I used Lumosity for a year and had no trouble canceling when subscription period came to an end. I'm surprised to see all the negative reviews about auto-renewal. It seems like these people didn't read the terms when they signed up. I really enjoyed the games and found them challenging and Lumosity added new ones frequently. I'm planning to start my subscription again, but while I was doing price research, I stumbled upon these reviews and just thought I'd chime in with a different perspective.

I have been using Lumosity for several years, but have recently developed a hand and head tremor which deem it next to impossible to play most the games on the site. I wrote to the company to ask for suggestions, and NEVER heard back. They are quick to take our money, but not to offer service. I tried calling the company today, and of course got a recording which said to write them an email which I have done twice already. I wish I could talk to a person. The company has already had legal action for automatically charging credit cards for renewals. You think the company would improve its policies.

Games were challenging, but got a little boring after awhile. When you sign up, there is a clause that your membership will renew automaticallly in a year. I circled the date on my calendar and before my renewal date, decided to give it a rest, cancel my enrolment online.
Months later, when looking over my charge bills, there was a renewal charge for Lumosity! I had not used the site since my cancellation. They will not reimburse me because of a six month limit for renewals. Shocked and disappointed! Shady response from what I had thought was a respected company.

Website easy to navigate, I used an iPad mini to sign up for an account. After signing up by supplying my birthdate and an email address rather than using my FB login (doing so gives them access to your friends list and google activity). I then answered a few more questions. After being redirected to the home page, I tried to access the "limited" games that are free. All of the games, tests, and other account items are all locked. It appears that if you are an iPad user the only thing free is the ability to sign up for a lumosity account, you must pay to access and use everything as an iPad or iPad mini user.

They have a promising product.
Top down non listening management
No contact between customers and staff.
Deceitful business practices.
What a pity. Frustrating
They need to make it easy to be in touch with customer experience. The do the opposit.

I also have been getting an enormous amount of spam since I signed up for the trial, I can't justify paying for a full membership to someone who sells my info to spammers. Even though I enjoy the games and was looking forward to getting a membership. You've said you don't sell to spammers but this was the only site I gave my email to in the last year and I was enjoying a spam free inbox until now. I'm very disappointed. My username is one word, the name of the country above America followed by *******@hotmail. I am careful about putting my email on the web, so it was easy to figure which company betrayed me. Well the second site is this one here jabber to complain about luminosity. Overall the site was good and the memory games seemed promising. I would gladly pay to see how much improvement I really find, if it was not for the way they handle the email address you give them. That destroys trust, especially since it goes against their very own privacy policy.

When I initially started with Lumosity about 5 months ago, I routinely received my games before 8:30 AM each day. I prefer to play my games earlier in the day, but take today for example, it's almost noon and no games yet. The fact that if I miss playing the games that day, I lose that opportunity completely, does not seem fair particularly when the company doesn't seem to be execute on a routine basis. The company also left a really bad taste in my mouth when they sent out an email after Trump was elected, asking all members to contribute money to help overturn the election. I didn't pay for political commentary, just a few enjoyable games that may or may not make my brain work better. I doubt that I will renew next year. The games aren't worth the aggravation.

SCAM ALERT!
December 2, 2019

These people are crooks. The site is useless for my child so she had stopped using it for a year. Yet, suddenly there was a charge put on my credit card. When I emailed them to ask for help, a punk who was one of their so-called Customer Rep emailed back refusing to help. I then said I was going to open a dispute with my credit card company (which I successfully did get a full reimbursement from Citi Card). This punk emailed back and said, quote, "... we only issue refund to members who are DEAD". What do you think of a company whose Customer Rep says that to their customer when they ask for a refund with a LEGITIMATE reason, ie. Haven't logged in nor used the site for a year.

The games might be helpful for some. So it gets 1 star. But the trouble one must go thru to remove aut0-renew or remove an account is insanity. NO ONE ever calls back from customer service. I've only ever gotten an answering service, not a person. It's a smack in the face of people who may actually have memory issues, because it seems they are banking (literally) on people forgetting they are paying for this account, even if they're no longer able to use it. If users have to google how to remove an account: they should re-think their customer service. I will never use any this pay-for service or recommend it to memory-care clients/families.

Lumosity.com

Lumosity.com - Very good. The tests are challenging and fun. Every now and then the site apps load slowly, but overall everything works perfectly. I have it on my PCs, smartphone, iPad. No issues or troubles. It's fun challenging myself. I have increased in ability. My scores have gone up. I feel more confident and I see what my strengths and weaknesses are across the board. It's easy, simple and fun!

Total thieves.
May 6, 2015

This company is the pits. I have a brain tumor with increasing vision problems. I tried to close out my account. When I went through the process of ending one's subscription I had no luck following their instructions, so I sent them a note telling them I wanted to drop my account. No response, and it just happened again. My second year in a row. Trying to leave this scam of a company just feels like I'm going nowhere fast. I will persist and be a real pain in the derriere till I get some response from this company

The training games often do not work lately. When you finish a game, it often doesn't give you a result or let you carry on to the next training game. Some games quit right in the middle without giving a result. Others seem to end ok, but the "continue" button doesn't work. I've complained about this numerous times, with no satisfaction. I'm ready to demand my money back.

When I signed up for 1 year, they automatically signed me up for auto-renew. Auto-renew should be an opt-in only process. There is no notification that they are going to charge you, or that your subscription is renewing. An email with a one-week notice of a renewal fee would be more ethical of them.

Don't waste your money
September 3, 2015

Dont waste your money. This is a short series of simple brain teasers. At first its kinda fun and challenging. But it gets old after about 2-3 weeks. And by the second month, totally boring! But by then, its too late to cancel your subscription. It doesnt improve anything except their bank account. You simple become a better game player. Read the reviews at other websites. To repeat, Dont waste your money.

Don't waste your money
October 28, 2013

Don't waste your money. Support is horrible, the games don't work well consistently, and there's no proof that spending the money and playing these help anyway

Email notifications haven't worked correctly for many months and support has been horrible! Now, they won't help because they say the email address I was using wasn't the same as the one on file even though I was just replying to an earlier email thread where the helpdesk and I were corresponding.

Also, the games have been messing up (especially the 'rules' game)..

I have recently subscribed to Lumosity.com full access. I paid yearly subscription. Now I was requesting to get a full refund of the sum I paid, just for personal reasons. It is stated on the website that refundation is possible for full year subscriptions, if this is done within the first month of subscription.
However, few days have already past since my request, and still I havent heard from Lumosity team.
I am getting really mad about them, as this seems to be terrible customer service, especially considering this is a paid service.
Hence I would definitely NOT RECOMMEND this website.

Having lots of fun with the kids doing the games. Most of the issues you read are customer service related. These games are much better that the alternative. You get what you pay for, if you expected to become a genius by paying $100 than you are too stupid to own a computer. If you bought this for what it is, a fun way to build some cognitive speed, you will be satisfied.

May 28, 2015

I paid for a family membership but only one person was able to play even thou I played family membership. They charged my American Express twice in one month. Can not reach human at this so called company.
I called American Express and had the charges removed and talked with soemone at the fraud dept and they have blocked them from charging my account.

They claimed if you joined you would have access to other games which was also a lie!
