When LL Bean runs any type of site wide promotion they do not honor their military/ first responder/ front line health care worker discount, but claim to honor their service. This company is a capitalist company who clearly has little to no respect for the people serving this country on the front lines. Go shop Patagonia!
When I was a kid, all of our clothes and shoes came from here. As I grew older, I continued to buy my shoes, sport coats and shirts from them. This was 20 years ago. Now, I can no longer recommend this company. Everything is outsourced except for their traditional boots and NOTHING is made in America. I received, as a gift, a pair of their raisin colored bison penny loafers. I've had them two months and the insoles are already separated at the front and wad up inside the shoes while wearing them. The insoles USED to be leather from front to back, now, there's enough leather to bear their company logo then it's nylon. Not only did they cut corners, they upped the price $25 more dollars. This is just a review, you guys buy what you want, I won't ever buy anything else from them and any future gifts will be returned. Just sad such a great company, in Maine USA, sells junk from the lowest bidding countries.
Items we purchased at Christmas and throughout the year are great - exactly what we need in fit and style. Slippers, quilts, bedding, etc. No complaints. And as for the people who think it is incredibly intelligent to ban or bash a company because of one person who supports someone you don't like, you are trying to harm thousands of employees that this company employs. Supporting a successful US company is what is important to keep the jobs here. Sort of like bullying - oh yes, what you all say our new President does. Hello pot - I'm kettle...
Takes a week and a half now to receive merchandise. Countless mis-marked clothing sizes, order filling mistakes, etc. An American legend gone bad. Time for new management and new clothing designs/colors. Same old stuff year and year. They do still have a few great products though and that keeps me going back every now and then, but they're in trouble for the long run.
Update: They have fixed their shipping issues. I received an apology and gift certificate to help. Updating my review to 3 stars.
I had purchased a number of items from LL Bean and was generally satisfied. However I had recently purchased an expensive pair of slippers that were absolutely subpar. My review was taken down because it "violated their rules". No specifics were given about what "rule" was violated and I did not see any that it could possibly violate other than painting their product is a poor light. I asked them to remove me from all their mailing lists and to their credit they did. Good riddance. If you can't handle honest criticism and reviews of your products than I won't be giving you my business.
Quality sportsman gear and clothing at a good price. They accurately describe all products and provide prompt shipping of all merchandise. I have used them for many items over the years including while I was stationed overseas in the armed services.
Over the last 40 years we have been pleased time after time when purchasing from L. L. Bean. Whether the item is for us or for a gift I can trust it to be high quality and just as advertised. No ugly surprises from these folks!
Purchased woman's ankle hiking boot, glue came apart from the soles on both boots after being worn once. LL Bean stated that it was a manufacturer's defect but would not refund or exchange these boots. Poor workmanship, cheaply made. Would not recommend these boots for purchase
May not be the cheapest place to shop but you really get what you pay for. I have purchased multiple sweaters in classic never go out of style cuts and colors and they all wash and wear wonderfully! Interested in trying out their shoes, they will probably last 10 years!
While I did not order, this time, I was able to get answers immediately to my questions - the customer service can not be beat! Generally, bought a bed from them - they provided advice, as I was putting it together (in addition to the written instructions provided!). Great product. As was the Bicycle I purchased. '
Suggestion: if you like their products - get their Credit card - you'll save in so many ways, in addition to building up credits towards future purchases! They also offer better discounts, when available, for members!
They do not tell you that they refuse to repair canvas upper bean Main Hunting Boots at purchase. Defective stitching all around. I even offered to pay. I have been wearing bean boots since I was 5 years old ( photo evidence) I am now 62. Product and service have gone to H E L L. Might as well go to Walmart these days, as The Bean Family has sold out old customers! Bean will be just like Sears and JC Penny... bankrupt and despised by all.
Wow. Totally misleading information about "when we ship"... when I purchased (11/15) the wreath, the site said, "we start shipping Nov 20 and your order will arrive 5-7 business days." Today the tracking said "Dec. 5" and it's nowhere near its destination. No wonder people have complained about the dried-out wreaths! Never again.
I have been a customer for 60 years, Every catalog I ever ordered from guaranteed the item forever saying in plain English that any item purchased would be replaced at any time for any reason... All of a sudden without warning they changed their policy leaving me with over $1,000 of unwanted items.
We have had the LL Bean cars for years. I am so disgusted with Citibank with their constant "theft protection" holds and being denied when we use it every other transactions. After several phone calls and discussions they still can't figure it out.
Sorry LL Bean- love you guys but enough is enough with your bank.
Sent back slippers for exchange. The size estimator on the site was way off. LLBean received the return today but told me they will get around to it in 4 -5 weeks. My options- none. I can write return to sender on the box when the replacement comes.
I won't be buying from them again.
Other stores should look to Bean's to learn how customers should be treated! The polar opposite experience I had last month is with Pottery Barn Kids - the most inept customer service ever! I didn't think a company could stay in business with such poor service as PBK. Don 't buy their stock, I can't believe they'll last. Beans should run an education program for other companies customer service reps and teach them how it should be done! Thank you Beans for valuing us customers!
The store pretty much sells high quality items but that doesn't mean you can't find those items cheaper at other good retailers. LL Bean does offer one of the best return policies in the industry. They did that because the predominant LL Bean business is done through on line and catalog business and in order to entice wary customers. The styling of the clothing is definitely not haute fashion (its more akin to granny wear) but it is always well made and quality material.
I sent back a Christmas gift for an exchange in size. Not only has it been several weeks, but they did not read my exchange paperwork with the correct replacement size and they had it set to ship to my bill to address. After two emails explaining these two issues... and assurance that this has been corrected, they are still shipping to my bill to. Really? First and last order to L. L. Bean. I want absolutely no kind of gift card or percent off... I want nothing. There are too many companies to choose from that have it together. You, have issues.
Not happy. Reaching out to everyone sounding a warning! The website is terrible, not user friendly.
All I wanted was to return an item of clothing. The employee crap I delt with trying to get item numbers, questioning erroneous charges after they received the return. I just don't understand how these places survive when they treat customers terrible. Don't sign up for the card to get a clothing discount, and take your money somewhere they appreciate you and want to help. This company isn't it!
New to site Jabber and got invited to write a bunch of reviews. Well I won't write many, but. I've got to give a shout out to this one. If your going to actually Love a Company... for me its LL Bean. What can I say that hasn't already been said?... Every product I've ever bought has been well made. Every on line experience easy. They're the best!
Answer: Nope. But I have heard the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band's Gorilla album and it's my fav.
Answer: Fairly easy to get a CS rep via chat or phone but they aren't as conscientious as they once were and seem to use a lot of canned responses.
Answer: If you don't get results from one customer service representative, ask to speak to a supervisor. I emailed my question in and had a quick response and exceptional service. Had I not, I certainty would have gone up the chain of command.
