Bought a voucher for 4 for a meal, couldnt get in as they were fully booked until the end of the promotion. I rang living social for a refund to be told that they dont give refunds and i should have read the small print that states 'subject to availability'. In other words they sell you a voucher which you cannot use if the restaurant is too busy, you pay for it and its hard lines if you cannot use it! FURIOUS! NEVER HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH GROUPON!
I bought a voucher, tried to redeem it, no response from the vendor despite multiple attempts and LivingSocial refuse to refund me despite not being able to point out in their T's & C's why they don't have to. Their "Customer Service Director" (Arti Morarji, apparently) doesn't even have a phone number or email address. Laughable. Don't use them.
I agree with the previous Melinda's comment that Livingsocial is a rip off. They describe something as a deal just to pull peoples' money. Once when they have your money, you cannot do anything, their customer support is a burlesque.
I had to give up from over $100 that I threw into their "deals". I spent a lot of money on deals at another websites and my experience with another companys like Groupon is mostly positive.
Worst site ever! They promote failing and shady businesses because no one else will. I am personally fighting a big charge incurred from one of their fraudulent businesses. When you have a problem, the site has no feedback or help. Stay away... this site will fail... give it time.
So according to Livingsocial if you get a voucher you have a week to refund. Eventhough the vendor you bough the service from is not availabe to do the service for a month. And eventhough the same vendor stoods you up, humiliates you and discriminates against you based on your origins. That's exactly happened to me. The vendor stood me up and she said she didn't call because I'm foreign and I don't speak Enlish. I speak enough English to understand. An absolutely humiliating experiec where Livingsocals says "you've sold your soul to us, just take the crap and shut up. NO money back for you." I think Livingsocial should talk to their vendors, unless Living social agrees with their vendors discriminatory behaviour. They should tell their vendors: "If you don't want to sell your services for less, don't do it. You have no righ to humiliate your customers and treat them like a second class citizens."
Check out the vendor and don't be flexible on dates or you won't get a refund!
I bought a voucher which the vendor was unable to honour within the time frame as they were moving premises. They offered to rebook in the New Year but when I went the new premises were temporary and freezing (it was for a massage). I emailed Living Social twice for a refund but got no reply and when I called I was told that as the voucher was expired I was not covered. I explained that this was not my fault as the vendor was unable to honor the deal within the time but was told I should have complained then. I wanted to complain but was told that the only way to do so was through Customer Service - no higher/independant service!
Terrible customer service. My wife paid for a weekend at a bed and breakfast through Living social. When she contacted the B&B to make reservations, the owner said they were completely booked up through the dates in the original offer but they would honor the deal for a period almost a year from now (but won't book anything till then). My wife then tried to get a refund or credit from Living Social because the B&B was unable to complete the original contract. No help from Living Social and we are probably out the money at this point.
My wife promised to never buy anything else from Living Social and I promised to post our story to as many websites as I can find in the hopes that it will keep other people from making the mistake we did of doing business this this scam of a company.
These guys sell vouchers without any apparent vetting of the service or product provider. Have spent a month trying to contact the supposed provider of the cleaning service that I have purchased and heard nothing back. Contacted Living Social and they will not refund my money! No service and no refund - isn't this illegal!
I would love to go for a air balloon ride and Living Social was selling vouchers for Dream Adventures USA. I bought 3 vouchers, $175.00 each, which were going to expire by the end of the 2012 summer. My husband, friend and I were very excited to enjoy it. I contacted the company and was informed that they did not have any time available at that time. They would call me back to arrange a time as soon as they have anything open. They called me back, a couple of times, offering me crazy times, like 6 am on a monday or 8 pm on a sunday. By the end of the summer, the lady from Dream Adventures USA told me the only thing they could do was to change the location, which would not work for me. So, after my vouchers expired, I contacted Living Social and they told me there was nothing they could do form me, because i still can use the paid amount for the same deal. Their customer service is the worst ever! I deal with other similar companies, like Groupon, or urban daddy, and never, never, been in a position where i have to pay for the company's mistake, This is just not right! They do not care about us, as a customer. I went through similar situations with groupon and they treated me in a very different way. They did not give me my money back, sometimes game me credits for the amount i spent, but I was always treated in a very nice way. I do not recommend anyone to spend a dollar with this living social company.

This situation was a complete scam. This person is a massage therapist and I could never talk to her on the phone. Her voicemail redirected everyone to her website and after repeated left messages, she never returned my calls. On the day of my appointment she sent me a "text message" stating that my appointment had been cancelled and needed to be rescheduled because she had lost her lease. I found out there were many negative remarks on her website and I wanted a refund. After repeated emails to Living Social, I have not received a single reply. The last thing I have had to do is contact my daughter (whose gift this was to me), and ask her to go to her credit card company and refuse the charge which she (in her embarassment for a "gift gone bad"), is attempting to do. Living Social should respond to their customers and not ignore them.
Terrible. I couldn't print out my voucher for Tix I purchased. I contacted them for help and they didn'. T get back to me till after event. I gave them 4 days. They would not issue refund stating it had to be done within 24 hours. What? They are in the wrong and won. T own up to it. Terrible business practice. Stay away from them.
I have bought a voucher from living social but the code on the voucher was wrong. I contacted living social with my complaint. They recommended to contact the vendor directly. The vendor never replied to my several phone calls, messages and emails. I informed Living Social abouth this fact. They didn't do anything to help me. Until today (weeks later) I still have not got my product. Living Social refused to refund my money. This is the worst customer service experience I have ever had.
My daughter signed up for the Hunter Mountain ski trip. She got up at 5 and although she was early for her bus, there was no seat for her. All of her friends, who arrived either at the same time or later, got seats. The people running the trip are just college kids with no real adult management and no resources to solve problems. They just sent the unlucky people, all of whom got up at the crack of dawn, home.
I bought a vocher but their partner company wouldn't contact me. And they refuse to refund. Basically I paid for nothing.
I have ordered 4 things from Living Social; 2 vouchers and 2 orders for merchandise. Both orders took over a month to arrive and that was only after sending emails. I will never use LS again and will not recommend them.
I've purchased a total of 11 deals from this site and have had great experience with them. I've done two livingsocial adventures with group of friends and they were a blast! Also had no problems w/ my amazon gift card, oil change, etc. I would recommend this site over Groupon and KGB deals from personal experience. LivingSocial seems to work with smaller companies that get passed up by Groupon and I like supporting smaller businesses when they provide good service.
I have used groupons for some time and someone told me living social was as good. NOT SO!
I gave them a try and bought a hypnosis session from living social only to learn for the first time at the appointment time that it was for a group session. No where on the living social site was this stated. Nor did the vendor inform me when I made the appointment. Furthermore, living social would not refund my purchase because too much time had lapsed.
Here's what happened - I bought the session and immediately tried to contact the vendor for the session. The vendor said that since I was interested in weight loss (a stated option) they would need to call me back to let me know when I could schedule it. I waited and waited then called them a few weeks later. The first available time was 3 weeks later. I went to the appointment and learned it was a group session. The time lapse was controlled by the vendor and funny how the appointment was scheduled so late!
I contacted living social - they said that the vendor's website indicated that they had group sessions so somehow I should have known that the one on living social was a group one even though it was not indicated - stupid me!
I use Grouponstry things out that I would normally never tried. And it has lead to repeat business when I like what I tried. I have also referred my friends to the vendors. When I had a similar issue like this with Groupon vendor - they made good! Living Social did NOT... The product they sold me was not properly advertised; stay away from living social.
Living Social has the worst customer service of any company I've ever dealt with. We bought a hotel voucher, for which the ONLY blackout dates listed were federal holidays and an upcoming festival in the spring. When we went to make our reservation, however, the hotel had changed the blackout dates to include the entire week surrounding the federal holiday, which was when we were planning to go. We asked for a refund, and not only did they refuse, they treated us like complete idiots. I will never use them again and would highly advise against it.
Purchased a voucher for merchandise at a local store based on the information given re the store by LivingSocial. Visited the store, not anything like advertised, nothing worth using voucher for. Contacted LivingSocial, which basically said too bad, so they do not stand behind their information or their merchants. Will not use again.
Bad experience as a merchant. Living social is a ripoff. Also, as a client, they never refunded my money after a merchant refused my voucher before the expiration date.
Answer: I wouldn't recommend these people to anyone. A total nightmare. They take your money don't send the goods and they don't answer e mails
Answer: There do seem to have been some financial problems with many of the deals from Living Social. But when I had a problem they answered the phone and it was dealt with quickly and the goods resent.
Answer: Have you contacted the customer service at Livingsocial.com? I have found them to be pretty responsive in the past. This is a seperate review site.
LivingSocial is a leading "daily deal" site that sells discounted experiences and local services--restaurants, spa trips, home services, travel, etc.--via voucher. The consumer must pay for the voucher upfront, and the voucher generally must be used within a specified time period or it cannot be redeemed. To make these deals possible, LivingSocial sells merchants on its ability to help "find and keep more customers". LivingSocial is a private company based in Washington DC and its shareholders include Amazon.com.
