you get more free issues if you continue.
It took more than the 10 weeks max that is promised at the time of purchase. Customer service is fast to respond, the reason I'm giving it a 3 star.
I did the low subscription. Said it would be here in 4-10 weeks. It's been 10 weeks and now they are saying "No" it's 12 weeks and it is scheduled to be here by the 12 week mark. Saying that I can't read the email in front of my face. Regardless, there was no notification of a delay, no trying to make it right, no apology. In my opinion this is terrible customer service and a low rate company. Beware! I was possibly going to renew but I promise you I am not with this company.
Known scammers. Not sure why any company still partners with them to fulfill their promotional magazine subscription offers. Mags.com and Magazineoutlet.com are part of the Synapse Connect group. Synapse Connect has been successfully sued by customers for failing to adequately disclose terms of renewal or notify customers of pending renewals. Even after being sued and found at fault, this company will automatically renew these promotional subscriptions at prices well over the market rate, without notifying the customer. Customer service will deflect requests to cancel and insist the company will have to get back in touch with the customer to complete the cancellation. Customer service refuses to share its terms and conditions with the customer.
I was offered a two-month free trial through a purchase I made at a retail store. I was to choose 3 magazines, and I would receive a monthly issue for each. I received ONE total magazine throughout my trial period. They said they would cancel my account and not charge me once the trial is up, but I'm afraid they will... We will see if they do. But don't waste your time. Not worth it!
I used to work for one of the magazines I subscribed to that never arrived. When I complained to the "live" agent, she said it was because I had cancelled -- which I had done mere minutes before contacting her. When I explained that, she didn't get it. I swear it was a bot. What little money I paid is lost. I don't care. Just want to alert others to not ever deal with these folks. But there's a sucker born everyday. Nothing you can do about that.
I noticed I was charged for about 2 years. Called immediately after noticing. Apparently mags were sent to an old address. They said they would fix it and cancel and they never did. Called again after being charged again and now they said it will be fixed. I only received a partial refund of the last charge. Huge scam.
It costed me $2 dollars to sign up for a year per magazine. They tell you that BEFORE they renew with the real price, they'll send you an email. Every magazine has renewed without my authorization or receiving an email for $35 dollars. Try canceling! A robot answers and doesn't cancel.
I ordered four magazines at two dollars a piece, offered as a gift from a company. I got one copy of two of them and never got anything else and it's been months. When I went back to the page that I saved as proof of my order, it was no longer available. Avoid this company and the scam.
After spending an hour trying to cancel they charged me $75 extra to cancel. Tony would not bend to help me cancel. Do not start subscriptions through them.
I have been getting charged on my account for months now for a magazine I have never even received. I tried contacting customer service numerous times and have still never been able to cancel these recurring payments. I don't even want to know how much money has literally just disappeared from my account.
I did not receive the magazines I signed up for for 2- 3 months. Tried multiple times to cancel the subscription and they couldn't find my account. Amazon charged me a new monthly charge a year after I signed up but before I received a full years' worth of magazines. I was finally able to cancel the subscriptions through Amazon, but not through the merchant.
Just before the plandemic started I ordered some magazines for a few $$. 1 1/2 years later I noticed 3 charges on my paypal account that totaled $70 within a week of each other. I didn't order anything and I did not check a box that said to keep billing me when I ordered the "just pay shipping" first round. Paypal dismissed my case saying it was consistent with my purchases. Just a heads up to anyone else thinking about the "free" magazine offer. I have emailed them several times and have not received a response. Also, If you did order the "free" ones and don't want to keep receiving them, make sure you cancel auto payments from SynapseConnect. You've been warned
Just figured out today that they have been billing me for magazines that I have not been receiving. Didn't even know I had an account with them because I haven't received any magazines!
Scam Scam they will charge you hundreds of dollars hoping you wont realize they have a base fee then al of a sudden i see one day a charge for 50 something dollars then a week later another one for $60 locally i realized if not i would have lost a lot more
I was signed up with 5 magazine subscriptions. I went to login to my account (an account I have had for years) when it told me that I did NOT have an account. So I contacted them via email on how to get into my account. Next thing I know, I get an email that ALL of my subscriptions have been cancelled! I spent hours on chat and on the phone trying to rectify this with the company telling me that there is NO WAY for this to be reversed. That I cancelled the magazines! This is obviously a bait and switch tactic and they offered me these magazines for $2 each per year and it is only been a couple months and now they have cancelled them. So apparently anytime ANYONE contacts them because they have locked you out of your account, they then cancel the magazines.
