I have used livingsocial many times but after my last experience it - NO MORE. I purchased a voucher for a mani/pedi and when I called the nail salon to redeem it, they asked me right off the bat if I had a livingsocial coupon- I told them yes and then proceeded to tell me that they could only give me a morning or early afternoon appointment- the voucher does NOT specify times. I called livingsocial to report this and basically all they told me was oh well. If you want any control over the quality of service you receive at a business DO NOT BUY A LIVING SOCIAL VOUCHER. They don't stand by you as a customer and businesses have basically been paid already and therefore are not concerned with your experience after all, you've already coughed up the dough- what's it to them? I do appreciate the deals and discounts but after this, it's just not worth the aggrevation. Will pay a little extra in the future to have control over my consumer experience.

I purchased a set of pillows from them and when they arrived, smelled like they had been dipped in the sewer. I had to wait 3 weeks just to get a refund. But I believe everyone deserves a second chance so I tried to purchase vouchers for a magazine. Unfortunately I had my old card on my account still. So I changed it to my new one, and then tried to repurchase the items. It wouldn't let me. I sent 3 emails to the company and left 2 voicemails. No one ever got back to me, until 4 days later, after the deal had expired. Then they said it was my fault.

If you buy even one deal from living social, be prepared for 5 emails a day, most of which are junk or repeats from the previous day. They will not stop regardless of adjustments you make to your account settings. Worst of all, their customer service is another typical automated response, generic answers, and policy driven reactions to any questions or concerns customers may have. Good luck ever getting an actual response out of them. No wonder every single review site has them rated so low. If you don't treat your customers with some sort of respect, or you don't offer them any sort of intelligent help, do you honestly expect any review to be good?

I recently bought a voucher for a night of speed dating. After I bought the voucher they changed the date of the event. I could not make the new date and tried to get a refund. They would not honor it.

Pathetic is one word that describes my experience with Living social. Bought Christmas cruise voucher from them but when I called the merchant to book the cruise, he said that I will have to pay full amount using credit card and I can use the voucher on their any other usual cruise, which by the way was of same price without a voucher anyways.

Called Living social to complain, was on hold for 15 min, gave up after that and complained using help page. No response for 48 hr on the web complain. Again called them, this time on hold for 20 min but I was determined to talk to someone this time, finally someone answers and tells me that she will talk to merchant, again hold for 10 minutes and the response I get is merchant is willing to honor the voucher for any of their normal cruise- OK I know that, what about the cruise that you advertised while selling- Sorry sir we can't do anything about it-Advised me to gift the voucher to someone- Thanks preacher, don't tell me what to get best out of my lost money, instead have a way so that your customers are not taken for a ride. You got your commission and you are happy with it, merchant will get some business- as at least few of the customers will fall prey to his bait (I might have to do it too to get at least something out of the money I put in) - do more and let customers be happy too.

STAY AWAY FROM LIVING SOCIAL is my advice to you. I had an amazing experience with Groupon and Amazon local deals.

My voucher doesn't work
December 6, 2012

My voucher doesn't work. They took my 10 dollars. Impossible to contact. They didn't even reply my email. They have non-existant number in the voucher email. In help page they have a number, I tried to call, but my phone played music constantly and infinitely. Avoid them.

I had such a bad experience and wish I could score them 0! I purchased a voucher for gutter cleaning service. The vendor would not return my emails or phone messages. I could not get a scheduled date for the service. I understand times are tough. If a vendor put forth a deal they should be prepared to provide the service. I called Living Social and got a refund on the deal. I called my previous company and with 1 phone call was able to schedule a date for the service.
I think all of this is just a SCAM. Don't do these deals because you will have nothing but problems. You get what you pay for really applies in this situatioin.

Living social are rude, incompetent and refuse to accept their responsibilities with those who buy from them. They honestly should be boycotted as its almost like selective 'scamming', well maybe not quite that bad but I would not put it past them after all the things I have read, heard and now experienced concerning these kind of companies. This is the first time (last!) I ever used them as I'd seen and read about the vast number of dissatisfied customers from website like this (but friends had done so a few times with overall success, if a little bit hassle but nothing too bad) and they first send what they state is wrong code, so then another is sent, and quelle surprise, this one doesn't work either! So we call them and sit a queue for almost 15 minutes to be out through to not a very helpful person, i wouldn't call them a 'customer care rep' to be honest! Their response - oh no it doesn't work does it, after she tried it, and that we should call the merchant, which we had already done who advised us to call livingsocial. She was a little stumped from there and her response was that she will email their "overseas team" and "launch an investigation". How odd, i bought a voucher on a Uk website from home in Glasgow to access a merchant in Glasgow. But obviously an overseas team is so much better placed to deal with the problem. I clearly and calmly explained we needed code asap as its required for weekend (that we had arranged for people to come from a distance to take part therefore that fact she could not give us an length of time that this could take was totally unacceptable. It was only when we said, fine we shall just cancel the order, that she became a little more responsive - she emailed an hour later suggesting living social had failed to advise the merchant with the order and its code, but that this should be rectified by 2pm tomorrow - we will have to wait and see, and even then as the merchant requires 48 hours notice (working days) then it still may not work out in time for us. Utter idiots. Never again!

As a small business Do NOT use living social. People buying these deals will never be a regular client and are demanding like no one's business. We had an independant contractor manicurist run this deal and even after expiration of the voucher, people insisted on getting the DEAL! The contractor does not work for us anymore and we're still getting calls and hang ups. Living social said they would refund clients who neglected to make appointments on time, of course they never did. To sum it up all we got out of running a deal with living social are bad reviews, not just bad, but nasty!

I bought a pedi/mani service from LivingSocial (for California Hair and Nail Academy) only to realize that the services were performed by students who had very little experience. I felt that I was misled because I did not know the services were going to be performed by students. After the service, I looked back on the vouchers and the fine print called themselves "experts" but many of students who performed the services told me they were only there a month. They didn't even do my cuticle. All they did was clean my nails and toes and painted them. The problem was that the polish was put on so poorly, they looked unprofessional. I called LS to ask for my money back and they said they could not because the vouchers were redeemed. However, how would I have known about the bad services if I hadn't redeemed the vouchers. I think the whole thing is a scam and I'm afraid of buying anything on LivingSocial any more.

Purchased a coupon for a store fairly far from my home. Deal was good enough to warrant the trip. Got there, and they said they would not honor the Living Social coupon. What more is there to say?

Im a merchant and I am very disappointed with cheapo clients. We the job and at least we expect is some feedback, booking but LV clients only wants the deal. We sold 200 vouchers, we had 98% positive feedback and over 100 great reviews. We had only 2 feedback negative, it is 1% out of 200 vouchers. We are cleaning business. We had 4 clients coming back. Tell me it is good deal for business? All we could do was hope. We did the most incredible job to each one of them, including working late hours and to serve the demanding clients (never seen someone paying full price being so demanding). Then no return! Sorry people but if merchant are not welcoming its customers fault most of the time. By the end of our vouchers we just want to pay the client out for the voucher money so disappointed we were. I will never offer a deal, I know the quality of work we provide. Some people wants double up their coupon, even though says one per household. Got be kidding me? If I actually want to work for free I give coupons to charity as we always do. I could write a book about each experience. As business owner I went myself to each one of the houses. This deal companies should disappear. You know that deal you get for $30 bucks house cleaning. LV takes 52% off and only pays 48% to the merchant. After seeing all wasted time we are very disappointed. Lucky that we have good regular customers for years, otherwise we would rather seat and cry.

Deal was Movie Discount for 2 tickets via Fandango.com. The Fandango add on fee made the deal actually cost more than purchasing the tickets at the Theatre.
I do not recommend livingsocial.com or using Fandango.com.

STAY AWAY!
November 15, 2012

STAY AWAY! DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM! I am so disgusted with Living Social. I ordered something back in May and wrote them two e-mails and NO ONE responded. That is horrible Customer Service. I'm still waiting for a response because I'm having issues with what I ordered. I would give them negative stars if I could.

LivingSocial is now promoting a duct cleaning scam in Chicago, IL. I bought a voucher through LivingSocial for "Cleaning of all air ducts, HVAC inspection, and dryer vent cleaning" for $69 on August 21,2012. Today is November 14,2012. Three canceled appointments later, they still haven't showed to perform the service. Twice, I was stood up, waiting at home for them to show up. The third time, I called the day before to confirm. Sure enough, they called me back, needing to reschedule. This is a scam. LivingSocial doesn't take responsibility for it, either. Had to hold for 25 minutes just to talk to a live person. My solution: I brought the scam to the attention of my bank, and they are going to reverse the charges. I hope Fresh Air Duct Services and LivingSocial go out of business--the sooner the better for consumers.

I ordered to vouchers and redeemed them with the merchant within the required time. Four months later not items were delivered. Each month I contacted LivingSocial and the merchant and each time they both fobbed me off. Four months in LivingSocial have sent an email saying I didn't redeem in time and tough.

Am now taking out a county court summonds against them.

From the business

LivingSocial is a leading "daily deal" site that sells discounted experiences and local services--restaurants, spa trips, home services, travel, etc.--via voucher. The consumer must pay for the voucher upfront, and the voucher generally must be used within a specified time period or it cannot be redeemed. To make these deals possible, LivingSocial sells merchants on its ability to help "find and keep more customers". LivingSocial is a private company based in Washington DC and its shareholders include Amazon.com.
